Walkthrough (Continued)

Heist Setup: Bugstars Equipment

Start Location: The ‘Hs' marker on the Mini-map at Elysian Island.

Optional Objective/s:
Sneaky Pest - Steal a Bugstars van without being detected.

Walkthrough:

Once the heist plan has been set, we need to do some preparation work before it can begin. If you selected the loud and obvious mission option for the heist earlier, you'll receive an 'Hs' marker on the Mini-map at Elysian Island to go and steal a Bugstars van.

Drive out to Elysian Island and approach the mission start point. As you arrive, three blue objective markers will appear on the mini-map. These are the vans and we need to steal one of them. If you simply walk over to them, it will upset the employees who will call the police.

As such, make your way around the building to the back doors. Use your stealth moves to sneak in and knock out the employee by the closest van before hijacking the van and taking it out the back door. If you do this, you should be able to nab it without alerting the employees and you'll complete the ‘Sneaky Pest' optional objective.

If you alerted the employees as you stole the vehicle, we'll now have to evade the police until the two-star wanted rating vanishes.

Once you have lost the police (if you were required to lose them), follow the yellow GPS trail back to a small underpass beneath the highway opposite Lester's garment factory to end the mission.

Heist Setup: BZ Gas Grenades

Start Location: At the mobile ‘Hs' marker moving around between east and central Los Santos.

Initiated By: Michael

Optional Objective/s:
Loose Cargo - Shoot open the back doors to release the cargo.

Walkthrough:

As with the previous mission, this mission is also marked with a 'HS' on the map and is required to do some set-up work for the heist. This one appears if you selected the stealthy mission option earlier. This mission start marker moves around as the target is an armoured van and will be constantly on the move in east and central Los Santos.

Drive over to intercept the van. As you arrive, a blue objective marker will appear on the mini-map to reveal the target vehicle. To access its cargo you need to shoot the back doors open which will drop the cargo on the ground for pick up and in doing so will also help you to achieve the optional objective ‘Loose Cargo'.

Alternatively, you can cause the van to stop so that the drivers of the van exit the vehicle (shooting the tires makes this easier!). Once the guards are dead, hijack the vehicle.

If you made enough of a ruckus, you'll now have to evade the police until the two-star wanted rating vanishes. Once you have lost the police, follow the yellow GPS trail back to a small underpass beneath the highway opposite Lester's garment factory to end the mission.

The Jewel Store Job

Start Location: This Heist mission will automatically activate after completing all of the set-up jobs.

Initiated By: Michael, Franklin

The jewel store job heist will automatically activate upon completion of all of the setup jobs for the heist. After a brief introductory scene, you will be good to go. As there are two different permutations to this mission based on the selection you made earlier, there is a walkthrough for each below.

The Jewel Store Job – Quiet

Start Location: Will automatically activate after completing all of the set-up jobs.

Initiated By: Michael, Franklin

Optional Objective/s:
Quick Grab - Steal all jewellery within 50 seconds.
Clean Sweep - Steal jewellery from all 20 cabinets in the store.
Protégé Protected - Protect Franklin during the police chase.

Walkthrough:

After the briefing, head down the stairs and get in the car outside. Follow the yellow GPS line to make your way over to the jewellery store. Park outside of the construction site on the yellow indicator and Franklin will get out.

We're now in control of Franklin. Enter the construction site and climb the stairs and ladders to reach the rooftop. Make your way over to the vantage point that we used before so that Michael could photograph the vents on the roof. From here we need to select the BZ gas and toss one of the grenades into the open vent inside the barbed-wire fence marked with the yellow objective marker.

When you are successful, a scene will play. Afterward, you will be back in control of Franklin in the store. At this point, run up to each of the glass cases and interact with it to grab the loot inside. Depending on the hacker you chose, you will have varying time limits to do this.

Once you have enough loot, have cleared the shop out (if you can grab all of the loot within 50 seconds you'll earn both the ‘Quick Grab' and ‘Clean Sweep' optional objectives) or the time runs out, the alarm will sound.

Franklin will hop on a bike. Follow the other squad members (marked with blue objective markers) until they hop down onto a highway and through a hole in the wall. Make your way through the underground tunnel for a fair distance, making sure to follow your crew members. Eventually, you will exit into a cistern.

After a brief cut-scene, players will now be back in control of Michael in an armoured truck. A yellow objective marker will appear in the distance. We need to protect Franklin and the other crew on bikes until they arrive at the objective marker. To do this, use the truck to ram the police cars that appear to spin them out or decommission them. Successfully keeping Franklin from harm here will net you the ‘Protégé Protected' optional objective.

When you reach the objective marker a short scene will play.

Once the scene has run its course, drive the truck over to Lester's lockup using the yellow GPS route provided on the mini-map to complete the mission.

Note: For completing this mission, you'll earn the ‘Diamond Hard' achievement/trophy.

Reward/s and Unlocks:

  • Contact: Lester will now be a contact for Franklin's Phone.
  • Weapon: Carbines will now be available to purchase from Ammu-Nation stores.
  • Event: Crash Rescue Random Event now available.

Use this link to proceed down past the other permutation of the heist level and onto the next mission: 'Mr. Philips'.

The Jewel Store Job – Loud

Start Location: Will automatically activate after completing all of the set-up jobs.

Mr. Philips

Client: Michael

Start Location: Michael's house in the living room.

Initiated By: Franklin, Michael

Optional Objective/s:
Lost and Damned - Kill the two bikers during the first chase.
No survivors - Kill all fleeing bikers.
Trailer Trashed - Cause $5000 damage to Ortega's trailer.
Headshots – Kill 12 enemies with headshots.
Mission Time – Complete mission under 12:00.

Walkthrough:

After a brief intro cut-scene we'll find ourselves in control of a new character - Trevor. Enter his car and follow the yellow GPS trail over to the target marker in Grapeseed. As you reach the objective location a scene will play.

Once the scene is done, the bikers will take off. You need to follow the van and dispose of the two motorcycle riders by shooting them from their bikes. For killing them both during this initial chase sequence, you'll complete the optional objective ‘Lost and Damned'.

Once the bikes are done, follow the van for another 2-3 minutes until it stops. Note that you will be traversing dirt roads at this point and your passengers have no seatbelts so if you hit something too hard or roll the car it will kill them and you will fail the mission. As such ensure that you drive carefully, do your best to avoid collisions and use the breaks on tight corners –after all, you don't need to attack the van, simply follow it.

When you reach the point at which the van stops, Trever and company will exit the vehicle. We need to clear out the immediate area of bikers. There is a good number of them around, a couple of them will hang out on rooftops and 2-3 of them will ride motorbikes around the area.

It's a good idea to work on your headshot count as you fight through this area (we'll need 12 for the optional objective). As the enemies seem to converge on your position and can surround you, I suggest working your way down the western side of the camp and behind the caravans to the northernmost point of the area. Kill enemies as you go and additional bad guys as they appear. Once you have killed enough (I took down roughly 12-15) you will be told to return to the truck.

Follow the yellow GPS trail over to the target marker in nearby. After a short scene, drive into the trailer in front of your vehicle to push it into the river. Doing so should unlock the optional objective ‘Trailer Trashed'.

After the scene, pull out Trevor's gun and aim it at the target. After he drops to his knees, put away your weapons and kick him.

Return to the truck and follow the yellow GPS trail over to the target marker at Ron's house.

Reward/s and Unlocks:

  • Activity: Off-road Races are now available.

Trevor Philips Industries

Client: Cheng jr.

Start Location: At the ‘Yellow Jack Inn' near the radar dishes in Gran Senora Desert.

Initiated By: Trevor

Optional Objective/s:
Scrap Man - Destroy 6 vehicles.
Body Count - Kill at least 32 enemies.
Unmarked - Complete the mission without losing much health.
Mission Time - Complete mission under 4:30.

Walkthrough:

Get in the car with your new buddies and follow the yellow GPS trail over to the target marker nearby.

After the scene, run up and take cover behind the window. From the vantage point here, kill the enemy gang members below as they appear. Note that blowing up their trucks will cause significant splash damage and kill most enemies within the immediate vicinity. This is good as we'll need to destroy at least 6 vehicles for the ‘Scrap Man' and 32 enemies total for ‘Body Count' optional objectives.

Once the initial batch of baddies has been dealt with, another car will show up and break through the fence on the right. You won't be able to shoot at them from here, so follow the Chef as he leads you into the next area. Pop over the balcony here and take out the hostiles below.

After clearing the second group, follow Chef back inside and out onto the rooftop at the rear of the building. Again take cover and eliminate the bad guys as they approach. Midway through this section, you will be given a 40mm grenade launcher. Use that to destroy the enemy cars and make taking down the remaining enemies much faster. Mop up any remaining bad guys.

Now follow Chef back inside and head downstairs. Take cover behind the counter and kill the enemies that come through the open door opposite.

Once the enemies have all been dealt with, return outside and approach the ice box to complete the mission.

Nervous Ron

Client: Trevor

Start Location: Ron's House (Trevor's first safe house).

Initiated By: Trevor

Optional Objective/s:
Nervous Twitch – Win the race.
6 Bridges, 1 Plane - Fly under all 6 bridges along the flight path.
Death on a Wing - Kill all bikers whilst you are on the plane wing.
Headshots - Achieve 5 headshot kills.
Mission Time – Complete mission under 12:30.

Walkthrough:

After chatting with your henchmen, have Trevor walk over and hop on the ATV. Follow the yellow GPS trail over to the target marker at the nearby Ammu-Nation store.

When you arrive, jump off the ATV and head into the store. Walk up to the counter and look at the sniper rifle. Equip the suppressor and advanced scope attachments. You can buy any additional add-ons if you feel the need, but aforementioned attachments are all that is needed to progress. When you are ready to continue, go back outside.

Hop back on the ATV and follow the blue GPS route to reach your buddy, Ron. When you arrive, exit the vehicle and climb to the top of the water tower.

We will now have to use our sniper rifle to provide covering fire for Ron who will sneak into the biker controlled area ahead.

Once he gets off his ATV and starts in on foot you'll need to defend him as he approaches and tinkers with the fuel tank beneath the control tower. To do this we need to follow him with our sniper rifle and take out any enemies that appear before they can spot him. Note that you'll need to achieve at least 5 headshot kills for the ‘Headshots' optional objective.

You'll find the enemies in the following places and need to perform the following actions to deal with them effectively:

  • Shoot the guard at the bottom of the steps of the control tower.
  • Shoot the two lights above the stairs.
  • Wait for the van to stop moving and then shoot the driver when he gets out.
  • Pop the guard at the top of the control tower.
  • Take out the guard at the base of the tower to the left of the steps.
  • Another guard at the top of the control tower – kill him quick as he will turn on the alarm once he sees the other dead guy here.
  • An enemy will emerge from the right-hand side of the building below the control tower closest to the fuel tank.
  • Another enemy will emerge in the same spot as the last one. Again, kill him quick as he will turn on the alarm once he sees the other dead guy here.

Ron will now plant the bomb. Afterwards, you'll have to take out an additional pair of enemies

  • An enemy will appear from the desert on the right of the fuel tank.
  • A helicopter will appear. Wait until it hovers in place for a few seconds – you should be able to see the pilot. Shoot him.

Once the chopper goes down, the other bikers in the area will know that you are there. Hop on the ATV and drive over to where Ron was planting the bomb. Clear the enemies from the area and make your way to the plane at the back of the hangar nearby (it's marked with the blue objective marker).

As you approach, a scene will play and Trevor will hop on the wing. Now you need to shoot the enemies as they appear to protect the plane.

Note that you will need to kill all of the enemies that appear for the optional objective ‘Death on a Wing'. Use the mini-map to identify the enemies in the area and target those in close proximity first to minimise the risk that they pose. Continue to do this until a scene plays.

Trevor will now be in control of a plane. Take off and follow Ron. Do a roll to shake the bad guy off your wing. Continue to follow the other plane until you reach a smoke signal. Hit the button prompt at the top of the screen to drop your cargo.

Now fly back to the landing strip marked with the yellow marker. Be sure to beat Ron in the race to complete the ‘Nervous Twitch' and be sure to fly under all six bridges as you go for the ‘6 Bridges, 1 Plane' optional objectives. After landing, steer it into the hangar here.

Reward/s and Unlocks:

  • Properties: You are now able to purchase properties in the game. These give you managerial side-missions to keep you occupied and also earn you a weekly income to supplement your spending money.
  • Property: McKenzie Field Hangar is now available to purchase for $175,000.

Crystal Maze

Walkthrough:

Get in a car and follow the yellow GPS trail over to the target marker nearby. When you arrive, exit and make your way up to the objective marker marking the vantage point on top of the hill nearby.

After a brief scene, pull out your sniper rifle from the previous mission and start putting down targets. Thinning the numbers out now will make the ensuing firefight shortly a little more manageable. It is best to pick off the farmers that are by themselves, or if there are multiple enemies in the one position, take them both down in quick succession.

You'll find them in the following locations:

  • One on the lower deck area of the farmhouse
  • Three on the upper balcony of the farm house.
  • Two in front of the barn to the left of the farmhouse.
  • Two standing talking in front of the barn to the right of the farm house.
  • Two pushing barrels further to the right of the previous two enemies.

Once you have wiped those enemies out, it is time to approach the farmhouse. There are an additional 6-8 farmers inside that will all converge on your position if you are detected. As such, I recommend getting in cover somewhere outside (like the open barn) and shoot some of the enemies through the windows to lure them out, then switch to a shotgun or another more rapid firing weapon and kill the bad guys that come to attack you.

Finally, move up into the farmhouse and finish off any stragglers. Note that there is a medkit on the back porch, two on the main floor and another on the second floor of the farmhouse should you need them.

When you are ready, make your way to the southern corner of the farmhouse to find stairs leading down to the basement. Shoot the last enemy down here.

Grab the gas can from the corner and equip it. Start pouring gas and backtrack all the way back outside as you do to create a gasoline trail – the dotted yellow line on the mini-map should give you the optimum path to take. Make sure you leave no yellow dots on the radar – they indicate an incomplete trail. Once you reach the gate outside, pull out a gun and shoot the trail to ignite it.

Following the scene, hop in a vehicle and put some distance between Trevor and the farmhouse. When you are far enough away, the mission will be complete.

Friends Reunited

Walkthrough:

Get in a car and follow the yellow GPS trail over to the target marker nearby. When you arrive, exit the vehicle.

We'll be at a caravan park similar to where we took down the large group of bikers earlier. To complete this section, we need to plant sticky bombs on the trailers designated with a yellow objective marker.

You can either stealth into the area and make your way around the outside of the zone, plant the bombs on all the designated trailers. Note that there is a bonus objective ‘Perfect Gift' for detonating all of the trailers at once and another ‘Mystery Gift' for doing so without being detected. When everything is in place return to the vehicle.

When the bombs are planted on all the trailers, return to the car and detonate the bombs using the phone. Note that enemies will attack you when you detonate the explosives so at this point, try to kill 5 of them with head shots for the optional task.

Alternatively, if optional objectives don't bother you, you can just enter the caravan park with guns blazing and once it is all clear, you can plant the sticky bombs on the trailers at your own leisure.

Hop back in the car and drive for a few minutes until you reach the golden objective marker at the lookout overlooking Los Santos. Mosey on over to the target marker nearby for a short scene.

Afterward, return to the car and follow the GPS route to Wade's cousin's house. When you arrive, exit the vehicle and follow Wade upstairs to complete the mission.

Walkthrough:

Exit the house, hop in the car and follow the yellow GPS trail over to the target marker at Maze Bank Arena.

After arriving, look for the fellow with the clipboard near the car park. Punch his lights out for the ‘No, I can Park Here' objective. Climb the stairs and enter the building for a scene.

Following the scene, you will need to chase after a target. Follow him until you are back outside again. Run over and get into the Phantom (big rig truck) here. You will now need to follow the target vehicle until it comes to a stop.

During the chase, you'll have the opportunity to complete the other three optional tasks. You can do this by keeping the trailer attached to the rig for ‘All Hooked Up', staying close to the target throughout the chase for ‘Bearing Down' and reaching top speed in the Phantom for ‘Fastest Speed'.

It should be noted that it is very difficult to reach maximum speed in the Phantom and keep within a decent distance of the target with the trailer attached, so if you don't get it first try, re-play the level and detach the trailer (left on the D-Pad) before chasing the target down for the other objectives.

After you have chased after him for a minute or two, he'll pull up and at this point, a scene will play to end the mission.

Note: For completing this mission, you'll earn the ‘A Friendship Resurrected' achievement/trophy.

The Hotel Assassination

Start Location: Meet Lester at the Del Perro Beach

Walkthrough:

After chatting with Lester, hop in a car and drive over to the hotel. The objective marker will lead you to a parking garage opposite the exit. Once you arrive a countdown timer will start. Quickly turn around and climb to the very top of the parking garage. Hop up on top of the ledge overlooking the hotel entrance and pull out a sniper rifle.

Once the countdown timer reaches zero, the target will leave the hotel and get into the waiting vehicle. He is wearing a pink/red shirt. Shoot him as he emerges and quickly step backward to hop off the ledge out of sight and avoid detection.

Now exit the parking garage and leave the area to complete the mission.

Dead Man Walking

Walkthrough:

After the introductory sequence, you'll find yourself in a morgue. Hit the on-screen button prompt to wake up for another brief scene.

Note that all of the optional objectives in this mission (bar the mission time and health loss) require you to be fairly accurate with at least 14 headshots required for 'Headshots'. You also need to use Michael's focus ability and use it to kill at least 4 bad guys for the 'Focused Killer' optional objective – so keep that in mind as you proceed.

Once the scene is over, we will be weaponless. As such, sneak up and silently knock out the guard in front of you to grab his pistol. Continue into the room opposite and approach the bodies here. After inspecting both corpses, Michael will make a phone call. Soon afterward, the alarm will activate.

Make your way out of the room and pop the guy who comes to investigate. Follow the hallway around the corner and take cover. A good number of dudes will be in the reception area here and coming through the door directly ahead of you. Once it is safe to move up, keep going and enter the door that the agency grunts came from. Go through the door to the right of the open elevator and climb the stairs to the top. Kill the guy who emerges from the door here and then proceed inside.

Go through the open door across the hallway and ascend the next set of stairs, killing the guard who will come to meet you as you go. At the top, take cover behind the wall in front of you and take out the 5-6 enemies guarding the area. Inspect the green objective marker in the centre room for a trash bag containing all of your weapons.

Finally, work your way over to the yellow objective marker and shoot out the window. Jump through it to escape the building.

Killing our way out of the building has attracted the attention of law enforcement. As such we'll now have to evade the police until the three-star wanted rating vanishes.

Once you have lost the police, follow the yellow GPS trail to the oil derricks in El Burro Heights to end the mission.

Three's Company

Walkthrough:

Upon starting the mission walk over to the blue objective marker for a scene. After the scene has played out, make your way back to the street and get into the car with the blue marker. Follow the yellow GPS trail over to the target marker for the meeting point in El Burro Heights. As you arrive another scene will play.

When you regain control, you'll be flying a helicopter. Fly it over to the top of the building indicated by the objective marker. As you reach it, yet another scene will play.

Use the on-screen button tutorial to rappel down the side of the building until you can go no further and then press the indicated button to watch a scene through the window. Press the action button to smash through the button when prompted to do so.

Note that as with the previous mission, all of the optional objectives in this mission (bar the mission time) require you to be fairly accurate with at least 10 headshots required - so be sure to work on those as you proceed through the next section.

Once you are inside, switch to Franklin. Use the sniper rifle to pick off all the bad guys in the room. More will enter, so continue to eliminate them until no more show up. Switch back to Michael and clear out any remaining enemies inside the building that were out of Franklin's line of sight.

Now that they have all been dealt with, a group of helicopters will show up. Now you are free to switch between all three group members to take them down. Franklin is able to snipe pilots and take down a helicopter with a few well-placed sniper shots whilst Michael will hang out the side of the helicopter with an assault rifle with unlimited ammo. Michael is probably the better option in this situation, but the choice is yours!

After destroying all four helicopters, Trevor will fly us back to the mission start area. When we arrive a scene will play to end the mission.

Did Somebody Say Yoga?

Walkthrough:

This is an interactive button pressing sequence. Simply follow the on-screen button prompts to complete the various yoga poses. Note that you will have to complete each of the three poses perfectly to complete three associated optional objectives (‘Warrior', ‘Triangle' and ‘Praise the Sun') for the gold medal on this level.

After the third series of button prompts a scene will play.

Once you've completed the Yoga workout, go inside the house and climb the stairs. Enter Jimmy's room. After a brief conversation, follow him back downstairs and out the front door. Enter the car. Follow the yellow GPS trail over to the target marker at Burger Shot in Little Seoul. Once the short scene here has played out, return to Michael's house.

On the way back a scene will play.

When you regain control of Michael, follow the golden objective marker to return home. Enter the kitchen for a story sequence to end the mission.

Hood Safari

Walkthrough:

Once the mission has started, go over and get in the van. Follow the yellow GPS trail over to the target marker. Park the van and walk over to the target house. A scene will play.

After this goes down, all the gang members out in the street will become hostile and more re-enforcements will arrive to attack you. Follow your crew members and slowly work your way up the street staying in cover, killing enemies in close proximity and then moving up. Rinse and repeat.

Keep pressing forward. Once you have moved far enough up the street, some police will show up. Continue onwards until your crewmembers duck into an alley on the left. Follow them down the hill and into the sewer drain. Hop on one of the jet skis here.

Stay with your homies as you race through the sewers on the jet skis and keep on going until they split up. Follow either Lamar or Trevor. As you do, slightly different things will play out including the following:

  • Lamar: Police will start streaming down the dirt path in front of you and a helicopter will be firing at you from overhead.
  • Trevor: You will end up in a dead end with a ladder. Climb this to enter the main shipping port area the cops will not take long to show up in cars.

Either way you choose to play, we'll now have to evade the police until the three-star wanted rating vanishes. When we are all clear, follow the yellow GPS route to the objective marker. When we arrive the mission will be complete.

By the Book

Walkthrough:

After switching over to Michael, he will receive a call from the FIB. Follow the yellow GPS trail over to the target marker. Alternatively, you can switch to Trevor right away and Michael will show up soon after, saving you a few minutes on the drive.

Following the scene have Michael drive over to the first target location.

Once you arrive, switch back to Trevor. We need to torture Mr. K to get him to reveal more information to allow Michael and co to track down the real target. There are four torture methods at your disposal, each of which will require on-screen button prompts to execute. These include:

  • Tooth extraction with pliers,
  • Smacking him around with the wrench,
  • Electrocution and
  • Waterboarding.

Note that to complete the optional objectives, you must use all four of these techniques on him at least once and not allow him to have a heart attack. To do this, take your time between torture moves and monitor his health and ECG on the monitor between sessions.

If he does have a heart attack, use the on-screen button prompt to give him a shot of adrenaline to revive him.

After the first time you torture him, a little extra information will be sent to Michael who will have to drive to the second target location. Once he arrives, he will set up to assassinate the target from a distance based on the description tortured out of Mr. K. As such, continue to flip between Michael and Trevor until you have a solid description of the target.

Ultimately you want to snipe the guy on the far right of the lower level. He has a red shirt and a beard and will be leaning on the railing.

Once you have taken down the target, the game will switch you back to Trevor. Take Mr. K to the airport by following the yellow GPS route to complete the mission.

Scouting the Port

Walkthrough:

Hop into a car and use the mini-map and follow the yellow GPS route to reach the docks. When you reach the gate, wait for it to open and then cruise inside and to the left. Park at the target location.

Follow Floyd through the docks until you are told to get into a handler, do so. Drive the handler over to the shipping containers marked with the green objective markers nearby and follow the on-screen instructions to pick one up. Drive it over to the yellow objective marker and drop it off. Repeat for the other shipping container.

Once the second container has been dropped off, a new objective marker will appear on the mini-map. Run over and climb the crane here. After you reach the top, move to the yellow marker and you will have to pilot this vehicle as well. Pick up the two shipping containers, lift them as high as you can and transport them to the far end of the shipping line, align them and place them on the back of the awaiting trucks.

After loading both containers, Trevor will exit the cabin. Walk over to the vantage point nearby. We'll now be able to take photos of the ship docked ahead.

  • Take a photo of the front of the ship (Slightly to your right)
  • Take a photo of the guard patrolling the main deck.
  • Take a photo looking down the side of the ship towards the rear.

Once you have taken all three photos, you'll unlock the optional objective ‘Perfect Surveillance'. With the photos in hand, use the phone to send them to Ron.

Climb back down the crane to ground level. Hop in the nearby truck when Floyd tells you to. Drive this over to the next dock using the yellow GPS line to make things easier. Park it in the warehouse for a scene.

When you are back in control, leave the warehouse and grab a vehicle. Drive back to Floyd's place, Ron will call you along the way to fill you in on the result of your photos so be sure to answer his call if that interests you.

Upon entering Floyd's apartment, a scene will play to end the mission. At this point, if you didn't cause a ruckus and were able to move all of the required shipping containers without damaging them you'll earn the ‘Employee of the Month' and ‘An Honest Day's Work'.

You will also be given a choice as to how you want to proceed with the next mission - either 'Offshore' or from the 'Docks'.

Heist Setup: The Merryweather Heist

During the scene at the end of the ‘Scouting the Port' mission, players are given the opportunity to decide how they want to go about approach the next heist. Each of the options plays out slightly differently and will also require different setup mission to be completed before it can begin. Make the choice between 'Docks' or 'Offshore'.

The game will then introduce a number of new heist set up missions. There are two tasks in all for you – two if you choose the ‘Offshore' option and one for choosing the ‘Docks' option. You will find walkthroughs for each below.

Before any more missions, the game prompts us to have Michael go to the pilot training school and Franklin go to an Ammu-Nation shooting range. Optional of course, but still a good idea to get the hang of some controls we'll be using shortly.

Heist Setup: Minisub

Start Location: At the Port terminal in southeastern Los Santos.

No Boarding - Steal the submersible without boarding the boat.

Walkthrough:

Once the heist plan has been set, Trevor needs to do some preparation work before it can begin. If you selected the offshore mission option earlier, you'll receive an 'Hs' mission marker on the mini-map at the port terminal to go and steal a submersible.

Approach the mission start point. As you arrive, a blue objective marker will appear on the mini-map. You can see the submersible suspended from the side of the large ship here.

To get the gold medal for this mission, we'll need to shoot the cable holding it with the sniper rifle to drop it into the water (you'll need to find a location where you can get a good shot on it) which will earn us the optional objective ‘No Boarding'.

Alternatively, if you don't have a sniper rifle, or don't care about the medal you can go around to the side of the ship and enter stealth mode. Sneak up the stairs and knock out the patrolling worker when you get the chance. Make your way over to the green marker – there is a small control box on the wall here. Interact with this to release the sub.

Either way, once the sub is in the water, hop in after it and climb on board before entering the sub to steal it.

Now pilot the sub over to the target location marked with the objective marker and eventually, the sub will end up on the back of a truck. Drive the truck to the marked warehouse to end the mission.

Heist Setup: Cargobob

Start Location: At the military base - Fort Zancudo.

Mission Time – Complete mission under 5:30.

Walkthrough:

As with the previous mission, this mission is also marked with a 'HS' on the map and is required to do some set-up work for the heist. This one appears if you selected the offshore mission option earlier. This mission start marker is at Fort Zuncudo.

Drive over to the mission marker. As you arrive, a blue objective marker will appear on the mini-map to reveal the target vehicle. The problem? It's in the middle of the military base and the second you enter, you will be gifted a four-star wanted rating (lucky, you!). There are two entrances to Fort Zuncudo – one from the north and one from the south, both via boom gates and both entering via roads.

The easiest way to do this section is to drive through the boom gate and make a line directly for the chopper in the middle of the airbase area as quickly as possible. Whilst speed is of the essence, you also want to make sure to try and run over any soldiers that are in close proximity to the target who might interfere with Trevor hijacking the helicopter.

Once you are in the chopper, fly off – a military helicopter will fly after you but as long as you keep going as fast and as far as possible, it will eventually lose interest.

When you are no longer wanted, fly the helicopter over to the hangar at the airstrip in the Grand Senora Desert and land it at the indicated marker to complete the mission.

The Merryweather Heist

Start Location: Will automatically activate after completing all of the set-up jobs.

The Merryweather heist will automatically activate upon completion of all of the setup jobs for the heist. After a brief introductory scene, you will be good to go. As there are two different permutations to this mission based on the selection you made earlier, there is a walkthrough for each below.

The Merryweather Heist - Offshore

Start Location: Floyd's House at Vespucci Beach.

Initiated By: Franklin, Michael, Trevor

Optional Objective/s:
Salvager – Find the container within 2:00.
Weathering the Storm – Escape the pursuers in less than 4:00.
Show no Mercenary – Eliminate all pursuing enemies during the flight.
Mission Time – Complete mission under 14:30.

Walkthrough:

After the ‘briefing' you will be in control of Michael. Hop into a four-seater car and use the mini-map and follow the yellow GPS route all the way up to Sandy Shores Airfield. When you arrive, park at the target location.

Exit the car and climb into the helicopter. Lift off and hover over the submersible and use the hook to connect to it. Pick up the submarine and fly it out to the next target location. When you get close, release the submarine.

You will now switch to Trevor in the submarine. At this point, you will pull out your phone and the game will introduce you to a new app on it – Trackify. This will create a little radar screen in the bottom right of the screen which will mark your target with a red dot. Handy!

To progress with the heist, simply use the Trackify app to navigate to the red dot, dive to the very bottom of the ocean. Here you will find a cylindrical object with some flashing red lights on it. Run into this with the submarine to pick it up. If you can locate this within 2 minutes, you'll complete the 'Salvager' optional task. Once the object of interest is on board, take the submarine back to the surface.

As you near the surface, you will be prompted to switch back to Michael. Have Michael swoop down and pick up the submersible again and then start flying back to the airbase in Sandy Shores. After a short distance, military boats and helicopters will start chasing our crew and you will once again be prompted to change characters. This time to Franklin.

Franklin has access to machine guns on both doors of the helicopter and via the rear cargo door and is able to switch between them with a touch of the D-pad. Keep an eye on the enemy blips on the mini-map and target and destroy those in closest proximity before focusing your attention on other threats. Switch between windows and destroy all of the vehicles that you encounter. Destroying all of the pursuers will net you the 'Show No Mercenary' optional objective and doing so within 4 minutes will also complete the 'Weathering the Storm' objective as well.

Once the bad guys stop coming, switch back to Michael. When you reach the airstrip, release the submarine for a scene to end the mission.

Note: For completing this mission, you'll earn the ‘Subversive' achievement/trophy.

The Merryweather Heist – Freighter

Start Location: Floyd's House at Vespucci Beach.

Walkthrough:

After the ‘briefing' you will be in control of Trevor. Exit the apartment block and hop into a car and use the mini-map and follow the yellow GPS route all the way up to the bridge indicate by the objective marker. When you arrive, park at the target location.

Exit the car and run over to the open gate on the left side of the bridge. Go down the small set of stairs here to reach the next objective marker. After a brief scene, snipe the two guards on the deck of the ship.

During this next segment, we will be changing control between Michael and Franklin. Michael is sneaking about on the deck of the ship, planting bombs in four set locations indicated by objective markers whilst Franklin stays on the bridge and has the ability to cover Michael from a distance. During this stage, it's important to use Michael for stealth attacks whenever possible for the 'Ninja' optional task (you'll need 12 in total). Use Franklin when Michael cannot move up without getting seen and work on notching up headshots (we'll need 12 of the optional objective). Doing so carefully and utilising both characters will enable you to get across the deck without setting off an alarm for the 'No Alarm' optional task.

As Michael, plant the first bomb on the concrete pillar at the bow of the boat where we start. Switch to Franklin and cover Michael as he moves up to the near side of the ship. He should automatically plant the second bomb during this time. Keep your eye out further up the deck for additional security and eliminate them before they can spot Michael.

As Michael works his way up the deck, he should stop before each row of containers. You will need to eliminate the guard patrolling down the middle of each for Michael to continue. The first gap has a single guard; the second has two (with one on an upper level on the left side). At this point, Michael should plant the third bomb.

He will again return to the close side of the ship. Take out the guy at the top of the stairs leading down to the dock, the guard on the second floor of the stairs leading to the cabin above and the guy at the stern of the ship. A short scene will play as Michael enters the ship.

Afterward, a couple of cars will appear below you on the dockside and drop off a number of enemy soldiers. They will automatically know where Franklin is located and will attack as they exit. Kill the 8-10 guys here and a helicopter will show up. Quickly pop the pilot.

Michael will now exit via a doorway high up on the left of the ship and go down to the deck below. Snipe the guard that exits behind him and another hanging out around the corner in front of Michael. Now look back to the stern of the ship and snipe the pair of enemies there and then kill the second set of enemies guarding the stairs down to the docks.

After the scene, pull out Franklin's phone, go to the contacts section and choose the ‘Detonate' option. Call this to blow up the ship.

We'll now be in control of Michael again in a SCUBA suit underwater. You will note that there is a signal beacon activated on the mini-map. Make your way over to the source of the signal and a scene will play.

After another short scene, you will be in control of Trevor in the submersible. Drive it over to the green objective marker and touch the object to pick it up. At this point, a golden objective marker will appear on the map. Maneuver the submersible over to this location. When you arrive, pilot the submarine onto the golden ring for a scene.

Note: For completing this mission, you'll earn the ‘Subversive' achievement/trophy.
