Welcome to my guide for the Wii U game Splatoon. This guide is updated for the latest patch and have a complete list of weapons in the game. This guide will cover the most basic and foundational stuff you need to know when building up your character for the best performance online.
What's interesting about this game is all the combinations of weapons and clothes available. The weapons got different customization which gives different sub and special weapons, there are also a lot of different abilities so there are lots of different options and it can be difficult to have the best combination of ability and weapons.
You need to find your own way of combining your favorite weapon with the right clothes. Therefore this guide is meant to cover the basics, and push you in the right direction so you can create your own personal style in Splatoon!

There are two ways to play splatoon. With the gyroscope motion controller built-in the Gamepad or simply with the L / R Sticks.
In Splatoon you play Inklings which can switch between humanoid and squid form. They use their ink to travel fast or swim up walls. They will take damage and move slowly if they walk on another color ink. Inklings, strangely enough, are unable to swim in water.
The Gamepad screen is very usefull in this game. It shows you a map, the location of your teammates and location of keys in Hero Mode.

Before taking the battle online, new players might want to start with the single player part of the game. This is a great way to get used to controllers and learn how to use your color ink to your advantage. Here is a complete walkthrough of Splatoon single player campaign. I have also included the location of all the Sunken Scrolls in the game. There are five worlds with different levels and at the end you will fight against a big boss. You can start the single player campaign by going to Octo Valley. Here you will meet Cap'n Cuttlefish who will assigning you to rescue the Great Zapfish.
To rewiel the entrence to each level you need to shoot it with ink then jump inside with ZL. In the upper right corner of your screen is a count of Salmon Eggs. These can be used to upgrade your weapon, sub weapon and ink tank. You will find them by killing enemies or just lying on the ground in the missions. However the upgrade is only for Hero Mode and won't effect online mode.
The first level is right in front of you so just splash it with ink and enter.
Start by going straight to the launchepad and take it.
You will then Super Jump to another platform and you will face off against Octotroopers. Just shoot them and ink ramp so you can swim up on it in Squid form and reach the checkpoint.
Here you will meet a Octotrooper with a protection mask. Just hide in the ink and sneak attack from the back to kill it. Take the Lauchpad.
Now you meet three Octotroopers. There are walls to hide behind so use them to prevent getting hit by their ink. When you killed all three a lauchpad will appear in the center.
Here you meet one Octotrooper on higher ground with a mask. You can't sneak up behind him so just throw a Splat Bomb with R behind him. This will distract him so he turns around, now just shoot him in the back. After you kill it, another launchpad appears.
You super Jump to the next plattform where you meet even more Octotroopers. Like last time you want to distract the one with a mask with a Splat Bomb. When you kill them take the launchpad.
Prepare yourself as you will face up against a lot of Octotroopers. A good way to take them out is to ink your way to the top off the block and take them from above. Remember to shoot the box at the highest block for a Sunken Scroll! When you are done take the launchpad.
You will reach a checkpoint, take the armor in the box in front of you. There is two enemies here, just take them out and ink your way up. At the top you will see a key. Take out the Octotrooper and grab the key. Then head back and open the vault that reveals a launchpad.
Take the launchpad, kill the enemies and destroy the boxes to find another key.
Open the vault and jump up to the Zapfish. Shoot the barrier and grab it to complete the level.
Just walk straight ahead and splash the can for the next mission.
In this mission you are introduced to a explosive enemy. It will walk towards you and detonate. Shoot it, ink the wall and climb up to the first checkpoint.
The boxes here are explosive so shoot them from a distance. There is a ballon in the middle, shoot it and it will burst with your ink. Climb the wall to the top. Watch out for two explosive enemies. Shoot the ballon to ink the wall and climb it. Use the launchpad.
Now you meet a new enemy, they are called Rollers and will roll towards you. To defeat them, you have to drawn them in ink, then deal the final blow. Go up the wall and follow the path leading up, watch out from the rollers on the top. Just shoot them and continue to the cehckpoint.
Now it's time for yet another enemy. This thing is called Squee-G and cannot be killed. It won't hurt you, but it will suck up your ink like a vacuum cleaner. So you have to ink the wall and climb up as fast as you can. When you walk on the grate, look underneath you and you should see a platform. Turn to a Squid to fall down. Shoot the box and find a scroll, then take the launchpad to get back up. Then continue to the wall, ink it and climb up. There is a launchpad on the wall so you have to make a path of ink so you can reach it in Squid form.
On the next platform you will meet both Squee-G and rollers so be carefull. There is armor on top of the Squee-Gs. Shoot the baloons on the wall and climb to the top.
Reach the checkpoint and take the launchpad.
Kill the rollers and take another launchpad. Now you have to move on a narrow platform and rollers will spawn on it so be prepared to shoot them. Jump down and you will see a huge wall with Squee-G on it. You will see some boxes to the right, just shoot them and take the launchpad. Now you see the Ink Cannon, hold down ZL to use it. Shoot the enemies on top of the wall and ink it good. Remember there is a squee-G on the wall so you have to climb the wall quick before it vacuums your ink. Shoot the lightbulb and retrieve the Zapfish.
Use the path of ink to swim down. Kill the Octocopter and use the ink to jump to the other platform.There is two pillars you need to jump on to get to the other side. Ink the ground and jump to them in Squid form.
When you reach the platform, you meet more Octocopters. Just shoot them, then the box to find armor. Climb the pillar and shoot the round ball to use the Inkrail. Hold down the ZL to travel with the trail of ink. Reach the checkpoint and shoot the other Inkrail and travel to next platform. When you reach the next platform you meet more Octocopters.
Shoot them and jump to the other side. Here you get another checkpoint and an Inkzooka. Shoot the enemies with the Inkzooka and take the launchpad.
Jump down and kill the octocopters. On the right pillar there is a Scroll. You have to climb the left one and jump to the other pillar to reach it.
Jump down, ink the wall and climb up. Jump to the other side in Squid form and kill the Octocopters. Shoot the Inkrail and travel to the next platform. Reach the checkpoint and jump to the other side.
You will see a box, you will find armor inside it. Now you will meet a new enemy, the Octobomber. It will throw Splat Bombs at you so be carefull. Kill it, climb the platforms and take the Zapfish.
Now it's time for the boss, but before you do this you might want to upgrade your gear. Go to the big can and enter it.
Take the platform to jump to the boss area. Here you will fight a big square stamp, that will faceplant on top of you. Ink the side of the boss after faceplants the ground and climb up on top. Shoot the tentacle and you will automaticly jump off.
The second time the side of the boss will be in a Z pattern so it will be harder to climb it. Quickly ink the whole side of him and climb up.
The third time he will remove more of his side. It will also move from side to side. Climb up, shoot the tentacle and you won! Take the scroll and Zapfish to finish.
This will open the next area. Shoot the Inkrail and swim over.
Start by shooting the enemy on the small platform in front of you, then you shoot the tap and ride the gusher up to the next platform. Shoot the enemies, go to the checkpoint and take the launchpad.
Here you will be surrounded by three Octotroopers so be careful. Kill them and take the launchpad.
Now you will meet Octostamps. They will try to stamp you by jumping like the boss did. When the face is down, shoot and kill it. Ink the wall, climb it and meet two more stamps. Shoot the tap to activate the gusher so you can get up to the higher platforms. Here you will meet more enemies so watch out. A good tip for taking them out is shooting
the tap underneath so the gusher destroys them. When you have taken them out take the inkrail to the next platform.
Now you are on a platform with a lot of taps. A lot of Octotroopers will spawn so use the gushers wisely. When you killed them all a launchpad will appear.
Take the gusher up, then go to the tap on the left side and ride it up to the next platform. Now take the left gusher up, kill the Octotrooper on the box and take the scroll.
Go back down and take the other gusher up to the Zapfish.
Jump down and shoot the sponge to swim up to the next platform. Here's another sponge, shoot this one too.
Now you will meet enemies so be careful to not get splatted. Reach the checkpoint and shoot the sponges to climb up to the platform. Kill the Octotroopers and continue up to the launchpad.
Jump down, ink the wall straight ahead and climb up. Kill the rollers, shoot the sponge and climb up. Now you will see three sponges. Shoot ink on them all to reach the other side. When you get over to the bridge there will spawn some rollers so watch out. Kill them and take the launchpad.
On this platform it's a giant blue sponge. You have to get the Octotroopers on the wall to shoot the sponge so it will shrink. Then you turn into a squid and go through the grate. Shoot the box and take the scroll. Take the launchpad to get back up. Kill the Octotroopers, climb the wall and take the next launchpad.
Here is where it gets tricky. You have to shoot the sponges to reach the platform, but other Octotroopers will shoot and shrink the sponges so you might fall down. So be careful. When you're done take the inkcannon and shoot your way to the Zapfish. Jump on the sponges and retrieve the Zapfish.
Shoot the enemies and jump down. Climb the wall take down the enemies. Now walk to the propeller and stand on the platform it's on. Then shoot it to move up. Reach the checkpoint and walk to the next propeller. Ride it up and shoot the enemies from above. Now continue up to the checkpoint and kill the two Octotroopers.
Now you will see a bigger platform with a propeller. Don't get on it just yet. Shoot the propeller so the platform moves up then go underneath it to find a scroll. Take the launchpad back up and continue to the next launchpad.
Ride with the propeller from platform to platform and kill the enemies. Then take another launchpad. Now you are close to the Zapfish. You have to shoot blocks with propellers
to climb all the way to the top, but watch out for enemies.
Take the Zapfish and complete the mission.
In this mission there are some spreaders that ink the ground. So you have to shoot a lot of ink to make your path to the other side. Take the inktrail and shoot the box for some armor. Now shoot the octocopters and climb the wall. You have to be quick though because of the spreaders.
Now you reached a big wall where the trick is to shoot the baloon at the right time so the spreaders don't cover ut the ink. Swim up and take the inktrail to the first checkpoint.
Here you have to get though more spreaders. Kill the two octocopters, jump on top of the spreader and follow it underneath. Here you see a box with the scroll. Jump back on the spreader and take it back up. Climb the wall and reach the next checkpoint.
Jump down and shoot the baloon to take out the enemies. Continue farward and take the launchpad. Shoot the box for some armor and kill the Octotroopers, go around to the opening and jump down to the launchpad.
Now you will meet Octotroopers with spreaders spinning around. It can be helpfull shooting the baloon to destroy them. Jump on a spreader and go get the Zapfish.
This mission is on one of the multiplayer maps (Kelp Dome). You can see the zapfish on the other side of the map.
In this mission you meet Octolings which basically is like other players. They can turn into octopuses and swim in ink too.
Start by going to the left following the path of Salmon Eggs. Watch out for the octolings that jumps to you and attack.
You can pretty much take whatever way you want to reach the Zapfish, but before you get the Zapfish you want to find the scroll.
In the middle of the map there is a box containing armor. Find it and continue to walk towards the left side of the map where the Zapfish is located, the scroll is behind the pathway down from the grate bridge.
When you reach the Zapfish, use the inkrail to get up to it.
On this level you meet an Octostriker. If you are familiar with the Inkstrike, he will Inkstrike a location on the map, so you must watch out not to get hit the entire mission. You will see the location he will strike so try to avoid it.
Go down the path to the first checkpoint, then swim through the ink to reach the second checkpoint.
Now you are at a skatepark. Shoot the big box on the left side for armor. Kill the Octotroopers and continue forward to the third checkpoint.
Shoot the tap and jump on the gusher. Kill the Octotrooper that spawn. Now you will see a yellow grate, shoot the box underneath to get a scroll.
Continue straight forward and you will reach another checkpoint. Swim underneath the bars and jump down. This area is covered with purple ink, there are also a lot of Octotroopers and you need to watch out for the Inkstrike so be carefull.
Reach the checkpoint and ink the wall to climb up. There is a Squee-G so be quick. Shoot the baloon and take the launchpad.
Now you will fight the Octostriker. Shoot a path of ink so you can swim close and shoot him. Take the Zapfish and complete the mission.
Now you can take the boss. Before you enter you should spend your Salmon Eggs to upgrade.
This Boss will not move around like the first one, but it will shoot Ink balls at you. You can use the walls around the boss to protect yourself.
Shoot the small tentacle popping out, this is the weak spot. Then ink the side and jump to it so you can climb up and shoot the tentacle popping out from it's head. Be carefull not to fall down the moat around the boss when making the jump as you will die instantly.
Now he will get taller and you have to shoot two weak spots on each side for the tentacle to pop out of it's head. Ink the side like last time and jump.
Now he will have four weak spots. You have to be fast as they grow back out if you use too much time. Climb up and deal the finishing blow.
Grab the scroll and Zapfish.
Take the Inkrail and kill the Octotrooper. Take the next Inkrail to the launchpad. Take the third Inkrail, make a jump up on the platform and kill the Octotrooper. Take the fourth Inkrail, jump up on the platform and kill the two Octotroopers hiding in the ink. Take yet another Inkrail and now you are at the first checkpoint. Take the Inkrail, jump up from underneath the platform and kill the Octotroopers to reveal the launchpad.
Now you are at the second checkpoint. Ink the top of the wall and make a jump from the Inkrail to you your left to climb up. Kill the two explosive enemies, activate all the Inkrails and jump up with the help of the Inkrails. The Inkrail in the middle goes all around, and if you take it behind the wall you will find a Sunken Scroll. Go back, jump up and take the launchpad and reach the checkpoint. Kill the Octotrooper on the right side and sneak up or distract the Octotrooper on the left with a Splat Bomb before you shoot him. Climb the wall to the checkpoint and take the Inkrail.
When you jump down you are surrounded by Octotroopers. Hide behind the walls and use the Inkzooka to shoot them as it will go straight through walls. Take the launchpad to the final checkpoint. Take the Inkrail and continue all the way up to the Zapfish, you will meet Octotroopers on the way, but they are no problem dealing with.
In this mission there are invisible pathways. You have to ink the path to make it visible.
Start with shooting the baloon to spread ink all over the place. This will reveal the invisible path so you can continue.
Now you will meet two Octotroopers and a Octoling. There are two invisible blocks on your side of the edge, shoot around untill you find them. You can use these to hide from the attacks, but the fastest way is to find two invisible blocks hanging over the edge on your left and right side. Climb these, jump over and kill the enemies. Once you destroyed them, take the launchpad.
Keep shooting to reveal the path up, kill the explosive enemy and the stamp. Then you meet two Octotroopers and a Octobomber. Continue untill you reach the checkpoint. Now you you see two rollers on the top of a pillar. There is a invisible path up so they will roll down at you. Shoot the ground to make them drawn and finish them. After you killed the rollers go to the top, but don't take the launchpad just yet.
Before you take the launchpad shoot below to reveal a hidden platform, jump down and you will find a Sunken Scroll. Swim back up and take the launchpad.
Now you will face an invisible wall. Shoot it untill you see an opening on the right side, climb up and go through it. Kill the three Octotroopers and go up to the launchpad.
Now you have to walk on a narrow invisble path. Just keep it cool and take it slowly. There will spawn a Octotrooper now and then, but nothing you can't handle.
Once you are done with the acrobatics take the launchpad to a checkpoint.
There is one big Octotrooper in the ink so be carefull. Shoot the baloon to kill the other enemies and climb up to the final checkpoint. Shoot the box in front of you for armor.
Kill the Octotrooper and two more will spawn. Climb up, kill them and three more will spawn. Kill them from right to left and climb up. Before you make the jump be sure they haven't seen you, if they shoot you while you make the jump you fall down. The easiest way to take the last ones out is with Splat Bombs.
Grap the Zapfish and complete the mission.
In this mission you'll meet the Flooders. They aren't too smart, but they can spot you if you are in their vision and chase you. You can't kill them so just avoid them at all cost. If you are caught under it you die instantly.
Start by taking the launchpad. Go to the left and grab the key. (You can also see it on your gamepad)
Now continue straight ahead and open the vault. Take the launchpad and continue to the first checkpoint.
Climb up on the platform with the Flooders. Go to the left because that is the way the Flooders are moving. You will see two platforms, one on the left side and one on the right side. Go to the one on the right side and look below the other platform. You will see a Inkrail, but you have to shoot down to activate it. Take the Inkrail underneath and find a Sunken Scroll in the box. Take the Inkrail back up and go to the platform on the left side. It is possible to jump down directly from the left platform, but you might need a little more finesse to pull that off. Take the Inkrail to the second checkpoint.
Climb up and kill the two Octotroopers hiding in the ink. Remember to take the armor in the big box to the left. Now go to the small grate on the ground and use Squid form to get down. Now just walk past the vault and up to the third checkpoint. There are Octotroopers hiding in the ink here so be careful. You will find the key in a box up in the right corner. Grab the key and walk back to the vault. Walk on the platform and shoot the propeller to make it elevate. Kill the Octotroopers from above, jump down and take the launchpad to the final checkpoint.
Climb up to the maze of Flooders. There is also a Octotrooper walking around in the mace. Kill it to get the key back. You can see him as a small dot on your Gamepad. Retrieve the key, open the vault and take the Inkrail to the Zapfish.
Shoot some ink on the ground and swim under the net. Walk on the moving platform and slip under the net in Squid form. Continue forward and kill the two Octotroopers. Climb up and take the launchpad to the first checkpoint. Jump down on the moving platform and kill the Octotrooper. Be careful not to fall down when the platform moves. There are two more moving platforms and these got a lot of Octotroopers on them. Climb up when you reach the last platform and you see the launchpad. Remember to take the armor in the box on the grates under it. Now you can take the launchpad. To the next checkpoint.
Go to the right and around the corner you'll find some boxes. Shoot them and take the Sunken Scroll.
Now go back, kill the Octotroopers and climb up the walls. Now there is a moving wall in front of you, but you can't ink the side of it. Wait until the wall goes back in and ink the front of it. Jump up to the next platform, go under the net and jump to the launchpad to the final checkpoint.
Throw a Splat Bomb, kill the Octotrooper and walk over the moving platform. Soot the box for more armor. Kill the Octotrooper and climb up one moving platform at the time.Take it slowly and go into Squid form so the net don't knock you off. You will see three moving platform under the Zapfish. Don't try to climb it from the front. Climb the first platform from the front, then climb the next platforms from the side. When you are on the third platform, just jump and grab the Zapfish.
This mission is very simmilar to 08 Octoling Invasion. The mission takes place at the Skatepark map and you will once again face off against Octolings.
Just follow the Salmon Eggs and take out the Octolings. Climb up at the center off the map to get armor. Continue following the Eggs and reach the checkpoint.
Shoot the box and take the Inkzooka. Once you reach the tap, don't take the ride up to the Zapfish just yet. Go to the right on the narrow pathway and find a scroll around the corner.
Then head back and grab your Zapfish.
This is another Octostriker mission, so remember to watch out for the inkstrikes. You can hide in the ink to avoid getting targeted.
Start by following the path of Salmon Eggs to your left. Jump down and kill the Octobomber. Jump down and walk to the left to reach the first checkpoint. Don't jump down, just continue left and watch out for a Octotrooper. Then take a right turn and shoot the box for armor. Jump down and kill the two Octotroopers. There is also another armor in the box in front of you. Make a path of ink up to the Octobomber, sneak up in the ink and kill it. Shoot the tap to your right and take the gusher up to the next checkpoint.
You need follow the path of Salmon Eggs to the right, but there is a box with armor around the corner to your left. After you picked up the armor go back to the path of Salmon Eggs. Two Octotroopers are hiding in the ink here so be careful. Just continue straight to the checkpoint. Now you will see a box to your right, shoot it and take the Sunken Scroll.
Now turn around and follow the Salmon Eggs up the grates. Kill the Octobomber and take bubbler from the box on your left. Continue up the stairs, kill the next Octobomber and take the launchpad to the Octostriker.
It's the same as before. Get close to him and kill him. Use Bubbler if needed.
Grab the Zapfish and complete the mission.
This boss looks like a clam and he will roll towards you. Like the Rollers you have met before, you stop him by drowning him in your ink so ink the ground!
Once he stops, shoot the tentacle.
In the second phase the floor will start spinning. A good tip is to cover the middle with a lot of ink as it won't move so much. When you drown him, shoot the tentacle and move on to the third phase.
Now there are some areas on the stage that can't be inken. It will also spin like before, so make sure you ink the ground that is ink-able. Drown the boss, shoot the tentacle and complete the mission.
Jump down, kill the two Octotroopers, ink the wall, shoot the propeller and climb up.
Kill the Octotrooper and now you are facing a wall with a propeller on it. Stand on the left side and shoot the propeller to move the platform all the way out. Now ink the side of the platform and climb up, but you have to be quick. Jump to the small platform with armor and quickly jump to the other side. Kill the Octotrooper and take the Inkrail to the first checkpoint.
Now you see three Rollers. Before you jump down, ink the ground in front of them so it's easier to kill them. In the box behind them it's armor. Climb the wall and reach the second checkpoint.
Now you see three Octobombers. Stand behind the small wall, throw a Splat Bomb and kill them. In one of the boxes you find additional armor.
Now you want to shoot the propeller like last time and climb up. On this platform you meet two Octotroopers. Shoot the propeller to raise the platforms and jump up to the launchpad to the next checkpoint.
Shoot the Octotrooper and use the Inkcannon to shoot the propeller on the other side. Jump down on the platform and ride it back. Some Octotroopers and a Octobomber will spawn, but nothing you can't handle. When you are close enough to the wall, ink the left side and climb up on the highest point. When you are on the top, turn around and jump to the small platform for a Sunken Scroll. Jump back and take the launchpad to the final checkpoint.
Now you will fight two Octolings. Jump down on the left platform and take the Bubbler. When you killed the Octolings, take the launchpad and complete the mission.
In this mission you will meet a lot of Octosnipers. Be careful when you see the red sniper sight pointed at you. A good tip is to stay hidden in ink.
Take the launchpad and kill the two Octotroopers. Use a path of your own ink to sneak up to the Octosniper. Remember to use the walls to avoid being hit. Kill the two Octotroopers, the Octosniper and take the launchpad to the first checkpoint.
There is a Octosniper here, so use a path of ink to stay behind the walls. Kill the two Octotroopers and swim in ink to the left side of the wall to get on the moving platform. This way will make sure the Octosniper won't see you. When you are on the other side of the net, pop out and kill the Octosniper. Now jump to the other platform and reach the next checkpoint.
Use a Splat Bomb to distract the sniper, then sneak up from the other side and kill it. Before you continue you might have noticed the ropes on the ground. Turn to Squid form, go down and take the scroll. Climb back up and continue. Swim in the ink to avoid being spotted by the snipers. Kill the two Octotroopers and hide behind the wall, so you are out of sight of the Snipers. There is a path of ropes here, so be careful not to use Squid form on these. Kill the Octosnipers and jump on the moving platform. Take the launchpad to the next checkpoint.
This area is a bit tricky. There is a Octosniper on higher ground that got a good view over it's surroundings. There are also some Octotroopers walking around. To kill the Octosniper you have to ink the wall, jump on it, climb up and kill him. What makes this even harder is the Squee-G sucking up your ink. Stay hidden in your ink, go behind a small pillar and wait for the Sniper to turn around. Now you can ink the side of the platform his on, climb up and kill him unnoticed. Once you killed him take the launchpad to the next checkpoint.
Now you see another Octosniper. Stand behind the wall and ink one of the Sponges in front of you. Then swim in ink, jump to the sponge and to the other side unnoticed. Now hide behind the wall, but try to shoot the sponge in the middle without being noticed (Remember that the sponge shrinks if the enemy shoots it). When the sponge is big make a jump for it and kill the Octosniper. Take the launchpad and reach the final checkpoint.
In the boxes you will find some armor. Now you see a lot of Octotroopers and Snipers. Use your ink to stay hidden while you hide behind boxes. If you need to, use Splat Bombs for distraction. Once you killed all the enemies and reached the top, grab the Zapfish to complete the mission.
On this level you will see a lot of Spreaders again. Kill the Octotrooper on top of the first Spreader and walk to the next one. Kill the two Octotroopers and take the launchpad to the first checkpoint.
Ink the side of the platform and jump. Shoot the flying Octotrooper and jump to the small platform to your right for armor. Jump to the platform with the Spreader and kill the three Octotroopers. Jump to the bigger Spreader. Stand on the edge of the Spreader and ink the side of the smaller platform in the back. Make a jump for it and shoot the box to find a Sunken Scroll. Take the launchpad to get back. Now you have to climb a wall with a Spreader on it. Climb it quick so it don't wipe out your ink. Kill the Octotrooper, Jump to the small platform and take the launchpad to the next checkpoint.
Shoot some ink on the platform in front of you, take a jump, stay hidden in your ink and pop out to kill the Octotrooper. Then jump down to the next platform. Jump on the Spreader and reach the checkpoint.
Ink the pillar, climb up and kill the Octotroopers. One of them have a key, take it and open the vault. Take the launchpad to the final checkpoint.
On this platform you will fight against two Octolings. The first box you see have armor inside. Take the armor and kill of the enemies. One of them have the key, so open the vault and take the inkrail to the Zapfish.
In this level there are obviously a lot spinning platforms. They goes around slow so don't worry. Just walk down and you see one of them. On one side there is a Octotrooper, kill it and go to the other side. Now you see some explosive enemies, just shoot them, swim up and kill the Octotrooper. Get on the platform and stand on the side so you can jump up on the big red metal box. On top of this you see a box containing armor. Take the armor and kill the Octotrooper from above. Take the launchpad and reach the first checkpoint.
Climb up and kill the two Octotroopers. You see a big spinning box here, shoot it with ink and climb up. Kill the Octobomber and climb up to more spinning boxes. Now you should be at the second checkpoint.
Get on the big spinning platform, kill the Octotrooper and take the launchpad to another checkpoint.
Now you see a platform with one Octotrooper on each side. Kill them and go on the platform. Kill the four explosive enemies and reach the final checkpoint.
Climb the first platform and jump over to the next. Climb up on top of the wall and you should now stand on yellow grates. Underneath the grates a Sunken scroll is hiding in a box. Take the scroll and kill the two Octotroopers on the platform in front of you. Ink the next two spinning platforms to climb up to the top.
Take the Zapfish and complete the mission.
This level will be like mission 08 and 14. Only this time you meet Octolings with seaweed on their head. That mean they are extra tough!
Walk down the grates and one Octoling will superjump to your left or right. Kill the Octoling and follow the path of Salmon Eggs to the checkpoint.
Jump down and continue following the eggs, but be careful as more Octolings will attack. Climb the wall with Salmon Eggs and reach the next checkpoint.
Walk to the right and an Octoling will superjump on top of the square box. Kill it and continue following the eggs up the grates. Reach the final checkpoint and look for a big box with armor. Kill the last Octolings and you will see a Inkrail leading up to the Zapfish.
Before you take this, pay attention to the metal grates in front the Inkrail. Go underneath it and find a Sunken Scroll. Then get back up and take the Inkrail to the Zapfish.
This mission will be about the Octostriker. Like the last missions you have to watch out for the Inkstrikes. This map is the online map Urchin Underpass.
Follow the path of Salmon Eggs and shoot the boxes in the start area for armor. Continue following the eggs and slip under the fence leading into a back ally. At the end of the ally, there are two Rollers. Kill them and jump down to the central area. On the other side you see a lot of boxes and Octotroopers, on the right side you see metal can with the special Inkzooka. Take it and skill the Octotroopers on the other side.
Now continue until you reach a checkpoint. At the checkpoint go to the right and slip under the fence into another back ally. You will meet an Octobomber at the end of the path, kill it and take the scroll from the box.
Go back to the checkpoint and shoot the sponge. Swim in it and jump over the fence and kill the two Octotroopers. Now just follow the path of eggs until you reach the launchpad.
There is an Inkrail you can use to reach the Octostriker. Kill the Octostriker and take the Zapfish.
Remember to upgrade your gear with the Salmon Eggs you collected so far, before taking on the boss.
This boss is a bit harder then the last one. It will swim towards you at high speed like a shark, pop it's teeth under you and trap you inside.
You can avoid this completely by having a trail of ink ready for escape. However if you are trapped inside, you can get out by shooting the teeth and running out quickly before he eats you.
To beat the boss you need to destroy the teeth and throw a Splat Bomb inside the mouth. Then just shoot the tentacle.
Each time you do this the boss will get a set of stronger teeth.
Repeat two more times and the boss is dead. Take the scroll and Zapfish.
Just walk straight untill you see a box with four small arrows, like a pictureframe. Kill the Octotrooper and shoot ink in the frame to activate the switch. Climb up the wall and jump to the next platform. Shoot the frame to make it turn. There is a Octotrooper on the other side so be careful. Make a jump the the first checkpoint.
Grab the special to the right for Bubbler and take the launchpad. Now you will meet three rollers. After you kill them four Octotroopers will appear so it might be a good idea to use the Bubbler here. Kill them and take the launchpad to the second checkpoint.
Kill the Octotrooper and turn on the switch to your right . There will appear two Octotroopers when you activate the switch. Kill them and climb up, ink the switch on the other side to turn the boxes around. Two Octotrooper will appear. Don't take the launchpad. Jump over and climp up behind it to find a scroll before you continue to the next checkpoint.
On this platform you will meet three Octotroopers. After you destroy them two Octotrooper Snipers will appear. After you killed them take the launchpad to another checkpoint.
You have to be carefull with this platforms as they turn around when you stand on them, so try not to fall down the grate when you turn in Squid form. Kill the Octotrooper and shoot the frame above your head. Now you see three rollers in front of you. After you killed them, turn around and ink the frame behind you.
The wall comes down so you are able to climb it. You will see a Octotrooper on the side. On the top of the wall there are three more rollers, so be prepared. Now you reached the final checkpoint. Ink the frame in front of you to make the floating platform turn and reveal the launchpad.
On this platform you will meet three Octotroopers, after you kill them three more will appear with Flooders! Kill the Octotroopers, grab the key and open the vault on top of one of the Flooders.
Take the launchpad and complete the mission.
Shoot the balloon to spread ink to all the sponges. Now just use the sponges to jump up to the first checkpoint.
Jump down and two stamps will spawn. Don't stand on the sponges, stand on the solid ground. This is because the stamps make the sponges shrink, and you don't want to fall down. Kill them and take the launchpad to the second checkpoint.
Kill the Octotrooper by throwing a Splat Bomb. Now look underneath the sponges you are standing on. Shoot the sponge below, jump down to the platform and take the Sunken Scroll from the box. Climb back up and take the launchpad to another checkpoint.
Shoot the two sponges, jump down and take the Inkzooka. Don't use it yet. First kill the closest Octotrooper, then shoot the next two sponges. Swim to the second sponge and kill the next Octotrooper. Now use the Inkzooka to kill the three left. When you're done, continue up and take the launchpad to the next checkpoint.
Shoot the box on the right for armor. Now shoot the balloon to ink all the sponges. Jump from sponge to sponge and climb the wall. Now you see an Octobomber. Shoot the balloon to ink all the sponges, then swim unnoticed to the Octobomber and kill it. Climb the wall to the left and reach the checkpoint.
Now you've come to the hard part of the mission. There are two Octobombers and a lot of sponges. You will have to try avoiding the Splat Bombs and not fall down at the same time. My best advise is to shoot the balloon, jump on the sponges in Squid form to the solid ground and kill them quickly. Once you killed the Octobombers, shoot the two sponges to reach the launchpad. Take it to the next checkpoint.
Shoot the balloon, jump to the sponge, climb up to the solid platform and kill the Octobomber. Now you see two more sponges to climb, but there is one Octobomber flying over them. This climb is very hard to do because if you jump to the first sponge and then shoot the other one, there is a high chance the Octobomber will throw a Splat Bomb on the second sponge. Which can result in you falling down when it shrinks. After you made it, climb the wall and reach the checkpoint.
Ink the Sponge and jump in it. Ink the wall, jump, swim down to the launchpad and take it to the final checkpoint.
Shoot the box for a Inkzooka. Jump down and kill the two Octolings. Take the Launchpad to the Zapfish.
Walk past the two spinning Pinwheels and continue straight ahead to the launchpad. Take it and reach the first checkpoint.
Jump down, kill the Octotrooper and grab the armor from the box. Now ink the narrow path to your right. Swim to the two Octotroopers without being noticed. Kill them, jump over and take the Inkzooka. Use the Inkzooka and kill the other three Octotroopers. Jump over and continue up to the Inkrail. Take it and reach the checkpoint.
Jump down and climb up the wall. Walk straight ahead and kill the Octotrooper. Jump on the spinning Pinwheel and jump over to the small platform on the left. There is a Sunken Scroll in the box. Take it and use the launchpad. It will take you to the next launchpad, and this one will take you to the next checkpoint.
Shoot the boxes in front of you and get the armor. Behind the boxes there is a Octobomber. Kill it and jump over to the narrow platform. There is a Octotrooper hiding in the ink so be careful. Now you see a Inkzooka in front of you, swim underneath the ink and get it. Come out and two Octotroopers will come out of the ink. Use the Inkzooka and kill them. Jump over and reach the next checkpoint.
Jump down on the Pinwheel and continue to the next Pinwheel. Ink the Pinwheel and make a jump. If you fall down you can take the gusher back up, so don't worry. When you get to the top, take the launchpad to the final checkpoint.
Jump on the moving platform and kill the Octotrooper on the Pinwheel. Jump on the next moving platform and kill the Octotrooper. Jump off and kill the two Octotroopers ahead. Ink the Spinwheel on the wall and climb up to the Zapfish
This mission have alot of flooders so it won't be easy. Remember you can see the flooders, the key and vault on the Gamepad.
Take the first launchpad, then climb up on the platform with flooders. Go to the right and continue to the edge. Then turn left and you should see the key. A enemy will spawn, kill it and go straight ahead and open the vault. Take the launchpad to a checkpoint and jump to the other roof. There are some boxes in front of you, shoot them to find armor. Jump to the roof on your left and you see a launchpad. DON'T take this! Jump down behind it and find another launchpad.
Take it to small platform with a box in the middle. Be carefull not to fall down. Inside the box you'll find a scroll. Take the scroll, shoot ink on the wall in front of you and make a jump for it, climb up and take the launchpad to the next checkpoint.
Now you see a vault in front of you. Go to the right and climb up to the platform with the flooders. The key is in the upper left corner of the platform. Once you got it, return back to the vault.
Now open the vault and ride the gusher up. Jump to the checkpoint and now you need to jump on the roofs to reach the next vault. The key is held by the Octotrooper Sniper. Retrieve the key and open the vault.
Take the launchpad and grab the Zapfish.
This is another mission where you have to fight Octolings. The map is Saltspray Rig. You might be familiar with it from online Turf War.
Follow the Salmon Eggs. You will see a wooden box, an Octoling will superjump on top of it. Kill the Octoling and continue follow the eggs. Jump down and shoot the boxes for an Inkzooka. Another Octoling will jump to you so be careful. Kill it and walk to the checkpoint.
To your left you will see two boxes stacked on top of each other. Shoot them and take the armor. Continue on the path and another Octoling will appear. Kill it then look at your left and you should see a Inkrail. Ignore the Salmon Egg path and take the Inkrail. Go straight ahead and an Octoling will superjump to you. Kill it, go to the smaller platform (which is the spawn point in Turf War) on the right side and shoot the box. Take the Sunken Scroll and jump back down to the path of Salmon Eggs. Continue until you reach the checkpoint and an Octoling will superjump to you.
Kill it, shoot the box on top of the wall and take the armor. Kill the next Octoling and walk to the final checkpoint.
Three more Octolings will spawn. Kill them, climb up on the metal boxes and take the gusher to the Zapfish.
As you might guess, it's time for the Octostriker again! This will take place on the map Blackbelly Skatepark.
You will see a balloon on the left, shoot it and grab the armor. Now kill the Octosniper and go to the pillar in the middle of the map. Climb up to the checkpoint and take the key.
Go back down and continue going on the left side. You should now see a baloon with boxes around it and two green objects blocking the path to the right. Shoot the balloon, take the Bubbler and ink the narrow side of the wall that didn't get inked by the balloon. You can swim up here and slip over the green objects. Shoot the Octosnipers, climb up on the right side and you will find a Sunken scroll.
Look behind you and you should see a box on the yellow grates. Shoot it and take the armor inside. Shoot the balloon to make a good path up to the Octosnipers. Swim up and kill them.
Open the vault and take the launchpad up to the Octostriker. Jump down and take the Zapfish.
Now is a great time to upgrade your gear before the final showdown.
Prepare yourself for a long fight. This boss is ALOT tougher then the others.
At first he will shoot out missiles at you. He will keep this up the whole fight so be careful of the missiles. Try to avoid them or simply just shoot them.
Then he will use his arms to hit you. You need to shoot the arm before it hits the ground to bounce it back at him. When you do this it will push him away, so you need keep pushing him farther away to proceed. It's not a good idea to go to close though.
When you pushed as far as you can, he will send out a flying subwoofer at you. Shoot it to bounce it back at him. Then he will bounce it back at higher speed. Do this three times and it will take the fight to the next phase.
Take the launchpad to the first checkpoint.
In the second phase he will have another trick up his sleeves. Now he shoots out a laser that will kill you instantly, so you better avoid it completely.
Bounce the arm back to push him away and jump on the platform with a propeller to move to the next platform. Shoot the box on this platform for armor.
Push him further back and take the next platform with propeller to proceed.
The box on this platform has the Sunken Scroll, so make sure you take it. When you pushed him further take the next propeller platform. He will again send out the big subwoofer and you have to bounce it back three times like before.
Take the launchpad and reach the second checkpoint.
In this phase the boss will start to shoot out red balls. If you don't destroy them before they hit the ground, enemies will spawn.
Shoot the sponge and get on the other side. Shoot the box and take the armor inside it. On this platform there will spawn Octotroopers. When you pushed the boss further back, climb the sponges to the higher platform. In the box you will find an Inkzooka. Use it to kill the Octotroopers and bounce the arm back with one hit.
When you pushed him further back, shoot the sponges and jump to the next platform. There are three balloons here. They are very useful, as they kill Octotroopers and bounce the arms back instantly. When the time is right move to the next platform. Here you will find a box with armor.
The Subwoofer will bounce faster and phase so be careful. Bounce it three times, take the launchpad and reach the third checkpoint.
In this phase he will start shooting four missiles at you! After you pushed him back, shoot ink on the ground to reveal a invisible path. There is a gap here so jump to the other platform and take the armor in the box.
Push him back more and ride the gushers up to the next platform. Shoot the box here for an Inkzooka. Now you have to use your acrobatic skills as the path to the next platform is narrow and invisible. Walk to the end and ride the gusher up to the platform above.
Use the balloon here to your advantage. Bounce the subwoofer back three times and take the launchpad to the final checkpoint.
Push the boss back and take the Inkrail to the next platform. Grab the armor and push him back further. Then take the next Inkrail. Shoot the box on the right side for Bubbler.
Push him further back and take the Inkrail. Shoot the box in the middle for armor. The path ahead is narrow and he will launch missiles, spawn Octotroopers and shoot lasers at you at the same time, you have to be alert. Try to move under the ink as the laser will shoot at the last location he saw you.
When you have pushed him all the way back he will send out the subwoofer again. This time it will move incredibly fast so be prepared!
Bounce it back three times like before and strike the final blow!
Congratulations! You have completed the campaign!
In the southeastern corner of Inkopolis Plaza there is a amiibo case. When scanning an amiibo it will pop up inside the case and introduce itself. Each amiibo features twenty challenges, but you must have completed Hero Mode to actually be able to play the challenges. There are three different amiibos and if you don't want to buy them all I suggest reading the following so you can choose the one that suits you the most. You will get a outfit, mini-game and weapon by completing all the amiibo challenges.
The Inkling Boy amiibo can be used to unlock Roller challenges in Hero Mode. The challenges must be completed with the Splat Roller and the reward for completing all challenges is the Samurai outfit, weapon blueprints and the mini-game Squid Racer. If you like to play with the Splat Roller this is the amiibo for you, for those playing inkling boys (like myself) you would probably prefer the Samurai outfit over the school girl outfit that comes with girl amiibo.
