Act 1 - Part 1

December 1st

When you can control Rean, the first thing added is the ability to quick travel under the navigation menu. Head down to the general store and speak to Raio the shopkeeper on the right. The game will let you know about weapon synthesis and unlocking Orbment Slots. The Orbment system requires you to upgrade slots to equip stronger types of Quartz. Then speak to Camillia, watch the event scene, she will let you trade items, this is similar to the pawn shop function from the previous game. (If this is your second playthrough, she will let purchase Zemurian Ore Shard for 50 U-Materials). You can speak to Luke near the wreckage of the station for some Tear Balms. When you all set to go, leave town through Ymir Canyon.

Lunaria Nature Park

After the event scene, you will be warped into Lunaria Nature Park. Head south to Lunaria Nature Park 3. The game will let you know that this area contains high elements, which means Time, Space and Mirage elements have effects on monsters here, there is also an additional type of bonus effects on turn order which can be an advantage or disadvantage for your party. Head down to the southeast corner to pick up a Stone Brooch in a treasure chest, then continue all the way to the southwest path. On the very southwest corner of the map contains some Sepith Mass in the treasure box. Then head to the exit located southeast to Lunaria Nature Park 2.

The path will split into two ways, head to the west end to get a Teara Balm from the treasure chest, and a fishing spot is also near this area. Afterwards, go to the east end to get Citrus Bottle from the treasure chest. Then take the bridge south and go all the way to the west corner to find a Scepter Master Quartz in a monster chest. Then head to the opposite end, by the east area for an EP Charge II. After that go to the south exit of the map to go to Lunaria Nature Park 1.

Head south, and go to the east side of the map to the northeast corner to find a HP 1 in a treasure chest, then head south, and go all the way to the southwest corner to get some Sepith. Then they the center path south, when you reach near the end of the park, you will see an Orbment Charging Station. Leave the park to face a boss battle.

As soon as this battle start, the game will let you know about the Overdrive function, which is highlighted through the small circle gauge at the upper right corner of the screen. Using Overdrive will restore the linked character's HP, EP, CP, and three extra turns. During Overdrive, Arts are cast instantly and attacks will cause an unbalance. This is a very powerful function that can be used to exploit bosses. Activate Overdrive by highlighting the attack icon and hold the Right button when the icon changes, press the confirm button to do Overdrive. Buff up your characters and attack the boss. The boss has a few abilities, from buffing itself, to paralyzing your characters with Seal or hitting a single target really hard. I recommend using Toval's wind magic against this boss, as he can cast them real quick, and have Rean use Autumn Leaf Cutter or Arc Slash to delay the boss. If you max out CP, save your S-Craft when Boss' HP is low.

West Celdic Highway & East Trista Highway

After you have defeated the boss, leave the park, and then go inside the farmhouse on the east side of the map. Speak to the residences there for a small event. Leave the farmhouse, and head south, there is two treasure chest around the southwest corner of the map. Once you have picked up the two treasures, take the south exit for a short scene. Head west and pick up the treasure chest near the small tower and take the southwest exit to go to East Trista Highway. This is a very short area, there is a total of three treasure chest you can pick up along with a fishing location to the west, once you go near the bridge an event scene will play out, Rean will notice a bunch of guards being stationed there. Leave Trista Highway by returning to West Celdic Highway and take the southeast exit to Celdic.

When you enter Celdic, there will be three key event locations for you to visit. They are all marked with a red exclamation mark on the map.

  • Becky - Celdic House (Near West Celdic Highway entrance)
  • Margot - Weathercock Inn (Behind the counter)
  • Rosine - Grand Market

After you have spoken to the people listed above, an event scene will occur in Celdic. Rean will buy an issue of the Imperial Chronicle Issue #2, read through it and exit out of the reading menu, an event scene will ensue. Now go to the Grand Market, purchase Gambler Jack Reprint #2 and Black Records #2 (Second Playthrough only) from Cornette (Shop located on the center in Grand Market).

Then go to the Chapel and speak to Old Lady, Moulbaix on the west end of the Chapel, she will teach you the Fresh Vegetable Juice recipe. Now leave town by going to East Celdic Highway.

Speak to Tarim, he's a NPC near the farmhouse, he will give you a copy of Gambler Jack II Chapter 1, these books have a very small time frame to obtain them. Each book must be obtained immediately, collecting all 14 volumes of Gambler Jack II can let you exchange for the strongest weapon later in the game.

Note: If you have missed a Gambler Jack II, you can still purchase them from a trading store using the Inspect Curios function. However, this method is unreliable and entirely luck based.

Now go to the bridge on the southeast of the map, there is a fishing spot right here. A treasure chest is located just a little bit past the bridge, open the chest for an event scene, Rean will find an Old Key. Now go to the windmill on the center south of the map. Watch the event scene, after that, Machias will join your party. Return back to Celdic.

After you have finished the request listed above, exit out of Celdic by going to East Celdic Highway and then enter the Windmill at the south area of the map. Examine the communication device, select the second choice to advance the story forward. After the event scene, you will need to rendezvous at Point D with your party members. Point D is located on East Celdic Highway 3. You can go to East Celdic Way 3 by taking the east exit of East Celdic Highway 2.

East Celdic Highway 3

Pick up the Sepith Mass at the treasure chest directly at the northeast corner. Then head for Point D immediately, because you will get two party members to join you. Point D is Located at the Northeast end of the map. When Elliot and Fie join your party, the game will let you know that the Overdrive function will only work between Rean and his friends, for the rest of the class, you will need to overcome trials found in Monster Chest to use the Overdrive function between them. Now that you have a full group, the game will let you use the Burst function during Link attacks and also the ability to switch party members in battle. Go back west to the center area, your next destination is the Twin Dragons Bridge, which is located at the southeast exit and the southwest exit. If you take the southwest exit, you will find a Monster Chest that contains a Gladiator Headband. Pick up all the treasure chests on the southwest area of East Celdic Highway 3. At the southwest end of the map lies a blue treasure chest. These treasure chests are known as Trial Chest, it's a monster chest that forces you to use a prearranged party, if you clear it, you will unlock the Overdrive function between them and also some Link EXP. For the upcoming Trial Chest, it is highly recommended to equip Faint Resistant accessory for the fight, it will make your life much easier. When you're done take the Southeast exit to Twin Dragons Bridge.

You should have found one by now, there is one from a treasure chest in Lunaria Park, which is the Citrus Bottle accessory. Each mole can cause faint with one of its attack, have full CP before you start this fight, wait till all the moles gather at one spot, so you can finish them off with your S-Craft and then focus on the main boss. If you do not have S-Craft ready, then use Machias' Petrify Shell to hit as many enemies as possible. I would suggest using Elliot's area attack arts and also as your main healer.

This is actually an unwinnable battle. But to get the bonus AP, you need to reduce one of the boss's HP to 30% HP or below by 40 turns. The best way to do this is to have a full CP party and focus on one. You should attack one of the bosses first, and reduced a chunk of their HP, then use Rean to buff your entire party, and your S-Craft with everyone. Then use your Overdrives. When all those commands are used up, your party members should focus on using AT Delay skills such as Rean's Arc Slash and Fie's Bullet Cyclone. Use Elliot as your main healer. When the boss has less 50% HP left, they will use their S-Craft on you, which can deal roughly 70% of your health, so be careful during this phase. Xeno can also lay mines, if you want the battle trophy, make sure you can scan one of the mines as well.

If you manage to meet the bonus AP condition from the previous battle, a message will pop saying your AP has increased by 3. After this, you will participate in another boss battle.

The backup pilot can also do three things, EX Arts which is abilities based on them, Spirit (Restore HP but requires EP) or Charge (restore EP). You can switch to a different partner by pressing the R Button. This battle has a gun type Drakkhen. The gun-type Drakken has a different weakness, attack the Head during its idle stance and attack the body when it uses an offensive stance. When you win this battle, you will get a 100 Link EXP between your partner.
