Pyrogen
Pyrogen is Mighty No.1 and I personally choose to take him down first. He is tough and is weak to Gyro's Ability. Gyro is probably just as tough if not harder than Pyrogen, so pick your poison on who you want to take down first in Mighty No.9! Pyrogen's level at first attempt can also be a little difficult towards the end. Specifically, as I will mention again the Oil Platforms. These come crashing down and with tons of other enemies in the way, this can spell Game Over for many players. Be extra careful in the Oil Platform section but do not be slow either.
Pyrogen as a boss is also pretty tough, especially since we are using just the Beck Buster. First, players should know the moves and the telegraphed callouts Pyrogen will use before doing them. The first one is "dash" when Pyrogen uses this move, Beck should jump and Dash over the fire then follow up with Beck Buster shots from behind. "here it comes" means Pyrogen will rush at beck, once he is close enough to Beck, Pyrogen will explode. To avoid this, get close quickly, and then dash away just as quick!
Finally, Crush is a tough one! Players should dash underneath Pyrogen to avoid the crush, all the while watching his movements on the game screen. About halfway through the fight, Pyrogen will glow with a Blue Flame. He is extremely dangerous and flammable in this form! If Pyrogen grabs Beck by being too close. Beck will be bear hugged and then Pyrogen will explode on beck for a one-shot kill! Players should be extra sure to extinguish the flames by playing it safer and dashing into Pyrogen when he turns Purple.
Oil Platform - Normal -- S-Rank
- Cryosphere ( Frozen Liquid )
- Aviator ( Gyro Boomerang )
For the S-rank, I suggest using Cryosphere mainly in this level. Also on direct change have of course Beck Buster. Finally, for the boss and possibly the falling oil tower section, have Gyro Boomerang or Aviator's power. Remember the oil towers crash scene the orange sections are usually safe. You will have to dodge, but they can't one-shot kill Beck like the towers can. There are two fine plays. Remember the dash has no fine play. Crush, and here it comes which is the large proximity explosion do have fine plays. Be sure to get them as that will equal 6000 more points. The Combo is a huge factor in this level and it's easier to get some other levels like Water Works Bureau so go for it.
Sprinter Bonuses:
- From the first falling pillar and then all the way to the iron bars underpass.
- From the iron bars underpass all the way to the end of the stage.
Fine Plays:
- Using Beck, dash into Pyrogen only when he is purple. Do this right after Pyrogen says "Crush!".
- Using Beck, dash into Pyrogen when he is purple. Do this right during the "Here it Comes" move.

ξ Fire Explosion! ξ
Hold down the attack button to gather power, then release it to unleash an explosion around Beck. A small meter will appear around Beck. This determines the increase in the diameter and power of the explosion with each level. Beck can use this attack when hanging from a wall, or dangling from a Sky Hook. Beware however, if the Pyrogen meter fills completely Beck will overheat! Beck will then lose his ability to move for a while after attacking. Watch that meter!
