I like to start off this level using Seismic power. It can really save you tons of time if you have it hot keyed as well. I have seen most runs are around 5:30 seconds. I have cut mine to around 4:30 seconds still getting the S-RANK. You may have trouble with energy here, it's a huge factor this is a tough level physically and dying can be a problem. Be sure to use your extra health. You should gain at least one extra health as you progress through the level, press select to use it.
Once you reach the enemy arena, be very quick here and start off with Battalion. Switch to brandish and pick off the rest of the enemies, when your combo seems to be losing its chain. Battalion is great and easy, but sometimes especially in this section, you can lose your combo. Aim for a 70 combo by the end of this level. I sounds a little high but you need over 75,000 points/score to get the S-RANK here.
With that being said you want the quick clear in the enemy arena outside area mentioned above. That should net you around 5,000 points, just make sure to keep that combo going. Next thing to know is you can get a sprinter bonus if you move pass the blue worm like robot enemies down the rotating escalators fast enough. When you get to the hidden wall the block inside it. Be sure to blow up the gray military cargo block. Jump into the alcove while you are on the top escalator. Collect the health and one-up as well as quickly chain the flying enemy. When you drop down be sure to avoid the fire "X" mine on the floor. If you do you can get an Amazing rating for another 2,000 points.
Finally, and most importantly is the boss battle. I say this because Battalion's fine plays are not too hard to accomplish, but they are a bit sneaky to figure out. Know that if you press down on the D-Pad, Beck will slide lower than normal. This is an excellent hidden mechanic/trick to learn. You can actually slide under Batallion's machine gun shots for a 3,000 point fine play. Further more you can slide under his huge turret shot for another 3,000 points.
These tips and trick will help you get the S-Rank. I had over 75,000 points and got it. My combination was 70, Xel Absorb 100%, my damage was high so I got no points for that. Most importantly the fine plays on the boss really gave me the win. I was hitting 68-70k often and with both fine plays and nice speed due to using Seismic I pulled it off. So can you, so be a hero, like this guide, share this guide, and go yellow!
Sprinter Bonuses:
- The first bonus is through a taller room, this room has some conveyor belts and several explosive barrels.
- The falling boxes should be your key to start sprinting. Do this until you reach the oil drums for a sprinter bonus #2.
- When Battalion comes in over the voice com, start sprinting through tons of platforming jumps and obstacles for #3.
- Finally, from the shaft with two ledges, you can sprint all the way through the end of the level.
Fine Plays:
- First, slide under Battalions machine gun attack by holding down on the directional pad and dashing.
- Second, do the same low dash technique as before, except do this under Battalions large missile or turret attack.
