According to Working Designs president Victor Ireland, the high difficulty of the American release was a communication mistake between him and Japanese programmers. Ireland noted the Japanese version was notably easy and wanted to only slightly increase the difficulty for American players. The Japanese programmers allegedly misunderstood Ireland and increased the difficulty exponentially. Ireland wanted to correct this mistake, but Turbo Technologies Inc. notified Ireland to release the game as it was as the deadline was fast-approaching. Victor Ireland has publicly stated that he regrets the American localization.
