It has been said that there are two sides to everything and that a person is either a hero or a villain dependent upon the outcome. A great example of this is Benedict Arnold during the American Revolution. Americans see Arnold as a traitor, but to the King of England Arnold was a hero and rewarded thusly when he returned to England.

The same sort of thing can be said for another person of renown, a man known simply as Mario. Sure Mario is a plumber that has been a seemingly fun loving hero since the beginning of his career, saving women from gorillas and dragon/dinosaur hybrids and taking time out to go riding in cars with friends and competing in the Olympic games. But is Mario really the hero we all think he is?? How well have people looked at our "hero" under a microscope, from an objective viewpoint of his actions? If you scrutinize Mario's activity's he is a hardened criminal, with a laundry list of crimes under his belt!

In this top ten list I am going define the crimes, provide evidence of said crime and sentence Mario for his crimes, starting with less severe crimes to the absolute worst of crimes. I'll keep a tally and at the end I will determine the amount of fines and time that would be served if Mario were to be arrested and charged for his heinous criminal activity. He will not be charged with multiple counts but Mario will be given the maximum penalty for each crime. Let the judgement begin!!!

Definition: Often defined as a mental state in which the driver displays a wanton disregard for the rules of the road; the driver misjudges common driving procedures, often causing accidents and other damages.

Evidence: On the 27th of August, 1992 Mario was shown engaging in reckless driving. He displayed aggressive speed on multiple occasions i.e Donut plains, Koopa Beach, et al. and used banana peels causing other drivers to lose control of their vehicles and spin out. The charge of littering is ignored in pursuant of the more serious crime of reckless driving.

Judgement of the court: Reckless driving is a Class C misdemeanor. Mario is sentenced to 30 days in jail and a fine of $200.

Definition: Street racing is a form of unsanctioned and illegal auto racing which takes place on public roads. Street racing can either be spontaneous or well-planned and coordinated.

Evidence: Mario's second charge is street racing. On the 14th of December 1996 Mario was witnessed driving recklessly on Toad's Turnpike using excessive amounts of speed with other "racers" in illegal street racing activities. Mario is seen weaving in and out of traffic, with no regard to the life and limb of other drivers on the road.

Judgement of the court: Street racing is a class B misdemeanor. Mario is sentenced to180 days in jail and a fine of $2,000 and his license is suspended for one full year.

Definition: Domestic violence is any violent, threatening, coercive or controlling behavior that occurs in current or past family, domestic or intimate relationships.

Evidence: On April 26th, 1999 Mario was witnessed committing domestic violence against his brother Luigi. The court has reason to believe that this is not the first time Mario has committed violence against his younger brother, and that Mario has used violence and threats of violence to keep Luigi under his thumb. Further evidence can be seen by Luigi being forced to stay home and "protect the house" in Paper Mario.

Judgement of the court: Domestic violence is a Class A misdemeanor in this instance. Mario is sentenced to 1 year in jail and a fine of $4,000.

Definition: The intentional infliction by humans of suffering or harm upon any non-human animal, for purposes other than self-defense or survival.

Evidence: On August 20th, 1982 let the record show that Mario intentionally committed the crime of animal cruelty against a gorilla known as Donkey Kong. Mario captured said gorilla sometime between July 9th, 1981 and August 19th, 1982. Upon capture Mario kept the animal in an extremely small cage, roughly the same size as said animal. Mario shows no evidence of proper maintenance and care of the animal as no food or water is given to the animal while in Mario's unlawful custody. He commits even further atrocities by sending slave animals to do his bidding against the offspring of Donkey Kong, who merely is attempting to rescue his father.

Judgement of the court: Due to the charges of animal cruelty by depriving an animal of food, water, shelter and torture, this is classified as a Third-degree felony. Mario is sentenced to a year in jail and a fine of $20,000.

Definition: Injury to real or personal property through another's negligence, willful destruction or by some act of nature.

Evidence: The fourth charge pending against Mario is the destruction of property. Mario on several occasions was witnessed destroying the property of the "Koopa Kids" on the 21st of November 1990. Mario broke into the residences of the 7 "Koopa Kids", assaulting all of them. After his assault was finished, Mario proceeded to head outside and destroy the residences in one of several different ways, from blowing them up with explosives to ripping them off their foundation. Estimation of one castle is between the amount of $20,000-$100,000.

Judgement of the court: Due to the value of the properties this is a Second-degree felony. Mario is sentenced to 20 years in state prison and a fine of $10,000.

Definition:The offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting of any item of value to influence the actions of an official or other person in charge of a public or legal duty.

Evidence: In September, 1987 Mario was seen acting in an official capacity as a referee for the World Video Boxing Alliance, or the W.V.B.A. In Mario's official duty's as "referee" for the bouts Mario is clearly seen to "look the other way" when cheating is done by the opponent's of boxer Little Mac. Little Mac has to endure all manner of cheating such as spitting, kicking, and even magic. For a referee to allow this blatant disregard for the rules it is clear that Mario has accepted numerous bribes.

Judgement of the court: Accepting a bribe is a Second-degree felony. Mario is sentenced to 20 years in prison and a fine of $10,000.

Definition: Illegal possession of a controlled substance occurs whenever a person owns or otherwise possesses a drug or other controlled substance, without justification or permission.

Evidence: Mario's drug use has been highly evident during his career as a "hero". He has been using controlled substances since 1985. On October 23rd, 1988 Mario was seen leaving numerous "Toad Houses" with psilocybin mushrooms. Mario would leave these "Toad Houses" and ingest the mushrooms for later use. He would commit various crimes, including but not limited to animal cruelty and tampering with an aircraft. Psilocybin mushrooms are classified as a Group 2-A controlled substance and Mario is estimated to be in possession of more than 4 but less than 400 grams of said substance.

Judgement of the court: Possesion of psilocybin mushrooms 4>400 grams is a Second-degree felony. Mario is sentence to 20 years in prison and a fine of $10,000.

Definition: Robbery is the crime of taking or attempting to take anything of value by force or threat of force or by putting the victim in fear. At common law, robbery is defined as taking the property of another, with the intent to permanently deprive the person of that property, by means of force or fear.

Evidence: On June 23rd, 1996, Mario is seen entering the Castle of Princess Peach. In said castle Mario is seen committing various acts of violence to steal "stars" from numerous victims. Victims include Big Bob-Omb, Wiggler, Thwomp King, Big Boo, Big Bully, Eyerock, Bowser, Goomboss, Chief Chilly, and Chill Bully. Mario is seen throwing, punching, and even stomping on the aforementioned victims. Mario is lucky in one regard as he doesn't directly use weapons, escaping the charge of aggravated robber.

Judgement of the court: Robbery is a Second-degree felony. Mario is sentenced to 20 years in prison and a fine of $10,000.

Definition: Aggravated assault is the attempt to cause serious bodily injury to another or to cause serious bodily injury purposely, knowingly or recklessly, with an extreme indifference to the value of human life.

Evidence: On November 21st, 2001 Mario, along with several other citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom are seen participating in an unsanctioned, underground fight tournament. During the course of these illegal bouts Mario is seen using various weapons, including but not limited to baseball bats, guns, swords, and hammers. Mario uses these weapons with vicious effectiveness with no regards to life and limb of the other participates in these fights, including his own brother Luigi and his "girlfriend" Princess Peach.

Judgement of the court: Due to two of his victims being in a close domestic relationship with him this assault is classified as a First-degree felony. Mario is sentenced to 99 years in prison and a fine of $10,000.

Definition: Regicide is defined as the deliberate killing of a monarch, to include Kings, Queens and other sovereign heads of state.

Evidence: On September 13th, 1985 Mario is seen committing his most severe crime of all, regicide. In said occurrence Mario is seen traveling a great distance to the castle of King Bowser Koopa, the king of Dark Land. Upon traversing King Koopa's castle, Mario is seen using an axe to cut the ropes of a bridge that King Koopa is standing on, leaving the king to plummet to his death in a lake of molten lava. Mario's intentions of over throwing King Koopa are highly evident due to even further actions of taking down Dark Land's flags and putting up his own.

Judgement of the court: Regicide is a crime of high treason. The penalty for committing high treason is the ultimate sentence of death by beheading or by being drawn an quartered. Mario, may God have mercy on your soul.

Mario's total jail/prison time to be served: 181 years and upon conclusion of sentence death.
Mario's total fines owed: $76,200 and license suspension

After being shown all the evidence it is clearly shown that Mario is by far not the innocent plumber we've all come to know and love, but a vicious and sadistic career criminal with a nasty mean streak! So the next time another "adventure" of Mario's is released be on the lookout for more crimes committed by this master criminal!

In all seriousness I know a lot of these said crimes were a bit of a stretch but this was a blast to make and I had an awesome time doing it and spent a good bit of time researching it. I sincerely hope you enjoyed reading the list! Until next time this is BBGandE, dispensing justice for the downtrodden!
