Game: Adventure Island, New System: Turbo Grafix 16 Genre: Action/Adventure Developer: Hudson Soft Author: Seraph 0 Real Name: Andrew Almeida E-Mail: Seraph_0@Hotmail.com Version: 1.0 Date: September 23, 2003 September 28, 2004 ----------------- Table of Contents ----------------- 1. Introduction 2. Story 3. Controls 4. Items 5. Weapons 6. Enemies 7. Bosses 8. Walkthrough 9. Review 10. Copyright --------------- 1. Introduction --------------- This version of Adventure Island you probably missed, because of two reasons: it was on the Turbo Grafix 16, a system that was although awesome, but never really big, and they probably didn't make that many units of this game. I never really liked the first of the Adventure Island series, but this one is fun. -------- 2. Story -------- Master Higgins and his girlfriend Tina finally get married. As they are leaving the church, shadows start kidnapping the villagers and one large shadow kidnaps Tina! It's up to Higgins to save the villagers and his beloved wife Tina! ---------------- 3. Controls/Tips ---------------- D-Pad - Move Higgins Select - / Run - Pause I Button - Jump II Button - Attack - Hold the Attack button to run - When you have a weapon, continually fire, because you may hit an invisible egg. - To reveal a secret egg, just jump in the area where the weapons bounce off an invisible object. - Although it looks like you have a Health Bar, this game is a "One Hit Wonder", meaning if you get hit once, your dead. - Remember to pick up fruit, they are basically a "add time" item. - Don't run over rocks, they take two of your Health Bar points away. -------- 4. Items -------- During your quest, you will come across a few items that will help you and some that won't. Most items are contained in an egg. Fruit - These are the most important part of the game. You must consume fruit to keep your Health Bar up. There is variety of fruit. Skateboard - Increases your speed and protects you for one hit. The only two problems: one is you can't stop until you either hit something or you finish the level, and it's hard to pick up fruit and items. Pixie - The game's invincible item. A fairy flies above you and grants immortality for about 6 seconds. TG16 Controller - These items are worth 2000 points, and usually appear after you kill a Wolf and Arctic Wolf. They look like any regular Turbo Grafix 16 Controller. Bottle of Milk - Restores your Health Bar to full. Egg Plant - This evil vegetable has been in the Adventure Island series for a long time. This is basically an Anti-Pixie item. It flies above your head, siphoning your Health Bar for about 6 seconds. 1Up - These rare items look like Higgins head and adds an extra life to your total. Giant Watermelon - A watermelon. A rare item worth 2000 points. ---------- 5. Weapons ---------- You will come across a few weapons to help defeat you enemies. Most weapons are contained in an egg. I arranged by appearance. Hand Axe - Your first and basic weapon. A small, double sided axe that you throw in arcs. It's a mid-range weapon and can be hard to target enemies. This weapon cannot break rocks or boulders. Boomerang - Like any other Boomerang, a long-range weapon that travels back to you when thrown. Throws in a straight line. This weapon can break rocks and boulders. Also, you can only throw two at a time, so you have to wait until the Boomerangs return. Fireball - This strange weapon fires diagonally down, so you have to jump to attack enemies at greater range. A extremely short range weapon if you don't jump, but I think it is technically the strongest weapon. This weapon can break rocks and boulders. Spear - Looks sort of like a large arrow. The best weapon in my opinion. Its long-range, travels straight and quick. This weapon cannot break rocks or boulders. ---------- 6. Enemies ---------- Through out the game you will encounter many enemies that will stop at nothing to keep you away of Tina. Snail - Your first and basic enemy. Very slow and have no attacks other then it's body. Not a threat. Toucan - Another easy enemy. These birds fly at different altitudes and move in a wave like movement. Attack if there low enough to hit you, but other then that, no real threat. Frog - At first, it's a green frog that just watches you. When you hit it once, it turns purple and waits for you to get closer to it and then pounces. You can run under it when it jumps, but it will chase you. Attack from a distance and try to fire your weapon twice. Sometimes, they start off as purple. Cobra - More pathetic then the Snail. A stationary snake that seems to be a waste of time and energy just to attack it. Skull - The flying skulls are stationary. They have two fireballs encircling them. You can just jump over them, run under them, or just kill them. Spider - These guys can be tricky. Some are stationary, and some will then suddenly move up and down. Try to take out as many as you can before you continue on, because you never know when they will descend on you. They can be black or brown in color. Bat - Pretty much like the Toucan, moves in a wave like movement and can also move in circles. Swine - Pigs that walk on two. Basically move towards you and if you jump over them, they just keep moving away. Very pathetic, just kill the poor basterds. Wolf - These tricksters are usually in the Adventure Island series, but there sometimes their foxes or coyotes. This gray animal comes running from behind, when you pass a lone flower. Rather jump over it, or attack it before it runs into you. If you jump over it and kill it, you will get a TG16 Controller. Red Cobra - This cobra is red in color, {duh!}, and has the ability to spit fireballs. Its best to attack from long-range. Coerce - These creatures are like Thwomps from Super Mario Brothers series. The only real difference is that they have two heads and when they slam on the floor, both heads spit fireballs. They don't attack when your near, they attack when you enter the screen. So, wait for them to fall, jump over the fireball and run under it. A Coerce is indestructible. Skewer - A strange vehicle with a mole at the wheel. The vehicle has two large spikes on the front, small ones on top, and armored plated on the back. You can only jump over it, because it is indestructible. Armadillo - These creatures will coil themselves up and roll towards you. You cannot attack them in this form, do to its protective hide. Jump over it, when it is rolling towards you and attack it before it starts rolling again. When you do hit an Armadillo when it's rolling, you get hurt like you would tripping over a rock. Sometimes, they bounce down a hill and you can't kill them when they do this. Hermit Crab - Kind of like the Snail, only it can move much faster. It can also go in its shell, so you cannot penetrate it when in this form. Wait for it to come out and quickly hit it with your weapon. Snake - Unlike the Cobras, this snake moves. It slithers a little bit, then pauses and repeats. Not much of a threat. Crab - This crustacean can be a pain. Like the Snake, it moves an pauses. The only difference is that it's chasing you, which could be a problem if you are jumping from a higher platform and over it. Wait until it against the wall and is still trying to move, then jump over it as soon as it's animation stops. Calamari - These little squids jump vertically up from the water. Like the Frog, it starts out as one color and changes when hit. First it's pink, then when you hit it, it turns purple. Another hit and it's dead. Swordfish - These large fish can pop out of nowhere and they seem to be flying when they do. They come from the middle of the right side and fall almost straight down. This could be a problem if you're running through the level. It's best that you slow down every so often and kill it if you can. Parrot - These birds move in different strategies. One is to swoop in a curve, then move straight on. Others ascend and diagonally attack you. Basically, just try to attack from long-range. Mole - This strangely shaped mole jumps out of the ground and chases you. Like the Snake it moves and pauses, but then it jumps up again and repeats as it follows you. Try to watch the ground as often as you can and it's best to kill it when it has paused. Penguin - This guys are like the Armadillo. The spin on the ice, then pause, then repeat while chasing you. Unlike the Armadillo, you can attack whenever you get a chance. Snowshoe - These rabbits just jump up and down every 2 seconds or so. Other then that, there no real threat. Walrus - First, they start moving slowly, but then they pick up speed by sliding. They slide after a short pause, so kill them then or jump over them. Arctic Frog - These frogs jump into the screen, but stop jumping right after. So, be cautious when entering areas with these frogs around. Other then that, they are a lot less annoying the regular Frogs. Snowswine - These Swine look like a snowman at first, but when you get to close, the pop out of the snowmen and walk towards you. Basically the same as the swine, only with a torso covered in snow. Arctic Wolf - This blue wolf is a little trickier, because they can jump. So, don't try to jump over it and wait for it to jump over you. Other then that, same as the Wolf. Ape - This creature moves at a normal rate and after a few steps, jumps twice. Other then that, no real threat, but take 4 hits before it dies. Scorpion - These insects walk back and forth in a small area. They move slowly at first, then dash to the end of their "zone". No real threat. They come in red and green. Mouse - This mice have large ears and stand on two. They rather jump at various lengths in one spot, or hop forward. No real threat. At times, they may be jumping in one spot, then do a long jump forward. Dragonfly - These insects can be annoying if you run into the screen. When they enter the screen, they pause for a moment, then fly down close to you and pause once again. Then they move forward. The best way to attack is to wait for it to get close then attack, before it moves forward. Big Mole - These moles don't hide in the ground and pop out. These moles move left and carry a large leaf over their heads. Other then that, there is no real threat. Snail Queen - A large snail that takes 5 hits to kill. The first 4 attacks that you do, causes the Snail Queen to spawn a Snail for each hit. The fifth hit will kill it. The Snail Queen is a lot faster, but is not a real threat. Bear - This large enemy can cause wooden logs to fall from the sky, by jumping on the ground. It jumps about 3-5x, then moves forward a bit and repeats. Takes eight hits to kill. Emu - These flightless bird run maybe half as fast as a wolf, which is still quite fast. Other then that, they take two hits to kill. Vulture - For some odd reason, the Vultures just poo on you. The poos will act like rocks, so take out the Vulture before it litters the ground with poo. Gecko - Another pathetic enemy. This creature sometimes is asleep, until you get near it. Then it slowly moves up and down in a small area. Not a threat. Giant Skull - The Giant Skull seems indestructible, when his mouth is closed. But when it spits fireballs at you, attack it 4x to kill it. The fireballs travel on the ground. --------- 7. Bosses --------- Here is the list of bosses, straight from the walkthrough. Tigris Stage 1-4 This giant humanoid tiger tosses yellow orbs that explode on the ground. The explosion causes a small, electric shockwave through the floor. His body is the only other weapon. Its weakness is its head. Just jump over the shockwaves and hit it in the head 14x. When it falls, you get 5000 points and you rescued your first villager. Note, I used a Spear, so the weapon strength may vary. Unicornis Stage 2-4 Like Tigris, this humanoid rhino has one attack, other then himself. He has the ability to throw brown orbs, which when they hit the floor, cause three large rocks to cave-in on the screen. The rocks do not aim for you, but watch the ceiling when the orb explodes. The good news is that you can hit the big rocks with your weapon. Again like Tigris, attack his head, but now it will take a little more patience and 18 hits to kill him. Once again, I used a Spear. Ursus Stage 3-4 Like the others, has one attack other then it's own body. This boss throws blue orbs that when they explode on the ground, cause a large pillar of ice to form. Not really deadly at first, but then the pillar breaks up and starts flying in a downward slope movement. Other then that, it's fairly easy and you can hit the blocks of ice with your weapon. It takes 26 hits to kill this bear. Suidae Stage 4-4 This giant humanoid pig creature throws black orbs, and when they hit the ground, creates a large black moving orb. The orb is slow, but can be dangerous when Suidae is getting close to you. Other then that, he takes 26 hits in the head to kill. Lagarto Stage 5-4 This boss throws red orbs, that when they explode on the ground, cause an arc of flame. This one may take a little longer then the others, because you have to avoid the flame and you can't attack when the flame is up. The best strategy is to get close to the explosion, so that the arc goes over you. The first orb he throws, you can actually just stay to the left, but the rest you have to get under the arc. Alligator-Man takes 30 hits before dieing. Loxodonta Stage 6-4 This humanoid throws gray orbs that bounce on the ground in arcs. The orbs leaves behind spike balls, which will become a problem. Like Lagarto, you will have to get under the orb as it bounces. Attack it 34x, and it will fall. Papio, (Magician) Stage 7 The final boss has two forms. The first is a magician with two attacks. One is the ability to summon the dead and fires a blue sphere of energy. The dead just pop it's head out of the ground and fire the orb out of its hand. The second ability it two shoot two sets of three doves that fly up to the pole. Then they turn into silver arrows and fall down from the pole. You can jump through the doves when they fly up. Papio does not move much and stays pretty much where he is when he starts. It takes 52 hits to kill this form. Papio Stage 7 In this form, Papio has extendable arms and grabs the pole right from the beginning. He hangs there an attacks with his extendable arms, and also uses his arms to push himself into you. It's not really hard to dodge his arms, usually he misses you anyways. Also, he rarely uses his second attack . One last note, don't jump when he is swinging his arms, just stay to the left, because he has better aim when you jump. Hit him 32x, and you finished the game. -------------- 8. Walkthrough -------------- You will cross six islands, with four stages each. Then, you face the final level. Stage 1-1 Enemies - Snail Toucan Frog Cobra Begin your adventure by moving right and pick up the Hand Axe from the egg. Continue right and don't forget to pick up fruits on the way. Continue killing Snails and picking up food until you past the first rock. The next egg you find contains a Skateboard. If you take it, it may be too fast to pick up food, so I will continue the walkthrough with out it. Shortly after, Toucans will be coming. Continue right and kill any Toucans who are close enough to hit you. Past the next rock, a Frog will be waiting. Remember to attack from a distance and continue on. Shortly after, you will pass the checkpoint and a Boomerang awaits just behind the pole. Grab it and continue on. Continue killing any enemies in your way and watch out for the fire pits. After the first fire pit and rock, the Cobra will make its first appearance. Continue on and soon you will see an egg that contains a Pixie. Once you get the Pixie, just start running forward. After the Pixie wears off, continue right until you see two big palm trees. A secret egg that contains a Fireball weapon is between the palm trees. Get it if you wish, and continue on. Soon you will encounter a springboard. Try to get enough speed and jump on it. Hold the jump button, so they jump goes higher. If you're lucky, you get all four fruits. Continue right and you finished the stage. Stage 1-2 Enemies - Frog Skull Spider Bat Begin moving right and soon you will come across a Spear. Grab it and continue forward. You will come across a Frog and a new enemy, the Skull. Kill them and continue forward. Soon after, you will descend down some stairs, littered with Spiders. At the end there is a Boomerang. Get it if you don't like the Spear and continue on. The next set of stairs has a secret egg right before you go up. The egg is a Fireball, but I suggest you keep what you have. Continue up the stairs, but beware of the boulder. If you have the Boomerang or Fireball weapon, you can destroy it. Continue forward and watch out for the Bats when you're jumping over the pits. Past the pit, there will be a boulder come straight at you. Continue forward and you will reach the checkpoint. Continue jumping from platform to platform and you will reach an egg with a Hand Axe in it. If you are really unhappy with the weapon you have, I guess you should take it. Continue jumping and soon there will be a rock at the edge of the next platform. Try to jump at the last second, so you get over it. Continue jumping and killing Spiders and Skulls. Soon you will reach a platform with a boulder come at you. After that, the end of the stage. Also, watch the ground for a Mole near the egg. Stage 1-3 Enemies - Swine Toucan Frog Wolf Cobra Red Cobra This level is just a giant hill, which means you will be going all the way up. Begin moving up the hill and after the two fire pits, watch out for the boulder. Continue up and soon you will come across a Hand Axe egg. Shortly after, Swine will descend the hill. After about two or three Swine, another boulder will be coming. Continue up, past the two fire pits, and yet another boulder. Toucans w=should be making an appearance soon, so watch yourself. Continue forward, killing Swine, jumping over boulders, and be careful of the Frog near the top. Shortly after the Frog is the check point, and being it is a Hand Axe egg. Now it's time to go down the hill. Move down the hill, killing any enemy that you encounter. You may want to run down the hill because there is little or no fruit down the hill. People who played the other Adventure Island games know what happens when you pass a lone red flower. For those who don't, the tricky Wolf comes running from behind, so watch yourself. Remember, if you kill it , you get a TG16 Controller. Continue down and watch out for the Frogs. Near the end of the hill, Cobras will return. Continue right and soon you will encounter a new species of Cobra, the Red Cobra. Run quickly and jump over it, before it starts spitting. Stab it in the back and continue right. Soon you will be at the end of the stage. Stage 1-4 Enemies - Bat Spider Coerce Skewer Begin moving forward and if you don't have a good weapon, the jump for the Hand Axe. Continue forward, killing Bats that try to attack. Continue forward until the Spiders make an appearance. Move cautiously and kill any Spiders that get in the way. Soon you will come across a pit with a spring above it. Quickly jump up and get the fruit, before they disappear. Watch out for the Coerce from the ceiling. Continue forward and soon you will encounter the indestructible Skewers. Continue past the Skewers and Coerces. You will encounter Spider next, which means you're near the boss. Past the Spiders and you will see weapons in the air. Grab one with you don't have one or don't like the one you have and continue to the end. You will automatically move to the platform and be raised to the boss. Tigris - This giant humanoid tiger tosses yellow orbs that explode on the ground. Show Time: After beating a boss, you get a little cinema where Higgins dances. The first dance, Higgins puts on a little show with fans. Stage 2-1 Enemies - Toucan Frog Wolf Cobra Swine Begin moving forward and grab the Hand Axe egg, if you need it. Continue forward and soon you will have to do a little jumping over some pits. At the end of the large pit, be careful of the Frog, because it is already purple. Continue right and watch out for a incoming boulder. Past the boulder you will see a purple Frog and a red flower. Dodge or kill the Frog, pass the flower and watch out for the Wolf. Afterwards, you will have to start jumping over pits again. Continue forward and beware of the boulder on shortly after the Wolf. When you pass a Cobra, you will be jumping on platforms that will fall when you land on them. At the end of the large pit, a green Frog awaits you. Get between the rock and Frog, so when you attack, it will jump over you. Right behind the Frog is a Swine and the volcano in the background will erupt, so watch the top of the screen. Past the first volcano is another volcano and the checkpoint, with a Boomerang behind it. You may accidentally get it, because you will have to jump over some rocks. Past the rocks, you will see a lone palm tree and two boulders right behind it. There is a hidden Fireball egg at the base of the palm tree. Right after the boulders is a spring , which you need to use to jump over the pit. A next part is a little tricky. You will have to use springs to jump from platform to platform, in order to avoid the large pit. At the end of the pit, a Frog awaits you. Shortly after the Frog, a red flower. Kill the Wolf when it passes and the Frog as well. Behind the Frog is the end of the level. Stage 2-2 Enemies - Bat Frog Armadillo Skull Begin moving forward and watch out for incoming boulders, as well as Bats. Soon you will see a Spear in the air, grab it if you wish and continue forward. Be careful of the next platform, there is a Frog right in the middle of it. The next platform past the Frog has a few Spiders and rocks to jump over. After that, you will encounter a new enemy on the next platform. You will have to do a little platform jumping over a large pit. Be careful of the Bats, some can get a little to close. Continue right and you will see a egg, which contains a Bottle of Milk. Grab the Bottle of Milk and continue to the checkpoint. Past the checkpoint are four Armadillos. After that, you will do a little more platform jumping. Be careful at the end, there will be a boulder as soon as you land on the end of the platform. Continue forward, all the way to the spring. Use it to help to jump to the next platform and to get a fruit. Continue forward, but watch the floor. You will notice platforms that will fall under you as soon as you touch them. Continue past the enemies, past the boulders and you have finished the level. Stage 2-3 Enemies - Hermit Crab Snake Crab Calamari Swordfish Parrot Mole This level has a whole bunch of new enemies. Begin moving forward and kill your newfound enemies. When you jump past the first rock, a Crab will be waiting below. Time your jump and continue on with a little platform jumping. Some of the clouds you jump on will fall when you touch them and beware of the Swordfish after the seconds cloud. Continue forward and you will see an egg that contains a Hand Axe. Get it if you want and continue forward. Past the two Crabs, will be another platform jumping exercise. Once again, beware of the Swordfish. Continue forward, past the Calamari and soon you will hit the check point. Continue on to the next platform jumping exercise and meet the next new enemy. You can get a Boomerang near a fruit if you need it. Continue past the Crab and on to the next big landmass. Soon you will meet another sneaky enemy, the Mole. Continue forward, but DON"T GET THE NEXT EGG. The next egg has the evil Egg Plant, so continue past it. Also, watch out for the Mole beside the egg. Continue jumping past the Parrots and Calamari, and soon the level will end. Stage 2-4 Enemies - Spider Bat Skull Frog Coerce Skewer Begin moving forward. When jump onto the second platform, beware of the purple Frog. Continue forward and use the spring if you want a fruit, if not, it's just easier to jump over the pit. Be careful of the next platform, not only is there a Frog, but also a fire pit on the edge of a higher platform. Make sure you not your limits on jumping before jumping over the fire pit. Continue past the Coerce and watch out for the Skewer on the next platform. Continue past the Coerces and Skewers, and you will have to do a little platform jumping exercise. Be careful, some platforms will fall under you. Continue forward and soon you will be automatically taken to the boss. Unicornis - Like Tigris, this humanoid rhino has one attack, other then himself. He has the ability to throw brown orbs, which when they hit the floor, cause three large rocks to cave-in on the screen. The rocks do not aim for you, but watch the ceiling when the orb explodes. The good news is that you can hit the big rocks with your weapon. Again like the Tigris, attack his head, but now it will take a little more patience and 18 hits to kill him. Once again, I used a Spear. Show Time: This time he does a little disco dancing. Stage 3-1 Enemies - Crab Calamari Penguins Snowshoe Walrus This level has icy floors, so you will have to watch yourself. Begin moving forward and get the Hand Axe egg, if you need it. Kill the Crab and do a little platform jumping exercise. After the Calamari and down the slope, there is a hidden Fireball egg at the base of the slope. Grab it if you wish and continue forward. Continue forward and shortly you will need to jump to another platform with a fire pit at the very edge. Right after the fire pit, there is a Pixie egg waiting for you. Run all the past the Snowshoes, past the platform exercise and you will soon reach the checkpoint. Soon after is a Boomerang if you want it and also a tricky spring. Very close to the spring is a Calamari, so watch yourself. Also, make sure you don't slide into the Walrus when you hit land. Past the Walruses and Penguin is a egg. DO NOT PICK IT UP! It's a Egg Plant, so make sure you don't slide into it. Continue past the egg and shortly after, there will be two fruits waiting under a collapsible platform. I suggest to avoid it, but if you are fast enough, try to get it. Continue past the fire pit and all the Snowshoes, and you will finish the level. Stage 3-2 Enemies - Arctic Frog Penguin Bat Skull Walrus This level has icy floors as well. Begin moving forward and grab the Hand Axe egg if you need it. Watch out for the Artic Frogs that jump into the screen, also watch the ceiling for falling icicles. When the icicle hits the ground, it shatters and the shards can hurt you to. Also, know that you can hit the icicles. Continue forward and keep watching the ceiling. Soon boulders will be coming and you will encounter the Penguins again. Continue past them and soon you will have a long platform jumping exercise. The add bonuses of having slippery platforms, fire pits, collapsible platforms and other hazards add to the annoyance . Also, some of the platforms levitate upwards reappear at the bottom of the screen, like Super Mario Brothers. At the last platform is the check point. Continue forward and grab the Spear if you wish. Soon you will have to jump onto a spring to launch to another spring. Watch out for the boulder when you land on the platform and continue forward. Grab the next egg, it contains a Pixie. Continue running and it should run out after a icicle. Right after the icicle is a hidden egg with a Fireball in it. Grab it if you wish and continue forward. You will have to jump onto a spring and onto a recoil platform. To recap, a recoil platform is a platform that grows and shrinks. Continue forward, past the enemies and you will soon reach the end. Stage 3-3 Enemies - Penguin Spider Snowshoe Snowswine Bat Arctic Wolf Begin moving forward and grab the Hand Axe egg if you need it. The first pit has a few small platforms and a few big platforms, which fall when touched. Continue past the Penguins and boulder, and onto the recoil platform. After the Snowshoe, you will encounter a new kind of Swine, the Snowswine. Past the Snowswine, there will be two ways to get to the same checkpoint. Go up and you can get a Bottle of Milk, go forward and you get a few fruit. Be careful when you get to the spring, because there is a Bat flying near the top. Near the checkpoint is a Boomerang if you want, if not, continue forward. Continue past all the Snowshoes and Penguins, and soon you will see a fire pit. Watch out though, because there are some Bats close enough to jump into them as you jump over the fire pit. Continue forward and you will see a lone flower, but with a new Wolf. After that, a few boulders and later some small moving platform that go up. It's not an alternate path, its just three fruit and a hidden egg containing a Fireball. After that, another lone flower. Watch out though, because there is a fire pit you have to jump over and the Arctic Wolf will jump too. Continue past the fire pits and Penguins, and you will reach the end. Stage 3-4 Enemies - Bat Frog Skull Skewer Coerce Spider Begin moving forward and watch out for a purple Frog on top of the stair-like platform. After that, there is a Boomerang behind a fire pit, if you need it. Continue forward and yet another Frog, but it's green. Soon you will have to jump on collapsible platforms to get across a gap. Watch out for the Skewer at the end of the exercise. Just behind the Skewer are Coerces and more Skewers. After the Spiders, there are torches in the background that start to shoot fireballs at you. Also, watch out for the Skewer from behind. Just after the torches, a small jumping exercise, but with a major hazard. The hazard is a large piece of wood with many spikes that ascend and descend. Continue past the Spiders and Skewers, and soon you will come across weapons in the air, which mean you're near the boss. Get onto the platform and ascend into battle. Ursus - Like the others, has one attack other then it's own body. Show Time: Does a little ballet performance with the Wolf. Stage 4-1 Enemies - Parrot Frog Red Cobra Snail Ape Mole Begin moving forward, past the Parrots and stop at the base of the hill, after the Frog. A Red Cobra awaits, so be cautious when moving up the hill. Kill him and continue forward. Soon, the Snails will appear again and after the second Snail, there will be a Red Cobra just a few steps away. Continue past the two fire pits and a new enemy will appear, the Ape. Past the Ape and down the hill, a another Red Cobra awaits. Continue past the Red Cobra near the second frog you encounter, is a hidden Fireball egg. Continue forward, but beware of the boulders. After a few boulders, the checkpoint awaits. Continue forward until you see an egg. The egg contains a Hand Axe. Get it if you need it and watch out for yet another Red Cobra just a little ways off. Continue forward, but beware of more Apes, Red Cobras, Frogs, and the sneaky Moles in the ground. When you see a banana after a tall hill, there is another hidden Fireball egg on top of the hill. Past a couple of Frogs and a Parrot, and you are at the end. Stage 4-2 Enemies - Frog Bat Scorpion Mouse Skull Begin moving forward, past the Frogs and be cautious of the pit. Wait for the right moment, jump and jump again to the next platform. At the next platform is a Hand Axe egg. Get it if you want, and continue forward. Be cautious of the Bats, they are close to the ground. Very soon will be a couple of boulders, and some rocks to make jumping over the boulders harder. At the end is a spring board, but you don't have to use it to get to the next platform. The next platform has a new enemy, the Scorpion. Past them and you will see and egg with a Pixie in it. Grab it and run. By the time the Pixie flies away, you should be on some platforms, with a big pit under you. Time your jumps right and get to the end. There is a collapsible platform at the end with four fruit under it. Try to get them or continue forward to another platform exercise for you to do. When you are done, continue forward until the checkpoint. Continue forward and be cautious of the platform after you kill the Mouse, because there will be a boulder. Then next few platforms have rocks, boulders, and a few Scorpions that is close to the edge of the platform, so watch you. After you kill a Mouse and Skull, soon there will be a Scorpion that moves right to the edge of the platform, so kill it first. Soon after, yet another Scorpion that moves right to the edge of the platform. Continue forward, past the platform exercise and after killing a few Mice, you will reach the end. Stage 4-3 Enemies - Parrot Armadillo Red Cobra Cobra Begin moving forward and down the hill. The Armadillo will reappear again and another will be bouncing down the hill, so watch yourself because you can't kill them when they're like this. On top of the hill, where the Armadillo was bouncing, is a Red Cobra. Continue up the hill and beware of boulders and a bouncing Armadillo. On top of the hill, past the fire pits is yet another Red Cobra. Continue forward, past Red Cobras, boulders, Parrots and any other enemy you already have met, until you have to go down hill. At the end of the hill, is a Jar of Milk egg and shortly after that, is the checkpoint. Continue forward until you reach an egg. The egg contains a Hand Axe and shortly after the egg is a Red Cobra. Continue forward and under the strawberry on the next hill, is a hidden Fireball egg. Continue forward and a lot of Parrots will start attacking. You will have to go up another hill with a Red Cobra at the top and falling boulders on the hill. The next Red Cobra you meet, there will be another hidden Fireball egg on the opposite hill from the Red Cobra. Continue forward and the pathetic Cobra makes another appearance. Continue forward and past the fire pits, and you will reach the end. Stage 4-4 Enemies - Bat Frog Spider Coerce Begin moving forward and beware of a bunch of Frogs. Continue forward, until you reach two a purple Frog with two fire pits on either side and a Hand Axe in the air. Grab it if you need it and move forward, but watch out for the Coerce. Also, when you past the first Coerce, a Skewer will be coming from behind. Continue forward and you will have to do a little jumping over some of those wood with spikes hazard. When you reach the next platform, watch out for the candles in back ground and a Skewer coming from the right. At the end, you will have to time jump right and jump over the hazard. Then, you will have to jump over a rock, with a Coerce right near the rock. Continue forward and you will reach the next boss. Suidae - This giant, humanoid pig creature throws black orbs, and when they hit the ground, creates a large black moving orb. The orb is slow, but can be dangerous when Suidae is getting close to you. Other then that, he takes 26 hits in the head to kill. Show Time: Higgins dances with the monkeys. Stage 5-1 Enemies - Snail Frog Dragonfly Big Mole Snail Queen Begin moving forward, past all the enemies. After your first pit, there is a Boomerang near a Snail, if you want it. Shortly after the Snail, a new enemy makes it's appearance: the Dragonfly. Watch yourself and take it out as soon as you get the chance. Use the springboard and continue forward. Watch out for the boulders and continue until the end. At the end, you will have to jump on a little collapsible platform and over a rock, but a Purple Frog is waiting for you just a little ways from the rock. Try to land in the middle between the rock and Frog, so the Frog jumps over you. Continue forward and you will soon pass the checkpoint, but watch out for the storm cloud. Shortly after the checkpoint is a Boomerang and a storm cloud. Continue forward and you will soon have to do a tricky jump to a moving platform. Rather run and jump over the rock, or jump at the edge and wait for the platform to move down. Continue forward and you will meet some new enemies. Soon you will find a egg containing a Bottle of Milk. Continue forward and jump on the first moving platform and wait for the storm cloud to pass. Continue on with caution and soon you will meet the Snail Queen. Kill it and it's children, and move on. Past the Frogs and you will finish the level. Stage 5-2 Enemies - Snowshoe Frog Snowswine Wolf Mouse Bear Begin moving past the Snowshoes and up the hill, just be careful of the rolling boulders. At the top are a Frog, Snowswine and a lone flower. Continue down the hill and take out the Wolf. Continue past the Mice and you will encounter the Bear. Continue past the bear and up the hill, but be careful of rolling boulders. At the top is the checkpoint. Continue down the hill, and in the middle of the slope is a hidden Fireball egg. Continue forward and you will see another lone flower and then another flower with a Boomerang above it. Be careful, and continue forward. You will see yet another lone flower, so be cautious. Continue down the hill, past the Snowshoes and you will encounter another Bear. Past the Bear, and you will soon see yet another lone flower. Pass a Frog and you finished the level. Stage 5-3 Enemies - Hermit Crab Dragonfly Swordfish Calamari Snake Crab Mole This level is just one big platform exercise. When you past the Hermit Crab and Dragonfly, be careful of the next set of clouds, because of Swordfish and Calamari. The next platform has Snakes, a Dragonfly, and the annoying Crabs. Continue forward, until you reach the next cloud jumping exercise. Once again, be careful of the Swordfish. Continue on and you will soon reach the checkpoint. The next set of clouds has two Swordfish, so take it slow. Continue on, until you start to see Moles. On the land that has Moles, there is a hidden 1Up egg between the two little hills. Continue forward for a while and you will reach the end of the level. Stage 5-4 Enemies - Bat Spider Frog Coerce Skewers Begin moving forward and get ready to do some tricky jumps. Sooner or later you will reach a springboard, with a Boomerang at the top. Get it if you want, and be careful of the Coerce when landing on the next platform. The next bit is a little annoying, because there are a lot of Skewers and a lot of difficult places to jump. The first two will come as soon as your reach the first jump to the higher platform. You may need to run and jump over the fire pits, so that you have room to jump over the Skewers. The next two Skewers, you will have to jump over them while avoiding rocks. When you reach the top and past the Coerce, a Skewer will be behind you. Also, watch out for the candles. When you reach the end of the platform, you will see a very annoying jump. Wait for the woods to go up, then run and jump as they are going down. Then continue forward and you will see the boss is near. Watch out for the Skewer, it's right near the elevator platform to the boss. Lagarto - This boss throws red orbs, that when they explode on the ground, cause an arc of flame. This one may take a little longer then the others, because you have to avoid the flame and you can't attack when the flame is up. The best strategy is to get close to the explosion, so that the arc goes over you. The first orb he throws, you can actually just stay to the left, but the rest you have to get under the arc. Lagarto takes 30 hits before dieing. Show Time: Does a little egyptian dancing, while Monkeys and Wolfs watch. Stage 6-1 Enemies - Spider Frog Wolf Snail Queen Parrot Cobra Red Cobra Begin moving forward and watch out for boulders and a couple of Frogs down the hill. At the bottom of the hill is a lone flower and shortly after that is another. Be careful of the Snail Queen at the bottom of the slope, near the second lone flower. Continue forward, and be careful of the Red Cobra at the top of the hill, past the fire pit. Continue up the hill and watch out for rolling boulders. At the top is the checkpoint and near it is a lone flower. Continue forward and watch out for the Red Cobras and Frogs. Also, it may get harder to see some rocks, so take it slow if you need to. When you past the first Frog, their is a hidden 1Up egg on top of the lone figure head. Continue forward and watch out for Parrots, some can be tricky to avoid and some air bomb you. DON"T GET THE NEXT EGG! The next egg you see is an Egg Plant. Continue up the hill and watch out for more rolling boulders. At the top, watch out for snakes and when you jump for the four fruit in a row, watch out for the Red Cobra at the bottom. Continue past a few Frogs and you will reach the end. Stage 6-2 Enemies - Emu Cobra Red Cobra Snake Vulture Scorpion Armadillo Mouse Begin moving forward and you will encounter a new enemy, the Emu. Continue forward, until you reach the first Snake. On top left hill, which you just came down, is a hidden Fireball egg if you want it. A little bit after that is a Hand Axe egg. Continue forward and there will be two Red Cobras and one will be behind a rock. Continue forward, jumping over some difficult rocks and fire pits until you reach the Vultures and Scorpions. Jump over the poo and continue to the checkpoint. Continue past the Emus and boulders, until the next fire pit. Don't jump over just yet, because there is an Armadillo waiting for you on the other side. Kill it before you jump, then jump over it and take out another. Continue forward and you will be attacked by Emus, boulders, and Mice. After the rock and two Mice, there will be more Scorpions and Vultures. After the second Vulture are more Armadillos. Continue forward, taking out more Emus and Armadillos until you reach the end. Stage 6-3 Enemies - Gecko Mouse Skull Giant Skull Frog Begin moving forward, past the any enemies until you jump your first pit. There will be a tricky jump, where you have jump over a rock and fire pit and to land in between two fire pits. A little ways off is a Giant Skull. Continue past him and continue on past the Frogs, to the checkpoint. Continue forward and the next egg you see contains a Hand Axe. Continue forward and beware of some Red Cobras. While moving forward, a Giant Watermelon will fall sooner or later. The next pit you get to has ascending/descending platforms. Jump on the ascending and wait until you reach the Bottle of Milk egg at the top. You have to shoot it, because if you jump on it, it probably fall into the pit. Continue forward and you will reach a little springboard exercise. Watch out for fire pits and a Red Cobra when jumping on them. Continue forward, pass all the enemies until you reach another Giant Skull. Take your time and kill it, then continue on to the end of the level. Stage 6-4 Enemies - Spider Bat Frog Begin moving forward, past all the enemies until the first pit. When you land on the next area, you will notice you may have to loose your current weapon, because there is a Hand Axe right above a fire pits. Continue forward and you will have to do a little hazard course with those wooden spike things again. Take your time when you timing your jumps and continue on. The next area is riddled with Coerces, Skewers, and those candles that shoot fireballs. Past them and pick a weapon, the boss awaits. Loxodonta - This humanoid throws gray orbs that bounce on the ground in arcs. The orbs leaves behind spike balls, which will become a problem. Like Lagarto, you will have to get under the orb as it bounces. Attack it 34x, and it will fall. Showtime: Higgins doesn't do a dance this time, he has a wife to save. Stage 7 Enemies - / The final stage. The first area your going through is full of traps, so take it slow. There are blue flames that move in arcs, candles, and those wood spike things. Try to get as close as you can to the blue flames, so the arc moves over you. Continue forward until you have to go downhill. Be cautious of the wood spikes when you go down the stairs. Also, there is a ball and chain trap on the wall, when going down the stairs. You can rather jump through the chain, or just run under it. I'd run under it. Continue past the traps, and grab the Hand Axe if you don't have a better weapon. Soon you will encounter the final boss. Papio - The final boss has two forms. The first is a magician with two attacks. One is the ability to summon the dead and fires a blue sphere of energy. The dead just pop its head out of the ground and fire the orb out of it's hand. The second ability it two shoot two sets of three doves that fly up to the pole. Then they turn into silver arrows and fall down from the pole. You can jump through the doves when they fly up. Papio does not move much and stays pretty much where he is when he starts. It takes 52 hits to kill this form. Papio - In this form, Papio has extendable arms and grabs the pole right from the beginning. He hangs there an attacks with his extendable arms, and also uses arms to push himself into you. It's not really hard to dodge his arms, usually he misses you anyways. Also, he rarely uses his second attack. One last note, don't jump when he is swinging his arms, just stay to the left, because he has better aim when you jump. Hit him 32x, and you finished the game. Ending Higgins runs to the right and finds his beloved wife, Tina. Tina gives him a kiss and the credits will begin showing shortly. During the credits, Higgins and Tina are returning home on a raft. At the end of the credits, the villagers greet the two lovebirds home. -------- 8.Review -------- Graphics = 4 Sound/Music = 3 Gameplay = 3.5 Overall = 3.5 This is a fun game, but one of those games that can rather be really easy or really hard. It can be really easy, because the levels are short and the enemies and bosses are not very hard. It can be hard, because there are 25 levels, and no password or save to continue where you left off. Graphically, its good. It's nice big and colorful graphics, and has good backgrounds. Maybe the only thing it needs is some detail to the characters/enemies. Sound/Music are nothing special. The sound fits the game, but it can get annoying. Gameplay, is fun. But like I said before, it can be really easy, or really hard. Overall, a fun game to play through once, but to play through it you may want to make sure you don't have any plans for a day or two. ------------ 9.
