What exactly is meant by IV?

  1. IV's (Individual Values) are essentially the genes of a Pokemon. Each stat has it's own IV that contributes (alongside base stats, EVs and nature) to the overall growth of a Pokemon. IVs range anywhere from 0 to 31 and at level 100 are added to their corresponding stats.

  1. Individual Values. You can see them as the individual talents of a Pokémon in each "combat field" (Statistic), while EVs are Effort Values, so the training they do/get in those fields. Your base talents towards something stay the same but you can train yourself to become better at that thing.
