What are you supposed to do for a villager's birthday?
So it was just posted on the message board in the town square that one of the villagers on my island is having a birthday soon. Do you go to their house and give them a wrapped gift? Send it to them in the mail? Do they have a party and invite you? It was my character's birthday a couple of weeks ago, and I was surprised that the game has such an elaborate celebration for birthdays. Anyway, if someone knows what the protocol is for villager's b-days, please let me know. TIA. AVM - 2 weeks ago
Hello! Villagers' birthdays are not mandatory celebrations, but giving them a gift they like will increase your friendship level with them and count towards a nook miles achievement. Popular gifts to get the most points are often wrapped non-native fruits, such as coconuts. On their birthday there's no invite, you just go into the villager's house and talk to them while they celebrate with another person. Hope this answers your question! Maddz (Expert) - 2 weeks ago

If you mean a human villager, it doesn't really matter. Aside from that specific player getting a visit when they load the game up (and k.k. birthday), there's not really anything the other players can do that's different.
If you mean an animal, you can give them a present, and depending what it is, you can gain friendship points. The best present to give is apparently wrapped non-local fruit (idk if it matters if it's a stack or not), and then they'll give you a gift in return as well. If you're visiting someone else's island, you can do the same, but you'll get your return gift in the mail the next day. Both of these increment progress on the the "Birthday Celebration" Nook milestone. Gargomon251 - 2 weeks ago
