so i didnt kill the dragon priest outside the portal in the main quest, what, if anything, did i mess up?

  1. because i wanted to save all my potions and otherwise for Aludin, i just ran past the dragon priest and jumped in the portal without fighting him. i didnt know that i ideally should have killed him and used the staff to keep it open, but now im wondering, did he has a mask i should have taken? if so could i still do it? am i screwed?

  1. Unless you reload a save before you went past him on Skuldafn then you have lost the opportunity to get his mask and thus the other one that requires it to also be gotten. It is not clear that you cannot return there until you finish so it happened to many others too including me the first time I went there. :(
