(  Abbreviations + Command Notation  )  ==============================  ( 1.03 )

 P / K - Press any Punch / Kick button.
NPNK - Press Normal Punch + Normal Kick buttons simultaneously.
FPFK - Press Fierce Punch + Fierce Kick buttons simultaneously.
 + - Stands for "and".
 / - Stands for "or".
 236 / 214 - Motion (d,df,f) or (d,db,b) on the joystick.
 41236 / 63214 - Motion (b,db,d,df,f) or (f,df,d,db,b) on the joystick.
 {{ATK}} - Repeat the listed command(s) in a swift succession. ('{{P}}'
means to swiftly hit any Punch button over and over.)
 [x] ]x[ - Hold/charge the specific direction or button(s). ('[4]' means
to hold backward on the joystick.) For special abilities the
general rule is that the charge time is 1-second (60 frames).
Can be followed by additional commands after the charge is
complete. ('[4]6' means to charge backward for a period, then
press forward.) Inverted brackets mean to release the held
                   button(s) to activate the effect.
 c. - Perform the following command(s) when near the opponent.
 j. - Perform the following command(s) while jumping/in the air.
x~y - Anything within that specific range of directions or buttons
will work. (Always goes clockwise for directions; '2~8' means
                   2, 1, 4, 7, or 8.) Commonly used to show a min/max range of
frames, hits, and/or damage for attack properties that may
change due to charging or powering-up.
(move name) - A special move that has no specific name, but is noted in the
character's movelist for having unique principles or command
to execute it. Although sometimes this notation means that I
don't know the official name for the move, or that it may not
have one. Basic throws normally don't have a name, so they
                   appear in parenthesis.
 ★ - Indicates the character's Ultimate Attack.
                   (Requires filled mutagen bar.)

"UAG" stands for the "Ultimate Attack Gauge," the green mutagen meter located
underneath each player's vitality gauge. Attacks (both basic and special) must
either hit or be guarded to gain UAG energy; they cannot whiff.

A character gains more meter from guarded attacks than hitting attacks.

The UAG is 80 units long to fill, and that allows for an Ultimate Attack to be
used; however, it also has an overstock of 4 units. This mean once the bar is
filled, additional attacks can be used to keep the bar flashing longer until it
is ready to be used. The bar depletes itself at a rate of 1 unit/92 frames.

The player's life amount correlates with how much meter they gain. When a
player's life bar is blinking (under 20%), they instead gain 3x meter from all
their attacks. (ie - Wingnut's 5FP gains 4 units normally, but will gain 12
units when his life bar is flashing.)

I immensely loved those 4-player games back when arcades were still a thing,

how could I pass it up?

(  Revision History  )  ==============================================  ( 3.04 )

 v. 6.0 // 2021.01.08
 - Edited the FAQ to my new format for notations. Seems most use the numerical
   notations for commands nowadays.

 v. 5.0 // 2013.01.08
 - Added more insight on the Ultimate Attack Gauge (UAG) details, and a link to
a video that breaks down a lot of this game's base mechanics for newcomers.

 v. 4.0 // 2012.04.24
 - I haven't played this in a while, and when last I did I didn't do a lot of
research on the hidden characters Karai and Rat King. Karai has a ton of
moves that were not included in this FAQ. Most of them are just directional
changes to her normals, but still should be included in her movelist.

 v. 3.0 // 2010.01.29
 - A couple of minor mistakes that I ended up fixing.

 v. 2.5 // 2008.06.17
 - Had one of Leonardo's and Cyber Shredder's moves named wrong.

 v. 2.0 // 2006.12.04
 - Added the controller config and a couple of extra moves to some, in addition
to include that Donatello can be moved during two of his specials.

 v. 1.0 // 2006.07.12
 - Another move added for Chrome Dome that I forgot, being his Chrome Stomp.

 v. 0.5 // 2006.07.07
 - A couple of small changes and corrections.

 v. 0.0 // 2006.06.29
 - The sole reason I made this FAQ was because there wasn't any small guide
available, and just a pair of solid full ones. Plus I found all the correct
Japanese names for the special moves, and wanted to put them out there. This
is why it isn't as thorough or complex as my other FAQs, and just a basic
MinFAQ. However, I do suggest you check out the FAQs for this game created
by both HKazuya and TGodzilla. Each of them are filled with more in-depth
info than this one ever will, so use one of those if you want any specifics.

 Oss'!
I've never met anyone that believes the NES and Genesis versions of "Tournament
Fighters" is superior to the SNES one, and I also don't know why the Japanese
version is so much better than the US one! The hours of fun I've put into this
game stretches move than some modern fighters, and still enjoy it to this day.

Have something to mention about this game or FAQ you want me and others to
know about? Did you find any of the above information wrong or misleading?
Or maybe you have additional details that is worth posting about. Whatever
the case is, feel free to send it! Anything that is posted within the FAQ,
you receive full credit for! That means authorized bragging rights for all
the internet to behold! So don't hesitate and send all that juicy info in!
.. By the way, thanks for reading!

Sayounara, adios, ciao, xie xie, au revoir, and all that other crap. ♥ ^_^
