It's a bowling game, what do you expect?

We all know and love bowling right? But what some companies just don't know is that bowling doesn't translate into video games very well. Sure you can load a bowling game with options and extras, but once you get through all that, you're going to have to realize that it's still a bowling game.

Super Bowling is a bowling game, much in the tradition of....uh...other bowling games. While some bowling games tend to look at things from a realistic standpoint, this game does it on a strictly comic standpoint. There are three different modes. The first is Turkey Bowling. In all the modes there is a turkey to "host" the mode. The host of Turkey bowling is a green turkey. Turkey bowling is just plain, run of the mill bowling. You get ten frames, and you see how many pins you can knock down. Really not much variety. The second mode is Golf Bowling. A brown Turkey hosts this mode, and you have to get difficult pin set ups knocked down in a certain number of rolls. The number of rolls you get is like "par" in golf. For example, a 7-10 split would be a two par, but if you somehow got them both down in one shot, you'd get a hole in one, which would be a birdy. The third mode is Practice, and a pink turkey teaches it. In practice mode, you can set up the pins however you want and then knock them down. About the only fun this has is showing your friends how you can get a 7-10 split (or not).

The graphics look very cartoony, and it works well with this game. There are four bowlers, a white man, a black man, a white woman, and a black woman. As far as I'm conserned, they all are the same to me. The sound effects are what you'd expect from a bowling game, the pins make noise when they fall down.

This game is definately not a challenging game, especially when you're Turkey Bowling. My third time playing a bowled a 300. If you let the ball go at the right time, you'll get a strike every time. This quickly diminishes the fun of the game though, and it's not like real bowling in that aspect at all. About the only fun you'll have is with the golf mode, and that gets boring quickly too.

No matter what you try to make a bowling game into, you can throw as many thanksgiving birds as you want to, but you're still going to end up with a bowling game. There's not much strategy in this game, and not much challenge either. I don't recommend buying it, if you really want to play a bowling game, then rent this game. You'll learn that bowling and video games just don't mix.
