By far the BEST flight simulator of all time.
Yep, this is it. This is, by far, the best flight simulator of all time. Better than it's N64 counterpart. Pretty obvious why.
Sure, it may look silly at first glance, but think of this. What would this game look like if it weren't for the fantastic polygons created by the Super FX chip? Not much. There are polygons for almost everything in this game, excluding the characters, plasma blasts (those white fireballs sometimes launched by enemies) and text. Even the bosses are well textured and formed. The Great Commander looks like a real starship. Overall, very well done!
No surprise here. The control is as smooth as silk, with the exception of a few minor flaws (such as asteroids appearing farther away from your ship than they actually are, resulting in unexpected crashes). The control while fighting the Atomic Base in the Space Armada or in Sector Z was a little jerky also. Other than that, excellent job.
Pretty good overall. Falco's voice is absolutely charming, while the music is very good. The only flaw (yes, which took away two points), was the crashing noise when your ship hits an obstacle. Absoutely NERVE-WRECKING!!! Even so, leave your sound on, as you might want to hear some of the musical tunes. The music on Macbeth is very cool, as with Sector Y.
This is how it goes: Andross, a mad ape scientist, is shunned to the planet Venom, after causing much mischief around the Lylat system and on Corneria, by General Pepper. After a while, Andross starts sending his Lieutenants and Soldiers to conquer the Lylat system and get revenge on Pepper. General Pepper sends out the Star Fox team to stop Andross' plans and to free the Lylat System. Sounds like a movie plot to me!
Sorry, bub. No multiplayer here. But you'll be too worked up in the main game to care anyway.
This game is quite hard, actually. Route three took me a few days to beat. Route one was easy, as was route 2 (Except for Sector Y, UGGGHHHHHHHHHH, stupid stingrays).
Not the best category of the game, just average. Once you beat all three routes, all you can try to do is beat your best score.
Overall, this game is excellent. A definite challenger for best Super NES title of all time.
Rating: 5.0 - Flawless
