According to the French language independent video gaming website 1UP Games, the entire Super NES version of Cool World is actually shorter than the first level of Super Castlevania IV. They also claimed that the cartoon-like graphics were more in style with the side-scrolling action games of that era than with the actual Cool World movie.

With each level in the game having an average width of between 3-4 screens, the game is basically reduced to a big city setting, two dangerous but short automobile trips, some insignificant screens at Sweet Place, Holli's Tower, and downtown Las Vegas.
