 II.  STORY
=============================================================================
THE SECRET OF THE LAMP!

"For years the secret of the lamp has eluded me, but tonight it was within my 
grasp.  At long last, I had succeeded in uniting the halves of the ancient 
golden scarab, which led me along a magical trail across the dunes.  Taking 
the worthless thief, Gazeem, with me, I ventured deep into the desert. We 
watched in anticipation as the two pieces of the scarab split apart and 
buried themselves deep in the sand.  This was what I had searched for!"

"Suddenly, the ground began to quake under us and a huge tiger's head rose
ominously from the moonlit sands.  I had found it!  After all the searching - 
The Cave of Wonders!"

"I sent Gazeem into the tiger's mouth with instructions to bring me the lamp.  
As I watched him draw closer to the cave, I could feel the power of the lamp.  
But I was unprepared for what happened next..."

"The Cave itself rose in anger and rejected Gazeem, silencing him forever 
with its massive stone jaws.  'Only one who is worthy may enter,' it roared.  
'One whose rags hide a heart that is pure.  A diamond in the rough...'"

"Somewhere I will find this diamond and then the power of the lamp will be

 III.  CONTROLS
=============================================================================
The following controls are for the default settings.  

Controls for Aladdin
--------------------
Up      :  climb up ledges while hanging from them
Down    :  duck
Left    :  move left
Right   :  move right
Y       :  hold the button down to run faster
X       :  not used
B       :  jump, somersault off of enemy (hold the button down)
A       :  throw apples
L       :  not used
R       :  glide in the air (rug required to glide)
Select  :  not used
Start   :  start game, pause/resume game

To grab a ledge or beam:  Jump toward the edge of the ledge or beam and
Aladdin will automatically grab hold if he is close enough.


Controls for magic carpet ride
------------------------------
Up      :  fly higher
Down    :  fly lower
Left    :  fly slower
Right   :  fly faster

 IV.  GAMEPLAY
=============================================================================
Status
------
The status bar at the top of the screen is divided into the following parts.

Lives left:  Displays the number of lives remaining.
Health    :  Your current health.  You may obtain a maximum of 10 hearts.
Rug       :  A rug icon will appear if you have the rug.  It allows you to 
             glide.
Apples    :  Your apply supply.
Emeralds  :  The number of emeralds you've collected.  Green emeralds are 
             worth one while red ones are worth more.


Action
------
All the gameplay will be onscreen.  Aladdin can use all sorts of moves to 
defeat his enemies and travel through the level.  Objects Aladdin can use 
include chests, jars, enemies, Agrabah citizens, poles, ropes, stalagmites, 
boxes, springs, balloons, cobra heads, snake heads, orbs, etc.  Play 
continues until Aladdin dies or finishes the level.


Bonus Round
-----------
At the end of any level in which Aladdin grabbed the golden scarab, you will 
be sent to the bonus round.  Genie will prompt you to press a button to start 
the wheel of fortune spinning.  Press a button once more to stop the wheel.  
Watch as it slowly stops of one of several prizes.

Options Screen
--------------
When the title screen appears, push the control pad up or down to move the
marker next to OPTIONS and press the START button. When the next screen
appears, push the control pad up or down to highlight the option you wish
to change.

Control Type
This option allows you to change the settings for the different buttons
used in the game.  Press the control pad left or right until you find the 
control pad settings you wish to use.

B.G.M.
This option allows you to hear the various Background Music themes used
in Aladdin.  Press the control pad left or right to change the Background 
Music number and then press the B button to hear the song.

Sound Mode
This option allows you to select either STEREO or MONOAURAL sound.  Push the 
control pad left or right to highlight the option you wish to use.

Exit
Highlight this option and press the START button to exist the OPTIONS mode.


Using the Password
------------------
When Aladdin completes an entire level, the Genie will appear and reward
you with a magical password.  Look to see which character appears in each box 
and make sure you write them down for future reference.

The next time you play ALADDIN you can enter your password by selecting the
PASSWORD option on the title screen.  When you do, the password screen will
appear.  Press the control pad up or down to select the correct character
for the first box.  Then press the control pad right to select the next box
and put the next character in that box.  After all characters have been
placed in the correct boxes, press the START button.  If your password is
correct, the two halves of the magical scarab will unite and magically
transport you back to where you received the password.

APPLE
Aladdin can throw these at his enemies.

BREAD
Collect a loaf of bread to refill one heart on Aladdin's health meter.

EMERALDS
Collect 100 to earn an extra heart.

HEART
Adds an extra heart to your health meter.

JARS
Tip them over to see what is hidden inside.

MAGIC LAMP
Grants Aladdin another chance to complete the adventure.

ROASTED CHICKEN
Refills all the hearts on Aladdin's health meter.

RUG
Aladdin will be able to use it to glide through the air.

TREASURE CHEST
Hides treasure.  Open it by jumping on top of it.

SCARAB
Allows you to play the bonus game.

 VI.  ENEMIES
=============================================================================
Archer
Will rain arrows at you.  Run under or jump over them.  One hit will defeat 
him.

Bat
This creatures inhabits the caves and just fly around.  One hit will defeat 
it.

Claw in pot
This pot has a life of its own.  One hit will defeat it.

Flying Pot
Pot with claws and wings.

Guard
The standard Agrabah defense.  He'll either try to grab you or roll barrels 
at you.  One hit will defeat him.

Iago
Jafar's sidekick will drop a skull in your path.  One hit will defeat him.

Jafar (final boss)
The evil mastermind behind all of Aladdin's trouble.  He awaits you in the 
palace.

Marketplace Peddler (boss 1)
Swings a mean sword.  Wait for him to stop his sword rage.  Then jump once 
more.  A few jumps will put him out of business for good.

Sand Bat
A bat made from sand.  It will fly at you.  One hit will defeat it.

Scorpion
This creature will crawl along the sides of cliffs.

Skeleton
Emerges from the sand to attack.

Sword Familiar
Ghostly swords that fly at you.  One hit will defeat it.

Swordsman
Throws his scimitar at you.  Be careful as it will boomerang back to him.  
One hit will defeat him.

Whirlwind
A blast of air that will try to hit you in the air.

 VII.  WALKTHROUGH
=============================================================================
This walkthrough will guide you through the entire game.  Feel free to 
deviate from my strategy at any time.

The Market Place 
----------------
Chased by the palace guards, Aladdin and Abu must steal their daily bread
and escape from their enemies.

Stage 1-1
---------
Head right.  Jump on the guard and somersault on top of the tent.  Jump on 
the barrels to the right.  Jump and grab the pole.  You'll swing on it.  At 
the peak of your swing, jump.  Jump across the tents.  To the right will be 
two claw in pots that will drop down from the windows.  Just jump on them to 
defeat them.  Below the green tent is a jar.  First defeat the guard that is 
walking around below.  Then jump on the jar to get the bread inside.  Now 
jump back onto the tents.  Above the rightmost tent is a pole.  Swing on it 
from the left side.  Hold UP and jump off at the peak of your swing.  You 
should be propelled into the air.  Immediately push to the LEFT and you'll 
grab onto the ledge above.  Somersault off the jar to grab the red emerald.  
Then grab the apples that fell out of the jar.  Drop back down to the ground.  
Now swing on the pole again to grab the green emeralds.  Now head right.  
You'll see a man stick his head out of a window.  To the right of the man is 
a jar with apples.  Grab them and then somersault off of the man in the 
window's head on to the tents.  From the red tent to the man's right, you can 
jump and climb up the ledge above.  Now wait for the man in the window to the 
right to show his head before you jump.  You'll spring off and on to the 
ledge to the right.  Grab the rug.  You should see some emeralds off to the 
right.  Jump off and use the rug to glide (hold R button) down to grab the 
emeralds.

After you've grabbed them all, head right.  You'll come across a tower of 
ledges.  There's a chest on the middle ledge.  Grab the heart inside.  Now 
climb up the ledges until you reach the top.  There's a 1 UP on the highest 
ledge.  Grab it and look to the right.  There will be some more ledges.  Jump 
across them.  Watch out for the archer below.  Grab the red emerald on the 
ledge to the right.  Then glide down to the right.  Don't glide too far to 
the right though.  You should land to the right of a group of snakes in pots.  
There's a scarab in the treasure chest to the right of the snakes.  Grab it 
before it flies away.  There's nothing to the left but snakes so go to the 
right.  There will be an archer waiting for you on top of some barrels.  
Defeat him and then grab the bread inside the jar below the tent.  Get on top 
of the tent.  Use the pole to swing up to the ledge above.  From there you 
can swing on another pole to reach the red emerald on the ledge to the right.  
Now walk off the ledge on the right side.  As you're falling, use the rug to 
glide and grab all the emeralds.  If you're fast you can even land on top of 
the archer's head to defeat him.  Now jump on the ledge to the right.  Watch 
out for the two archers positioned on the barrels.  Just avoid their arrows 
and jump to the next ledge.  From there you will need to jump on and then 
somersault off of the archer's head.  While you are airborne, quickly use the 
rug to glide and grab the red emerald to the right.  The stage's exit is to 
the right.


Stage 1-2
---------
Climb up the ledge to the right.  Jump to the next ledge.  Watch out for the 
archer below you.  Defeat him and climb up the tower.  Grab the apples from 
the jar at the top of the tower.  Jump over to the tower to the right.  Grab 
the bread in the chest.  Then jump over to the next tower.  Climb up to the 
top and defeat the archer.  Now jump and glide down to grab the emeralds to 
the right.  Land on top of the barrel.  Then jump and grab the remaining 
emeralds.  Head right.  You'll climb up a slope.  Jump over the barrel that 
the guard throws at you.  Now jump up to the stairs and head left.  Jump off 
and glide to the left when you reach the left edge to grab a red emerald.  
Now make you way back up the stairs.  Watch out for the guard because he'll 
be back.  When you reach the top of the stairs, a guard will be waiting.  
Defeat him and head right.  Jump and grab the two emeralds in the sky.

Now fall down to the ground below.  Grab the chicken in the chest.  Then 
climb up the ledge and grab the emeralds.  Defeat the archer on the barrels.  
Grab the emeralds to his right.  There will be another archer on top of the 
building to your right.  Quickly climb up and defeat him.  Grab the emeralds 
and then swing on the pole.  Now timing is critical for this next maneuver.  
If you mess up you will get hurt.  Jump off at the peak of your swing and you 
will be able to grab the emerald and then land on the guard.  Now head right 
until you reach a pit with emeralds.  Now climb back up and then climb up the 
ledges in the air.  Watch out for the archers as you're climbing up.  Follow 
the ledges and grab the 1 UP next to an archer.  From that ledge you can then 
jump up and grab the ledge to the right of the high ledge above you.  Quickly 
climb up as an archer is positioned right next to you.  Jump on him and 
somersault over to the ledge to the left.  Jump and glide to the left to grab 
the red emerald.  Then climb up to the stairs and follow the emeralds.  The 
exit is to the right.


Stage 1-3
---------
Grab the bread in the jar.  Then climb up the ledge.  From there, jump on to 
the trampoline.  Spring up to the rooftops.  Defeat the guard at the top.  
Then jump on to the ledges.  Jump over to the pole to the right.  Quickly 
swing and grab the emerald before the archer below hits you.  Jump over to 
the next roof.  Jump on top of the ledges.  Then glide to the right from the 
top ledge.  Grab the red emerald and land to the right of the archers if you 
can.  Head right and defeat the guard there.  The jar to the right has 
nothing so climb up the ledges.  Defeat the archer at the top.  Glide to grab 
the emeralds to the right.  Now walk off the ledge on the left side.  The 
moment you start to fall, quickly push RIGHT to grab onto the ledge.  Now 
there is a pole below you.  Drop off the ledge and quickly push RIGHT to grab 
the pole.  Swing over to the 1 UP.

Now use the poles to the right to swing yourself back on to the ledge.  Use 
the pole on the ledge to swing and grab the emeralds to the right.  Glide 
over to the poles to the right.  Swing over to the three ledges to the right.  
Grab the bread at the lowest ledge.  Then climb up the ledges to the top.  
Defeat the guard at the top.  Glide off to the right and you'll land on top 
of a ledge with a red emerald.  Do another glide to the right to find a green 
emerald on top of a ledge.  Walk off the ledge and you should see some 
swinging platforms to the right.  Jump on them and grab the emeralds on the 
ledge below.  You'll see a red emerald under the second swinging platform.  
To grab it, you'll need to hang from the platform.  This is easier to do if 
you wait for the platform to stop.  Then walk off so as it swings in the 
other direction to have it will "bump" into you.  Grab the emerald and then 
jump over to the next platform.  Jump over to the ledge with the clothesline.  
Slide down below.  You'll land on the archer.  Grab the chicken in the jar to 
the right.  Climb up the ledges.  Defeat the archer on one of the ledges.  
Now instead of swinging down the clothesline, do a glide to the right from 
the ledge the archer was on.  Grab three green emeralds and then quickly turn 
left to grab the red emerald.  Now keep gliding left and you should make it 
back to the ledge before you fall off the screen.  Now you can swing down the 
clothesline.  There's an archer waiting at the bottom.  You'll need to 
somersault off of him to grab the emeralds to his right.  Then head right to 
the exit.


Stage 1-4
---------
Head right and defeat the guard.  Grab the bread in the jar.  Defeat the next 
guard to the right.  Then defeat the archer on the barrel to the right before 
you grab the apples in the jar.  Go right some more and grab the chicken and 
bread in the next two jars you find.  Then head right to fight the boss.

Jasmine is in trouble when a marketplace peddler is threatens.  He will swing 
his scimitar at you.  Just jump on his head.  Then the peddler will get into 
a sword fury.  Avoid it and wait for him to stop.  Then jump on him again.  
Repeat until he's defeated.

The Cave of Wonders
-------------------
Freed from the palace dungeon, Aladdin and Abu search the Cave of Wonders
for the magical lamp.

Stage 2-1
---------
Jump on the stalactite to swing over the spikes.  You'll notice that it will 
drop down once you've swung on it.  You can somersault off of it.  This will 
prove useful later in the level.  Grab the emeralds and swing over the next 
pit of spikes.  Somersault off the fallen stalactite to grab the emerald 
above the spikes.  The emerald to your right can be obtained by jumping and 
hanging on the left side of the ledge.  Now head right and swing across the 
larger spike pit.  Afterwards, somersault off the fallen stalactites to grab 
the emeralds.  You'll have to climb up now.  Watch out for the bats as you're 
climbing up.  To the upper left is a chicken.  Grab it to get fully 
recovered.  Then head right while avoiding the bat.  Atop the slope to the 
right is a rug.  Now follow the path as it winds downward.  Once you're at 
the bottom, follow the path right.  Jump on to the first ledge with the 
scorpion on the left side.  Now you'll see a bat flying to your right.  Jump 
and somersault off of the bat to grab a hidden red emerald in the alcove 
above you.  Then head right and grab the scarab in the treasure chest.  
There's another bat to the right of the chest.  Like before, you'll need to 
somersault off the bat to grab hold of the ledge above the chest.  Then swing 
on the stalactite over to the 1 UP to the right.  Then drop back down.

Head right and jump over to the first ledge.  Now you'll see a bat to the 
right.  If you time it right, you can do a triple somersault off the next 
three bats to the right.  Just be careful to jump as you're walking over the 
thin bridges since they will disintegrate moments after you step on them.  If 
you haven't already somersaulted off the third bat to grab the red emerald in 
the air, do that now.  To grab the red emerald under the bridge, you'll need 
to break the bridge first.  Then jump and glide down.  Push against the right 
side of the broken bridge while gliding and you'll grab hold of the ledge and 
the red emerald.  You didn't have to glide to grab it but gliding is safer 
than walking off and turning around at the last minute.  Now head right and 
somersault off the stalagmite onto the stalactite in the ceiling.  From there 
you can swing and grab the red emerald.  Then while still airborne, grab the 
next stalactite and swing over to the ledge with the emeralds.  Grab them and 
then drop back down and somersault across the stalagmites to the left to grab 
the red emerald.  Now head right and drop down below to the treasure chamber.  
Head right.  Suddenly a skeleton emerges from the gold.  Just wait for it to 
swing its sword before you jump on it.  Head some more to the right where 
some sword familiars will emerge from the gold.  Just jump on them and head 
right where you'll eventually find Carpet.


Stage 2-2
---------
Jump onto the floating rafts.  Dodge the first bat.  Somersault off the 
second bat to grab the red emerald.  Then swing on the stalactites to reach 
the platforms to the right.  Grab the bread on the ledge.  Then drop back 
down onto a raft.  You'll see a rope hanging down.  Grab it and the gate will 
open.  Wait until another raft passes below you before you let go of the 
rope.  Continue to the right and grab onto the group of ledges to the right.  
Climb up and then swing on the stalactites to grab the 1 UP.  Now drop back 
down and board another raft.  Defeat the bat and duck to avoid the ceiling 
spikes.  Then grab the rope.  Wait for another raft to pass and then drop 
down onto it.  Ride the raft some more and then jump onto the ledge with the 
statue on it.  You'll now encounter ice boulders rolling down at you.  Just 
somersault off of them.  Run to the right and hide in the safe spot between 
the first and second slopes.  Then quickly head up.  Watch out for falling 
boulders though.  Once you're at the top you can grab the emeralds to the 
right.  Now take a look at the pit under the emeralds.  Drop down and glide 
to find a hidden area filled with emeralds.  Land on a raft and then throw an 
apple at the bat to defeat it.  Ride the raft to the right where you'll find 
a heart.  Now head left and climb up the ledges.  Then head right to the 
magic lamp.

Escape from the Cave of Wonders
-------------------------------
Angered by Abu's attempt to steal the forbidden treasure, the Cave of
Wonders attempts to destroy Aladdin and Abu as they flee with the lamp.

Stage 3-1
---------
This level will automatically scroll so stay on the screen to stay alive.  
Wait for the fireball to drop down before you jump to the next ledge.  A 
plume of lava will shoot up and send the ledge flying high.  Quickly jump 
across to the next ledge.  Grab the red emerald and swing on the stalactite 
to the ledge to the right.  Quickly hang off both sides to grab the emeralds.  
Wait for the fireballs to drop back down before you make a quick leap across 
the ledges.  Now somersault off the stalagmite to grab onto the next ledge.  
Follow the ledge and you'll have to make some longer jumps.  Just wait for 
the fireballs to drop back down before jumping.  You can't hang off the sides 
of the ledges so make each jump count.  You can swing across the stalactites 
too.  When you reach the last ledge, there will be two fireballs to the 
right.  As soon as the left fireball begins to drop, jump.  Now head right 
and jump to follow the emeralds to the ledge below.  Wait for the fireball 
and then jump to the ledge and onto the next area where you'll find a 
treasure chest with bread inside.  There's another chest to the right with a 
scarab inside.

Now to the right will be a fireball that makes an arched rise and drop.  Jump 
on the ledge and duck to avoid the fireball.  Then quickly hang from the side 
to grab the emeralds.  Jump over to the next ledge.  Now you'll see a 
stalagmite to the right.  Somersault off of it to the next ledge.  Then 
quickly jump on the ledge to the right before the lava plume sends it too 
high for you to reach.  Now you'll have to do a double somersault across the 
stalagmites or you can use the rug to glide past them.  Jump on the ledge 
next to the stalagmites before it rises.  Then head right and somersault off 
the moving stalagmite.  You'll grab the red emerald and the stalactite.  Jump 
to the next ledge.  Then wait for the ledge that rises to drop before 
grabbing the red emerald.  Now stand on the ledge to the right.  You'll 
notice a red emerald above a moving stalagmite surrounded by rising ledges on 
either side.  Just do a quick somersault off the stalagmite and onto the 
right ledge before it rises.  Now jump over to the right to reach the exit.


Stage 3-2
---------
You'll have to escape from the cave now.  This level has no midpoint so 
you'll have to win without dying.  Avoid the falling rocks and walls as well 
as the chasing lava.  As long as you stay under the rug in the status bar 
you'll avoid the lava.  Just move up and down to avoid the walls.  Generally, 
you should move back just after the lava misses you.  Then move forward when 
it returns.  This will give you more room to dodge the oncoming walls.  While 
there's no precise direction, here is a rough map of the level.

Inside the Genie's Lamp
-----------------------
After Aladdin rubs the lamp, the Genie pops out and invites him into the
wild and wacky world inside.

Stage 4-1
---------
In these next three levels, gliding will prove most useful.  Head right from 
the beginning.  Jump onto the cloud platform.  You can jump on the flying 
pots to somersault off them.  Jump across the next few cloud platforms.  The 
emeralds can be grabbed by either hanging off the cloud platform edges or by 
somersaulting off of the flying pots.  You'll now see moving genie heads.  
You can jump or hang from them.  Walk down to the ledge below from the cloud 
platform.  You'll find a hidden bread (or rug if you don't have one) behind 
the clouds.  Now get on top of the genie heads.  Just jump across them.  
Gliding helps a lot when you're jumping from head to head.  There's a jar 
below the heads that contains apples so grab it when you come across it.  
When you see a red emerald between some genie heads, you'll have to 
somersault off the flying pot to grab it.  Then grab on to the genie's 
finger.  Climb up and head right.  You'll notice that there aren't any ledges 
to the right.  Just wait and Genie will appear with a magic wand.  Suddenly 
he'll create either clouds, cards, or rings for you to use to cross the pit.  
What he creates depends on the number of lives you have although I have 
discovered the following patterns.

You can stand on clouds while the cards act like stalagmites and the various 
other objects that you can only somersault of off.  As such, you'd better 
glide after somersaulting off a card to avoid falling down.  As listed above, 
Genie will always create a path of all clouds when you have no lives left so 
if you can't pass the other patterns, just keep dying until you're on the 
last life.  Once you've crossed the pit, head right.  Jump onto the cloud 
platforms.  Pretty soon you will come across two giant rings to the right.  
Notice the big purple circle in the bottom of the ring?  You can swing on it 
so treat it like the other poles you've encountered thus far.  Jump and hang 
on the first ring.  Then swing over to the second ring.  Hidden in the clouds 
above the second ring is a red emerald so just jump off at the peak of your 
swing to grab it.  Then as you're falling down, use the rug to glide to the 
platform to the right.


Stage 4-2
---------
This level involves mostly jumping and swinging so make sure you're ready to 
glide.  Head right.  You'll see balloons that you can either somersault off 
of or swing on.  Be careful if you jump on the balloon as it will pop.  Get 
over to the ledge to the right.  Now use the next balloons to reach the ledge 
to the right.  Then use the next balloon to reach the small ledge.  
Afterwards, use the next balloons to grab the emerald in the sky.  You should 
be able to reach the pink ledge by somersaulting off both balloons.  Head 
right.  Jump over to the first ledge.  You'll see a flying pot and a pole you 
can swing on.  Grab the pole and swing over to the pole next to it.  Do 
another swing to grab the red emerald.  Now glide safely to the small ledge 
below the ceiling spikes.  Don't worry about touching the spikes because they 
don't hurt you.  Now swing on the pole to the right.  Land on the ledge to 
the right of the pole.  Wait for a balloon to rise.  Then quickly jump over 
to the ledge on the other side.  Do it fast as the balloon will pop if it 
touches the spikes.  Defeat the flying pot on the ledge.

Head right and you'll see circular platforms will a green orb in the middle.  
You can stand on the platform and you can somersault off the orb.  Jump to 
the platform.  Then just jump across the next few ledges.  When you reach the 
last ledge, more balloons will be found to the right.  This next area will 
involve you swinging on the balloons and somersaulting so have the rug ready 
to glide since there are no ledges here to stand on.  When you're ready, just 
use the first balloon to reach the orb to the right.  Somersault off the orb 
and land on the balloon.  Somersault off the balloon to reach the next orb.  
Finally, somersault off the orb to reach the ledge to the right.  Grab the 
scarab in the chest.  Then jump across the ledges to the right.  There will 
now be whirlwinds flying around so watch out for them.  You'll then see 
emeralds scattered about the area.  You can glide down to grab the them.  Try 
to defeat all the flying pots in the area to make jumping to the poles safer.  
Then use the poles to swing across to the right.

Swing over to the high ledge from the last pole.  Wait for the two whirlwinds 
to pass before proceeding.  Jump over to the next ledge when they pass.  Just 
jump and glide over the next two ledges to avoid the flying pots.  Land on 
the higher ledge to the right.  You'll see another whirlwind.  Wait for it to 
pass and then jump to the small ledge.  To grab the red emerald, you'll have 
to use the flying pot.  Just somersault off the pot and then somersault off 
the orb.  Glide down to the exit on the ledge to the right.


Stage 4-3
---------
This stage is divided into two parts.  The first part is a vertical climb up.  
Then second part involves jumping across falling boxes.  From the start, jump 
on to the tongue above you.  Run to the left.  Don't worry about the tongues 
retracting all the way since they always leave enough room for you to stand 
on.  Wait on the second tongue until the next tongue is completely extended 
outward.  There's a flying pot in your way so you'll have to be careful not 
to get hit as you jump.  Run over to the right wall.  Wait for the next 
tongue to extend outward and then jump over to it.  Above the tongue is a 
ledge you can climb up to.  You'll see a flying pot to your right.  Just jump 
on it and somersault up.  You should be able to land on the purple orb.  If 
not, then just use the pole and tongue to reach the ledge to the right of the 
orb.  Somersault off the orb onto the tongue above.  Now jump on the flying 
pot and somersault onto the pole.  Swing up to the purple orb.  Now 
somersault off the orb and onto the flying pot.  Use the pot to reach the 
ledge to the right.  Wait for the tongue to the left to extend completely.  
Then jump on to it and then jump to the ledge to the right.  Jump on the 
springs above you.  Now just jump from spring to spring, collecting the 
emeralds as you head up.  Keep springing up and you'll soon be at the ledge 
above the springs.  Now spring up some more and you'll be finished with the 
vertical climb.

Head right.  At the end of the ledge, you'll see some floating boxes.  You 
can jump on or hang off of the boxes.  Beware as the boxes will fall once you 
touch them.  Keep the dash button held down as you'll need the extra momentum 
to make some of the jumps.  When you're ready just jump across the first 
seven boxes.  Now push against the right column.  As the 7th box falls, 
you'll be able to fall over to the right.  You'll grab onto the 8th box.  Now 
jump on to the 9th and 10th boxes.  Jump to the pole from the 10th box to 
reach the 11th box.  You can stay on the pole to take a break from the 
jumping.  Jump onto the 11th box.  Run off and you'll land on the 12th box 
hidden below the column.  Now climb up and jump to the 13th box.  Jump up to 
grab the red emerald.  Then glide down to the 14th box which is hidden below 
the column to the right.  Jump to the 15th and 16th boxes and land on the 
ledge to the right.  Head right and you'll now see balloons and boxes.  Just 
use the balloons to reach the boxes.  When you come to the box left of the 
column, just walk off and land on the box hidden below the left half of the 
column.  Then jump to the next box.  From there one more jump will land you 
on solid ground.  There will be a flying pot to the right.  Somersault off it 
and grab the emerald above the box.  Now walk off and land on the box hidden 
below the right half of the column.  Then jump to the next box to the right.  
Jump to the left to grab the red emerald.  Then immediately use the rug to 
glide to the right.  If you started gliding early enough, you should be able 
to hang on to the right ledge.  The exit is to the right.

The Pyramid
-----------
Lost in the middle of the desert, Abu stumbles into an ancient pyramid and
Aladdin must find him before the grave robbers do.

Stage 5-1
---------
These next three levels have sand in them.  Whenever a ledge has sand running 
off its side, you can't hang from that ledge.  The sand current also pulls 
you in the direction that it is flowing.  Just duck down to stop from moving.  
Jump on the ledge to your right.  Now jump over to the next one.  Jump on to 
the cobra head.  Then jump up to the left and climb up the ledge to grab the 
bread that's there.  Now get back on top of the cobra head.  Jump to the 
cobra heads to the right.  Then jump to the ledge on the right.  Grab the red 
emerald that's up there.  Glide down to the ground below.  Watch out for the 
sand bats and the flow of the current.  Just duck down to stop the current 
from pulling you.  Walk to the right and jump over the pit.  Don't let the 
sand pull you over the edge since you can't hang from the edge to save 
yourself.  Now head right.  Watch out for more sand bats.  Just duck or jump 
on them.  Head right.  When you pass the cobra head and drop down to the 
lower ledge you should see an archer on the ledge to the right.  Throw an 
apple at him.  Then jump on him to defeat him.  To get the red emerald, just 
glide and hang from the edge of the ledge.  Now climb back up and grab the 
bread on the next ledge to the right.  Then jump up and get on top of the 
ledge above you with the emeralds.  Grab them and then jump over to the next 
ledge to the left.  Do one more jump to the left to grab the last emerald 
there.

Now get back to the ledge that had the line of emeralds above it.  Look to 
the right.  There should be falling sand obscuring the path forward.  Just 
jump over to land on a ledge.  There is a pot with bread inside and to the 
right is a chest with the scarab inside.  Walk over to the right side of the 
falling sand.  Then jump over to the next ledge to the right.  There will be 
swinging chains under some ledges above you.  Grab onto the chain and swing 
yourself up on top of the ledge.  Now jump over to the cobra head on the 
left.  Jump and glide to grab the red emerald to the left.  Now get back on 
top of the first ledge with the chain below it.  Jump over to the cobra head 
on the right.  Then jump to the ledge with the red emerald on it.  Now see 
the ledge with the emerald on it to your upper right side?  You can jump and 
grab onto the ledge.  Jump over to the chest to the right.  Grab the chicken 
inside and then follow the line of emeralds straight down to a ledge.  Now 
climb back up to the chest's ledge again.  Instead of falling down now, jump 
and glide to the right.  Glide over to the right until you're behind the 
falling sand.  There is a red emerald hidden by the sand in between the spot 
between the two cobra heads.  Once you've grabbed it, quickly land to the 
left or right of the sand because the sand also is covering a hidden pit.  
Duck to stop the sand from pulling you off the ledge.  Now jump over to the 
next ledges to the right.  The exit will be just past the next few ledges.


Stage 5-2
---------
To grab the emerald, just somersault off of a flying pot.  Head right.  Grab 
the emeralds over the pit by swinging on the pole.  Now wait until the two 
floor spikes retract before you jump through them.  Head right and jump onto 
the sloped ledge with sand on it.  Quickly throw an apple at the archer to 
the right to stun him.  Then jump on him and grab the heart in the chest to 
his right.  You should see a red emerald in the gap next to you.  Drop down 
and grab it.  Then jump back on the ledge before the sand platform 
disintegrates.  Now jump on to the ledge above the sloped ledge with sand on 
it.  Climb up and jump on to the next ledge above.  Grab the emeralds and 
swing on the pole to the steps on the right.  Watch out for sand bats.  Climb 
up the steps.  Pass the second pole.  Jump on to the third pole though.  Then 
swing over to the ledge to the left.  Grab the 1 UP in the chest.  Now head 
to the right.  The jar contains apples.  Now you should see a spike pit with 
moving cobra heads above it.  You can somersault off the cobra heads so use 
them to reach the ledge to the right.  Somersault over the next set of cobra 
heads to reach the next ledge.

Now the cobra heads will be moving in a circle.  Just jump and glide over the 
pit.  There will be some more cobra heads moving in a circle.  If you have 
four or more hearts, then just run across the spike pit instead of jumping on 
the heads.  Grab the red emerald quickly and head to the right.  Climb onto 
the ledge to the right and inside the jar is a chicken.  That's why I told 
you to run through the spike pit.  Now head over to the right.  It's no 
longer possible to avoid jumping on the cobra heads since you have to cross a 
pit instead of a spike pit.  Just wait for the cobra head to be at a low 
elevation before you jump on it otherwise you could miss it and fall to your 
death.  Jump on the first two cobra heads to the ledge with the emeralds.  
Now jump on the next two.  You'll see a red emerald between two cobra heads.  
You can get it by repeatedly somersault off a cobra head to stay on it.  Then 
when the cobra head is at its lowest position, you can quickly grab it and 
somersault to the ledge.  Wait for the floor spike to retract.  Then jump and 
grab the emeralds before it rises again.  The exit is to the right.


Stage 5-3
---------
Head to the right.  Jump over the pit.  There is a spike pit.  In the 
background will be moving chains.  You can grab and swing on the white 
handholds on the chains.  The chains will alternate moving up and down after 
a certain amount of time.  Swing across the pit to the ledge on the other 
side.  Throw an apple at the archer.  Then jump on him.  Continue to the 
right to find another spike pit.  Jump on the chains and swing across.  Be 
sure to swing off before the archer's arrow hits you.  Defeat him and then 
follow the slope to the right.  There is a pole and a floor spike to the 
right.  Just wait for the spike to retract and then use the pole to swing 
over it.  Jump across the pit.

Now you'll see many thin ledges with pits between them.  Jump and glide over 
the pits.  Land on the ledge that is equally high as the ledge the archer is 
on.  Throw an apple at him and then jump on him.  Now jump to the next ledge 
in front of another spike pit.  This time the archer is within your view.  
Throw an apple at him and then swing across before he recovers.  Defeat him 
and stay on the ledge he was on.  Swing over the next spike pit and there 
will be another archer waiting on the other side.  Defeat him as well.  Jump 
over the next spikes and head right.  There will be a swordsman who will 
throw his swords at you.  Just somersault off the swords and onto his head.  
Climb up the steps and head right.  You'll now have to fight the boss of the 
pyramid, the Pharaoh's mask.  Just jump on it once and you'll defeat it.  The 
Mask's identity is none other than...Abu.  Abu will snap out of his hypnotic 
trance.  Now head right to the exit.

A Whole New World
-----------------
Having escaped on from the pyramid, Aladdin or rather Prince Ali of Ababwah 
will soar through the night sky with the Princess on a magic carpet ride.

Bonus Round
-----------
This is just a bonus round to collect emeralds so just follow the them.  The 
rule to remember is that once you pass an emerald, you can't move back to 
grab it again so just let the screen scroll while you just move up and down 
grabbing the emeralds.  The clouds will also hide some of them including the 
red ones.  The gem path is basically as follows.  Note that it is only an 
approximation.  The clouds have been omitted but red emerald 7 is covered by 
a cloud.  The horizontal lines indicate the stage borders.

Jafar's Palace
--------------
Racing back from the ends of the earth, Aladdin must fight his way through
Jafar's palace to save Princess Jasmine.

Stage 6-1
---------
Head right.  When you go through the passageway, there will be a red emerald 
above you.  To the right is a swordsman.  Somersault off his swords to reach 
the emerald.  Defeat him and head right.  You'll come across a chest with 
bread inside.  Head right and a few steps to the right will be another 
swordsman.  Just take out his swords with a jump.  Don't kill him though.  
Just jump over him and head to the right.  Take out the guard you find there.  
Now look at the column that you can walk behind.  Notice the red emerald at 
the top?  To reach it, you'll have to somersault off the swordsman's swords.  
The swordsman will throw swords diagonally upward if you jump high enough so 
gliding will help.  Anyway after you grab it, head right.  Now you'll see 
some moving platforms and flying pots about.  Defeat the pots before you jump 
otherwise you'll get hit.  Jump from platform to platform.  Use the rug to 
glide to safety.  When you see the red emerald, you can grab it by gliding 
and then hanging on to the edge of the moving platforms.  Jump over to the 
right where a swordsman awaits you.  Take him out and head right.

Sword familiars from the background will attack you.  Jump on them to defeat 
them.  To the right is a swordsman.  Above you is a red emerald.  You'll have 
to somersault off his swords to reach the emerald.  Past the swordsman are 
two jars.  They contain apples and bread respectively.  Now to the right are 
some steps.  Above the steps are spiked platforms that smash down at you.  
Wait for the platforms to retract before proceeding further.  Get on top of 
the first platform.  Then jump over to the second one.  You'll find a red 
emerald above it.  Now to the right is a snake head you can somersault off of 
and a pole.  Use both to cross the spike pit below you.  On the other side is 
a 1-Up beneath a moving platform.  Get on top of the platform and then use 
the snake head and pole to the right to cross over the spike pit to the 
ledge.  Jump onto the next two poles.  The swing over to the third pole.  Now 
swing yourself onto solid ground and defeat the archer to the right.  Now 
head right collecting the emeralds as you go.  The exit is to the far right 
side.


Stage 6-2
---------
Head right.  Stand above the snake head design in the floor.  Above you is a 
red emerald.  To reach it, you'll have to lure Iago to fly near the emerald 
and then do a somersault off of him to grab it.  So lure Iago over by running 
forward and moving back far enough so he doesn't drop the skull on you.  
He'll eventually fly close enough so you can somersault off of him.  
Afterwards, head right where you'll find a guard.  Defeat him but watch out 
for Iago though.  Now head right across the bridge.  There will be a 
swordsman in the middle of the bridge.  To his northwest and northeast are 
red emeralds that are off the screen.  You'll have to somersault off his 
swords to grab them.  Head right after you've grabbed them.  You'll see 
lanterns that you can swing on.  When they fall down, they will explode and 
release a flame wave.  So just swing from lantern to lantern.  You'll have 
plenty of time to jump out of the fire's way.  Positioned on the stairs down 
is an archer.  Just jump on a lantern and let him have a taste of fire.  Head 
right where another archer awaits.  Do the same thing to him as you did to 
the previous archer.  Continue heading right where you'll eventually reach a 
chest with a scarab inside.  The chest is guarded by a swordsman to the 
right.  Defeat him and run to the right where you'll find the exit.


Stage 6-3
---------
Head right.  You'll come across an archer on a ledge higher than the one 
you're standing on.  Take him out.  Watch out for Iago though.  Now to the 
right is another ledge that's a little higher than the one before it.  To the 
right is another archer on a higher ledge still.  Throw and apple to stun 
him.  Then swing on the pole and on to his head.  Somersault off the archer 
and grab the emeralds as you're airborne.  Now jump onto the next pole on the 
right.  Defeat the guard below you.  Head right and jump on the next pole you 
come across.  Now swing across the poles to reach the high ledge.  Just stay 
swinging on the pole before the ledge to give the guard a good kick.  Now 
land on the ledge and go right.

You'll now see fire that will rise and lower from the ground covering half 
the screen.  You'll get hurt if you touch the flames so stay above the fire 
at all costs.  Jump on the first moving platform.  Stay on it until the fire 
lowers.  When it does, quickly drop down and grab the red emerald on the 
ground.  Now quickly run to the right and use the platform climb back up 
before the fire gets you.  Stay on top of the stairs while the fire is still 
high.  When it drops back down, charge to the right where you'll find several 
ledges.  One has a chest with a 1-Up inside while the other has an archer on 
it.  Defeat the archer and wait until the fire dies down before proceeding.  
Head right and grab the apples in the jar.  Then use the poles around you to 
swing yourself up onto the higher ledge to avoid the flames.  When the flames 
die down again, swing across the poles to the right.  The next jar you find 
has nothing inside so skip it.

Quickly head right.  Avoid the sword familiars as you don't have time to 
fight them.  Quickly get yourself on the high ledge to avoid getting burned.  
Now look at the tracks of the moving platform to the right.  If the tracks 
show that the platform will move to the bottom row, then jump on the ring 
above the ledge you're standing on to change the platform's tracks.  Ride the 
platform to the right.  Quickly jump on the higher ledge to avoid the flames.  
The jar on the ledge contains a chicken so grab it when the flames die down.  
Then head right where you'll find another ledge and another moving platform.  
This time there are two rings to pull.  Each one will change the left and 
right tracks respectively.  Just watch where the tracks go and that's where 
the platform will go.  When it starts moving to the right, just jump on and 
ride it over to the right.  Jump off on to the ledge past the spikes.  Now 
jump and glide over to the right.  You'll grab a red emerald that's high in 
the sky.  Then drop down and grab the bread in the chest.  Now head right to 
do battle with Jafar.

Jafar will appear and fly in the sky.  You'll need to jump on his head 6 
times to defeat him.  Unfortunately, he's flying way out of your jump range 
so you'll have to find another way to reach him.  Fortunately, his attacks 
provide you the opportunity to reach him.  One of his attacks is to fly to 
the center of the screen and drop his scepter to the ground.  When it drops, 
immediately jump to avoid the shockwave that comes out.  Then Jafar will 
hover down to the other side of the screen.  Somersault off the scepter and 
on to Jafar's head.  He'll then counterattack by summoning three lighting 
bolts to strike down at you.  Just keep moving left and right to avoid them.  
Jafar's second attack is to swing his scepter.  Suddenly four flying pots 
appear.  Just stand to either side of them to avoid them.  You can also throw 
apples at them to defeat them.  It's risky to somersault off them to Jafar 
since you'll probably miss most of the time.  Just wait for Jafar to drop the 
scepter instead to attack.  Sometimes Jafar will hover down with no attack.  
This is the best time to strike at him.  Six hits and Jafar will disappear.  
Head right to end the level.

Final Battle
------------
Stage 7
-------
The final battle for the fate of Agrabah will commence.  Head right and grab 
the chicken to get healed up.  Now head right and prepare to face Jafar for 
the second and final time.  Jafar will transform into a giant cobra.  You'll 
be standing on his body.  Below you is a wall of fire.  To defeat Jafar, 
you'll need to jump on his head 5 times.  It won't be easy as his head is out 
of your jump range.

Jafar is easy to defeat if you know his attack pattern.  He has two attacks.  
The first is to spit two rocks out at you.  You can run under them or you can 
somersault off of them to reach Jafar.  The second attack is a head lunge 
that Jafar will use when his body is moving up and down.  Jump when his body 
is at the highest point to avoid getting burned by the fire.  By the same 
token, you can also jump and reach his head.  If you are quick you'll be able 
to hit Jafar more than once (one from jumping, the other when he lunges at 
you).  After this, he'll use the same attacks again.  Just keep jumping on 
his head and Jafar will be dead soon enough...or will he?

 VIII.  SECRETS AND CODES
=============================================================================
Advice from Genie
-----------------
1.  When swinging from a beam, Aladdin can knock enemies over with his feet.

2.  Aladdin can jump a bit further if he gets a running start.

3.  To defeat some enemies, Aladdin needs to somersault off their heads
    several times.

4.  If Aladdin gets hit by an enemy or object, he will become invincible for
    a second. Use this time to get by any troublesome obstacles.

5.  When riding the Magic Carpet, don't fly too far forward or Aladdin won't
    be able to see the twists and turns ahead.


Endings
-------
Collect the red emeralds to get a different ending when the credits scroll.  
51-59 emeralds results in the credits being shown while Aladdin goes through 
each level instead of the usual carpet ride credits.  There may be more but I 
haven't confirmed it yet.


Extra Lives in the Bonus Stages
-------------------------------
When playing the bonus stages, press B when the genie blinks for an easy 1-Up 
or 2-Up. 


Level Select
------------
On the option screen, using Controller 2, press L, R, Start, Select, X, Y, A, 
B.  Do this quickly and you'll hear a chime when it is done correctly.  On 
Controller 1, select "Exit" to return to the title screen.  Then, using 
Controller 1, hold the L and R Buttons, and use the Control Pad to choose
your starting world and stage.
