1.                                Introduction

Published in 1985, Adventure H: Robin Hood is the last in a series of eight
interactive fiction adventures made by Artic Computing. The aim in the game is
to recover the treasure and rescue Maid Marian from the castle. The game has
lots of illustrated locations, although many of the locations (including the
numerous turrest posts in the castle) are unnecessary.

2.                                Walkthrough

===============================================================================


The game starts in a forest clearing. GET LAMP. Move SOUTH to the major oak.
GET FLINT. LIGHT LAMP with the flint. DROP FLINT. EXAMINE TREE to see an
opening. Move IN to the major oak. GET BONE key. Move OUT of the major oak.
Move NORTH twice to the small clearing. READ SIGN to see an opening. Move IN to
the minor oak. GET CURIOUS looking key. Move OUT of the minor oak.

Move SOUTH and WEST to see a small cottage. UNLOCK DOOR with the bone key. DROP
BONE key. Move IN to the cottage. GET FOOD. GET KNIFE. GET BUCKET. Move OUT of
the cottage. Move SOUTH and DOWN to the bottom of the well. UNLOCK SAFE with
the curious looking key. DROP CURIOUS looking key. GET COIN. Move UP, NORTH,
EAST twice, SOUTH twice and UP to the top of the catapult. CUT ROPE with the
knife to land on a haystack in the castle courtyard.

DROP KNIFE. Move DOWN to the small well. FILL BUCKET with water from the well.
Move SOUTH, SOUTHEAST and SOUTH to the blacksmith's workshop. PAY BLACKSMITH
for the helmet and he will run out of the workshop. Move NORTH, NORTHWEST and
EAST to the main castle entry. EXAMINE GUARD to see that he is hungry. FEED
GUARD with the food from the cottage. Move EAST to the great entry.

DROP HELMET. Move EAST three times, DOWN and SOUTH twice to the kitchen. GET
HAM. Move NORTH, WEST and SOUTH to the passage. GET SHIELD. Move NORTH, EAST,
NORTH, UP and WEST three times to the great entry. DROP HAM. Move UP and WEST
to the large hall. EXAMINE THRONE to see a silver key. Move NORTH to the turret
post. GET ARMOUR. WEAR ARMOUR. Move SOUTH, SOUTHEAST and EAST to the library.

EXAMINE LIBRARY to see a leather bound book. Move SOUTHEAST, UP, WEST, NORTH
and WEST to the bedroom. EXAMINE BED to see a hat pin. GET PIN. Move WEST and
NORTH to the closet. GET BOOTS. WEAR BOOTS. Move SOUTH, EAST twice and NORTH to
the sheriff's room. KILL SHERIFF with the bow and arrows. DROP BOW. EXTINGUISH
FIRE with the bucket of water. DROP BUCKET. EXAMINE POKER to see that it is
loose. LIFT POKER to enter the smoky room. GET TORCH.

INSERT TORCH in the sconce to enter a secret hall. Move NORTH to the chamber.
PULL ROPE to hear music. SEARCH ROOM to find a secret door. Move IN to the
decorated room. GET TREASURE. Move OUT of the secret room. Move SOUTH, EAST
twice, DOWN, WEST and DOWN to the great entry. GET HAM. GET HELMET. WEAR
HELMET. Move EAST twice to the dining hall. SEARCH ROOM to find a secret door.
Move IN to the small tower. Move UP three times to the top of the tower.

PICK LOCK with the hat pin. DROP PIN. Move IN to the small room. FEED MARION
with the ham. UNTIE MARION. CARRY MARION. Move OUT of the small room. Move DOWN
three times, OUT and WEST six times to the gate house. EXAMINE PORTCULLIS to
see an iron handle. TURN HANDLE to lower the drawbridge. Move WEST, NORTH twice
and WEST to the forest clearing to complete the game.

3.                                 Item List

BOW AND SOME ARROWS
  Available at the start of the game. It is used to kill the sheriff in the
  sheriff's room on the second floor of the castle.


BUCKET FULL OF WATER
  Found by filling the empty bucket from the well in the castle courtyard. It
  is used to extinguish the fire in the sheriff's room on the second floor of
  the castle.


CHAIN MAIL ARMOUR
  Found in the turrest post north of the large hall on the first floor of the
  castle. It is worn to survive entering the small room at the top of the
  tower.


CURIOUS LOOKING KEY
  Found inside the Minor Oak tree in the forest. It is used to unlock the safe
  at the bottom of the well near the cottage in the forest.


EMPTY BUCKET
  Found in the cottage. It is filled from the well in the castle courtyard.


FLINT
  Found outside the Major Oak tree in the forest. It is used to light the lamp.


FOOD
  Found in the cottage. It is used to feed the guard outside the main castle
  entry.


HAM
  Found in the kitchen in the castle basement. It is used to feed Maid Marion
  in the small room at the top of the tower.


HELMET
  Found by giving the gold coin to the blacksmith in the workshop. It is worn
  to survive entering the small room at the top of the tower.


GOLD COIN
  Found at the bottom of the well near the cottage in the forest. It is given
  to the blacksmith in the workshop to receive the helmet.


JEWELED HAT PIN
  Found by examining the bed in the bedroom on the second floor of the castle.
  It is used to pick the door lock at the top of the tower.


LAMP
  Found in the forest clearing. The flint is used to light the lamp.


LARGE BONE KEY
  Found inside the Major Oak tree in the forest. It is used to unlock the door
  to the cottage in the forest.


LEATHER BOUND BOOK
  Found by examining the library on the first floor of the castle.


LIT LAMP
  Made by lighting the lamp with the flint. It is used to provide light in the
  Major Oak, Minor Oak and the decorated room in the castle.


MAID MARION
  Found at the top of the tower. After feeding the ham to Marion, she is then
  carried back to the forest clearing.


PAIR OF BOOTS
  Found in the closet on the second floor of the castle. They can be worn.


SHIELD
  Found in the passage in the basement. It is used to protect Robin against the
  sheriff in the sheriff's room on the second floor of the castle.


SILVER KEY
  Found by examining the throne in the large hall on the first floor of the
  castle.


SMALL SHARP KNIFE
  Found in the cottage. It is used to cut the rope at the top of the catapult.


SUIT OF LINCOLN GREEN
  Available at the start of the game. It is not used.


TORCH
  Found in the smoky room. It is inserted into the sconce in the smoky room to
  enter the secret hall.


TREASURE
  Found in the decorated room on the second floor of the castle. The treasure
  and Maid Marion are taken to the forest clearing to complete the game.
