The codename for the 32X was the "Mars".

Sega originally planned to produce a 2-in-1 Sega Genesis and 32X console, to be released in the fall of 1995, named the "Sega Neptune". However, with its planned release date being so close to that of the Saturn and worries that it could possibly negatively affect its sales, the Neptune was ultimately cancelled in October of that year.
