Tips

Here are a few tips that may help improve your gameplay:

  • Try to view every event and sub-event when you are in Zelwinds City. Some open up new facets of the game and those that don't may still be revealing, or at least interesting.
  • You may find it easier to relate to the maps in this Guide if you turn off "Rotate Minimap" in the game's Config settings.
  • Look everywhere when you are exploring so you don't miss treasure opportunities.
  • Use Save Points you run across in dungeon areas. Finding one usually means a boss battle is upcoming. If you don't get a desired item drop from a boss, you can try again.
  • Use Weapon Boost early and spend WP on additional combo slots to increase the number of attacks you can execute per turn. Then learn any restorative spells or stealing abilities available. Learn Backtrack early, too. It lets you leave the dungeon, which restores your HP/SP and resets random treasures.
  • As soon as you can, have the character who will most often be party leader learn Item Sonar and Vigilance. Item Sonar lets you detect hidden treasure and Vigilance prevents Ambush attacks by enemies.
  • Eventually, you will have more characters than you can put in the battle party. Teach everyone Learning, so they can earn EXP, WP and Fairy EXP even when they don't participate in battle.
  • When approaching an enemy, try to get in a Symbol Attack before they reach you. You can start the battle with a preemptive attack.
  • Use multi-hit combos and skills to more rapidly fill a character's Tension Gauge.
  • Fairize when your Tension permits it. Your stats will increase and there are some skills you can only use when you are in Fury Form.
  • Take advantage of an enemy's weaknesses. Early in the game, there is generally more advantage to be gained from targeting an enemy's weapon weaknesses than any elemental weakness. As characters learn higher level skills and spells, weapon weaknesses become less important.
  • Take care when casting "Cure-All" type spells in battle. If an enemy is within the spell's area of effect, you will heal it too.
  • Consider Fairies to be in two groups: those with abilities that help the characters who equip them, and those with less important abilities. Use the latter group in Godly Revival to remove Furies with the most beneficial World Shaping Effects.
  • Remember to periodically equip Fairies you normally use in World Shaping so they can level up and expand the range of their shaping effects.
  • If you are doing the Pub Quests side quest, wait to talk with Guillermo until after you learn your next destination. He will usually have new quests related to that location.
