New Game Plus

After you complete the game and the credits finish rolling, you can continue with a New Game Plus. There will be a New Game Plus screen and you will be given the opportunity to select things to be carried over to your new game. The categories shown on that screen are:

  • Characters
  • Character levels
  • Weapon Boost status
  • Fairies
  • Items
  • Gold
  • Playtime
  • Quest Rank
  • Revival Rank

All of these items are automatically selected for you. If, for some reason, you don't want to carry something over, you need to deselect it.

Though not mentioned on the New Game Plus screen, the following also carry over:

  • Play data
  • Challenges status
  • Enemy Data
  • Character Info
  • Images in the Picture Gallery
  • Songs in the Sound Gallery

When you start a New Game Plus, you also receive:

  • The Rank A Fairies, Cristinger and Jaeger (You can level up and equip these Fairies, but you can't use them in Godly Revival)
  • Famitsu Bath Towel x9
  • Red Hand Towel x9
  • Nepgeardam Head x15

Before beginning a New Game Plus, you need to choose the Difficulty level for your new game.

If you want to earn the Road of Thorns Trophy, you need to play an entire game, from Prologue through Ending Credits, with the Difficulty setting on Hard and without changing the Difficulty setting during your game.

You can only begin a New Game Plus by finishing a game and continuing to the New Game Plus screen. You cannot begin a New Game Plus from the Title Screen. That means your only opportunity to set the Difficulty level for a New Game Plus is when you are selecting the options for a New Game Plus after completing the game.

Make sure to select the Hard Difficulty level for one of your New Game Plus playthroughs.

Some things you are accustomed to will not be available until they are introduced again through the story:

  • Fairize
  • Equipping Fairies
  • Synthesis
  • Godly Revival (all of the seals have been replaced on the Goddess and the Vile God)
  • World Shaping (until your Fairies are used in Godly Revival again, they have no World Shaping effects)
  • Weaknesses
  • Avalanche Attacks
  • Special Command Abilities
  • Quests
  • Shukesoo's Tower side quest (after visiting during the story line, your progress is restored)
  • Fang's additional combo slot

Characters with the Learning ability will gain EXP even when Fang battles solo. You can view characters' Status. Their portraits in the menus will be marked "EX" until they join the party through the story line. Characters all have their initially equipped items.

Characters who have not yet been introduced through the story line still can be placed in the battle party by using Formation in the Battle Options menu.
