Bloody Palace

Stages 98-101

The final battles of the Bloody Palace have the same rules as Dante Must Die. You'll take extreme damage while doing half as much as on Devil Hunter. All of the Bosses can use Devil Trigger themselves, increasing their damage output further and decreasing incoming damage.

Stages 98-101 happen in sequence with no break in between. Unlike other boss battles, from 98-100, you keep your health and only get refilled again after completing Stage 100. In addition, you can't use the suspend function at any point in between, so you can't make manual back-ups either. Take this time to suspend the game and make manual back-ups before continuing onward.

Stage 98

This battle is the same as the Urizen battle at the end of Mission 08. Be sure to check the Urizen section of Bestiary for more information on the basics.

Unlike that battle, however, you're in the middle of a marathon. For that reason, always favor retreat and self-defense over attack. Any time you see a collection of orange energy, drop down. If the crystal stabs outward, you're good, otherwise, prepare to dodge an incoming meteor. If you're further out, it will be easier, but your best bet is to just time your dodge very well.

Other attacks should be very familiar, but even the simple Rain attack should be dodged at all costs. Also, keep in mind that this is the Dante Must Die version of Urizen, so expect faster and double attacks (such as two Beam attacks).

If you absolutely need to, back all the way out and shoot until he falls. This will take much longer, but if you've got the time, you can use it. Just be careful because the longer the battle, the more attacks you'll have to dodge

Stage 99

This fight is based on the second phase of the battle at the end of Mission 12. Check the second section of Urizen in the Bestiary for more information

In this instance, range isn't necessarily your friend. Getting far away will encourage Urizen to attack with his Tentacles, which are tough to dodge and knock you backward. The best place to be is around his upper left shoulder. From here, hit a few times and then keep dodging to your right so that you're causing him to keep turning towards you.

This is the best spot to be. Use as many charged attacks as possible, and remember that dodging is paramount. Use Enemy Step to hop off of his shoulder to get extra height if needed to dodge some of his attacks. If he does his shockwave attack, try to put yourself against a wall so you don't bounce too far.

Naturally, V will have to engage from a distance, but hopefully your companions will draw most of Urizen's attention. Remember that using Devil Trigger will revive Shadow and Griffon from a stalemate, so keep that in your back pocket to get out of a jam. If the tentacles target you, wait for the first homing tentacle to touch you before immediately dodging away from it to the side. His dodge is particularly fast and should hopefully put V out of harm's way.

Stage 100

This fight is based on the battle in Mission 17. Make sure to check the Ultimate Urizen section of the Bestiary for more information.

While you do get a full heal at the end of this level, you still want to play it fairly safe here. The last phase of this battle, Urizen activates Devil Trigger and gets far more aggressive. He can do a lot of damage very quickly and you're probably already starting at about 50% health on a good run.

You're still aiming to get to the same spot. Remember to stay off of the red land when he uses his spike attack, and try to put yourself against a wall when he uses his shockwave attack. In this battle, he can get quite far away, so remember to deactivate your DT if you need to close the distance on him.

Try to get as high as you can in the final phase to stay safe during the final 20% or so of the fight. He'll start doing his running attack which I found to be the most frustrating attack he has in this form. Other than that, I find this fight easier than the previous one.

Stage 101

This one is for all the marbles. It's hard to say exactly which version of Vergil this is, but it's probably the version faced by Dante in Mission 19. He has all of his moves, but he seems much harder to stagger than the version ou face in Mission 20. For the most part, the fight is otherwise the same, so be sure to check the Vergil section of the Bestiary for more info.

You don't necessarily need to play this fight any different as it's nearly identical to if you played this fight on Dante Must Die. In fact, there's little reason to not practice on those missions to get familiar with how the fight goes (if you're playing from a suspend point).

After about 50% health, remember to watch for him casting multiple dark orbs in sequence and for his Slay attack which does 10 bars of damage in a single hit.

If you're playing as Nero, wait for him to execute a move and hit him with a Punch Line followed by a charged shot before he puts his sword away. This will take of a good chunk of health and usually will temporarily stun lock him, allowing for you to follow up with melee attacks.

If you're playing Dante, use Trickster in a similar situation to teleport up to him (R1 + forward + O/B) and hit him with an aerial combo before unloading a charged shotgun blast to the face.

If you're playing as V, try to hit him with a charged attack from Griffon at that point. Using charged attacks with Griffon doesn't stop you in mid-air the way it does to the other two. Use this to your advantage but don't get carried away using double jump to dodge or you'll cancel your charge attacks.

Use this to whittle him down. It's a long fight and you don't want to rush. Wait for your opening and strike. If you attack to early, his attack will probably hit you. If you attack late, he'll almost certainly block it and potentially follow up with a counter. Getting your timing just right and seeing his openings from a distance is key.

This is still the toughest fight in the game, and it will take some practice. Hopefull you got the practice before hand or you have a manual back-up save as outlined in the Bloody Palace Overview section so you don't have to replay 100 levels just to try again.

Good luck!
