Walkthrough / Before You Start
Mission 09: Genesis
Tangled up in Memories
Begin by running down the path in front of you. After you jump your first barrier, you'll be attacked by two Empusa and a Caina. Be relentless in this small space and they'll be toast in no time.
Continue along the path as it leads you into a large open space. Here you'll encounter your first Behemoth.
| New Enemy: Behemoth - Armor - 150 Health (per side), Body - 4200 Health |
The Behemoth is a big and imposing enemy, but he's not too bad once you know how he works. The first thing you might notice is the harness on him. While he's like that, he'll do little more than charging at you or short range tackle attacks. To take him out, you have to hit him enough that the harness comes off. Once it does, you'll have a different fight on your hands. Without the harness, the Behemoth is much more likely to swing his head and body side to side, and his two tongues will lash about in front of him. His tail is probably the safest place to attack at this point, but you want to watch for him tensing up. When he does this, he's likely to jump backward. At this point, a backstep or side dodge can help avoid damage while positioning you to follow up the attack. Usually, it's best to go for small enemies when a large enemy is around, but the Behemoth isn't nearly as much of a threat up close as he is far away because he will frequently charge at you from off-screen while you are busy with something else. For this reason, it's much better to tackle him before he tackles you. When you try to execute it, you can actually ride it for a short while, but I've never found it to be particularly worth the time unless it's already in the middle of a bunch of enemies. |
Along with the Behemoth will be two Caina and an Antenora. While it might be tempting to go for the two easy targets to thin the field, you're really going to want to focus on the Behemoth until it's toast. If you're going to summon Nightmare, do it early because you'll want to come out of this fight with at least 3 DT bars. Once the chains come off, try to keep away from his front and have Shadow attack from the side of its tail. Once it's out of the way, clean up the rest of the enemies as you usually would.
Follow the newly opened path and grab the scattered Red and Green Orbs ahead. On the left will be a small lit archway which will likely call to you, but don't go that way just yet. Directly ahead and up a couple of large steps will be a collapsed wall with a Gold Orb. Use DT to summon Nightmare. This will free-up the Gold Orb, clear the path, and unlock the Eagle-Eyed achievement.
The Long and Short
| The path ahead will lead you to the next area and save a bunch of time, but returning to that lit archway and following that path will be more rewarding. |
Return to the lit archway and follow the path while grabbing the Red Orb Cluster along the way. Once the path opens to a larger space, you'll encounter a Red Empusa for the harvesting. Once defeated, find the raised road and follow that to a cliff. At the base, you'll find another Red Empusa, which you should take care of before proceeding. At the top of the road behind a house will be a Red Crystal.
Turn around to drop off and you should see another cliff on the side of the road below. Scale that to find yourself in a battle with two Antenora, two Pyrobats, and a Red Empusa. It's a tight space, so you may want to forego the Empusa in favor of the more threatening enemies, but that depends on your comfort. Deal with the Empusa as you like and then take out the Pyrobats next.
Once that's done but before scaling further, look back over the edge of the cliff to find a coffin with a White Orb above it. Keep climbing and claim the Red Orb Cluster and Green Orb on the left side. Jump the gap ahead to reach the Large Red Crystal (Use R1+O/B to execute a Gambit dash before double jumping) before dropping down to collect the two Red Crystals down here.
Run through the archway ahead and drop into the next area where you'll encounter two Proto Angelos, two Pyrobats, and a Baphomet. Definitely use your DT to drop in Nightmare. He'll more than likely deal with the slower enemies, the Angelos, so take that time to go first for the Baphomet and then the Pyrobats. If you need to flee, jump on the raised section of land. Whatever you do, do NOT take the White Orb nearby. That's needed for something else.
Once you've eliminated that threat, head towards the newly opened path but don't drop down. Turn left just past the end of the row of archways and loop around the rock next to the White Orb. You'll see a larger archway blocked by vines. Use your DT to summon Nightmare and hit the Blood Clot on the way down.
Once the path is cleared, run directly forward into this small rotunda to find Blue Orb Fragment #16. Directly ahead of you will be a slightly taller section of the wall. Jump up to the lower section next to it, walk up the ramp to the higher section, and then face the archway you came through in the first place to find Secret Mission 06.
| Secret Mission 06: Kill all demons within 20 seconds. |
This mission tasks you with eliminating all enemies in the level in just 20 seconds. Traditional combat isn't going to cut it here, unfortunately. Fortunately, that makes it even easier. Directly ahead will be a tentacle. Just behind that tentacle, two Caina will spawn. Run up and defeat the tentacle with Shadow and Griffon as quickly as you can. As soon as it's dead and the Caina are in the arena enough to be damaged, use your DT to summon Nightmare. He will land on top of them for massive damage. Lay into them with your two other companions if they aren't ready to be executed. Once they are dead, you'll be done. It might take a couple of tries just to get the rhythm down, but once you get this strategy down, you shouldn't even come close to running out of time (relatively speaking). |
Completing the secret mission will net you Blue Orb Fragment #17.
Head back out through the archway and take a left. Climb down the cliff and collect the Red Orbs and two Red Crystals on the way down. At the bottom, get the Red Crystal on the right side of the path. As you walk along the water, grab the Green Orb on the left side. You'll come upon a broken staircase and just before it will be a Tentacle. Kill it and grab the Red Orb on the stairs.
Continue to the end of the walkway before jumping up to a platform in front of a large building. Check left of the doorway before entering for a Red Crystal. Enter the building when you're ready.
The Crypt
In the first hallway, you'll be attacked by two Caina and two Pyrobats. After destroying the first Caina, it will be replaced by an Antenora. Try to focus on attacks that cover as much of the width of the hallway as possible to make quick work of these enemies. Griffon's Blockade (Charged Square/X + forward) is a fantastic choice here as is Shadow's Breakthrough (R1/RB+forward+Triangle/Y).
Once the path is clear, proceed into a larger room with a Green Crystal to the left and a Red Crystal on the far side of a pit. When you're ready, drop into the pit.
You'll immediately be beset by two Caina and two Empusa. Make short work of them and save the White Orb and your DT. You'll need at least three bars after the fight. Once the room is clear, you'll see a doorway leading out. Just to the left of that will be a similar doorway that's been boarded up. Summon Nightmare while standing in front of it to have it knocked down.
Run quickly into the next room to trigger a battle with a Tentacle, three Caina, and two Antenora. You should still have Nightmare at your disposal here, if you're lucky, and Nightmare will tear this place up. Get out of the way and do some reading in the corner while having your other two companions help out with the Antenora (leave the Caina to collateral for now).
Once they are defeated, Purple Orb Fragment #3 will appear in front of an open doorway. Grab that and go back into the previous room.
From the doorway leading outside, jump across to the small platform with the Red Orb on it. Turn left and scale the small platforms. When you reach the top one (with the Red Orb Cluster on it), jump up, and then perform a double jump to the right to land onthe next floor up. There's not much accessible space here, but you'll find Blue Orb Fragment #18 up here.
With this in hand, you can drop off the edge here and walk to the end of this corridor. As you start scaling the rocks ahead, make sure to collect the two Red Crystals on the way.
When you re-enter the building, you'll get into a battle with two Antenora and a Baphomet. There's a White Orb on the far side of the arena, but hold on to that for now and just take out the Baphomet real quick before fighting the Antenora. As their numbers dwindle, a Behemoth will join the party. If it gets hairy, you can use DT to make your life easier.
Gotta Get Out
Follow the hallway out of the crypt and hit the two Red Crystals on the way out. Also, be sure to grab the Green Orb and the White Orb on the far end of the hallway. Outside, before heading for the lit up are with the elevated coffin, turn towards the cliff. You'll find a Gold Orb on a set of broken stairs leading down to the waterway you were above earlier.
Move to the lit area or try to leave and you'll be attacked by a Death Scissors. This enemy is a little bit awkward because of the lack of direct combat, but that still comes with you being much safer. Partway through the battle, another Death Scissors will appear. Eventually, an Antenora and Caina will join the battle. These stakes are still pretty low, so just make sure to watch your back in case they appear behind you. At this point, especially if there's a Death Scissors still around, summon Nightmare to make your life easier/faster.
Follow the pathway beyond and make sure to grab the Red Crystal on the right as you proceed. You'll peek back into a hallway with three Red Crystals and a few Red Orbs before you come back out to a bright open space. Grab the Red and Green Crystals in the right corner and then the second Red Crystal by the Phone Booth in the archway.
For this shopping trip, I don't really have any big recommendations. Your next battle is more of a mini-boss than a full boss-fight. If you feel comfortable with your ability to deal with multiple heavy enemies, then focus on Blue/Purple Orbs. When you're ready, proceed through the archway, being sure to grab the White Crystal on the way.
| Mini-Boss: Nobodies |
Despite this, when they DO act, it's usually pretty vicious. They can move fast, be unpredictable, and hit pretty hard when they do. If they stand up on their hind legs or get close while they have an arm sticking out of their back, immediately retreat. Considering how much space you have, get some distance, summon Nightmare (you should start with full DT), and fight from a distance while you read. The most important thing to remember while you do this is to check your flanks from time to time. They are quite low to the ground and you may not be able to see them easily as they approach you even if you have your back to a wall. As long as you keep your distance and read, you should be able to summon Nightmare twice in this fight and you'll have very little to worry about. |

Please see
Nobodies are an odd enemy for sure. They tend to get distracted by all sorts of things (such as if one of their masks ends up on the ground) and they'll occasionally be more interested in dancing than fighting.
