Hordes

Hordes are Infestations flipped upside-down. Instead of trying to find the needle in the haystack and destroy the nests, you'll need to destroy a huge quantity of Freakers instead. Because of this, they are orders of magnitude more dangerous than Infestation Zones. Taking them out is still largely about planning, but you'll going to want a back-up escape plan, and then a back-up for your back-up.
