COD4, is it a shooter with the staying power of RFOM?
When I first heard that Infinity Ward wasn't doing a WWII shooter I was a bit skeptical. However, this game shuns all fears and delivers in all areas the trailers promised.
Graphics- Outstanding. The best looking since bioshock on the 360. You'll see awesome smoke effects, crazy backgrounds, and lush scenery. The player models, the weapon detail, nothing is disapointing. It would be VERY hard to find a fault with how this game looks. 10/10
Sound- This game has minimal sounds, but the weapons all sound hyper-realistic. Explosions are nicely done as well. The breif musical interludes actually set the tone really well. In my opinion the sound, or lack thereof adds to the mood exceptionally. The little bonus rap at the end was also really funny. 8/10
Campaign- One of the best campaigns in game history. Your always doing something different. There is a huge plot twist right in the middle which may pull some heartstrings and adds to the games closing levels. There are a few parts where you just seem to be mowing down enemies without any real win condition other then "frag 'em all" and they tend to drag. Luckily these are few and far between with most levels having something new to add to the table. Your sure to find something you like in here, its almost certain. 9/10
Gameplay- Very tight control scheme is easy for just about anyone to pick up and play. Although the game makes you rely on zoom more then most, everything does what its supposed to do. Weapons are realistic, but do have that fantasy element as well. After beating campaign you unlock arcade mode, with adds whole new life to the experience. I would recommend this game to anyone even if it were only single player. The most important thing though is that its just plain fun. 10/10
Online- This is a mixed bag. 90% of it is awesome. Tons of maps of varying sizes, unique create-a-class system, perks system, leaderboards, just awesome. The other ten percent comes in the form of the current awful party system. It seems to be plagued with people getting drop before, durring, or after matches. It also seems to never let anyone join either. No in game messaging service makes it really difficult to convey any party intentions, or information. Matchmaking is also right now taking longer then it should. It is a blast to play though, and a real challenge. 8/10
Overall this game is essentially a must buy. Almost perfect. I really hope the few online issues posted are addressed.
