Question Details

  1. So basically, I am near on this game's end now. Level 97 on Proud Mode, going for the Unknown and Sephi kill. And I was kinda wondering about the difference about both of the secret endings, or if there's even a 'both' in the first place.

I've read on other articles about this game's secret ending, and I found out that there are two versions (dunno if its two secret endings on the game or just two versions), one being the Another Side, Another Story and the other having the same name but has a 'DEEP DIVE' after it.

So my question is, what is the difference about them both? Or if its a two lockable secret endings on the game or is there any difference that is essential to the storyline?

Any answers and feedback are appreciated. Thanks!

Accepted Answer

  1. These extra scenes were labeled in-game as "Special Secret" and "Special Movie" respectively. They are NOT special endings to KH itself, but are rather teasers for KH2 that was still in development at the time.

The first "special secret", "Another side, another story" (1.24 minutes), missing from the original Japanese release, was added to the North American and other worldwide releases. To unlock: Complete the Hades Cup (together) at Olympus Coliseum, recover all 99 Dalmatian puppies, seal the keyhole for every world, and complete Monstro. In the Missable Guide, search for "special secret" to learn more.

The second "special movie", "Another side, another story [deep dive]" (3:05 min), was then added to Japan's Final Mix (KH-FM) release, which is what's included in the ReMix 1.5 collection.

Sadly, the old "ASAS/Deep Dive" FAQ for KH Final Mix contributed by holybishop15, which also included script translations, was removed over a year ago. But that guide is the source of the above runtimes and the following unlocking info....

    ---

To unlock Deep Dive and ASAS you need to complete these goals in Final Mix:

    Final Mix Difficulty:
    Another Side, Another Story-
    - Finish the story on all worlds.
    - Rescue all of the 101 Dalmatians.

Deep Dive: Another Side, Another Story Extended-
    - All of above.
    - Complete Jiminy's journal, it is complete when a yellow Mickey icon appears at each entry.

    Proud Difficulty:
    Another Side, Another Story-
    - Beat the game.

Deep Dive: Another Side, Another Story Extended-
    - Finish story on all worlds.
    - Win Hades Cup, normal round

    ---

You can unlock one OR the other each playthrough, meeting those criteria.

BTW, the green-field scene is the usual ending for KH. Nothing special needed.

Other Answers

  1. The "Standard Ending" concludes after the credits with a scene where Sora, Donald and Goofy agree to follow Pluto to pursue their next objective. (This also happens to be the opening scene for Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories)

In the original (PlayStation 2) version of Kingdom Hearts, the "Secret Ending" that followed the "Standard Ending" had the title "Another Side, Another Story".

In the PlayStation 3 Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix version of Kingdom Hearts, the "Secret Ending" that follows the "Standard Ending" is titled "Another Side, Another Story (Deep Dive)".

The Remix endings are "extended" versions of the Original endings. It is my understanding that there is but a single "secret Ending for each game. (Perhaps the motivation for the "Deep Dive" addition in the Remix "Another Side, Another Story" ending ).

One view of the difference is that the PlayStation 2 Secret Ending is embedded in the larger set of scenes and dialogue that is presented by the PlayStation 3 Secret Ending.

The Wikipedia discussion of the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 game addresses the two endings and presents a video of each for side by side viewing comparison if you care to take a look.

  2. Short answer? "Deep dive" is an extended version of "Another side, another story".

So basically what you're trying saying guys is that I can unlock both of the secret endings: the normal and the extended version on KH Final Mix game alone?

And since you said that the Deep Dive is the extended version, does it also means that its better for me unlock Deep Dive instead of the first one since its an extended version of the first one?

And just to confirm, the first ASAS Secret Ending has the same 1/2 minute footage as the Deep Dive right? Since deep dive is the extended version? Which means that they have the same footage half the video?

  4. Yes, but only one of the two on any given play through.

Yes if "better" means the most complete topical coverage is of interest. No if, say, a comparative examination of "what was first presented" is of interest.

Effectively, yes. The only way to be certain would be to examine and compare the two endings, scene by scene.

  5. @Azorro007

How do you unlock both the Secret Endings then? What are the different requirements to do such? Thanks!

  6. Play KH twice. Unlock the "special secret" one time, and then on the next playthrough unlock "deep dive"; or vice versa, see the longer version before the original. They CAN'T both be unlocked in a single playthrough; you must choose.

I already listed the different requirements for each, on both Final Mix and Proud difficulties. Neither extra movie can be unlocked on Beginner.
