To navigate much easier through this guide, I added the search system, which
works just by following these simple steps:

- Highlight the "Section Code" of the section which you wish to go and copy it
  (CTRL+C).

- Press CTRL+F to bring up the search sub-menu.

- Paste (CTRL+V) the "Section Code" and press ENTER twice to be where you
wanted to be. Just like magic!

My Section Codes were made as precise as possible, and I also prefer this
method instead of having you scroll 30 min through this huge guide looking for
the section you want to go.

How's it going guys? It's been a couple days since we finished the guide for
Dead Nation and decided to do a guide for this one as well. Brothers Masa &
Mune come again to write for Dead Nation's Road of Devastation. We'll cover
100% of the DLC, so enjoy the walkthrough. ^_^

 ¯¯\¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Hey guys, BK and Vin teaming up again for Dead Nation's DLC. Road of
Devastation doesn't have any story to it (which is a bummer), but is
still a blast, especially if you can play through it with a friend. Enjoy!

This is a little experiment of mine and I just wanna see how it goes. Well, if
you found this guide to be at least somewhat useful, think about donating some
money. I mean, I'm a student who pays his own school, and it's gastronomy and
it consumes all the money I get at home. I'm not asking for 10-20 bucks.
Whatever your heart wants to give is fine, be it 1 buck, 50 cents.

Whatever the amount you can donate, I'd truly, TRULY appreciate it and your
help would be greatly appreciated. Well, you can only donate through PayPal at
the moment, which the account is: vinheim@gmail.com
                                  -----------------

Instead of buying the official guides which cost around 20 dls., better donate
half or a quarter or whatever amount to yours truly.

To those who support me, thanks. - Alexander Paul Kleinheider

1. Quick-reload. This trick allows you to reload your equipped weapon in less
than a second. That's right. Whenever you're reloading your weapon, when
the reload bar is on top of the character, quickly tap left and right (or
right and left). This cuts the reload and equips the next (previous)
weapon and re-equips the weapon you're currently using.

Since the reload was in progress and you cut it short, the weapon will be
fully reloaded when you re-equip it. This helps you out immensely when
there are huge hordes of zombies (special zombies) coming at you and you
run out of bullets. Try mastering this trick in the lower difficulties so
Grim and Morbid don't seem that hard.

2. This tip is of more use in the Grim and Morbid difficulties. In the stages
after the special zombies are introduced to you, mostly Bombie, Jumper and
Cutter, these zombies are quite strong and can kill you in 1 hit (Cutter)
or 2 hits (Jumper). A good tip is to use these strong zombies to fight for
you against the rest of the zombies.

Maybe they aren't controlled, but since these zombies go berserk when they
see you, you can use the attacks used against you to take care of the rest
of the zombies. This is better used with Jumper and Bombie. I don't
recommend using Cutter that much since it's so easy to die against him.
Jumpers can kill zombies in one jump, so take advantage of that ;).

3. Using Flares and Cars together. You'll see cars laying around in every
chapter. Some of these have alarms, which, when shot, activate and attract
all the nearby zombies, exploding in the process. This is nice, but there's
not always a car with alarms. So what to do? Shoot a car when zombies are
getting closer and toss a Flare to this car. Continue shooting the car
until it explodes. You use a Flare doing so, but it's nice to see all the
   zombies explode.

4. During each checkpoint, open the gate to the next area but before going
out, if you have an extra couple thousand dollars, throw some mines outside
the checkpoint without leaving it. Once you do, buy the mines you just used
and leave the checkpoint. This gives you the upper hand against zombies and
you will still have your mines full.

5. You have many weapons and items to use throughout the game, but I'll list
a recommended order in which you should buy/upgrade your weapons.

 o Rifle (fully upgrade ASAP)
 o Shotgun
 o Blade Cannon
 o Launcher
 o Shocker
 o SMG/Flamethrower

Try upgrading the Shotgun as fast as you can, but since there are just too
many upgrades, try upgrading the Blade Cannon, Launcher and Shocker first.
Once you have these 3 fully upgraded (without the laser sight since its a
waste of money), fully upgrade the Shotgun and then, if you have any money
left at the end of the game, buy/upgrade the SMG and Flamethrower.

In the Grim and Morbid difficulties, the use of items is of outmost
importance, since having an extra Flare can save your life, make sure to
buy them when available and try to upgrade them to the fullest. The only
item I think its rather useless and never use is the Molotov, but hey, if
it works for you, use it and upgrade it :).

6. Road of Devastation has a lot of giant PLANTS in some of the paths you can
choose. It's important to note that you can shoot and melee them to destroy
them, since destroying plants often leads to loot. Also, Road of Devastation
also has quite a bit of loot in metal containers. If something you see has
a symbol of some sort on it, chances are you can open it.

  DLC OVERVIEW:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The game focuses only on survival. You start with your Rifle, SMG and a
couple of Flares. You start with 50,000 cash, and a place to upgrade. There
are 3 paths to choose from, and each of these paths have 2 more paths, so
there are 6 paths total. The paths are as follow:

                                      Health
                                      Money

                      Guns ^ Armor
                  Supplies     <-.      |      .->     Score
                                  `-. | .-´
                                     `-.|.-´
                                        |
                                  Starting Point

Another thing to take note of is that you can't go through the same path
twice in a row. For example, in your first round you go through the middle
path and take the Money path, in the second round you won't be able to
take either path (the Health or the Money paths), so make sure you plan
ahead of time.

In the Guns and Supplies paths, when you reach the place to upgrade, you
can unlock 1 Gun or 1 Supply. Whichever you want. That's nice :). On the
other hand, when you go through the Armor path, you get to choose 1 tier of
armor. For example, you start with the #1 tier set of armor. When you get
here, you unlock the #2 tier set of armor and can re-equip your armor,
whether its the ArmoShell, the ExoGear or the ProtoSuit. That's also very
nice :). Score, Health and Money are self-explanatory. I will note that the
Money path gives you a TON of money while the Health path can give you a new
supply item, the health pack, that can completely heal you when used.

In the main guide and game there was loot, which were car trunks, chests
and crates. In here we have Egogate Emblems. There're only 9 of them, and
we'll list them all, so you can get that trophy. We will point out cars,
loot chests and items along the way down each path, but the Egogate Emblems
are the major collectibles in this DLC.

One last important note: this DLC adds on two MODES: Arcade and Endless:

Arcade Mode: In this mode you must survive 6 rounds through the Road of
Devastation. Once you are done with the sixth round, you are
graded and the game is over.

Game progress is saved at checkpoints and you have unlimited
              continues.

Endless Mode: Just like the name implies, you keep going until you die.
You only get one life, and the waves get harder and harder.
There is also no checkpoints and the game doesn't save your
progress. We all have to die one day...

This guide focuses on each of the pathways available, pointing out the
various chests, loot and Egogate Emblems. So without further adieu, we can
only tell you... Happy hunting!

   KILLS PER MINUTE:
  ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Road of Devastation has one other important quirk to it: Kills Per Minute.
As you play through your route, you will be scored on how many kills per
minute you are making. This obviously goes up as you kill zombies, and goes
down (slowly) as you don't. This counter is primarily important for two
reasons: Your final score and route rewards.

Rewards? Yep! At the end of each route, you will get the following chests
if your KPM score is high enough. Note that there are four chests each with
a KPM "Lock" on them. So, for example, if you scored 45 kills per minute,
you would unlock three of the four chests below. Here are the chests:

   20 KPM: 10,000 Gold 80 KPM: 20,000 Gold + 100x Multiplier

10 KPM: Small Health Pack 40 KPM: 50x Multiplier

   RECOMMENDED ROUTE:
  ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
In ARCADE mode, you only have 6 passes through the road, so it is fairly
important to take a good route. In ENDLESS mode, it is also important, but
you have endless choices.

First of all, we both recommend you play through the game and discover all
of the Egogate Emblems. They are on every path, so just playing and discovering
them all and getting that out of the way let's you be able to focus on picking
the best paths for you instead of worrying about finding emblems.

While our recommendations are in no way NECESSARY, especially for the
seasoned Dead Nation veteran, they still may be able to help someone out.
Here is a suggested PATH order for Arcade Mode:

 1. Money
 2. Weapon
 3. Armor
 4. Supplies
 5. Money
 6. Armor

This order let's you get money to max out your rifle right from the get go,
and then follows it up with the ability to buy a shotgun (and use money to
improve it). This is followed up by the ability to get the tier 2 set of
armor (speed), then you can go pick up some more supplies (auto turret).
Next we go get more funds to max that shotgun and ensure we can buy whatever
we want for the rest of arcade mode, then finally we go get more armor. The
last armor choice is really unnecessary, and can be replaced easily. Depending
on your preference, you may also wish to get a weapon or armor first, but as
long as you get the Shotgun and Money early you should in all reality be OK.

  Guns & Supplies Main Route:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

This is a good route. We could always use more guns and supply options.

After entering nab the CAR below you for some supplies. This car also has an
alarm, so use it if you wish. To the north is a SUPPLY CHEST you can grab. The
sewer grate here can spew out zombies, so be ready.

Head left and drop down. To the north behind the armored van is another SUPPLY
CHEST, and further in is another CAR with an alarm. The bus above the car will
spit out zombies, so take them out. Grab the car nearby. To the south is an
area with quite a few zombies and cars. Theres THREE CARS down there you can
loot, along with a SUPPLY CHEST, so be sure to get them.

To the left the road is gated off with two locked fences. Here, be sure to
use the electrical box to electrocute the zombies (an easy combo, but if you
have a powerful weapon and are in a later round it is smarter to kill them
manually and not wait on the electricity). Past the fence is some road with
some more sewer holes. If you REALLY want, you can head north here and destroy
some bushes near the building so you can head right (following the building)
to find a SUPPLY CHEST, but that is really out of the way. Drop down and pass
the first checkpoint to continue.

Here we need to pick our first sub-route, but BEFORE doing that be sure
to head SOUTH and find [_EGOGATE EMBLEM #1_] in a metal container. Watch
out for zombies and any runners that may be hiding.

  Guns Route:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Time to go after some guns!

Head forward and check the police car for supplies. You can also follow the
path to the south (past the plants) to find a SUPPLY CRATE. Clear the area of
zombies and interact with the weapon shop kiosk to choose a new weapon! This
unlocks it permanently for your current game. You of course have to upgrade
it yourself (money path here we come!).

To the north you can find a total of FIVE cars. Some are police cars with
supplies. In the northeast corner is another SUPPLY CRATE as well. Be careful
in this area as zombies often start out lying down until you get close to
them. Time to find another Egogate Emblem! From the gun shop, follow the
right wall as it heads northwest until you see a bus near several crashed
police cars. You can slip between them to find a small cubby that houses
[_EGOGATE EMBLEM #2_]. Beware of runners and zombies again. Head back to the
street and up the ramp to the left.

Here grab the car and watch for zombies from the sewer. Up ahead is another
gated area with more electricity panels. Rush over to them and use the panel
to shock the zombies in the fenced area (an easy combo). To the north is a
police CAR and SUPPLY CRATE, but watch out for runners jumping at you.

Head through the gate (use the second electricity panel if you wish) and
on the other side watch out for a bombie coming at you from below. To the
left it is common to see military zombies. Head north now to see a gate open
up for you. Before going through, check behind the missile truck for one
last SUPPLY CRATE behind a bush, then go through.

  Guns & Supplies Arena:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

The Guns & Supplies arena is a good one. Here you have to watch out for
police and military zombies, as well as whatever big monstrosities you will
have to face depending on what round you are on. Most of the zombies come
from the sewers scattered throughout the area or from the hole in the
northeastern wall.

This arena is easily defended though. For starters, you have THREE CARS
that each have supplies in them, so you can count on that. Also, there are
two ELECTRICITY PANELS you can put to great use. One at the bottom of the
arena and one in the northeast. Note that these panels are connected to
BIG bodies of water, so it is smart to lure a mass number of zombies into
the water before quickly running to the panel and turning it on. Use this
lure tactic to help survive. In later waves this is especially important as
you can chain the panel together with luring devices to survive.

After the fight the gate will open and you will be free to pick up your
kills per minute rewards and end the round.

  Supplies Route:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Time to go after some supplies!

Drop down and clear the area. This is a small alleyway you are in, so on
the higher rounds don't be afraid to throw a luring device, and watch out
for runners from the left. Once you have cleared the area you can go up
to the supply kiosk to the north and unlock a new supply option! They even
give you the chance to upgrade your supplies right then and there.

Head north now and you'll pass two vans. Once you get past them, watch out
for a rush of weak zombies from behind (they love to do that). Grab the CAR
to the left and further north you'll find TWO breakable gates.

The gate on the left you can shoot through, while the gate on the right you
can't. If you can, lure the zombies to the left gate so you can kill them
from safety. Of course, on higher rounds you'll just want to plow through
them to keep your KPM up. Also note that there is a SUPPLY CRATE in the
upper right hand area, just past a fence.

For the sake of direction, go open up the lower (left) break-able gate.
Clear the area and watch out for zombies being spawned behind you. Now,
follow the path south and destroy the plants in your way to get behind the
building. Back here watch out for zombies and a bombie (He's eating from the
dumpster back here! Ha!). Kill them off and check the corner for [_EGOGATE
EMBLEM #3_]. Nice.

Head back to the main road now. Watch out for zombies coming out of the
northern shops. There is a HEALTH MACHINE up here as well. One of the shops
spells out "Eat Brains" due to burnt out neon letters. Heh. Continue to the
left and watch out for bombies. Grab the CAR, then follow the southern wall
to the left. As it goes down you'll find another SUPPLY CRATE. All that's
left now is the arena.

  Guns & Supplies Arena:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

The Guns & Supplies arena is a good one. Here you have to watch out for
police and military zombies, as well as whatever big monstrosities you will

you can chain the panel together with luring devices to survive.

If you are coming from the supply route (we assume you are), you will start
off in the water to the right. It is easy for zombies to swarm you here, so
is is a good idea to throw out a lure device and make your way for the
electric panel when you can, then use the car with the alarm on it. Try to
save your rush if you can, and stay out of the water once you flip the
electric switch!

After the fight the gate will open and you will be free to pick up your
kills per minute rewards and end the round.

  Money & Health Main Route:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Money is probably the most important route in the DLC, to be honest. You
NEED it to upgrade things and stand a chance at surviving.

This route is filled with plants and weak plant zombies. Plant zombies are
much like the skeleton enemies you are used to: they die in one hit and show
up in swarms. They can appear out of the grass though, and rush at you.
Thankfully, it takes them a bit to struggle through the grass, so as long as
you are paying attention you can kill them off. You can even kill them off as
they struggle in the grass without destroying the grass!

Head into the path and grab the nearby CAR. You will likely be greeted by
zombies and a rush of plant zombies. To the right of the car is a MONEY CHEST
you should be sure to grab. Now, stick to the left-hand wall and destroy the
bushes near the brick fence. Between the (turned off) lamp posts you can head
further left into a parking lot. In the top left corner you will be able to
nab [_EGOGATE EMBLEM #4_]. Watch out for zombies pouring out of the nearby
hole in the wall!

Head back out and grab another LOOT CHEST on the right hand wall. Cross the
checkpoint and then you'll have to decide which route you have to take (we
are doing the money route in this round, of course).

  Money Route:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Drop down and make your way to the CAR to the right. There are a TON of
bushes in this area, so be ready for plant zombies at any time. To the
right of the car is a MONEY CHEST. Head north from there to the next CAR and
to the right of that one is yet another MONEY CHEST (there are a lot of them
in this area).

Head to the left now and check near the lamp post for another MONEY CHEST.
If you are doing later round, you will likely run into a lot of jumpers in
this area, so be sure to clear some plants out as you go. Head further left
to find a police CAR (supplies) and then north of that to find TWO MONEY
CHESTS. Continue north to find another MONEY CHEST, but after grabbing that
one be sure to destroy all the hedges and plants to the LEFT of it to uncover
[_EGOGATE EMBLEM #5_]. Nice!

Head to the right now (we have to) and to the far right you'll find another
CAR. Below it near a "newspaper" stand is a HEALTH MACHINE if you need it.
Grab it and head north. Fight your way to a MONEY CHEST on the left side of
the road, then head to the blue pillar in the area. To the right is a giant
neon "BAR" sign. Destroy the bushes under it to find a hidden MONEY CHEST.

That's all we have on this route, so head north and into the gate to get
to the arena.

  Money & Health Arena:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

The money and health arena is very basic. No traps or panels to trip. There
is a lot of plants here that will make cover for plant zombies and take up
space but that's about it.

Be sure to loot the THREE CARS here (one has supplies) and make use of the
fact that two of them have alarms on them. These come in very handy in later
rounds.

The other notable thing about this arena is the fact that there is an
armored van to the north with a MONEY CHEST in the back of it. This chest
in particular has a TON of money in it. There is also a second MONEY CHEST
to the north of the van. You can grab both of these after the fighting
though.

Zombies will of course come from the plants and sewers. Be sure to use the
cars and throw-able items here, since your running around space is limited.
Once you've killed them all the exit will open. Be sure to check the southern
wall once you enter the exit gate to find one last MONEY CHEST. After that,
feel free to end the round after collecting your kills per minute rewards.

  Money & Health Main Route:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Cross the
checkpoint and then you'll have to decide which route you have to take (we
are doing the Health route in this round, of course).

  Health Route:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Nab the Health Pack from the ambulance and proceed north. You'll find a
MONEY CHEST inside the medical shack on the right. There will be a couple
zombies dropping from the windows on the left side, so be careful with that.
Loot the CAR on the right as well as the VENDING MACHINE on the left side.
As you cross the small barricade after the Vending Machine, loot the CAR on
the right and you'll see a large green health cross painted on the ground to
the left.

Follow this path and you'll find a switch. Once you press it, many grass
zombies will come at you, but since they are so weak, they go down in one
hit. Once inside, nab the Health Pack and grab the Medikit from the chest.

(-NOTE-) This item is new and lets you fully heal up. You can carry only one at
a time, so if you use it, you'll have to come get another one.

Return to the forking path and start going north. A couple of RUNNERS come
at you from behind, so be careful. Use the VENDING MACHINE from the left and
loot both CARS on the right. From these cars, go north across the train to
find a MONEY CHEST and [_EGOGATE EMBLEM #6_]. Nice. Return and go right, nab
the Health Pack and loot the CAR. Now cross the checkpoint to get to the arena.

  Armor & Score Main Route:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

As you enter the path, quickly dispose of the 2 soldier zombies that roam the
entrance and open up the MULTIPLIER CHEST (there are obviously more zombies
depending on what wave you are on). These raise your Multiplier by 20, which is
good. Stick to the upper walls and you'll get to some plants. Destroy these to
create a path that leads you to [_EGOGATE EMBLEM #7_]. Return, kill all the
zombies that roam here (there MIGHT be a RUNNER or two) and go right to the
corner to find another MULTIPLIER CHEST.

Go south from this chest to find 3 CARS for you to loot, but be careful
because many zombies pop out of the buildings on the left and many firefighter
zombies appear from the right. The good thing here is that normally 2 of the
3 cars have alarms, so loot them quickly and use them as decoy :). Cross the
checkpoint and pick up your path.

  Armor Route:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
As you cross, many zombies will pour out of the hole on the upper left, so
take care of 'em. There will also be many firefighter zombies on the upper
right hand, so kill them all and the Armor Kiosk opens up for you and allows
you to choose from the next tier of armor. Go ahead and make your pick.

Go right and you'll see the buildings spewing fire. As you cross the first
one, many firefighter zombies appear from the left, as well as normal zombies
from the hole on the left and weak zombies from behind you. Use Flares/Grenades
(if you have them) to get rid of them. Also grab the MULTIPLIER CHEST from the
right behind the plants.

Continue going north and when you get to the building, more zombies pop out
of the hole to the north. Not too much trouble. As you cross the last fire
trap, many weak zombies appear from the north. Take out your SMG and take care
of that. There's also a VENDING MACHINE on the left. Go north a little bit and
you'll see the path forks.

Go left from here to have many zombies attack you, but at the end you'll find
[__EGOGATE EMBLEM #8]. Just one more to go :). Return to the fork and go north.
There's a giant saw on the left, and there's a switch. As you approach the
checkpoint, a ton of zombies crawl over the trailers to attack you. Toss a Flare
or 2 at the saw and activate the switch to start mowing them all down. Once it
stops, just kill the remaining zombies, cross the checkpoint and into the
arena.

  Armor & Score Arena:
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

This is the most interesting arena of all 3 of them, in my opinion (vin).
There are 2 saws in the center of the arena, and each have a switch. The
conveyor belts move very fast, which decimates a lot of zombies fast, but
the problem is that it doesn't last long. So the best way to do this is to
toss a Flare at one of the conveyor belts and when the zombies are closing
in, activate the switch to kill them all.

There are 2 so you can take care of most of the zombies. As you go north,
many soldier zombies pop out of the trailer on the right while RUNNERS appear
from the right and left. There's also a JUMPER or 2, so be careful. This arena
isn't that tough, or at least it doesn't feel hard thanks to the saws. Either
way, the exit opens, so proceed north and feel free to end the round after
collecting your kills per minute rewards.

As you enter, go north and destroy the plants in the corner to reveal a
MULTIPLIER CHEST. A little bit to the right is a CAR to loot, which has an
alarm. Use this if needed and from this car, go south destroying the plants
to reveal a small passage that has many soldier zombies and a RUNNER or two,
but down here you can find [_EGOGATE EMBLEM #9_]. That's all of 'em. You
finally got your trophy :).

Return to where the car is and nab the MULTIPLIER CHEST on the right. As you
go north, you'll see a different form of a MOUTH. Man oh man. This one got so
much harder and looks even creepier. It takes around 4 powershots to take it
down in normal. Wow. From where the MOUTH appeared, go south to find a
MULTIPLIER CHEST from next to the river. From here you can either go north
or right across the river. Go right first.

As you cross the bridge, you'll find several soldier zombies, some biker
zombies as well as another MOUTH. Man oh man. Use the Flares as you need to
and locate the MULTIPLIER CHEST from the southern part of the area. As you go
north, you'll find some more zombies, normal, soldier and biker zombies. When
you approach the northern side, you'll another MOUTH on the other side of the
arch.

Kill it before it sees you and grab the MULTIPLIER CHEST from here. Go left
across the bridge and go south sticking to the river to find another MOUTH
and a MULTIPLIER CHEST. Return and you'll see a large saw to the north and
several soldier zombies that raise when you get near. These are saws like
those in the Docks level in the main campaign. Toss a Flare and activate the
saw to take care of them.

Now go left, grab the MULTIPLIER CHEST, cross the checkpoint into the arena.
