How do I save game progress while playing coop missions?

I often play coop with my girlfriend & notice you can't save your progress. We spent a few hours playing & went through a few checkpoints before deciding to take a break. Problem is I can't save my mission (online or offline) and its frustrating having to start all over again. Any suggestions?

I don't think you can even save you're progress ... You just choose the chapter where you stopped and continue from the chapter.
Please Note: I only played Offline Co-Op sofar
