Do I need to play the first game to understand this one?

  1. In the strictest sense you do not need to play VP:Lenneth to know the story. It is not a true prequel, but a whole other story. The end of this over writes the events in VP1, so its another world.

    Btw, you can search google for emulation.
    There is more than one way of playing Vp1.

    You will get the same experience playing Vp2 tho, no big loss, it just helps to know some things sometimes.

  2. you don't NEED to
    the VP2 experience from someone who's played VP (original or PSP) and someone who hasn't is really only slightly different

    there's a few reappearing characters and you can probably count the plot references with one hand, and they're fairly minor references

    probably biggest reason to play VP before VP2 is to see how such a unique concept has evolved over the years

  3. The word "prequel" has never been so tricky in a rpg like in VP2, if you want to follow and understand the story at its fullest then by all means I'd recommend you to play VP1 first.
