  1. No, you can't play Rogue Galaxy without the player 1 controller port working. The best choice is to either fix or replace the damaged parts, otherwise replace the PS2. If you feel confident in fixing it yourself, there are many tutorial videos that show how to fix such problems. If you don't feel up to it, take your PS2 to a computer shop that also fixes consoles.
