1. Introduction

This is a collection of data from Koei's new action game
Sengoku Musou and its expansion, Moushouden.

Some data is simply statistics and information, found
in the "Vault" section of the game itself. Other data
is strategy for obtaining the Ultimate and Final
weapons (5th and 6th) or Precious Items (one-of-a-kind).

This FAQ is bi-lingual to a degree. Names are in both
English and Japanese. Your browser must support JIS
characters in order to correctly display this FAQ.

WARNING: 

Ultimate (5th) Weapons are acquired on Hard difficulty,
unless the bonus to lower the difficulty is purchased (20,000 BP)

Final (6th) Weapons are acquired on Hell difficulty,
unless the bonus to lower the difficulty is purchased (100,000 BP)

Both Ultimate and Final Weapons REQUIRE that at least one
ending to Musou mode is completed.

Final Weapons REQUIRE that you play on Musou mode (can NOT be acquired
in Free mode under any circumstances)

Lucky character attribute DOES NOT (read: DOES NOT) apply to
the North American release of Sengoku Musou. IT ONLY affects
the stats on REGULAR items and weapons.

Precious Items can be achieved with any character on either
Free mode or Story mode on any difficulty, but must be
on the exact level specified.

Acquisition:

Stage: Summer Campaign for Osaka - 大坂夏の陣

1. Clear the first mission: Luring Maeda
Toshitsune and Matsudaira Tadanao to the Sanada-Maru.
2. Clear the second mission: Destroy the Tokugawa cannons.
3. Clear the third mission: Return to the main camp.
4. Clear the fourth mission: Prevent Data Masamune from
entering the castle.
5. Clear the fifth mission: Storm the Tokugawa camp
6. After clearing the fifth mission, achieve a KO count
of 1000.
7. Supply unit appears at the southwestern entry point and
heads northeast toward the right-middle entry point.

Tip: The easiest way (I've found) to acquire the weapon is
to complete the stage normally until Hideyori retreats
into Osaka Castle and Ohno Harunaga takes over, then
use the westernmost entry point to acquire kills (it's
the most active entry point). 

Note: Once you enter the northern Tokugawa
fortress, you will be sealed in and will be forced to kill
around 100 enemy troops. Try to time the KO count to hit 1000 as
you escape the fortress.

Rakan - 煉鎗赫羅漢

Note: Rakan is a term used to describe
the highest position for a practitioner
of Therevada Buddhism to achieve. It is a
variant of the original Indian word "Arhat".

Stage: Battle of Yamasaki - 山崎の戦い

1. Clear the first mission: Defeat Shibata Katsuie
and Niwa Nagahide.
2. Clear the second mission: Prevent Maeda Keiji from
entering Tennouzan.
3. Defeat Takenaka Hanbei (Hideyoshi sub-general) and
Takikawa Kazumasu.
4. Clear the third mission: Prevent Hashiba Hideyoshi
from entering the main camp.
5. Supply unit appears in northwestern entry point
and heads due south.

WARNING: If a single general or sub-general is routed
while the third mission is active, the mission is failed
and the weapon *cannot* be acquired.

the gods. Its literal translation is "music
of the gods".

Note: Izanagi is from the Shintoist creation myth.
According to legend, Izanagi dipped his pike into
the sea and the water on the tip dropped back
into the sea and formed the Japanese
archipelago.

Stage: Test at Kawanakajima - 川中島腕試し

1. Defeat all sub-generals and their respective generals.
2. Supply unit appears from southeastern entry point, heads
north to northeastern entry point.

Note: All kills must be by Keiji. Kills by your allied
generals will lose the weapon for you. Additionally, this
cannot be done with a second player.




( 2-b6 ) Final Weapon

Ni-Oh Pike - 剛鋒仁王尊

Named after the god Ni-Oh.

Note: Ni-Oh (Niou) is/are the name of the pairs of guardian
statues typically found at the gates to Buddhist shrines and
temples. This may be symbolic of Keiji for his exploits
as the rear-guard of the Uesugi army after they failed
to invade Aizu.

Stage: Dance in the Capital - 京洛の舞

1. Achieve a KO count of 2000.
2. Supply unit appears at the west-central entry point
and heads for the northwestern entry point.

Tip: Stay near the entrance to Honnouji (the inner compound)
and the troops will flood to you. For the sake of easiness, do
not complete the mission to seal entry points.

c. Oda Nobunaga - 織田信長

Kumo-giri - 蜘蛛切

Raikoh of the legendary Genji
Clan.

Note: Kumo is "spider" in Japanese.




( 2-c2 ) 2nd Weapon

Oni-giri - 鬼切

Said to be the sword used by
the ancient hero Tsuna
Watanabe.

Note: "Oni" are Japanese devils characterized
usually by loincloth and massive clubs.

by the great smith Kunishige

Muramasa - 妙法千五村正

A dark masterpiece crafted
by the legendary smith
Muramasa.

Note: The Muramasa comes from a Japanese
legend about a pair of sword smiths, Muramasa
and Masamune. Muramasa's blade, when he placed it
into a stream, cut passing leaves in two instantly.
Masamune's sword repelled the leaves, for it posessed
spiritual discernment.

Orochi - 蛇之麁正

The blade that was used to
slay Orochi, the great serpent.

Note: Orochi was a massive eight-headed serpent
that ravaged Japan in mythology. Supposedly,
Susano-wa found a blade within one of the serpent's
tails and killed the serpent. Unfortunately, the sword
was not called "Orochi", but Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi (the
grass-cutting sword).

Acquisition:

Stage: Battle of Okehazama - 桶狭間の戦い

1. Clear the first mission: Attack the Imagawa Outposts
2. Fail the second mission: Clear the enemies at Zenshouji
3. Defeat Imagawa generals until only two remain.
4. Upon moving toward the western half of the stage,
Hattori Hanzou will appear and head for the Imagawa
camp.
5. Beat Hanzou to the Imagawa camp.
6. Supply unit appears in the southwest.




( 2-c6 ) Final Weapon

Dai-Rokuten - 神滅第六天

This sword is said to have the
strength to destroy even
gods.

Note: Dairoku-ten is the most powerful
of Buddhist devils. Resides in the highest
realm of desire.

Stage: Rebellion at Honnouji - 本能寺の変

1. Meet up with Oichi
2. Defeat Nouhime
3. Meet up with Mori Ranmaru
4. Defeat all Akechi generals and sub-generals
5. Supply unit appears in the southeast.

WARNING: Stepping outside of the temple grounds
prior to defeating Nouhime will cause the weapon to
be lost.

Note: Oichi and Mori Ranmaru must both be alive when
you defeat the final Akechi generals.

Note: Jinmu was the original

Stage: Battle of Yamasaki (Upper) - 山崎の戦い

1. Clear the mission: Secure Tennouzan by
defeating the Defense Captains at the summit
2. Clear the mission: Rescue Matsuda Masachika
by defeating the two generals who march on him.
3. Clear the mission: Defeat the enemy at the
summit and occupy Tennouzan.
4. Supply unit appears at the western entry point
and heads for the northeastern entry point.

Note: Steps 1-3 must be within 5 minutes
of the stage start. Maeda Keiji begins his
charge and Niwa Nagahide appears, these are
the events that signal that you've taken too long.




( 2-d6 ) Final Weapon

Rasetsu - 羅刹刃金狼

Sacred sword said to be
made from the legendary
fangs of the mythical Golden
Wolf.

Note: The Rasetsu are demons in
Buddhism. They feast upon the deceased
flesh of the wicked. They can be turned into
guardian deities by the power of Buddha.

Acquisition:

Stage: Battle of Yamasaki (Lower) - 山崎の戦い

1. Clear the mission: Defeat the enemies at
the east gate.
2. Clear the mission: Defeat the enemies at
the west gate.
3. Defeat enemy generals: Shibata Katsuie,
Niwa Nagahide, Maeda Toshiie, Sakuma Nobumori,
and Oda Nobutada.
4. Approximately four minutes after the east
gate is defended, Hashiba Hideyoshi appears
and marchs on the east gate.
5. Clear the mission: Defeat Hashiba Hideyoshi
and defend the east gate.
6. Go within sight range of Mori Ranmaru to initiate
a conversation between Mitsuhide and Ranmaru.
7. Clear the mission: Do not attack Mori Ranmaru,
endure his assault! To do this, stand close
to Ranmaru without attacking him for about
a minute.
8. Ranmaru defects.
9. 20 minutes into the stage, the fog clears and
the Akechi army prepares to advance on Nobunaga from
the south.
10. Clear the mission: Defeat all enemy ambushes in the
northern cave.
11. Supply unit appears in the southeast and heads
for the Oda camp.

Note: This (apparently) cannot be done with two
players. If it can, the second player must have very little
involvement in the success of the missions.

Note: For the final mission, move clockwise around
the northern caves, eliminating the five sets of
ambush parties. The ambush party marked by the "X" should
be defeated *last*. To defeat an ambush party, defeat all
the Spy Leaders and the specialist ninja units (ie. Strike,
Sky, Wind).

Note: This weapon is extremely tempermental, and I have devised
this strategy after four successful runs attempting to acquire it.

3. Find all the items and weapons on the third floor.
4. On the fourth floor, defeat the three generals
other than Akechi Mitsuhide.
5. After a short time elapses, Mori Nagayoshi will
appear.
6. Defeat Mori Nagayoshi.
7. Mori Nagayoshi drops the precious item.

Note: This can be done with a second player,
but Goemon must be the one that gets all the items
and weapons on the first three floors.

from entering the main camp.
5. Supply unit appears in the southwest and heads north.

Note: All allied generals must survive until the supply unit message.

Note1: Kiku is the Japanese word
for the chrysanthemum, the Japanese
national flower, and the source of the
design of their "rising sun" flag. The
sixteen petal kiku is the symbol of Japan.

Note2: Benzai-ten is the Buddhist
goddess of the arts.

Acquisition:

Stage: Rebellion at Honnouji (Upper) - 本能寺の変

1. Thwart the Akechi fire attack by defeating
Akechi Hidemitsu.
2. Enter through the south gate of Honnouji to
open the gates.
3. Before meeting with Nobunaga, move into one of the
side chambers to the east or west of Ranmaru to trigger
the "Rescue Mori Ranmaru" mission.
4. Clear the mission: Rescue Mori Ranmaru
5. Clear the mission: Rescue Oda Nobunaga
6. Wait for Nouhime to be in danger and
say something to the effect of "I cannot
die, before I see him again..."
7. Clear the mission: Rescue Nouhime
8. Seal all active entry points and defeat
all generals except Akechi Mitsuhide.
9. Assist Oda Nobunaga, Mori Ranmaru, and
Nouhime in reaching the southeastern entry point.
10. Supply unit appears in the northwest
and moves to the northeast.

Note: Upon being rescued, Mori Ranmaru tends to make
a beeline to Akechi Mitsuhide. Do not worry, he should
hold out for a while. Once the Azai reinforcements appear, he
should be in no real danger. Once Nobunaga nears the escape point,
Ranmaru should head there himself.

Note: The south-central entry point cannot be sealed, therefore,
you should stand in front of it and halt the incoming troops
to help Nobunaga and Co.

h. Okuni - 阿国

Ban-Gasa - 番傘

A standard Eastern style
umbrella.

Mai-Gasa - 舞傘

Note: Meeting either of the generals loses you
the weapon, so use caution near their camps.

Tip: My suggested order for killing the officers:

- Defeat Takeda Yoshinobu and proceed to the southeast.
- Defeat Honjyou Shigenaga on the way.
- Arrive near the center of Hachimanbara and defeat
Murakami Yoshikyo and Takeda Nobushige (the latter dies
EXTREMELY fast, so take care of him quickly)
- Defeat the remaining generals near the center:
Yamamoto Kansuke, Hara Masatane, Kakizaki Kageie, and
Amakasu Kagetsugu.
- Move clockwise around the battlefield, following
in the tracks of the Takeda secondary force.
- Defeat Saito Tomonobu on the way.
- Defeat Kunoichi and then Sanada Yukimura.
- Return to Hachimanbara up and around to
the west, defeating Onikojima Yatarou on the way.
- Once in Hachimanbara, defeat the remaining generals
at your leisure.

This is not as easy as it looks. The Toyotomi generals are
a bunch of wet blankets. My suggestion is to use a second player,
and equip them with a second Morale Drum. Additionally, if your
Kunoichi isn't tough enough to do this level alone, the second player
can do the 1st and 2nd missions.

Tip: As Muni put it, "A chain is only as strong as its weakest link".
The Crane formation can be a nightmare to maintain, but it is quite
possible. The general idea is to defeat 3 of the 4 Takeda Cavalry
generals. Naitou Masatoyo, Yamagata Masakage, and Baba Nobufusa. However, this
alone will not save the formation. Takeda Katsuyori must also be defeated.
Finally, the most important to defeat is Takeda Shingen's sub-general
Anayama Nobukimi. The "weakest link" would be a Takeda sub-general named
Hirate Hirohide, who could be routed by a sudden breeze. Protecting him will
make things much, much easier. To re-iterate:

Defeat Naitou Masatoyo --> Yamagata Masakage --> Baba Nobufusa,
Defeat Anayama Nobukumi --> Takeda Katsuyori,
Protect Hirate Hirohide

Stage: Battle of Nagashino - 長篠の戦い

1. Clear the mission: Occupy Nagashino Castle.
2. Defeat the Oda musket generals Shibata Katsuie,
Maeda Toshiie, Takigawa Kazumasu, and Niwa Nagahide.
3. At all times, keep Baba Nobufasa alive.
4. Clear the mission: Defeat the enemy ambush party.
5. Maeda Keiji will charge your home base. Contact him
so that the "Eliminate Maeda Keiji" mission appears,
but don't defeat. Ensure that you contact him BEFORE
he leaves Shitaragahara.
6. Hattori Hanzou will head for Nagashino Castle. Allow
him to reach the castle, and then defeat him.
7. Sanada Yukimura will beg Takeda Katsuyori to retreat, and
the Takeda army will retreat to the southeast.
8. Allow Baba Nobufusa to be routed at this point.
9. Keiji will give Baba a small eulogy to the effect
of "Dying in a blaze of glory, I hope I too die that way"
10. Supply unit appears in the southeast and head north
toward Nagashino Castle.

Note: Basically, you're helping Baba Nobufusa fulfill
the part he played in history. Historically, he held
the rear guard and delivered Katsuyori to safety before
dying. Throughout the level, you *must* keep him alive, which
will probably entail distracting Keiji.

trained by the Tengu. From then on, Benkei
served as Yoshitsune's vassal, until they both
perished in Takadachi Castle. Benkei was famous
for guarding the doorway, even when he was pierced by
dozens of arrows. He fought until his succumbed to his
wounds. Ironically, Yoshitsune had commited hara-kiri already...

the main camp.
3. When Yukimura re-appears, a mission will be ordered
to prevent him from entering the main camp.
4. Allow Yukimura to achieve 200 K.O's
	50 K.O's - Yukimura enters super-mode
	100 K.O's - Yukimura becomes even stronger
	150 K.O's - Yukimura becomes weak and sluggish
	200 K.O's - Yukimura enters hyper-mode

5. Allow Okudo Tadayo to be routed by Yukimura
6. Tokugawa will panic, now is the time to defeat Yukimura.
7. Defeat Sanada Yukimura.
8. Tokugawa declares all-out attack.
9. Supply unit appears from the east-central entry point and
heads west.

Note: You must allow at least one Toyotomi general alive, usually
Ohno Harunaga, for Tokugawa to declare the all-out attack.

WARNING: Yukimura's hyper-mode is incredible. His strength is far
beyond that of normal officers, even on Hell mode. Be advised that you
will also fight him in the Castle portion of the stage.
