in navigating throughout the game.

HOW to see the kanjis? You have 2 ways. ONE: Go to this faq's page then right
click and set the language to Japanese SHIFT-Jis. TWO: Download the faq and
then end it like "mydearfaq.SJS"... just REMEMBER to end it ".SJS", and now
open it with Word or some other processor, like NJStar.

/Giving them drinks...
Juice (ジュース): Replenish Strength (tairyoku)
Tea (お茶): Replenish a little strength
Aozu (青酢): Fans of the series KNOW what this is! It halvens
the strength. Give it to your opponents! 

/Have a break!:
Make them listen music they like makes it easier to do
strikes. Basically changes some parameters. Keep in mind
these songs are mostly from Kiss of Prince, so check which
song they ACTUALLY sing. Good songs, aren't they? "Itsumo
sono..." by Oshitari is so cool... *sigh* he's so cool...

Music they specially like have a "+", and the ones they don't like very much
have an "o". The ones they DON'T like a "-". They just "like" the rest :3

/Color pins:
Red: Earplugs. What opponents might say won't affect the player.
Blue: Magic bumpers! Thanks to them, the ball won't go to the gutter.
Yellow: My glove. Acts like the ability.
Green: Hamburger. Throws the pins with strength.
Green strapped: Recovers all energy.

/Bowling abilities:
Top Spin: Being a right-handed, if you change the ball direction to the
 left, it will get stronger.
Slice: Being a right-handed, if you change the ball direction to the
 right, it will get stronger. 
Lucky: Frecuency of color pins will go up.
My glove: The direction gauge's arrow will slower.

/Bowling's basic theory:
I always say that I terribly suck at bowling. SO, I'll try my best
explaining the little I understand about it. 
In the lane you should see some "spots". Aim for the second of them (if
right-handed, aim for the second one from the right and viceversa) and
after pressing the button, bend the direction line to the first pin.
If you do that, you have to put more power to it, so this takes some of
your stamina :/

/Startle your opponent!:
When your opponent is throwing the bowling ball, press R1. This will 
startle him and the power and direction will go anywhere. Time it!

Tension Gauge:
It is right left of the player's face. Where you see a number, that's the
tension level you have. If you hit a special tech, the tension will rise. If
the gauge doesn't rise, there are some techs you won't be able to do.

Special Tech button:
With the sufficient Gauge & Tension, timing correctly when the character is
shining, you can perform a special tech. 

Energy (気力) Gauge:
When enough energy is gathered, special techs can be performed. When you
perform a tech or the opponent performs a lowering tech, the gauge lowers.
Doing it continually, makes it go up faster.

Physical energy (体力 - Tairyoku) Gauge:
Physical is used for returning strong shots, and it lowers when receiving
a "Body Shot". When the physical energy goes down, it restricts various 
movements, so be careful.
>When in red: You can do everything. Full throttle!
>When in orange: Jumping actions cannot be performed.
>When in yellow: You cannot perform Jump or Smash actions.
>When in white: You cannot perform Jump or Smash actions and velocity
and movility are lowered.

First a little explanation of AP. The Ability Points (AP) are divided in three
groups: Red, Yellow and Blue, which you earn by training. The red kanji you see
means "mind", the yellow one "technique" and the blue one "body".

*In point 4 you have to take the player off balance, so the ball hits the

When winning over the opponent, there's a 3% chance of acquiring it

友情 - Yuujou - Friendship
When doing a split, there's a 50% chance of getting it. 100% if two
are performed

マイグローブ - My glove
Without paying attention to the opponent, it is acquired by making
280 points or more

集中力 - Shuuchuuryoku - Concentration Power
It is acquired by making 280 points or more against the partner.
Also, doing a snake eye.

大舞台 - Dai-butai - Grand stage
Doing 4 strikes straight

てかげん - Tekagen - Underestimate
&解析 - Kaiseki - Analysis
Taking ONLY one pine down, 10 times in a row.

is at 200%. Anything less will get you "DOKIDOKI". Let's all sing it!!! =D

That is just not right, you should get that gekkan pro tennis cup!

It can be unlocked by finishing the ikkyuunyuukon with all characters, no
matter the difficulty

There are 2 extra techs:

前衛キラー - Zen'ei Killer - Vanguard killer
Can only be used in tension 2 or more. When returning a ball (except for
lobs) in the front court press R1+X. It's a homing movement which hits
a 2 times stronger volley that aims for the opponent's vanguard. Can
only be used in doubles. The partner technique (yuujou waza) will rise
kyuui (球威).

生まれ変わります - Umarekawarimasu - Reborn
After losing a point, press R1+X. Abilities will rise by 1.

Ability: Jumping shot; Insight; Doutaishiryoku (ability to see 
opponent's movements)

<Description>
The "emperor" who stands on top of Hyoutei's 200 members:
The one who had a battle to death with the one who had an accident,
Tezuka, and stayed in control of the situation, his abilities are
top class. With a heavy shot, while lowering opponent's stamina,
with his special techs takes points from the opponent, which makes
him ideal.

絶望への前奏曲
Zetsubou e no pureryuudo - Prelude to despair: During serve press 
R1+X or R1+O. By pressing X you'll do a twice as fast power serve, 
and by pressing O you'll hit a drop. Technique must be S or more 
to be able to perform this move.

破滅への輪舞曲
Hametsu e no rondo - Rondo to destruction: When the opponent hits 
a ball that can be returned as a smash, press R1+X. This tech will 
destroy the opponent's racket with a smash and then do a second 
one aimed at the fallen racket. Can't be used against a special 
technique. Power must be S or more in order to be learnt/bought.

美技A
Bigi A - Beautiful technique A: Behind the service line and when 
returning a ball that bounces behind it, press R1+X. Can't return 
specials. With this tech you will be able to do a drop (a cord 
ball), and a 3 times heavier/2 times faster jumping smash if the 
opponent returns it. Technique must be S or more in order to use 
this.

美技B
Bigi B - Beautiful technique B: Behind the service line and when 
returning a ball that bounces behind it, press R1+O. Can't return 
specials. With this tech your character will hit a corner shot 
and, if it is returned, a smash that lowers the opponent's grip,
just like the Bigi A. Technique must be S or more in order to use
this.

スイッチブレード
Switchblade - In the front court, press R1+X while returning a 
ball that bounces in front of the service line with the back hand. 
This tech will make the character run to hit with a JackKnife a 
2.5 times heavier ball.

荒廃への協奏曲 
Kouhai e no consheruto - Concerto to ruin: Tension must be 3 or 
more and can only used by playing doubles with Kabaji. After 
hitting the ball in the front court, press R1+O to make Kabaji do 
a continious homing power stroke. If the opponent tries to return
it after the bounce, there's a high chance she/he will drop the
racket.

迎えうってやるぜ!!
I'll reach it!!

Status: Power: G, Footwork: S, Stamina: F, Mental: D, Technique: B
Ability: Acrobatic, Diving Volley, Jumping Shot, Yudan 
(negligence)

<Description>
In footwork, tournament's number one!? Hyoutei's super flying youth:
Hyoutei's number one acrobatic player. Having mostly vanguard type
abilities, special techs are also for the front court only, completing
the bunch. In singles, aims for the serve & volley.

ムーンサルト
Moonsault/salute/salto: In the front court, while returning a lob
(or anything that could be returned with a smash) that lands in the 
back court, press R1+X. The partner technique (yuujou waza) 
prevents almost every ball to be returned. With this tech the 
character will fly/jump towards the ball to return it with a drop. 
When the opponent tries to return it with a lob, that ball will turn
into a drop. Character must know Acrobatic in order to perform this.

シュタルダー
Schtalder: In the front court, press R1+X to return the ball 
hit by the opponent that will bounce in the back court. The 
partner technique (yuujou waza) will rise kyuui (球威). Character 
must learn Acrobatic in order to perform this tech.

=====Oshitari Yuushi:=====
攻めるん遅いわ!
Your attack is too late!

Status: Power: E, Footwork: B, Stamina: C, Mental: C, Technique: S
Ability: Top Spin Lob

<Description>
The second man who is called "tensai":
Among Hyoutei he is the only called "tensai", his Technique is
extremely high. Barely having any weak points at all, against
opponent's shots immediately connects powerful techs in order to
score points.

雲雀返し
Hibari Gaeshi - Skylark Return: In the back court when returning a 
ball that is neither a smash nor a top spin, press R1+X in order 
to perform this tech. The partner technique (yuujou waza) will 
rise kyuui (球威). With this tech the ball will bounce. A LOT.

月の輪落とし
Tsuki no wa otoshi - Moon's Ring Drop: When the opponent hits a
smash press R1+X. It is a ball that will land on the base line
every time. The partner technique (yuujou waza) will rise kyuui
(球威).

黒鯱
Kuroshachi - Black orc: Character must be at least tension 2 in 
order to do this tech. In the front court press R1+O (drop) or 
R1+X (lob) when returning a ball (not a smash or topspin that 
lands in the back court) with the back hand. The drop has extra 
slice.

俺もうワクワクしてきたっ!!
I am already excited!!

Status: Power: B, Footwork: C, Stamina: D, Mental: E, Technique: B
Ability: Grip, Doutaishiryoku (ability to see opponent's movements)

<Description>
Possesing a golden wrist, the magic volleyer:
Though always sleeping, when opening his eyes he turns into a
rather loud and naughty youngster. In volley, he trusts himself
for sure, any type of ball the opponent hits, has a tech that
drops them extremely far away.

サーブ&ダッシュ
Serve and dash: When serving, press R1+X or O. Immediately after 
hitting the ball the character will speed up to max for a while. 
Can only be acquired with Footwork A or more. The partner 
technique (yuujou waza) bends the serve.

神に愛された手首
Kami ni ai sareta tekubi - Wrist loved by God: In the front court 
press R1+O when returning a ball that isn't a lob. The partner 
technique (yuujou waza) makes it almost impossible to return. With 
this tech the character will run and hit a drop far away from the
opponent. Can only be acquired with Technique A or more.

ぬうううーっ!! (add tenten to all "u")
Nuuuuuuu!!

Status: Power: SS, Footwork: D, Stamina: D, Mental: C, Technique: C
Ability: Power Stroker

<Description>
The opponent's strength, techs returns them like that!:
Like a shadow accompanies Atobe, the reticent 2nd year. With
peerless strength, equaled and exceeded Seigaku's Kawamura's
swings. Even further, he can copy opponent's techs, and according
to the opponent's circunstances, he can turn into a powerful monster.

強くなれる体
Tsuyoku nareru karada - Body becoming strong: Press R1+X and the 
character will copy the power special shot of the opponent.

無意識に刻まれた技
Muishiki ni kizamareta waza - Technique carved in the 
unconsciousness: Press R1+O and the character will copy the 
opponent's technical special shot.

純粋な心
Junsui-na kokoro - Pure heart: After 3 games and when the character
is losing, press R1+O in between points. Rises stats to those of the
opponent (when higher).

His few techs would make you want to replace him in Pair Mode, though. 
*Note: Ootori means big bird. NJStar says it means "male phoenix bird".

Squad/Scud Serve: During serve, press R1+O or X. It's a 200km/h serve
that misses a lot. The partner technique (yuujou waza) makes this 
tech impossible to miss. In order to learn this tech the character 
must have a Power of at least A.

パトリオットリターン
Patriot Return: When returning a serve, press R1+X to perform this 
tech. The character will run to return it and hit a speedy ball 
that won't be seen until it lands. Keep in mind it's a lob! The
partner technique (yuujou waza) will rise kyuui (球威).

(drop) to do this homing volley. Cannot return a lob that lands in 
the front court. The partner technique (yuujou waza) will make it 
hard to return the drop.

Okuden . Ukenagashi: In the back court, press R1+X. This tech 
cannot be used against top spins. This tech returns the opponent's 
ball with the same strength which was hit by the opponent.

奥伝・壁添
Okuden . Kabezoi: When returning a ball in the front court (except 
a lob), press R1+X. The partner technique (yuujou waza) will make 
it impossible to return without a volley. It is a homing high angle
shot.

禁伝・牙突
Kinden . Kibazuki: Character must be tension 4. Behind the base 
line, press R1+X to return the ball (except for lobs and drops). 
After bouncing, the ball will go twice as fast. If the opponent 
doesn't return the ball, it will lower his tension by 2. The partner
technique (yuujou waza) will make it hard to return and rise kyuui
(球威).

裏奥伝・弐式・埋火
Uraokuden . Nishiki . Umebi: Character must be tension 3 or more. 
Behind the base line, press R1+O when returning a ball (except

Ami Watari - Crossing the Net: When returning a serve press R1+X 
to perform this move. With this tech the character will hit the

Y-Yeah, well, when returning a ball press R1+X. Doesn't work 
against smashes. With this tech the character will reach the ball 
to do a quick volley. This tech can only be learnt with Amane as 
the partner. Will only be returned with volleys. The partner
technique (yuujou waza) will rise kyuui (球威). Horebore means
"charming", by the way.
Note: I'll just directly translate from my faq in Spanish xP It's
the tech mentioned in the musical!!! In the "Advancement Match"
backstage, the actor who plays this character, Shiozaki Airu, says
it during the "Shaba Daba Dabide" song. The problem is that before
he mentioned that HE invented the dajares... He didn't expect that
the girl who wrote this faq is also a tenimyu fan!!! 
And BTW, if you search for "Shaba Daba" on youtube, you'll see the
song subtitled by samuraijun and translated (an attempt!) by moi,
the gal-who-wrote-the-faqs-for-several-tenipuri-games-ryuzaki.
Note 2: The kanji for "Horeru" (charm, fall in love, etc) is the
same as in "boke", the "idiot" part of the manzai couple. I am not
explaining the manzai routine now.

Smash shimassu - I'll do a smash: In the back court and when 
there's a smash chance, press R1+X. It's a smash that also reduces 
opponent's energy. This tech can only be learnt with Amane as the

Kouchou Sensei - Lit, "Professor in good shape", can be heard also 
as "Principal": Kouchou kouchou, kouchou sensei!. Ehhh... After

Drive A: At the back court and when returning a ball that's not smashed nor
a tech or a ball that lands in front of the service line, press R1+X. The 
character will run to where the ball is and return it with a volley that will
either throw the opponent's racket or be OUT. The partner technique (yuujou 
waza) will rise kyuui (球威).
Note: Please watch the anime or read the manga to see this tech, 'cause then
this tech will be much more fun performing.

ドライブB
Drive B: At the back court, press R1+O when returning a ball that's not a 
smash or a ball that lands in front of the service line. The character will
run towards to where the ball is and return a strong and fast volley. The
character must have a Footwork of A or more in order to learn this tech. The 
partner technique (yuujou waza) will rise kyuui (球威).

ツイストスマッシュ
Twist Smash: At the front court and when having a smash chance, press R1+X or
R1+O for a normal smash. Cannot return techs. The character will jump towards
the ball and return it with a smash that bends after bouncing. The partner 
technique (yuujou waza) will rise kyuui (球威) only if X was pressed.

模倣
Mohou - Imitation: It imitates opponent's movements. You need this tech in
order to do Ryoma's Proof of Awakening (覚醒の証). The sequence you'll have
to do is as follows. Buggy Whip Shot (R1+O), Twist Spin Shot (from Yuuta,
R1+X), Sono teido ka kozou (from Akutsu, R1+X o R1+O), Okuden . Kabezoi
(from Hiyoshi, R1+X). All in a row. After that, press R1+X to perform this
tech based on chapter 192 from the manga. Cannot be returned! For singles only.

片足スプリットステップ
Kata-ashi Split Step - One-legged Split Step: Between hits, press R1+O. Works
until the next point. Will rise velocity about three times more, also fastens
reaction and movility (takes less time to change running direction).

挑発
Chouhatsu - Provocation: Between hits, press R1+X. If the opponent doesn't 
have the "Reisei" ability and has his vitality low will drop and his/her
tension will lower by 1. In that moment opponent's energy bar will rise. Can
be done only once per game. Mentality must be S or more in order to learn
this tech.

パワーアンクル外し
Power Ankle hazushi - PA removal: Between points, press R1+X to perform this 
tech. Footwork will rise by 1. If having it, when in pair mode it will lower
technique by one if in renshuu but also will rise blue points earned.

バギーホイップショット
Buggy Whip Shot: In the Back court, press R1+O. Cannot return lob, smashes,
techs nor balls that bounce behind the service line. It's a curved cross that
changes direction.

Tsubame Gaeshi - Swallow Return: When returning lobs or top spins with the
front of the racket, press R1+X. A ball with tons of slice that cannot be 
returned once it touches the floor. The partner technique (yuujou waza) will 
rise kyuui (球威). Tsubame gaeshi is also a martial arts technique n_n.

羆落とし
Higuma otoshi - Brown Bear Drop: When the opponent performs a smash, press 
R1+O. The character will run to reach it and return it with some kind of lob
that drops right in the baseline. Instead of "drop", "fall" might be better...
The partner technique (yuujou waza) will rise kyuui (球威).

白鯨
Hakugei - White Whale: When in the back court, press R1+O when returning the
ball with the back of the racket. Cannot return balls that bounce behind the 
service line. Neither smashes nor Top spins. This tech will make the ball go
to the sky and fall right into the baseline, and then...

つばめ孵し
Tsubame gaeshi - Hatching Swallow: When returning a ball with the front of the
racket, press R1+X. Cannot return lobs, Top spins nor smashes. Just like the
Tsubame gaeshi but this one may only be returned with Itsuki's Sinker. Tension
must be 2 or more in order to perform this tech.

Ooishi as the partner. The partner technique (yuujou waza) will rise kyuui 
(球威).

菊丸ビーム
Kikumaru Beam: At the front court, press R1+O when having a smash chance.
Cannot return smashes and the character MUST hit the ball with the backhand.
The character will jump to do this Back Hand Smash. The partner technique 
(yuujou waza) will rise kyuui (球威).

菊丸ステップ
Kikumaru Step: At the front court, press R1+X between shots. The character 
will be able to cover more space, but tension must be 3 or more in order to 
perform this tech. 

充電
Juuden - Electrical charge: Between hits, press R1+O. This tech will begin
working once the character's resistence is emptied. When the character stays
still, he/she will recharge energy and strength.

that ball a lob in any situation.

グレート波動球
Great Hadoukyuu: When returning a ball that's not a smash, press R1+X. It's a 
heavy ball that is aimed at the opponent. It will probably make the opponent 
throw the racket, but if he/she evades this tech it will surely go out. The 
partner technique (yuujou waza) will rise kyuui (球威)

ダッシュ波動球
Dash Hadoukyuu: Returning a tech that's not a smash. After 3 games and when
the opponent needs a game to win the match, the Great Hadoukyuu will become
a Dash Hadoukyuu. This tech will surely make the rackets in its path fly to
the sky. Works only in doubles and once per match, but cannot be used when
in the opponent's match point.

Ora Ora Come Ooon - Hey, Hey, Come Ooon: Between hits, press R1+O. The
opponent will return a weak lob that's directed to the character.

Jack Knife Poach: When in the front court, press R1+X when returning a ball
that's neither a lob nor smash nor one that bounces behind the service line.
It's the same as the Jack Knife. The partner technique (yuujou waza) will rise

スマッシュアウト
Smash Out: When the opponent does a smash that bounces behind the service 
line, press R1+O. Doesn't work against techs. The character will scream AUTO
DAAAA!!! (which means "it's an out") and the smash will be out. Tension must

Viper Dive: Behind the service line and when the opponent performs a drop, 
press R1+O. The character will return the ball with another drop. If the 
energy level is high, then the ball will probably hit the net u_u. Cannot

press R1+O. The character will return the ball with another drop. The partner 
technique (yuujou waza) will make the drop bounce less often.

The one who uses the original Hadoukyuu:
The one who uses his power in order to be strong in tennis. The special tech of
"Bakuressai" will most probably prevent the opponent from returning the ball.

波動球
Hadoukyuu: When returning the ball (cannot be lob nor smash), press R1+X. It's
a VERRRY strong flat that will greatly reduce opponent's resistance. The 
character must have Power A or more in order to learn this tech. Roughly,
hadoukyuu means "Surge Ball". The partner technique (yuujou waza) will rise 
kyuui (球威).

蒼天球 
Soutenkyuu: When returning the opponent's hit, press R1+X. This tech cannot
return lobs nor smashes. It's a pretty high lob that's twice as fast and
powerful than a normal one. Means "ball to the blue sky" or "Blue Sky Ball" or
something like that. The partner technique (yuujou waza) will rise kyuui 
(球威).

爆裂砕
Bakuressai - Exploding Blast: When returning a smash chance, press R1+X. The
character will jump towards the ball and hit a 3 times stronger smash. Once it
touches the floor the ball... O_O... Just can't be returned. The partner 
technique (yuujou waza) will rise kyuui (球威).

Kohou - Tiger Gun: When serving, press R1+X. It's a fast serve that cannot be
seen until it bounces.

Dunk Smash: At the back court and when having a smash opportunity, press R1+X.
With R1+O will perform a drop. Cannot return techs. The character will jump
high to return the ball with a strong hit. The partner technique (yuujou waza)
will rise kyuui (球威).

豹眼
Hyougan - Panther's Eye: Between shots, press R1+O. Until the next point, 
ball's weight will loose strength.

ラッキーウォッチ
Lucky Watch: When the opponent hits a lob or anything else that could be 
returned with a smash, press R1+O. The opponent's hit will always be OUT. The
Lucky ability is necessary in order to learn this tech.

Because of exceeding abilities, his outstanding talent runs wildly:
Despite being a problematic child of bad behaviour, at the age of 10 he was
alredy called a genius. Capable of reaching high velocity balls, thanks to
the self-taught form he can return short angled balls.

逆だ小僧
Gyaku da kozou - It's the opposite, kid: At the back court and when returning
a ball that's not a smash, press R1+O for a lob, and R1+X for a flat. The
character will be able to retain the ball in the racket by keeping the button
pressed. Technique of A or more is necessary in order to learn this tech. The
partner technique (yuujou waza) will rise kyuui (球威).

その程度か小僧
Sono teido ka kozou - Is that all, kid?: At the back court and when returning
a not smashed ball that lands in front of the service line, press R1+X. The
character will quickly jump to the net to return the ball with a flat or drop.
The character must have a Technique of at least A in order to learn this tech.
The partner technique (yuujou waza) will make the ball impossible to return if
the X was pressed.

笑わせるなよ
Warawaseru na yo - You make me laugh: Behind the baseline and when returning a
ball that lands behind the service line, press R1+X (top spin) or R1+O (lob).
The character will slide to return the ball with either a Top Spin or a Lob.
The character must have a Technique of at least A in order to learn this tech.

a very strong top spin that will be invisible until it bounces. The partner

perform this powerful Top Spin that will be invisible until it hits the floor.

Straight: Press R1+X when returning the ball behind the service line. The ball
will always go straight and will bounce in the line. Now, the real question:

集中攻撃
Shuuchuu Kougeki - Concentration Attack: Between one's and the opponent's hits

If done in singles, point will be lost for sure. But it is cute n_n. *hint*
You CAN use it before the ball bounces a second time in the opponent's court.

When returning a stroke, opponent's shot will be lowered by half.

動体視力 - Doutaishiryoku

Won't miss shots. But when returning "bure dama" energy will drop. What 
Doutaishiryoku means is the ability to see moving objects, which is helpful
for the color cone training, for example. If you want to learn more, watch
chapter 31 of the anime.

Will always win the serve when tossing the racket if the opponent doesn't
have the same ability. In this case, it will

Will rise top spin power against player with same power. In bowling,
right-handed players will get stronger when changing to the right.

トップスピンロブ - Top Spin Lob

will be on 100. If both characters were born the same day, then AP will rise
200 *cough*Kurobane & Shishido*cough*

*In Scenario Mode (シナリオ), when Tezuka is serving and at his Match Point,
you can see THAT famous scene =D

*In the Title, if you wait enough, a demo of Oishi doing a loop in bowling
can be seen. Also will beat the Snake Eye and Big 4. Plus, Oishi comments
the techs he uses, so it's a great opportunity to steal them.
