San Andreas was the only game ever certified as Adults Only (AO) on Playstation 2, albeit briefly. It all started in June 2005, when a disabled sex minigame, dubbed "Hot Coffee," was shown to be operable on all versions if enabled with hacking tools. Naturally, players did exactly that. By July, the game had been handed its infamous AO rating -- often seen as a commercial death sentence, since consoles won't permit them and most retailers won't stock them, physically or digitally. Take Two recalled the current version to edit out the minigame entirely, and by the end of the year, San Andreas was recertified back to 'Mature.' However, the company still had to deal with a class-action lawsuit over the perceived fraud and false advertising associated with "hiding" AO content.
