The music for Onimusha: Warlords was originally credited to Mamoru Samuragochi, a man who had previously been credited for his work on the Dual Shock version of Resident Evil: Director's Cut. Samuragochi was believed to be deaf at the time and was acclaimed for his ability to compose music in spite of his disability. However, an interview at his apartment raised doubts about his deafness when he was able to answer questions before the sign language interpreter could finish translating as well as getting up to answer the doorbell when it rang.

Samuragochi was eventually forced to admit that he had not only faked his deafness but also that he was not the actual composer of the music. Instead, he had used a ghostwriter, who was later revealed to be Takashi Niigaki.
