PS1 has different colored cords than my tv?

  1. I recently found my Dad's old original Playstation and we are having troubles setting it up on our Vizio hdtv. The playstation has red, yellow, and white cords (one of each). The problem is our tv has 2 reds, a white, a green, and a blue? I tried plugging in and got a combo where everything is working (audio and it actually turns on) but it's black and white. What I'm asking is what cords go into what holes, thanks.

  1. Your answer is simple,

The red is the video always plug red in red

The white is audio plug the white in white

the yellow goes in the green,,

on some it may be the blue, but more commonly it is the green

all should work well,, if not yell back at me here

    have a good day,,

  2. OK, the TV set will almost certainly have a SCART socket - it's like a rectangle with one side going at a diagonal before straightening out. The 3 cables from the Playstation go into the relevant coloured holes on a Scart plug (you can get them from almost anywhere) - and then the Scart plug goes into the TV set.

  3. what is a rectangle with one side going at a diagonal before straightening out? a rhombus?

I checked my new 32" screen

there are hdmis 5 of them,, they are rhombuses but not playstation hookups,

playstation needs round pin holes like the colored ones you are describing Jay

    there is a

    red white yellow

    red white green

    red white blue green

    red white yellow

so correction from my earlier note

    VIDEO is yellow

    RED is right speaker

    White is left speaker

your red goes into a red AUDIO

your white goes into a white ADUIO

your yellow goes into the green VIDEO

or it goes into the Blue VIDEO

there should be a yellow on your tv also, all have them,,

but there is also a five color cable for playstation that you can buy too,, I have one at home here

hope you got it working and are having fun!!

    have a good day,
