SRW Alpha: Beyond Expectations
Introduction
What's in SRW-Alpha that made it such an enjoyable game to play with? Many gamers probably would come across this question a thousand times (but not the SRW gamers!). Well, it's not just the graphic that make this game unique, but also of the gameplay.
Graphic & Sound/Music - 9/10
A game released in the year 2000 mastered its own art, this can be seen throughout the game. There are different robots (both Real and Super). Many of them are well known to the gamers (i.e. Mazinger, Gundam Zeta), and the producer of the game had not disappointed us. Everytime a robot does a move, text are clearly listed below the screen, while strong and enthusiasted voice of the character runs in the background, accompanied by the fantastic moves of the robot...isn't it fulfilling? Besides, the very own music of the character rumbles continuously in the background, and what's more, you have the option to choose different music to listen to according to your taste. Freedom is one thing this game provided, and lots of them indeed!
Gameplay/Plot - 9/10
As previously mentioned, Freedom is what make this game unique. During the gameplay, you'll come across many options, leading you to sub-episodes. Each features its special missions and characters, accompanied by different enemies and beautiful sceneries. You can earn special items from the bosses, and sometimes earning enough Ex. Points allows you to gain access to hidden scenarios and mechas!
SRW-Alpha proceed as below:
Conversations --- Options(seldom) --- Stage --- Enhancing/Save Screen
As you can see, the game proceed as normal SLG games does.
But it allows you to upgrade your favourite or preferred mechas, upgrading their weapons, armor, agility...etc, once again, Freedom comes in play.
Also the conversation screen is interesting. Some of the anime characters are so well-drawn that when they express their expressions (i.e. anger, sadness) they look as real human beings! But 'cause that's not possible. But indeed, another feature to enjoy with.
Additional Features - 9/10
For additional features, I refer to the 'Option' button shown in the main screen. Why is it worth mention? Because inside, you get to access ALL music you will come across with while enjoying the game, also there are background info about the mechas, giving you better understanding the robots (i.e. what type is it, when was it made, how heavy/high is it...etc). Song Lyrics are written for special songs (e.g. White Reflection of Gundam W). And there are much more to come. But I won't tell you just yet, go explore yourself!
Conclusion
Lastly, I will like to conclude all the things I previously mentioned. Having gone through the review, I believe you found something (well, at least) of the game that interested you. Don't be frustrated by the language of the game. Just like sport, you don't need language for this game either. It's the Freedom that matters after all, which SRW-Alpha includes them all. The choice is yours, and you decide for yourself..
