Carlotta: Friendships are just what happens when you've used someone for so long it becomes habitual.
Lewton: The troll stepped out of the shadows like like was too intimidated to illuminate him. He seemed like the quiet sort, but you got the feeling that if you stepped out of line you'd get your teeth kicked down your throat. For that matter, he could kick your throat down your chest and your chest through your legs, but I was hoping it wouldn't come to that because none of my clothes would fit.
Butler: If sir is not too busy, the master of the house wishes a word with you.
Sapphire: Didn't mother tell you not to walk into rooms unannounced?
Lewton: With my brains and your looks, we could go places.
Lewton: Am I dead?
Death: I'll see you later.
Connection to Other Media
Laredo Cronk -- the rich, female "tomb evacuator" who steals artifacts, wears short shorts, complains about "medical kits being left everywhere," and wonders why people don't read walkthroughs to reach "the third ledge in the Tomb of Texmecscwisine" -- is a blatant sendup of Lara Croft from Tomb Raider fame.
At the Patrician's Palace, when matching a scent near wine barrels, Lewton recalls the phrases "You wait. Time passes." and "Thorin sits down and starts singing about gold." These are memorable lines from The Hobbit (1982) game.
There are many nods to noir classic Casablanca (1942) in the game's plot. Ilsa is the same name as the protagonist's ex in the movie, and when meeting her at the Hotel Ankh, Lewton quips "Play it again, Sam" to the pianist. The ending features further parodies and references of lines -- "Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life," "We'll always have Hotel Pseudopolis" and "This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
