An amazingly underrated game that is one of the best platformers ever

This review is obviously for Klonoa:Door to Phantomille. This is the first game in the Klonoa series that has gone on to produce a PS2 sequel and a game for the GBA. In my opinion this is still one of the best platformers around so lets get to it.

Story: The story is pretty basic. Your basically trying to stop an evil from taking over the dream you are in. This game is about dreams. There are some plot twists but they don't happen until the end of the game. That is when the story picks up. Overall an ok story. 8/10

Graphics: Very nice for the PS1. It is in 3D with 2D characters. Everything is very vibrant and colorful. The backrounds are very well animated with things going on all the time. Overall great. 10/10

Gameplay: The gameplay is the most important part of the game and it does not fail. It is very simple. X is jump and O shoots an air bullet. The complexity comes in how to combine these abilities to overcome the games challenges. By capturing enemies you can attack, double jump, and do other things. The game is in 2.5D which means the graphics are 3D but gameplay is 2D. What is really cool here is that there are multiple paths to take. You can interact with things in the backround and in front of you. The bosses are also very fun and challenging. Overall great and still innovative. 10/10

Music: Very nice and surprisingly well done. The music is very catchy. 10/10

Replay Value: There is a good amount. Just playing the game is fun. Also there are Phantomillians to rescue in every stage, a bonus level that is challenging, and a music box to unlock. 9/10

Overall: This is a fantastic game that was overlooked. It is pretty rare now but it is worth it to find. Go and get this game. While your at it get Klonoa 2 Lunataes Veil for PS2 and Klonoa:Empire of Dreams for GBA also. 10/10

Note: This was not an average.
