"Where do you want your node today?" is a parody of "where do you want to go today?", Microsoft's mid-90s ad campaign. In the same description for "The Network Backbone" secret project, the CEO's blurb mentions, "Of course we'll bundle our MorganNet software with the new network nodes!" -- a reference to Microsoft's famous antitrust case.
