Why enemy can pass through my walls?

I'm on the 7th land and i can say that till now,i didnt used walls.Then i tried to built walls around the city,i didn't let any gap on the walls and i made a gate.(i made the arrow to look from the outside of the town)
When the enemy attacked me they passed through my walls like they were not existed!
