Battle for Bikini Bottom Review

Hello, this is Raabdude again for another review on and today I will be reviewing Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom for the PC, let me say that it is nothing at all like the PS2 version except for the story maybe, I didn't pay attention to the stroy of the PS2 version...

Story - The story for this game is that Spongebob and Patrick are having a party and they are playing a game with robots, (I think it was a tea party...)when they see a falling star, they wish upon the star that their robots could be real and they could have a real and authentic tea party. Meanwhile, plankton is cooking up something very, very evil, one of his colledge edducated plans, he makes a bunch of robots do what he asks (get the krabby patty secret formula of course) but they do not obey him because the switch for obeying was set to not obey and so the robots did, or did not do. They go out of the chum bucket and wreak havoc on bikini bottom. The next day Spogebob awakes to see that every one he knows is missing, he must go through all the wilderness of bikini bottom to find his friends and when he does that he will search for the only one who can save the sea... Mermaid Man!

Concept - Well all you do is do different minigames to your friends and there will be a trivia round for the character you are saving and there will be a put everything where it belongs minigames. There are I think 5 or 6 minigames in each area and there are 5 areas. You can start any where and the whole game will take you about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. to beat.

Controls - The controls are changed each minigame and each minigame has a unique set of controls. All of the trivia and put-everything-where-it-belongs games all have the same controls. In trivia, you will be asked questions about what friend you are saving, you are asked ten in total and the sooner you click on the right answer, the more points you'll get. In the put-everything-where-it-belongs games are that you have a bunch of inventory items that you collected during all of the minigames before it, you should have all of the items at the point where you are at that minigame. You point and click with mouse on an item in the inventory and then you drag it over to where you think it goes, take your finger off the mouse and if you didn't put it in the right place it'll be placed back into you inventory.

Graphics - The graphics are not bad for a PC game in 2003 and the characters aren't that bad looking ut they barely have expression on their faces! The graphics are also very pixellated but there aren't many lags. Some of the characters become semi-see-through mostly the robot people.

Bad stuff - Some bad things are that the mouse is your controls basically, the games are awfully simple and they thought that an amazing platformer could be turned into a good minigame collection? HA! It doesn't take too long to beat and the minigames are annoying like when you are jumping platforms in the mermalair, you fall very easily.

Good stuff - Everything else is fine, it has passable graphics for a PC game in 2003, the minigames are okay, there's a bowling level, a dancing level, and a redo of snake and whack-a-mole! YAHOO!

Overall - It's an okay game, it'll do good for a 7/10, not bad, see ya.

Rating:   3.5 - Good
