When using two handed weapons, does your shield still affect you?
-
I have an elementalist/mesmer, and he has a water staff and a grim cesta. When he wears both at the same time, does the cesta still affect him (it is a magic item, +5 armor and +5 armor vs physical damage)? cheddar95 - 9 years ago

Thanks. Also, it's elementalist/mesmer. I'm mainly a hydromancer, but I use some points towards energy storage. From mesmer, I only use inpsiration magic (basically, for infinite energy and some healing). cheddar95 - 9 years ago

Nope, it doesn't. If you look at the inventory screen, you'll notice there's a red circle with a line through it over your cesta. That means that although you have it equipped, you get no benefit from it. Wands (and any other one handed weapon), however, do work with off-hands (shield/focus) since wands are one-handed. As mentioned, you will gain no effect from any offhand (Shield or Focus Item) when using any two-handed weapon. Many characters do, however, retain an offhand even when primarily using a two-handed weapon. This is for swapping between the two-handed and a wand+offhand (for example) in order to gain the bonuses of the offhand when needed.
Not that you asked, but you should likely focus on elementalist-based weaponry rather than an elementalist and necro mix.....your secondary should always be a complementary component, with the focus on the primary profession. LokiISP (Expert) - 9 years ago
