Copyright $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Since my first guide way back in 2005, I have gotten a lot more lenient in regards to copyright. If you are a website wanting to use my guide, just ask beforehand through an email. Unless some bizarre situation arises, I will likely accept the request. Not asking beforehand is strictly prohibited. The one thing I request is to not claim this guide as your own, commercially. Introduction $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Welcome to my third ever walkthrough! I absolutely love this game and wanted to make a guide to show to everyone the depth that this game has. When I first saw the game, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it, since I just finished playing Walking Dead Season 1-2 and Wolf Among Us from Telltale. I got the game around the time Episode 2 came out, so I played the first two episodes and got hooked on the game. I ran a few playthroughs of the game, read some theories as episodes came out, and watched several Let’s Plays of the game, and was amazed at how in-depth the game is. A lot of the game’s charm is very subtle, so I hope this guide will show some of the less obvious aspects of the game! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 3. Version History $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Version 1.0 – December 30, 2015 – Sorry for the delay everyone! I updated the guide to include the walkthrough for Episode 5 and the Choice Consequences. The walkthrough is now complete story-wise, but it is not necessarily complete update-wise. I will likely still apply a few random updates here and there related to new discovered consequences for choices, but the core of the guide is now complete. Version 0.8 – August 13,2015 – Typed up the main walkthrough up until what is currently out. I still need to finish Episode 5 when it releases and update the Choice Consequences section. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 4. Walkthrough $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ The meat of the guide. I am personally a huge completionist when it comes to games. As a result, I decided to create a completionist walkthrough. This guide will get you every single photo collectable, show you how to trigger all consequences-based decisions (minor and major), have you talk to everyone, and have you examine interesting objects in the areas. I don’t cover every single examinable object because I feel that would be too excessive. Without further ado, let’s go! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ EPISODE 1 ( 4.1 ) ++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ___________ / Nightmare \ |-----------|___________ | Pictures So Far: 0/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.1.1 | Welcome to the game! Our adventure starts out quite violently, in the middle of a raging storm. We see our protagonist, Max Caulfield, wondering how on Earth she arrived in this storm, but knowing that the nearby lighthouse is our safe haven. Begin by using WASD to follow the steps up the hill to the left. Pass in front of the suspicious pile of logs and proceed to the top of the hill. Up top, you will see a monster of a tornado. Yikes. Keep pushing forward to the bench in the distance. As you approach the bench, you get a closer look at the tornado. Soon after, a large piece of the lighthouse collapses right on top of Max. Game over... _____________ / High School \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 0/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.1.2 | Max then wakes up from her nightmare. As Max collects her thoughts, we get to see her classmates interact with one another, and her teacher Mr. Jefferson teaching the class about photography. As Mr. Jefferson and one of the classmates (Victoria) interact, you gain the ability to look around at objects at your desk. Now would be a good time to open up your journal (TAB), where you can learn quite a bit of backstory on Max. The journal is neat in the regards that it updates as you make decisions, so it’s worth it to check out the journal every once in a while to see Max’s opinions on your (her) choices. Anyway, when you are done reading the journal, look at your picture on your desk. This is the picture Max picked as a submission to the Everyday Heroes contest, but she wants a much better picture to choose. After looking at the picture, go ahead and look at other objects on the desk, and when you are ready to continue, take a selfie. Mr.Jefferson will comment on your selfie, and ask you a photography question. Answer how you wish and you will have Victoria answer instead, quite condescendingly. Gee thanks Victoria. The class will then conclude after some more learning on the Daguerreian Process. Let’s get our first picture collectible! Walk forward to the middle table and the text Etched Marks should pop up. Select “photo” to get a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (1/10). Next, look around at objects to learn more about Max’s opinions on Mr. Jefferson and the class. Of particular interest is the crumpled ball of paper next to Kate (the girl sitting by herself). The ball of paper is taunting Kate on a porn video she was in. Talk to Kate if you like, and then head over to Mr. Jefferson and talk to him (you will have to anyway if you try to leave the classroom). He eagerly awaits your entry into the Everyday Heroes contest, but no matter your choice, Max clearly does not want to submit her picture. After a motivational lecture from Mr. Jefferson, it is time to leave the classroom. There’s quite a bit to interact with here in the hallways, while listening to the sweet tunes of To All of You. You can’t talk to anyone here yet, but this is a great opportunity to learn Max’s opinions and relationships with her schoolmates. Also note the abundance of Missing Person posters, all of the same person: Rachel Amber. Someone clearly wants us to know she is missing. When you are ready to progress, head straight into the girls’ bathroom. Go ahead and wash your face when you are ready, and a blue butterfly will fly in. Take a picture of it (this is not a collectible) and a guy will enter the bathroom (who is very clearly a stable individual), followed shortly after by a girl with blue hair. After a heated discussion involving some blackmail, we see the guy (Nathan) pull a gun on the girl! Suddenly, Nathan shoots the girl! Damn, this did not end well. Suddenly, Max extends her hand and... What the hell? We are back in the same lecture as earlier today! Awesome; we can control time!! Max, in shock, accidentally knocks her camera on the ground. This is an opportunity to test out your rewind power. To make it easier to remember, here is some info on the rewind: Controls: Right click – slowly reverse time Right Click + Shift – quickly reverse time Control - go back to right before an event (when you talk to someone, or do any action where it looks like a “cut scene”) Notes on the rewind: ~ If you grab an item and rewind, you keep that item in your inventory. ~ Max stays in the same spot when she rewinds (even if “ghost” images of her appear in other spots). ~ You can rewind back to before any events that happened in your current area, but note that you cannot go back on decisions made in previous areas. Now, take a selfie again and Mr. Jefferson asks the same question as before. Max still doesn’t answer which prompts us to rewind again. Note the NEW INFO icon in the top left corner. This icon appears when you learn something interesting that can be said to a person if you rewind. I will try to alert all the times this pops up and who to talk to when it does for you completionists out there :). Go ahead and rewind, and answer Mr. Jefferson properly this time. Note that the New Info that Max gains is underlined, so you know what new information you learned exactly. Victoria is clearly jealous. The class then ends. You still have to talk to Mr. Jefferson however. Do so and answer how you please. You will get a NEW INFO icon. If you rewind and talk to Mr. Jefferson again, you can give him the John Lennon quote you learned earlier and get a more pleasant response from him. Leave the classroom when done. Now, quickly, return to the bathroom! There are no new collectibles or items to interact with, so don’t worry about that. Back in the bathroom, we follow the same sequence of events as before, and regain control of Max as Nathan gets ready to pull his gun out. Quick, it is time to act! Try to ring the fire bell, move the cleaning cart, pick up the hammer, and finally hammer the fire bell. You likely will have the girl get shot before you can finish all of this, but as long as you grab the hammer at least, you can rewind and keep the hammer, leaving just the last step to do. As the fire bell goes off, the girl escapes from Nathan, and you all three leave the bathroom. Outside, the security guard of the campus (Mr. Madsen) interrogates you. He’s onto us! The principal calls him off. Next, talk to the principal. He will note you look stressed, and ask you what’s wrong. Our first MAJOR DECISION! Choose to REPORT NATHAN or HIDE THE TRUTH. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.1 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- After you settle with a choice (rewind if you want to try the other choice), leave the school building to lock in your choice. There’s no going back now... _____________ / Main Campus \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 1/10 \ | Pictures Here: 2 / ----------------------- | 4.1.3 | Ah, the great outdoors. If you didn’t look at any of the Missing Person posters, Max will do so now when you go forward. Alright, let’s make our way clockwise around the campus! Start by talking to Ms. Grant outside the school. She will ask you to sign a petition on forbidding Mr. Madsen (the security officer you met earlier) from installing surveillance cameras all around the school. This is a MINOR DECISION. Choose to SIGN or NOT SIGN, after choosing to hear her out. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.6 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Around this time, you will get a text from a guy named Warren, asking for his flash drive back. This is our next objective! But first, let’s finish exploring the campus. Keep following the sidewalk along the school building until you see a guy with nice hair sitting at a bench (Evan). Talk to him if you like. If you want to view his photo album, try to look at it and talk to Evan, who will ask you who photographed the Falling Soldier. The answer’s Robert Capa. If you get it wrong, you can rewind and try again. Look at the album to see pictures of Rachel Amber (the missing girl). Talking to Evan will confirm Rachel was Evan’s favorite model. Next, follow the edge of the area clockwise to the next kid sitting at a bench (Luke). Talk to him if you like (there are no real consequences to telling him about Nathan, as far as I can tell). Afterwards, keep going around until you see a kid sitting underneath a tree drawing (Daniel). Talk to Daniel and he will ask to sketch your picture. ACCEPT or REFUSE this MINOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.5 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Chat with him some more to find out he also liked sketching Rachel Amber. After you finished, approach and talk to the group of skaters. Max will fail to name a simple noseslide or tre flip, ending the conversation. However, now we have some New Info! Rewind (just press Control) and talk to Justin again, and you get the opportunity to see one of the two tricks above, after choosing the underlined option. If you want a photo opportunity, then choose Tre flip. Trevor will hilariously fail the trick and fall on the ground. Go ahead and take a picture of him squirming on the ground in pain for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (2/10). Harsh, but hey we needed that picture. Talk to Justin again to learn Rachel Amber used to hang with the group on occasion. Damn this missing girl was friends with everyone. Next, walk along the edge a bit until you are in front of the large statue in the center. Walk forward approaching the statue from the front. Once you are right in front of it and the angle is right, you can get a photo op. Take a photo for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (3/10). You can sit at the edge of the fountain if you would like to reflect on the fact that you can control time now. Following this, talk to Brooke (the girl to the right of the fountain holding the pink tablet). Reply as you like to her and she, rather harshly, disses you. If you would like to fly her drone, search her bag to find a model number, which is perfect New Info. Note: Whenever I say “rewind” now, unless stated otherwise, I mean rewind one event back. This generally just means pressing control once. Rewind and talk to Brooke again, mentioning the model number. She will appreciate your interest in drones, and allow you to fly it, which is a neat way to view the area. After this, talk to Hayden (the guy sitting between two girls laying down) if you like to learn that, you guessed it, Rachel Amber also used to hang out with him and the rest of the Vortex Club, although she wasn’t actually a member of the club. To wrap up all the chatting, talk to Stella, who is found with the blonde girl fairly close to the large statue. You learn that she has a crush on Mr. Jefferson, and that Victoria’s flirting does not work on him. You will also learn that, interestingly, Rachel Amber and Mr. Jefferson had sex. Well, that wraps up this area. Look around at posters and signs if you like, and when you are ready to progress, head over to the dorm, which is on the path between Evan and Luke, the two guys sitting on benches. _____________ / Dormitories \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 3/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.1.4 | There is a lot less to do in this area than the last. First of all, if you go forward and examine the graffiti on the tree to the right, you’ll find out Rachel owes money to someone. I guess not everyone likes her. You can then talk to Alyssa, the girl with purple hair, if you like, although she isn’t super talkative. Next, talk to the two people tossing a football if you like, although they really do not say much. If you go all the way to the back, you will see Kate. She isn’t in the best of moods however, but she’s polite about it if you try to talk to her. The tree next to Kate has a squirrel messing around with a can. If you approach the squirrel, you can take a picture for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (4/10). You can then talk to Samuel, the janitor. Samuel’s a very interesting character, I must say. He also knows about Rachel Amber, and answers any questions on her in cryptic metaphors. When ready to progress, talk to Victoria in front of the door. She goes Queen Bitch on you and refuses to move, leaving you with an admittingly clever insult. It’s time for our first time puzzle! To solve the puzzle, run back towards the back of the area, where you will now see the white door near here is open. Enter the room and approach the water pump. Rewind all the way back to the beginning (don’t worry; the beginning is now right after your dialog with Victoria ended, so you still keep your photo op and conversations from earlier) and use the water pump. Take that, Victoria! We are not done yet, however. Quickly leave the shed and go back near Victoria, to the bucket of paint. Tamper with it and sit back and wait. If you don’t see the Tamper option, you took too long, so retry from the very beginning. Ah, sweet revenge. Now, talk to Victoria. It is time for a MAJOR DECISION! Will you MAKE FUN OF Victoria, or COMFORT her? --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.2 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- After she lets you in one way or another, enter the dorms. ____________________ / Girls’ Dormitories \ |--------------------|__ | Pictures So Far: 4/10 \ | Pictures Here: 2 / ----------------------- | 4.1.5 | Victoria’s “minions” will dart past you with towels to clean the paint off her. After they leave, go ahead and read the slates, signs, and papers around the dorm if you desire, in order to get more backstory on the characters and setting. Damn it really seems like people are bullying Kate based on a few of the papers and her slate. Speaking of Kate’s slate (the one near room 222 that says “Will bang for Jesus”), you can DRAW on her slate, which is a MINOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.8 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- That’s pretty much it in the hallway. Enter your room, which is Room 219. You can draw on your slate before entering (after looking at it), if you like. Ah, our protagonist’s room! First of all, look in the mirror near the door to take a picture, netting a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (5/10). Next, cross the room to your plant in the corner. Another MINOR DECISION awaits here: will you WATER the plant or NOT? --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.9 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Now, go ahead and look at everything except the Sticky Note next to Max’s laptop to learn a lot about Max, such as that she has loving parents, she had a best friend named Chloe a few years back, and that she is passionate about photography. You will also see a pleasant picture of Max (if you made fun of Victoria) on her Facebook wall. When ready, read the Sticky Note to find out Dana has your flash drive now. Leave your room. Right on cue, Juliet (Dana’s friend) will walk out of Dana’s room. Talk to her to find out Dana has been sexting with Juliet’s boyfriend (ouch). She wonders why you care however, and asks you what her last name is. If you get the name wrong, you get New Info of her last name, which is Watson. Once you get her last name correct, we learn Victoria is the one who said this. Knowing how much Victoria loves drama, we decide to see if Victoria made it up by searching her room. Head over to Victoria’s room and enter, which is just across from Max’s. First of all, don’t sweat it. There’s no time limit in here. To begin, you will see a photo collection on the wall. You can MESS UP the photo collection, which of course is a MINOR DECISION with consequences. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.11 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Unfortunately for those who are playing nice with Victoria, there is a photo op only available after messing up the collection, by taking a picture (PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (6/10)). Fortunately, you can rewind after taking the picture to undo the mess up choice, as photos are saved regardless of rewinding. Anyway, go ahead and look around to learn that Victoria is quite a wealthy individual. When ready, open up her laptop and scroll over to find an email confirming she is indeed a bitch (in case it was still ambiguous to this point). Print off the email by selecting Print off the laptop, take it from her printer, and leave her room. Show the email to Juliet for her to let Dana out and the two make up. Yay for happy endings! You can now enter Dana’s room, so do so. Look around to find out Dana is a cheerleader and has a guy named Logan interested in her. You also find out Dana’s been having a pregnancy scare based on the pregnancy test on the ground and the clinic note on the table. If you are feeling extremely nosy and invasive, go ahead and TAKE the pregnancy test. This is a MINOR DECISION with consequences. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.10 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- She will get really pissed off at you if you looked at it, asking you to leave. This also removes the ability to interact with anything in the room, so you will have to rewind if you didn’t grab the flash drive. If you really want her to be mad at you, go ahead and rewind, grab the flash drive, take it again, then leave. Otherwise, just take the flash drive, leave Dana’s room, and leave the dorms, after reading Warren’s sarcastic text. _____________ / Dormitories \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 6/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.1.6 | Despite the fact we already explored this area, there’s a few new things to note here. First, you will see a very angry Zachary (probably in response to Juliet’s anger from the whole sexting fiasco) throw a football, which hits Alyssa. Here’s another MINOR DECISION! Stand next to Alyssa, rewind fully, and quickly WARN her to cause her to dodge the football, breaking a window instead! --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.7 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- This also unlocks a new photo op. Go to the broken window (right in front of Alyssa on the dorm building) and take a picture for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (7/10). Talk to Alyssa afterwards, who will thank you if you saved her. You can now leave back to the main campus... ...Until we are stopped by a scene of Mr. Madsen pressing Kate for some info. This is another MAJOR DECISION. Will you TAKE A PHOTO of the incident or INTERVENE. Kate will be mad if you don’t intervene, but you will have a photo. Do what you feel is right and let’s move on. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.3 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- _____________ / Parking Lot \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 7/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.1.7 | Time to meet up with Warren! Save talking to him for last, as it will progress the story. Talk to Juliet if you like to find out Zachary was actually sexting Victoria as a “joke”. Ouch. Next, check out the RV in the back corner. You can DRAW on one of the windows as a friendly reminder to clean the windows. This is a MINOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.12 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Like with Victoria’s messed up collection, you have to write on the RV for a photo op. Take a picture for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (8/10) and rewind if you don’t feel comfortable writing on dirty RVs. Alright, let’s talk to poor Warren. After a tragic denial of a hug, Warren chats with you about his new car and movies. Depending on how you treated Victoria earlier, he’ll comment accordingly. Tell him about your strange day if you like, and your pleasant conversation will be interrupted by the cheerful Nathan. He brings up your picture (I knew he saw it when he left!). Respond as you will, and Nathan will try to attack you! Luckily, Warren holds him off for you. What a bro! The blue-haired girl from earlier drives up and sees you for the first time. It’s Chloe!! Your best friend from a few years ago! You quickly hop into her truck and leave Warren to fight with Nathan. Poor guy. You a Chloe catch up in the truck. She’s not super happy about Max not calling for the five years she was gone, and to make things worse, Max’s camera broke during the scuffle with Nathan. After a little more warming up to Chloe, you two arrive at her house. _______________ / Chloe’s House \ |---------------|_______ | Pictures So Far: 8/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.1.8 | Despite being a pretty large area, there are no pictures here! We start by seeing Chloe’s punk room. You can look around her room to learn more about what she has been up to while you two were gone. She also seems to hate paying parking tickets. You may also notice a large stack of Missing Person posters. Aha, so Chloe is the one who put them up! Also, if you want to break Chloe’s snow globe, go ahead and SEARCH the high box to the left of her closet. You’ll drop the box and break the snow globe (a MINOR DECISION). Way to go, Max. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.14 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- This will give you a chance to see Chloe’s report card however, which is less than stellar. When ready, look under her bed at the secret-looking box and search it. You’ll find the CD and a picture of... Rachel Amber and Chloe! Chloe confirms that she is the one who put up the posters, and explains how she and Rachel were extremely close friends while you were gone those five years. Chloe, feeling sad, wants to chill by herself for a bit, so find the power strip by the TV, turn it on, and put the CD in the Hi-Fi stereo. Chloe will want to be alone for a bit, so leave her room. While upstairs, go ahead and look in the bathroom at stuff if you desire, then head to the door near the stairwell. Enter to be in Chloe’s parents’ room. The first thing you will see is a bird smash into the window and die. Charming. If you want to save the bird’s life, go to the window and rewind back until the bird is back outside the window. Go back a few more seconds to be sure, and then quickly OPEN the window. The bird will fly into the room, rewarding Max’s MINOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.13 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Go ahead and check out the room. Of note are the dog tags in the drawer right of the bed, saying DAVID MADSEN. Hmm maybe this means Mr. Madsen is Chloe’s step-dad? When you are done checking out the room, leave and head downstairs. Once downstairs, explore the living room, kitchen, and backyard to get a lot of backstory on Chloe, Max, and Chloe’s parents, and the relationship they all share. You will also learn that the family isn’t wealthy at all, with overdue bills. Around this time, you will also get a text from Kate, toned differently depending on your choice from earlier with her and Mr. Madsen. When ready, enter the garage. First of all, if you go straight ahead to the cupboards along the wall, and look up on the right side, you will see some Files. Here’s where a pair of MINOR DECISIONS arise! If you try to look at the files, they will drop into a puddle and get damaged, which leaves evidence you were here. This can be fixed if you rewind. If you knock the files down and look at them, you can learn about what Mr. Madsen is surveying, which is mainly Kate! If you read these files, you will have this decision permanently selected (rewinding will actually NOT fix this choice). Next, this is not technically a consequences-based decision, but you can also open the left-most cupboard to see a TV. This will show an array of cameras all over Chloe’s house! So, I am not exactly sure how the TV factors into the two decisions. I know reading the files and NOT viewing the TV will still display as “you read David’s files”. However, the TV has the consequences message when you view it. My guess is that leaving the door open to the cupboard will result in leaving evidence of tampering. I think looking at the TV and NOT the files will result in you not reading the files as a consequence. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.15 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.16 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- With those two things done, look around if you like. You can learn more about Chloe’s step-dad here. In particular, there is confirmation he’s Mr. Madsen, along with the knowledge he’s also a war veteran. When ready, look above the washing machine to the left of the row of cupboards to find the tools! To get the tools: Look at them, turn on washing machine, rewind, push cardboard (on floor nearby), turn on washing machine, and pull cardboard. Now, head back upstairs, go into Chloe’s room (it’s the first door on the right at the top of the stairs that says WRONG WAY), and use the Tools on the desk. Unfortunately, it was a pointless endeavor, as Max is unable to fix her camera. Chloe checks out your photos (one is of Victoria if you took it and one is of Kate if you took it) and sees the blue butterfly picture. She pieces two and two together and realizes you were in the bathroom with her, and saved her life! Confirm or deny it (she’ll see through your pathetic lies) and she’ll ask if you overhead the conversation. She’ll mock you a bit for bringing up the principal, but be happy no one knows SHE was involved. She will give you a birthday present: her dad’s camera! Yay we can take pictures again! The two of you then get to rock out a bit (Woo!!). Check out Max’s hardcore dancing. Party it up until Mr. Buzzkill comes home. Uh oh, he’s coming upstairs... Alright, a major choice is coming up soon. We got a total of FOUR outcomes here: two for when you hide successfully, and two for when you fail to hide. To hide successfully, try to hide in the closet, rewind fully, move the floor lamp near the closet, and hide in the closet again. To fail at hiding, just chill out and wait for Mr. Madsen to finish his countdown. Regardless if you succeed or fail, Mr. Madsen will barge in and mention he is missing a gun (and mention his files are tampered if you left evidence earlier). He will then see the weed Chloe was smoking earlier, and call her out on it (and hassle you a bit if you didn’t hide). Now, you can blame Chloe or take the blame yourself. So, how these choices play out differs slightly based on whether or not you hid, along with how mad/chill Chloe is with you afterwards. Taking the blame will make Chloe happy regardless, along with pissing off Mr. Madsen. Chloe will also mention having proof of David (Mr. Madsen) harassing Kate if you took the picture. However, it seems like Chloe is happier if you hide and then take the blame, as she also shows you that she is the one who took David’s gun! If you blame Chloe when not hidden, she will be pissed at you afterwards, after a rather unpleasant confrontation between her and Mr. Madsen. Staying hidden will disappoint Chloe, but she will not be as mad. Mr. Madsen will not be mad at you however, since he did not see you. It’s your choice in this MAJOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.1.4 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Now that this decision is over, examine the window to leave Chloe’s house. _______ / Cliff \ |-------|_______________ | Pictures So Far: 8/10 \ | Pictures Here: 2 / ----------------------- | 4.1.9 | Hmm, déjà vu. Alright, let’s start by getting those last two pictures! Turn around and walk down the path opposite the path you took in your nightmare. You will see rocks in the middle of the path. On the far rock is a blue bird. Walk up to it and take a picture for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (9/10). Next, follow the same path you did at the beginning of the game up to the top of the hill. You will find Chloe on a bench. Check your texts to see Warren is okay (good!), and then proceed to walk up behind Chloe on the bench. Get that beautiful sunset view centered in front of Chloe and snap your last PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (10/10) of the episode. Finally, talk to Chloe. She will either be mad or happy with you depending on how you handled Mr. Madsen. If you After talking through it, you’ll learn about Nathan and Chloe’s bad relationship together, which involves blackmail, money, and drugs. After a nice Breaking Bad reference (if you didn’t tell the principal), Chloe will talk about missing Rachel and wanting to bomb Arcadia Bay. This causes Max to have a migraine and teleport back to... The nightmare!! Oh god. You will see a translucent doe in the distance. Follow the doe and keep to the right at the split, as a rock drops on the left side. A tree will then fall, which blocks your path. Rewind until the tree is back up and quickly cross before it falls again. Keep going up the stairs. Go left of the logs when you get close (as they fall down on you), rewinding if you are too slow. Let them fall past you and climb up to the top of the hill. Walk towards the tree blocking part of the cliff near the bench to have a boat smash into the lighthouse. The boat will fall, hitting the tree out of the way. However, a piece of the lighthouse will soon after collapse and smash this path completely. In between these two events, quickly cross the narrow cliff back to the bench. Read the newspaper. According to the newspaper, this tornado appears on October 11. The current in- game data is October 7. This means we have four days till this storm comes... You snap back to reality, and Max understandably freaks out. She tries to explain to Chloe the tornado vision and her time travel abilities, but naturally Chloe doesn’t believe her. Suddenly, snow begins to fall... in 80 degree weather! Chloe now begins to believe Max. Next, we see clips of many of the major characters seeing and reacting to the unusual snowfall. Poor Kate :(. We also see a new character with a dog who steps out of an RV. The episode ends with a short clip showing a row of red binders, one which has Rachel’s name on it. END OF EPISODE!!! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ EPISODE 2 ( 4.2 )+++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ____________________ / Girls’ Dormitories \ |--------------------|__ | Pictures So Far: 0/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.2.1 | Ah welcome back to a new episode! The episode begins with a recap of the events from the previous episode, so you are caught up on the story. The day begins with us seeing Max waking up, so wake her up by hitting the snooze. You will see papers and books all over the place. It seems like Max was researching this whole “time travel” thing last night. Alright, let’s begin with a MINOR DECISION! Walk up to your plant and choose to WATER it or NOT. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.6 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Go ahead and look around Max’s room. You will find out more detail on her time travel research, Victoria’s picture (if you took it in Episode 1), her phone and journal (which both have new content since the end of Episode 1), and her bed which you can make if you want. When you are ready, grab her shower supplies in the clothes closet area and leave her room. The first sight you get is Victoria bossing her “minion” around. After this, go down the hall to Alyssa (the purple-haired girl). She will be attacked by a roll of toilet paper as you approach. Like with Episode 1, you can warn her in a MINOR DECISION. To do so, rewind until before the TP hits her, go back another few seconds, and quickly WARN her. Saved again! --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.7 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Go forward to see Trevor leaving Dana’s room. Interesting. You can go inside and talk to Dana to learn Trevor asked Dana to a Halloween party. You two will also make up if you peeked at her pregnancy test earlier. She will then ask if you want to join in with Warren to the Halloween party. Answer how you please. If you look around her room, you’ll see contraceptive pills, which were not there yesterday. Leave Dana’s room and talk to Brooke and Juliet if you want. You can have a chance to defend Kate in front of Juliet here. When you are ready, head into the bathroom. Here you will find Kate. Talk to her. She will talk about your decision that you made yesterday, and after venting/being friendly, will ask for her copy of “October Country” back. This is our next objective! First, though, go ahead and take a shower. During your shower, Victoria will come in and, naturally, be a bitch to Kate. Kate will leave, saying she will be sorry someday. Victoria will then trash talk you (with some variance depending on what you did to her earlier), write the URL to Kate’s video on the mirror (someone actually made a website in real life for this too!), and leave. After this, you get out of the shower. Now, what to do with that URL? This is a MINOR DECISION. Erase or leave it (how heartless!). --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.8 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Afterwards, return to your room. If you pissed Nathan off by reporting him, you’ll get a friendly message from him on your photo wall. If you pissed Victoria off with the picture, you’ll also get a friendly message on your mirror. Damn vandals. Regardless, interact with the clothes to change back into the same clothes as yesterday, which the game cleverly lampshades. Time to get the book! The book is found on top of the square cubbies left of your couch, near the glass of soda. Search this pile to find the book... and spill the soda all over it. Greeeattt. Rewind, move the drink, and grab the book. Max’s personality is awesome when she interacts with things. Anyway, with the book in your inventory, leave your room and go to Room 222, which is Kate’s. Right before entering, Max will get a threatening text from an unknown number. After reacting to this threat, go ahead and enter Kate’s room. Damn, it’s really depressing in here. First of all, go to the rabbit near Kate’s bed. Go ahead and take a picture of it for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (1/10). Next, look around Kate’s room to get a lot of backstory on her. It seems like she has some mixed reactions from her family on the video, some of them being really negative. Man, you have to feel really bad for her. When ready, talk to Kate. The conversation will start with Kate wanting an explanation for whatever choice you made in Episode 1. Answer with your reasoning, and Kate will dive into more detail on the video. Apparently, Kate does not remember being in the video, and hardly had any alcohol, which heavily implies she was drugged. She also remembers that Nathan was tasked with delivering Kate to the emergency room, but Kate’s memory around this is fuzzy. Hmm the events around this video got really serious. Go ahead and leave her book near her backpack after the conversation, and she will stop to ask you a big, MAJOR DECISION. Should we REPORT all of this to the police or WAIT and gather more proof? This is not an easy decision. Choose what you like. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.1 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- After deciding, leave Kate’s room and you get a few texts from Chloe, asking you to grab some food with her at the Two Whales Diner. Will do! Go ahead and leave the dormitories to conclude this area. _____________ / Dormitories \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 1/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.2.2 | Alright, there are a few things to take care of first in this area. Talk to Samuel first if you like, who is sitting on a bench with a few birds. He will give you a few more cryptic metaphors, and you two will talk about spirit animals. After the chat, head back to the bench Kate was on in the last episode, near the large tree. You can interact with the food waste, so do so to start luring a squirrel to the bench. Back up about 20 feet and wait. When the squirrel reaches the food, approach it and snap a picture to get a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (2/10). Turn around and run to the other big tree to see Taylor (one of Victoria’s “minions”) underneath. Chat with her, and she will not be super friendly. However, you will learn her mother is sick. With this NEW INFO, rewind and talk again. If you MENTION her sick mother, you will have a small bonding moment, and she will be far friendlier to you. Quite a pleasant MINOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.9 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Walk towards the exit of this area to run into Warren. You have a chance to thank him for taking a beat down for you. You can also choose to tell Warren about Nathan or not. After this, he invites you to “Go Ape!” with him at the drive-in! Who could turn down Warren? You can, if you select NO. Make a MINOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.10 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- With this out of the way, it’s time to meet up with Chloe! Go ahead and leave the area. Sit back and enjoy the bus scene to get a neat view of the town. _______ / Diner \ |-------|_______________ | Pictures So Far: 2/10 \ | Pictures Here: 3 / ----------------------- | 4.2.3 | You get off the bus at the edge of the diner and receive a text from Chloe saying she is running late. That’s alright; it gives us more time to collect stuff! Go ahead and talk to the old guy and woman for some idle conversation if you like. You can also talk to the fisherman near the yellow truck for some background information on the Prescotts (Nathan’s family) and their plan to take over Arcadia Bay. After this, check out the sketchy RV here if you like, which should still have your window message from the last episode if you wrote it. If you go around the RV, you can see the same man and his dog from the end of the last episode. Alright, let’s get some pictures! Go to the front of the diner outside and look up at the sign on the roof. You should see a “sign” prompt. Walk towards it until you can interact with it and take a picture. Do so for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (3/10). You might need to walk back and forth a bit around it to get the photo prompt. Next, keep walking forward around the diner, talk to the man if you want, and go around back behind the diner. You’ll find a homeless woman back here. I highly recommend you talk to her, as she will be more welcoming to you next episode. She gives a lot of information on the history of the town. Keep going behind the diner after the talk and walk up to the chain link fence. If you face the dog here, you can get a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (4/10) through the fence. With all of this done, feel free to actually enter the diner now. First of all, walk to the left of the counter into the bathroom. Look at the right mirror and walk up to it. Take a picture of the writing on the mirror for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (5/10). Inspect the lovely graffiti if you like, and then head back into the main diner. There are quite a few people to talk to and things to examine in here. Of particular interest is the cop, who you can talk to about Chloe and Mr. Madsen. Hmm, seems like Mr. Madsen is not super well-liked among cops. You can also get insulted by a trucker if you like! And talking to Justin and Trevor will give an insight into the love-triangle of sorts they have with Dana. Justin seems cool with it, though. When ready, take a seat at the second-furthest booth.
Joyce (Chloe’s mom) chats with you a bit about life and Chloe, along with some dialogue on your choice regarding the pot in Chloe’s room. Answer how you wish, and then you have a critical choice to make: what will you eat? This choice will drastically alter the ending of the game, so very, very carefully choose. After making your choice, go ahead and look around until you get your meal. Go ahead and eat, talk to Joyce, and watch Chloe casually stroll in. Enjoy the argument between her and Joyce, and afterwards, get ready for some serious business: Chloe wants to see proof of your time-controlling abilities! Your first challenge is to guess everything in Chloe’s pockets. Go ahead and guess anything, as we don’t know yet. After your wrong guess, look at each and every item carefully. Remember any details about the objects. When ready, rewind and answer. You have to answer each of the four items, and a detail about the item, correctly. Here are the answers: seven cigarettes, a panda keychain, 86 cents, and a parking ticket at 10:34 am. You will naturally freak Chloe out a bit. After Chloe eats her meal, she will want more proof, so you decide to predict the future! Carefully watch everything that happens. Something will happen first of all with Joyce and the trucker, followed by something with the cop, then a fight with Trevor and Justin, and lastly (which will take a few seconds of waiting) the jukebox will malfunction. Chloe will ask what you are waiting for (heh) and then you can rewind. Go all the way back and talk to Chloe. You now have to give a detail for each of the four events from above. The answers are: Trucker drops his mug. ...and his partner leaves. (the ... represents ‘Alert on cop’s radio’) ...and Joyce stops them. Jukebox goes crazy as a cockroach crawls on it. If you got all four right, then you will see a cinematic view of the events. If you got any wrong, the view won’t look cinematic (hard to explain). Chloe will pledge allegiance to you and outline all the possibilities you have with this power. However, Max will start to get a nosebleed. Uh oh, that’s not good... Time to leave. When ready to leave the diner, talk to Chloe. Right before you decide to leave, you get a call from Kate. This represents a MAJOR DECISION. Choose to ANSWER Kate or NOT, deal with the consequences of your choice, and head out of the diner. Note the ominous gaze of the man who had the dog outside... --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.2 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- __________ / Junkyard \ |----------|____________ | Pictures So Far: 5/10 \ | Pictures Here: 3 / ----------------------- | 4.2.4 | Welcome to the junkyard! This is a fairly large map with a lot of collectibles in it, so get ready! Start by chatting with Chloe, and she will decide to do a little firing range in the junkyard, but needs targets. She asks us to grab five bottles. Let’s do it! Start by turning around and going to the refrigerator near the bus and blue boat. There are a couple of tires and a pan on top, with a bottle on top of those. Try to grab it, fail, rewind, move the nearby crate, and then grab the first BOTTLE. Now, if you look to the left of the fridge, you will see two stacks of tires: one with three and the other with four and a blue pan on top. To the left of the four-tire stack is a pink thing with a paint can in front. Stand as close as possible in front of this pink thing and look at the bus. Take a picture from this angle for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (6/10). After taking the picture, turn to the right (back towards the fridge) and walk this way. Keep going straight up to the railroad tracks in the distance. Once near the tracks, turn to the right and look at the cluster of cars next to the concrete shack of sorts. If you look closely at the cluster of cars, you will see there is a path into the middle of the cluster with a campfire (you can still see some of the smoke). Walk near the campfire and grab the second BOTTLE sitting on the plank. Two down! When you try to leave, some debris falls down and blocks the exit. Rewind just until the debris is back up on the car and exit the small area. Look at Warren’s texts if you like, and then walk to the right along the tracks. We are walking around the concrete shack. Follow it around until you find a doorway, which you should enter. This is a place that Chloe and Rachel used to hang out. First of all, look at the writing on the wall that says “Chloe was here”. MINOR DECISION time! If you want, go ahead and WRITE “Max was here” to the wall if you want. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.11 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Next, look around the place. There is a lot of information on Chloe and Rachel’s relationship here, both positive and negative. When ready, grab the third BOTTLE on the chair near the pizza box. Right as you leave the shack, you will see a rusty, colorful boat in front of you. The fourth bottle is on top of this boat. Walk to the left of the boat and approach the area Chloe is standing. Right before reaching her, look to the left to see a steep slope. Go up the slope to the top and move the nearby plank on the edge. This will create a walkway to the boat, so cross the plank, sit and reflect on life if you want, and grab the fourth BOTTLE on the makeshift table. Cross back over the plank and go back down the slope. Run up to the fridge again and turn to the right. Follow this path back towards the railroad tracks again, but stop once you see the pile of logs on the left. Turn left and go through this passage to a relatively open area. Walk towards the prominent tree stump in the center of the area and you will see the translucent doe again. Walk towards it and it will run behind the stump. Walk behind the tree stump take a picture of the doe. DO NOT get too close to the doe, or it will run away. What’s really unusual/creepy is that the doe will not be affected by your rewind, so if you scare it off, it’s gone for good (at least until you retry the area in Collectible Mode). Anyway, you should have a new PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (7/10). Walk back to the narrow passageway to this clearing (the passageway near the pile of logs). You will find the fifth BOTTLE on the left, atop a car hood. With the five bottles in tow, return to Chloe and give her the bottles to continue the story. Alright, it’s time for a new challenge! Chloe has to destroy each bottle without missing a shot. As far as I know, Chloe seems to always miss in the same spot (for the first 2 bottles), so these directions should be universal. If not, just tell her to aim in the correct spot. Bottle 1: Rewind, Right Bottle 2: Rewind, Up Bottle 3: Chloe will now want to spice it up a bit. Shoot the rim on the left. Bottle 4-6: Time to get all of ‘em now! The correct spot is the tire, but it’s worth shooting the gas tank (what could possibly go wrong?) and the bumper first, the latter of which will probably teach Chloe why this isn’t the best idea. Very nice! Unfortunately, all this rewind will take its toll on Max, who will pass out. Yikes, we really should be careful with this. After a frightening reminder of what’s to come, Chloe helps you up and asks you to recover first before talking to her. Before chatting with her, walk to the left side of the car and approach her from the left. This will get the perfect angle for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (8/10) of Chloe. Now you can talk to her. Despite Max’s protests, Chloe wants her to try out some shooting. However, we get interrupted by the man from earlier, whose name is Frank. Apparently, Chloe took out a loan with Frank and she owes him a lot of cash, and he’s out to collect. After a heated discussion on the money and Rachel, Frank pulls a knife on Chloe, which Max returns with a gun on Frank. Now, we get a MAJOR DECISION: SHOOT Frank or NOT? --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.3 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Shooting Frank will result in Frank being pissed off at you, Chloe happy with you, and you still having the gun. Not shooting Frank will result in Frank not being pissed at you, Chloe being disappointed, and the gun to be in Frank’s hands. Make your choice, and when you are happy with the choice, go back to the railroad tracks to leave the area. But not yet! You and Chloe have a nice chat and relax on the railroad tracks. You wander off to take a picture of a nice view, but before you can, you black out a bit as you see the tornado again. Uh oh, blacking out with Chloe still on the tracks... As you can probably guess, this does not end well, and we wake up to Chloe screaming for your help, as her foot is stuck in the tracks. To make matters worse, the train is rapidly approaching! Crap, we gotta move!! Alright, there are a total of two ways to rescue Chloe from the tracks. Each has its own set of steps, with consequences for them! Thus, this is a MINOR DECISION too. First though, go up the slope to the shack. Look near the stack of rails on the edge to find a crowbar. Go ahead and pick it up. Now we can have our two choices. The Tampering Way: If you want to break the tracks, quickly walk up to the large cable drum near the shack on the edge. Move the wedge holding it in place on the side with your crowbar, and then push the cable drum. This will smash up the rail controls, ruining the tracks. Next, run down to Chloe and yank her out, hurting her leg but freeing her. The Correct Way: Smash open the door to the shack with your crowbar. Open the middle drawer and grab the pair of pliers. If you want a Walking Dead easter egg, go ahead and grab the axe on the wall opposite the drawers and try to use it on Chloe. Leave the shack and go down the slope to Chloe. Run to the left to the fuse box and open it. Cut the red wire. This will unlock the switching lever, which you should then pull to let Chloe out safely without tampering with the tracks. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.12 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- After this, Chloe will comment if you chose the tampering way, but then the two of you will get up and talk some more, her being thankful you saved her life again. The two of you will bond on the way back to school, and Chloe will mention chaos theory. Respond as you will and Max will then leave Chloe behind and enter the main school building. _____________ / High School \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 8/10 \ | Pictures Here: 2 / ----------------------- | 4.2.5 | Back to class. But first, let’s grab and perform a few things. First of all, talk to the principal if you like, who will refuse to talk about the gun incident out in public. You can also talk to Zachary if you want, who is by the trophy case. He naturally talks about the whole sexting fiasco he was involved in last episode. Next, talk to Courtney who is at the End of the World party booth. There is a MINOR DECISION here. If you want to be added to the list of people to attend, say you care, listen to the NEW INFO on the dress code, rewind, and mention the dress code. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.13 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Walk through the hallway back to the classrooms and Mr. Madsen will stop you, apologizing for any past decisions he’s made. You can grill him harshly or not quite as harshly, and the conversation will end. Personally, I don’t think Mr. Madsen is really that bad of a guy. Regardless, enter through the doorway to get a spamming of texts from Warren asking to see you. Don’t worry, we will. Enter the first doorway you see on the left to be in the science classroom. In here, look around and talk to Brooke if you like, then speak to our buddy Warren. Warren wants your help with a science project. Choosing to help him is a MINOR DECISION. If you want to help, choose either option, listen to Max’s corny pun, and then go up to Ms. Grant. Use your NEW INFO to ask about the experiment, rewind twice, and talk to Warren. Tell him to use chlorine instead, and he will get the correct reaction. Note that you can choose lots of potassium, but this will NOT help Warren; it has to be the chlorine answer. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.14 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- If you helped him, you get the opportunity to get a photo op! Take a picture of Warren to get a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (9/10). Alright, that’s enough of the science lab, so leave through either entrance and approach Kate and Mr. Jefferson. Kate storms off, extremely depressed and angry. :( Talk to Mr. Jefferson and you two will discuss Kate and Mr. Madsen. You get a MINOR DECISION here on whether or not to talk about Mr. Madsen and Kate together. Choose whether to tell him or hide it. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.15 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- After this, Mr. Jefferson will get a call, which ends the conversation. Step inside your classroom and walk up behind Alyssa, who’s staring out the window. Take a photo of her for the last PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (10/10) of the episode. Talk to Daniel if you like, and then approach Victoria and Nathan, who are sitting at your desk. As expected, the two decide to trash talk you, and then let you take your seat. Go ahead and sit, watch Mr. Madsen photographing Kate, and wait for Warren to come visit you. Chat with him a bit, and then class will start, causing Nathan and Warren to leave. Now, just sit back and relax through a long class lecture, until... class gets interrupted by someone saying something is going on at the girls’ dorm. Uh oh, I have a bad feeling about this... _____________ / Dormitories \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 10/10\ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.2.6 | Walk forward through the tension until you reach the group of people ahead. You will turn and see... Kate jumping off the roof of the dormitories. :( Rewind a few times, and Max will end up freezing time. Damn. Weave through the people, birds, and raindrops to the doors of the dormitory and enter. Cue one of the more depressing scenes in the game. You are on the roof and try to rewind to prevent Kate from jumping, but fail. Your rewind will no longer work, so now you have to make all the right decisions on your own. There’s no going back. --------------------------- Alright, this is a major MAJOR DECISION, so I am going to get really in-depth here. Kate is going to either jump or not, depending fully on your previous actions and what you say. There are many previous actions made throughout the last two episodes related to Kate. Each of these actions has a positive or negative response. If your choice was a positive one, then Max will talk about it, and you will have an easier time making a proper choice. If your choice was a negative one, then you have to choose the correct way to explain the choice, or Kate will step back. If Kate steps back twice, she dies. Thus, you cannot make more than 1 mistake when talking with her. STEP 1: David Madsen ~ If you stepped in, then either choice will be a good choice. ~ If you took a picture instead, the only good choice is “I was scared”. Anything else will cause her to step back. STEP 2: The phone call ~ If you erased her slate, it will be mentioned here, but will have no weight on the actual decision. ~ If you did answer her call, either answer works. ~ If you did not answer her call, believe it or not, but the correct answer is “It was in silent mode.” STEP 3: Whether you told Kate to go to the police or not ~ If you erased the URL on the mirror, it will be mentioned here, but will have no weight on the actual decision. ~ As usual, telling Kate to go to the police will result in either answer being a good one. ~ If you told her to wait for more proof, only the answer “I’m gathering proof” will work. The rest of these Steps no longer depend on previous decisions, but rather your observational skills when looking around Kate’s room earlier. Hope you looked around... STEP 4: About the video ~ Only the option “Be strong” works here. STEP 5: Family ~ “Your father” or “Your sisters” works here. If you did not mess up at all up to now, congratulations! You saved Kate’s life. If you messed up once already, then it all comes down to this final step: STEP 6: The Finale ~ “Matthew 11:28” is the correct choice here. Any other choice will result in Kate jumping off the roof. --------------------------- --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.4 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Whew, this choice was a really emotional and difficult one. After whatever happens, you end up in the principal’s office, to reflect on the event. Principal Wells will play the blame game on everyone, and then ask you for what you know. Ready for another MAJOR DECISION right after the last one? Choose to blame Nathan, Mr. Madsen, or Mr. Jefferson. Note that each of these choices’ outcomes can differ depending on previous choices. In particular, if you blame Mr. Madsen, having the photo of him harassing Kate will result in a successful blame, but not having the picture will result in Mr. Madsen not being punished, and possibly even Max being punished. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.2.5 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Regardless, sign the papers to lock in your choice. The episode ends with a sweet scene of Warren and Max chatting together about Kate. Suddenly, an eclipse happens out of nowhere, which is unusual considering it should be impossible at this time. Warren will then smoothly put his arm around Max to warm her up. Aww... :) You’ll then get a scene of the main characters’ reactions to Kate. Mr. Madsen seems really sad about what happened, Mr. Jefferson and the principal are chatting about something, Victoria seems depressed and Nathan happy (what a douche), Frank and his dog look happy together, Chloe and Max seem optimistic about figuring out what’s wrong with Arcadia Bay, and we end with either a really depressing view of Kate’s memorial or a bittersweet view of Kate in a hospital. The episode ends with a view of the red binders again, but now we see Kate’s name on one of them. Hmm the mystery grows... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ EPISODE 3 ( 4.3 )+++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ____________________ / Girls’ Dormitories \ |--------------------|__ | Pictures So Far: 0/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.3.1 | Time for a new episode! Go ahead and watch the recap on the events that have transpired so far. We start the episode at nighttime of the same day as the last episode (so only a few hours later). Max wakes up after napping at her desk in her room shortly after. Alright, let’s rock! The first thing you will undoubtedly notice is your plant. This is a MINOR DECISION that has already been decided last episode. If you watered your plant a total of one time in the last two episodes (no more and no less), your plant will be alive. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.6 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Near the plant is Kate’s rabbit, which you are taking care of while Kate’s gone. Go ahead and feed the rabbit (there are no consequences, and who wouldn’t feed the poor rabbit?). Look around the room if you like, although most stuff you have already seen. When you are ready, leave your room. You are greeted by a very dark hallway and slightly ominous music. Yay, it’s a horror game now! Go ahead and light the candle at Kate’s shrine, if she died, and enter the bathroom. You will find Taylor. Comfort or blame her for Kate, and if you comforted her, she will tell you Victoria sneaked out of the dorm. Hmm, wonder where she went off to. If you rewind and talk to her with this NEW INFO, Taylor will confirm that she does not know where Victoria went exactly. Leave the bathroom and you’ll hear nosey Max suggest a search of Victoria’s room. We’ll get there in a minute. First, enter Dana’s room and talk to her. Dana will feel bad about Kate also, so comfort her if you want. You two will talk about Kate, and if you still need to know Victoria is gone (due to being mean to Taylor), Dana will also confirm that Victoria left. Look around her room, then leave and head into Victoria’s room, which is across from Max’s room. Despite what Max says, there are no real clues in here unfortunately. Search her room if you want though, and when you are ready to get your first photo op, find Victoria’s laptop. To the left is a desk with an alien action figure on top. Walk in circles or so around the action figure for a bit. This sounds weird, but it takes a little time for the ability to interact to show up. Keep at it until you can photo the action figure, then do so for your first PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (1/10). We are done here, so leave Victoria’s room and then the building. _____________ / Dormitories \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 1/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.3.2 | This area will be pretty short. If you look to the right, you’ll see a squirrel standing on the bench looking at the fireflies. Run right up to the squirrel, rewind fully, and quickly take a picture to get another PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (2/10). Look at Kate’s memorial if she died, and then proceed onwards towards the exit. You’ll see the principal out on the porch, who will proceed to sit down on the steps. If you try to walk past him, you two will talk about Kate, but he will ask you to go back to your dorm. Rewind fully, and while his back is turned, sprint to the exit and leave the area. _____________ / Main Campus \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 2/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.3.3 | Go ahead and walk forward for a bit towards the statue, and once you rea- Chloe then jumps out and scares you! Max will not react well, especially if Kate is dead, and the two of you will converse on Kate and Max’s power. Respond as you wish, and Chloe will reveal a set of keys to the school. Alright, time to sneak inside! Before you two enter, you see Mr. Jefferson and... Victoria! So that’s where she went. She will flirt with Mr. Jefferson, but he’s not having any of it. Victoria then blackmails him so that she wins the Everyday Heroes contest. Damn she’s really interesting in winning. Mr. Jefferson will reject her blackmail attempts, and the two will walk off. After this, you and Chloe enter the school. _____________ / High School \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 2/10 \ | Pictures Here: 3 / ----------------------- | 4.3.4 | This is a big area! Start by following Chloe into the receptionist’s office. Look around the office for a few random comments and a nice reference to Catcher in the Rye from the hunting hat. When ready, talk to Chloe. The door is, of course, locked, but the set of school keys does not work on this door. This means we need to find the key! Search the line of four drawers and the key rack to find absolutely nothing. Seems like we have to open the lock unconventionally. Luckily, Max gets an idea and asks Warren for help. Warren will suggest making a small bomb to blow the lock open, so that’s what we will do! He will also reference your decision on “Going Ape” with him, which Chloe will overhear. Alright, we now have to find sugar, a soda can, duct tape, and sodium chlorate, along with a full search of the area! Start by grabbing the SUGAR on the set of drawers with the coffee maker on top. There’s not much else to do in the open entrance area, so leave the office and approach the hallway to the classrooms. Before you enter, look to your left to see a vending machine. Use it and take the SODA CAN. Now, enter the hallway and go into the first door on the left to find the science room. There’s a lot to find in this room. First, go ahead and look at the Exam File on Ms. Grant’s desk. You will find Warren’s test grade on here, which will be different depending on if you helped him in the last episode or not. After looking at it, you can change his grade if you want, which is a MINOR DECISION. It’s up to you. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.7 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Go ahead and take the sugar on the desk too, if you didn’t already grab it earlier. Next, walk clockwise around the perimeter of the classroom to the fish tank. Look at it, turn it on, take a photo, and turn it off for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (3/10). Keep walking clockwise around the perimeter to the cabinet with chemistry stuff in it. Look above the cabinets at the weed killer. Examine it and you will see that’s your SODIUM CHLORATE. Go ahead and take it, where Max will cleverly use a chair to grab it instead of likely failing without it. Near the cabinets is a skeleton with a cigarette in its mouth (clever). Walk up to it and take a picture for another PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (4/10). Open the nearby door to leave the science room. Look immediately to your left to see a soda can in the trash if you did not grab the can from earlier. Next, walk straight ahead and open the door to enter your classroom. Go to the opposite corner of the room from the door to find the DUCT TAPE near the printer. There’s another roll to the right on the film equipment box. Look around the room, and when you are ready to proceed, run back to Chloe with your four items. It’s time to blow this door wide open! The makeshift bomb works and the door swings open, but the alarm turns on! Remember how Max will stay in the same spot when you rewind? Go ahead and walk into the principal’s office and rewind to before the bomb goes off. Open the door for Chloe on the other side, who will be quite amazed at your abilities. After Chloe disses the principal’s taste in décor, go ahead and turn around, walk up to Chloe at the desk, and take a picture of her for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (5/10). Time to pillage this room! Turn around again to find a desk with a lamp and an open file on it. Turn on the lamp and look at the FILE of Kate. She’s a really good student it seems. Turn around yet again and go to the box on the chair to the right of the principal’s desk. Go behind this chair to find near it a grouping of Student Files. Search these FILES to see a (probably false) file on Nathan, one on Max herself, one of Victoria, and one of Warren (very nice GPA!). Lastly, search the FILE CABINET on the back wall right below the nearby painting. You’ll get info on Rachel Amber and learn she too was a good student. You’ll also see Chloe’s file, which is a little less fantastic. Before talking to Chloe, go ahead and look around at anything else in the room. In particular, the letter on the principal’s desk will reference the surveillance camera petition made in Episode 1, which will pass if you signed and fail if you didn’t. When ready, talk to Chloe. The two of you dig up Nathan’s real file, which is quite horrible. You’ll also see a scribbling from Nathan talking about Rachel in the dark room. That’s really ominous. You’ll also learn of a link between Mr. Madsen and Nathan. The plot thickens... Alright, time to bail! But first, Chloe sees a huge stack of cash in the desk: a total of $5,000! Chloe could use the money to pay off Frank, but it is stealing from the principal. Is it worth it? Make your choice in this MAJOR DECISION! --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.1 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- After this, leave the office and you’ll run into Chloe, who will want to go swimming before they retire for the night. Probably not the best idea >_> Regardless, you and Chloe decide to do it and head over to the swimming pool. _______________ / Swimming Pool \ |---------------|_______ | Pictures So Far: 5/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.3.5 | Once inside the pool area, look around the entrance area and then talk to Chloe. You now must choose Boys or Girls. Choose which locker room you would like Max to snoop through, and Chloe will let you in. In the girls’ locker room, you can learn that Victoria likes to take selfies too, Kate was planning on running away, and that Brooke has an interest in Warren to some degree. Interesting. The boys’ locker room shows Logan still caring about Dana, Nathan still being on medication, Zach still being careless, and Warren still liking Max, which Max doesn’t pick up on. If you want to check out the locker rooms of the one you did not pick, just walk through the current locker room and its bathroom to the main pool area and into the other locker room’s bathroom. This pool area doesn’t have a lot to interact with, but there is something interesting here. In the far back corner of the pool area you’ll see a back entrance with a light over it. Go into this corner and you’ll find some covered up speakers for the Vortex Club party. Go behind the speakers to the case with a fragile sticker on it. On top you will see a guest list. There are two MINOR DECISIONS tied to this list. First, look at the list to get a few options. If you did not get onto the list from talking to Courtney in the last episode, you can ADD your name to the list now. In addition, you can remove (other peoples’) names from the list. Add/remove names if you’d like. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.8 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.9 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Alright, go ahead and talk to Chloe. She will ask you to find the pool lights. Go into the main office, which is between the two locker rooms. Look around here if you want, then turn on the lights at the control cabinet near the shelf of binders on the wall. Chloe will get into a swimsuit and hop into the pool. Wait for her to swim around a bit, and when she gets close to you, speak to her to join her in the pool. You two will discuss the money decision from earlier, but after this, will have a really sweet bonding session with Chloe. Chloe will reminisce over Rachel, and then have a cute moment with Max. Talk with her how you wish, and the two of you will climb out of the pool. After a bit of flirting from Chloe, you two will notice a security guard entering through that back door we saw earlier! Oh crap we got to leave! Quickly run through the bathroom and the locker room to the main entrance and try to leave through the door. A security guard/Mr. Madsen will suddenly show up right outside the door, so the two split up and Max rushes into the girls’ locker room. It’s time for a little Splinter Cell action. There is only one guard you have to watch out for. He will very shortly from now enter the bathroom from the main pool area and slowly make his way into the locker room with you. If you are feeling a little ballsy, you can run into the bathroom, go to the farthest stall, and hide in there until the guard passes you and then sprint past him to the main pool area. If you don’t feel up to that, wait until he enters the locker room and circle around the lockers in the middle as he goes around. He’ll eventually leave, which will make going to the main pool area easy. Once you are in the main pool area, you’ll meet up with Chloe and the two of you will leave the pool. Chloe will suggest you crash at your place, and Max accepts hesitantly. The two of you enter in Chloe’s truck and speed off, with a guard catching the truck leaving. Uh oh. _______________ / Chloe’s House \ |---------------|_______ | Pictures So Far: 5/10 \ | Pictures Here: 2 / ----------------------- | 4.3.6 | You start this area in the morning after that crazy night. Take a selfie to get photo-bombed by Chloe. The two will converse about the previous night, and Max will suggest getting up. Do so to get some texts from Warren, which will vary based on whether or not you are going to the movies with him. Alright, are you curious on how well your relationship with Chloe is going right now? There’s a very subtle but helpful way to see how well you two stand. If you look near the bed on Chloe’s side, you’ll see Chloe’s cell phone. Go ahead and look at it, and you’ll be met with a beautiful background picture of Rachel or Max. As you probably guessed, a picture of Max means you two are on better terms than if you see a picture of Rachel. To see Max, you must have done at least THREE of the following four choices: ~ You took the blame for the pot during Episode 1 (either coming out of the closet or while still in the room works) ~ You ignored Kate’s call in Episode 2 ~ You tried to shoot Frank in Episode 2 ~ You stole the money earlier in this episode You will also see a rather heated discussion between Frank and Chloe on the phone. Alright, enough relationship analysis! Check the laptop to find out you two haven’t been identified for the pool break-in yet. Look around the room a bit, and when ready, try to wear your old clothes first, and then open the closet. Max will find Rachel’s clothes and prepare to try them on, but first, Chloe dares you to kiss her!! This is a MAJOR DECISION, so you have a big choice here on whether or not to take her up on her dare. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.2 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- After this, tell Max to dress up. Hey, the clothes actually look pretty good on her! Max will hilariously try to be a punk girl, and Chloe will respond by telling you to say hi to Joyce. Go ahead and leave the room. Read the new text relating to Kate, and head into the bathroom. If you saved the bird way back in Episode 1, you’ll see it here on the shower curtain! Go ahead and look in the mirror and snap a selfie to get a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (6/10). Look around upstairs if you wish, and then head downstairs. First of all, walk forward to the phone on the drawers in the hallway. There is an answering machine message on the phone, and what you choose to do with it is a MINOR DECISION. Either ERASE it, play it, or ignore it. Playing it riles Joyce up a bit. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.10 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Next, go into the living room and look on top of the high cabinet with a few trophies in it near the garage door. It’s a bird! Go ahead and scare it to move it to the fireplace. Now, go to the window near the fridge in the dining room and open it. Scare the bird now to send it outside. Head outside yourself and go to the bird, which is on the fence above the drawing. Take a picture for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (7/10). Look around the backyard to see a lot of dead birds. This is rather ominous. Head back inside and talk to Joyce when you are ready to continue with the story. Joyce will mistake you for Rachel at first, and then asks you to get some ingredients to make breakfast. Can do! Your ingredients will actually differ depending on which you chose. If you picked Eggs and Bacon, you need... eggs and bacon. If you picked Pancakes, you need eggs and milk. The eggs are found in the grocery bag at the front door, the bacon is in the fridge, and the milk is on the dining room table. Take your ingredients back to Joyce, and the two of you will make breakfast and chat. Share your optimism or pessimism for Rachel’s fate to Joyce, and then go sit at the table. Look around a bit, eat your meal, and look around some more until Joyce arrives with a photo album. The two of you will look at the last picture William, Chloe’s dad, took before he died. :( She will give the picture to you as a momento. Chloe comes down right after and offers to distract Joyce so you can go sneak into the garage. She then gets her rage on as a distraction, so Max takes the cue and enters the garage. Time to break into David’s computer! Give it a shot first and fail, then rewind to get the attempt back. You have three tries at David’s laptop before it locks, which can be fixed with a little rewinding. You can scavenge the garage for lots of possible passwords, each of which gives you NEW INFO. The correct password can be found by going to the car and searching the sun visor. Check the other side of the receipt for the password. Aw, there’s something sweet about using the date you met your wife as a password. Go ahead and use the password (under Family->11-27-08) to get into the computer. You’ll find out Rachel and Frank both know each other! There is also more Kate info, along with info on Max o_O. Leave the garage when ready and talk to Chloe again. Mr. Madsen will come home at this time, understandably cranky from spending all night trying to catch the hoodlums who broke into the pool. <_< If you got David put on temporary leave, he’ll be way more pissed off, and complain about that instead. Max, Chloe, and David will argue, and the argument will begin to get heated. Here comes a MAJOR DECISION! Choose to either defend DAVID or CHLOE. It’s a pretty tricky choice to make, so take your time to look at both sides and choose the one you most agree with. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.3 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- When ready, talk to Chloe and head out the front door to leave this rather tense atmosphere. _______ / Diner \ |-------|_______________ | Pictures So Far: 7/10 \ | Pictures Here: 2 / ----------------------- | 4.3.7 | We are back here to search Frank’s RV! Chloe will give a flawless plan, and then go off to hunt down a bone to distract the dog. Start by talking to the fisherman and looking around the parking lot to see some more dead birds, then head along the sidewalk in front of the diner. You’ll see the trucker out front. If you turn towards the truck in the distance with an American flag, you will see a photo prompt, but trying this will cause the trucker to stop you. Talk to the trucker, who will complain about being late to work because of you tampering the train tracks if you did so. Keep talking and he will get around to naming the make and model of his truck, which will be NEW INFO. Rewind and open up with this information, followed by mentioning Rachel, which will allow you to photo the truck. Do so for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (8/10). Now, go back around behind the diner. As you turn into the alley, look to the left to see a swarm of ants around a dead bird. Lovely. Take a picture of this swarm for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (9/10). Now, keep going back until you see the homeless woman again. If you talked to her before, she will be friendlier to her. Regardless, if you talk to her enough, especially in regards to Nathan, you will get the option to TELL HER about the tornado coming soon as a MINOR DECISION. Choose to do so or not. Alright, enough messing around! Go ahead and enter the diner now. Start by watching the TV to see a news report on the recent unusual weather patterns. There is new graffiti in the bathroom in regards to Kate. When ready, talk to Frank. If you want to have some fun, spill his soda and beans before talking to him, rewinding afterwards. Frank will not be happy to see you, especially if you tried to shoot him earlier. He will also comment on how you pull off the outfit not quite as well as Rachel. Unfortunately, he’ll refuse to show you the keys to his RV, because apparently we aren’t friends with the guy. Time for another puzzle, but this time with words! The goal of this puzzle is to get Frank to show his keys. You have to talk to Frank, the cop (who is sitting at the bar), and Nathan (who is sitting at one of the booths close to where you sat last time). There are two ways to get Frank to open up: talking about Rachel and talking about dogs. Here is how to get each option: Worth Checking Out First For Fun: Talk to Nathan and choose “Drugs for sale”; Talk to Frank and choose “Buy drugs”; Rewind twice Rachel: Talk to cop and choose “Nathan Prescott”; Rewind and talk to cop again with “Prescott deal”; Talk to Nathan and choose “Cop’s Information”; Rewind and talk to Nathan again and mention “Blood oath”; Talk to Frank and mention “Rachel’s picture” Dogs: Talk to Nathan and choose “Rachel and Frank”; Talk to cop and choose “Rachel and Frank”; Talk to Frank about “Saved dogs” Either way, Frank will put his keys on the table. Go ahead and just take him, and after Max taunts Frank a bit, rewind to keep the keys in your inventory. Score! Go ahead and leave the diner. Outside, you’ll see accident-prone Alyssa get splashed by water from a passing truck. Ah poor Alyssa... Go ahead and walk up to her, fully rewind, and WARN her to save her yet again as a MINOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.11 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Go ahead and give the RV keys to Chloe to continue the story. She tells you to get ready and proceeds to open the door when suddenly Frank’s dog sprints out! Quick choose where to throw the bait! This is a MAJOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.4 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- After this, enter Frank’s RV. Oh god this place is pretty gross. Max will reference the kiss here if you two smooched. First thing is first: on the side of the RV with Chloe is an overhead cupboard. Open it to find the gun Frank stole from Chloe if you didn’t shoot Frank! You now have a MAJOR DECISION: will you GIVE THE GUN TO CHLOE, or NOT? Think of this as your second chance to have Chloe possess the gun. If you already tried to shoot Frank, this choice won’t pop up, since Chloe already has the gun. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.5 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Now go HAM searching Frank’s place to learn a lot about his lifestyle and a bit about Rachel and Pompidou (the dog). You can find his stash in the cupboard over the vent that is NOT near his bed. Check this vent to find out you need something to open it. A knife will work! Go back to his kitchen area and grab the knife off the pizza box. Use it to open the vent and grab the notebook. Here you’ll find a lot of backstory on Rachel and Frank. Hmm it seems like the two were lovers. Chloe’s going to be thrilled to see this. Go ahead and show this to Chloe. She will get very pissed off, and even more so if you sided with David earlier in the episode. Either way, she will storm out of the RV, throw the keys on the roof of the diner, and drive the two of you away. Frank will catch a glimpse of Chloe leaving. As you two drive back to school, Chloe will start to vent to you. She will start blaming people. Choose who you think she is blaming, and she will clear up that she blames her dad (real dad) for all her misfortune. She will drop you off and leave angrily. Poor Chloe. Max will now be alone in her dorm room, reminiscing with the picture of you and Chloe Joyce gave to you earlier. Suddenly, the picture pulses and Max hears voices! Whoa, this is getting trippy. You now need to focus on the picture. This can be a bit tricky to do sometimes. To do it, tap (NOT HOLD) the A and D keys until the picture stops getting sharper. Then, tap the left mouse button until it starts to vibrate. Then let go of the mouse and red lights will appear. After this... __________ / The Past \ |----------|____________ | Pictures So Far: 9/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.3.8 | ...You appear five years in the past! This is the last picture that William took before he died, so it must be fate for us to be here. Young Chloe will notice your pale face, but will assure her you are fine. Alright, it is time for us to save Chloe’s dad! First though, we have a few things to do quickly. First, walk up to the camera on the counter near Chloe and take a picture. This is both your last PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (10/10) and a MINOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.13 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Next, walk to the fireplace and go to the edge closest to the outside doors. DRAW on the edge here for another MINOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.3.14 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Alright, so a few things to note. First of all, to interact with stuff, you have to watch the whole thing play out normally. Watch William answer the phone call from Joyce, look for his keys, find his keys, and leave. When he steps in the doorway, go ahead and rewind. When you rewind here, you have to be careful. It’s very easy to undo your above two minor decisions by rewinding too far. Rewind to just after drawing on the fireplace, which should hopefully be before the phone call. So, if you want to mess around, try to unplug the phone, but Joyce will just call William on his cell phone. You can try to answer the phone when Joyce calls and hang up on her, but William will take the phone from you before you hang up. You can look into the address book near the phone and then call the Diner before Joyce calls, but you just get told Joyce already left the diner, and will call right after. Damn fate just does not want William to miss this call, huh? When you are ready to do this for real, rewind until the point where William is on the phone. Make sure you still have your fireplace drawing and picture if
you want to lock in those minor choices. Search the cap on the coffee table to find the keys. So, unfortunately, William has one of those key locators, so we have to hide the keys in a good spot. While William is searching for his keys, hide it in either the SINK or OUTSIDE THE BACKYARD DOOR. Either one will work. William will fail to find his keys and give up, deciding to take the bus instead via Max’s suggestion. Nice job! William’s life is now saved. Next, due to something called the Butterfly Effect (where changes made further in the past have exponentially bigger changes in the future), we watch as Chloe’s entire life changes over the last five years. Now, Joyce never marries Mr. Madsen, but instead stays together with William. We also see Chloe happy with her father through the years. In addition, we see Chloe get a new car. Welcome back to the present! We are seen in a social circle with... Victoria and Nathan?! Huh? Apparently we are now in the Vortex Club! We also see that Warren has no interest in you now, but Stella instead! Max freaks out and decides to see how Chloe has changed. On the bus ride, we see a group of beached whales. Damn, the environmental effects are getting more severe. We end with watching Max arrive at Chloe’s house and knocking on the door. William answers and calls Chloe down to see you. Chloe comes down and greets you with a genuinely happy smile... from a full body wheelchair. We messed up bad... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ EPISODE 4 ( 4.4 )+++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ___________________ / Alternate Reality \ |-------------------|___ | Pictures So Far: 0/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.4.1 | Welcome back! It’s time for us to fix our terrible mess from the last episode. Watch the recap, and afterwards we see Max and Chloe travelling together along the beach. The two talk about seeing each other again, although Chloe wishes Max would have visited in the last five years (hmm this hasn’t changed). You two check out the sunset, and you get an opportunity to ask about the accident. Do so if you want to learn that Chloe was in a car crash (so that’s what the picture of Chloe getting a new car references!). You also learn that, in this timeline, Chloe never met Rachel Amber (although she’s still missing) and hates the word “hella”. :( The two of you talk some more and decide to head back to Chloe’s house. Damn what a nice room! It’s clear that Chloe’s parents really care for her. Chloe will reflect on the negative aspects of her life, suggesting that she isn’t happy in this timeline either. She’ll then ask for some water. Go ahead and take some time to look around her room first. You’ll find the picture you took in the past if you did on her drawer set. You’ll also learn more about her equipment. Give her the water when ready. You two will talk some more, with Max slyly referring to her bad habit of helping people. We learn that, unfortunately, the accident is pushing a huge financial burden on the family. Chloe will feel like watching some Blade Runner, so let’s grab the movie! If you go back to the drawer set with the (possible) picture on it and look in the second highest drawer, you will see a letter from the principal, who will blow off helping Chloe due to a technicality. Ouch. This will also result in a different comment from Max depending on whether or not you stole the money. When ready, look in the left drawer below the TV to find the movie. Go ahead and put it in the nearby DVD Player to watch the movie with Chloe. You two will both fall asleep shortly after. Max will awake the next morning and talk with Chloe about yesterday and childhood. Chloe will request you get her morphine injector since she is getting some migraines. Leave Chloe’s room. Start by reading some texts from your phone if you like. Since the timeline is different, all the texts are new! Search downstairs here to find the drawing on the fireplace (if it’s there), a lot of visual proof of the financial struggles the family is going through, and knowledge that the family managed to go on their France vacation (by checking the Eiffel Tower on the desk near Chloe’s door), which will be NEW INFO. Talk to William to learn about the Paris trip and financial troubles more, and when ready, head upstairs. Upstairs, check out the room near the stair railing to find Joyce, who you can talk to. You can also go into Chloe’s old room, which is now empty. :( You’ll find a poster of a blue butterfly in the room near the closet. Hmm I feel like there’s something important about this blue butterfly, but I am not sure. You’ll also learn that William has a brother. When ready, go into the bathroom, turn on the lights, search the left cabinet above the toilet for the morphine injector, and return to Chloe. Max will hook up the injector and Chloe will request looking through a photo album together. Go ahead and grab it on the set of drawers and return to Chloe. The two of you will go through memories and flip pages. When you hit the third page, you’ll see the same picture from five years ago! This is your chance! First, however, you have an extremely sad and difficult MAJOR DECISION to make. This is one of the saddest scenes in the game for me. :( Make your very hard choice (note that I DON’T KNOW will go back to ACCEPTING or REFUSING); it’s really not an easy one to make. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.4.1 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- After this heavy choice, go ahead and look at the picture to focus on it again. This is the same process as in Episode 3. To do it, tap (NOT HOLD) the A and D keys until the picture stops getting sharper. Then, tap the left mouse button until it starts to vibrate. Then let go of the mouse and red lights will appear. __________ / The Past \ |----------|____________ | Pictures So Far: 0/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.4.2 | We get a cut scene of us letting William die and burning the picture, so now there’s no getting back. You’ll then see a touching scene of Max telling Chloe she tried to help her, and will always be there for her. We are treated to a photo sequence showing the timeline returning to normal. There are a few new pictures to see: one of Rachel and Chloe, one of Chloe and Nathan in the bathroom, and one of Max and Chloe carrying something up to Chloe’s room. This last picture must be exactly where we left off in the real timeline. _______________ / Chloe’s House \ |---------------|_______ | Pictures So Far: 0/10 \ | Pictures Here: 2 / ----------------------- | 4.4.3 | Max will see Chloe in her classic blue-haired self, the morning after the last episode. Yay, everything’s back to normal!! Chloe will comment on the kiss from last episode and Max will get up (after you tell her to with SPACE). First, walk up behind Chloe and take a picture of her for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (1/10). Go ahead and look around Chloe’s room, followed by looking at the investigation board. We need more clues! Max will suggest three main objectives: translate Frank’s logbook of clients, see Nathan’s phone and texts, and pilfer through David’s research. Let’s take care of the third objective now! Go ahead and leave Chloe’s room. As you leave Chloe’s room, you’ll hear about a bird trapped upstairs. It’s time to make the MINOR DECISION to rescue it! Go ahead and open the window near the stairs, enter the bathroom, turn on the light, and SCARE the bird to the railing. Walk up to it to make it jump to the wall shelves. Scare it one last time to make it leave the house. Nice! --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.4.5 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Go downstairs when ready. Down here, if you sided with Chloe last episode, you will see Mr. Madsen immediately. He will talk about the family being broken up and leave, broken. Check the downstairs and outside for random stuff if you like (note the drawing on the fireplace is gone if it was there before), then enter the garage. If you sided with David last episode, you will see him here in the garage. Start by searching the email on the desk straight ahead to see a reference to Ms. Grant’s petition’s outcome. On the left side of the desk you will find a letter David was writing to Joyce as an apology for all of his actions, if you sided with Chloe. You will also find a map of cameras at Pan Estates too. Interesting. Talk to David if he’s in here to have a rather interesting conversation. David’s working on uncovering a big secret of Arcadia Bay, but warns Max to stay out of it. If you looked at the map of Pan Estates cameras, you can mention this to David, who will say he gave an estimate to Mr. Prescott. Lastly, David will (rather kindly) compliment you on how you handled Kate, along with dissing Mr. Jefferson. Before we grab the files, let’s get one more picture. Go to the left of the garage door to see a plank. Look behind the plank to see a bird nest with a few eggs. Move the plank and snap a picture for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (2/10). Moving the plank is a MINOR DECISION, so if you don’t want to “tamper” with the nest, move the plank back after the picture. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.4.6 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Alright let’s get those files! If you examine the lockers, you will find a padlock on them. We need to open this padlock. There are three ways to do so: Use the code: I am not sure exactly where the code is found, but it is 7171. Use it to open the padlock easily. Use the key (ONLY IF DAVID IS IN THE GARAGE): Try any combination on the padlock, try to grab the keys from in front of David, open the door near the garage door, tamper with the fuse box, go through the door you just opened and loop around to the desk, grab the keys, and rewind to before you tampered with the fuse box. Finally, use the key on the padlock. Smash it open (ONLY IF DAVID IS GONE): Grab the crowbar on the desk and pry open the lockers. Simple. Your choice here is a MINOR DECISION. Using the code is one choice, while any other option is the other choice. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.4.7 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Let’s take a look! You’ll find quite a few photos and coordinates. Perfect! Leave the garage, go to the base of the stairs, and call Chloe down. Alright, now it’s time to get Nathan’s phone! But first, if you saved Kate’s life, you decide to visit Kate in the hospital. __________ / Hospital \ |----------|____________ | Pictures So Far: 2/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.4.4 | This entire area is only explored if you saved Kate’s life, so skip over this if Kate is dead. The area begins with Chloe apologizing for giving you crap about answering Kate if you did so. Max then enters Kate’s hospital room and greets her with a hug. The two chat about how happy to see each other they are. Kate will want to make a children’s book, and ask Max to take photos for the book! Look around the room to see all the cards and support Kate is getting. If you look at the cards on the foot of Kate’s bed and scroll to the end, you will see Victoria give Kate a personal card, which is NEW INFO. Talk to Kate now to see how she’s doing. Mention Victoria if you looked at the card, and you will get an opportunity to judge why you think Victoria’s mean. Say what you think, and then talk about Nathan. Max will mention needing to get into Nathan’s room, and Kate will offer to help by texting you his room number. This is a MINOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.4.8 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Go ahead and leave the hospital when ready. _____________ / Dormitories \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 2/10 \ | Pictures Here: 2 / ----------------------- | 4.4.5 | Here is where the two paths meet back up. You’ll start by talking to Mr. Jefferson. Chloe will flirt a bit with him and Mr. Jefferson will mention that he is going to announce the winner of the Everyday Heroes contest at the Vortex Club party. He leaves and Chloe decides to chat up Justin, leaving you to explore the area. First, let’s grab both of the pictures here! Start by entering the grass left of the sidewalk and running down it all the way towards the totem pole in the distance. You’ll run into a stack of rocks near the end. Take a photo of the rocks for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (3/10). You might need to walk around it a bit till it is between Max and the totem pole. For the second picture, you need to talk to Samuel first. Go Animals -> Squirrels for Samuel to talk about feeding the squirrels. Go ahead and interact with the food near Samuel to lure the second squirrel to the first one. Wait for a bit until the two are together, then snag a picture for the other PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (4/10). Alright, it’s time to learn where Nathan is! When talking with people about Nathan, be sure to choose other topics too to learn a lot more random info. Let’s start with Brooke. If you are going to the movies with Warren, Brooke will be very unfriendly to you, and will not help at all with Nathan. If not, then Brooke will tell you she saw him off-campus. Done; NEW INFO gotten! Even if this is the case, go ahead and talk to Nathan with Samuel (Samuel has interesting dialog, so at least fully talk to him. You learn, through cryptic messages, that you will find Rachel if you just keep going.) and Ms. Grant. Next, talk to Daniel, who is chilling under a tree. If you want to convince him to go to the party, follow the below steps in this MINOR DECISION: Choose “Take different photos.” -> Rewind with new info (Note this and the previous step are skipped if you let Daniel draw your portrait in the first episode) -> Choose “Draw your photos.” -> “End of the World Party” -> “Go to the party.” --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.4.9 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Now it’s time to talk to Chloe! Go ahead and speak to her to move on to the boys’ dorm, since Nathan isn’t present. ___________________ / Boys’ Dormitories \ |-------------------|___ | Pictures So Far: 4/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.4.6 | Time to find Nathan’s room! If you saved Kate and talked to her in the hospital, take two steps forward and Kate will text you his room number. Well that was easy. For those of us less fortunate, go ahead and look at the room map to find out... nothing. Hmm that would’ve been way too easy. Go ahead to the hallway intersection up ahead and turn right. Walk all the way to the window and look out it to find some footprints. Snap a pic of the Bigfoot footprints for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (5/10). Turn around and walk to the door at the end of the hall on the right. Hey it’s Warren’s room! If you are feeling a bit flirty and eager to perform a MINOR DECISION, go ahead and look at his slate, then WRITE on it to draw him a cute, geeky flirt. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.4.10 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Turn around and look at the door on the left to see a slate saying “The Prescotts Rule This Town”. Clearly this is not Nathan’s room. >_> Look at the slate to confirm it is his room (111) and enter. The door is locked, so Max goes all medieval on the handle with a fire extinguisher. This room is the perfect representation of Nathan’s personality. There is a lot of interesting information on Nathan here. A few things definitely worth checking are the drawer near his bed (in particular, scroll to the right), the magazine under his bed, the MP3 Player, and the (date) on the Diploma on the wall near his desk. Pretty normal guy, right? If you reported Nathan, you’ll also find one of Max’s selfies here, since he stole it from your room. Check his computer when ready to see his eagerness for the party, Kate’s video, an angry email from his dad, an email from his sister, and a site selling pills. To end the room search, check the scratch marks in front of the couch, followed by moving the couch. You found his secret phone! Leave his room and talk to Chloe. As you two prepare to leave, Nathan stops by. Crap. Nathan will begin to attack Max, but Warren will step up and get into a fight with Nathan. You now have a MAJOR DECISION. Will you let Nathan take a beat down or stop Warren? The choice is yours. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.4.2 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Leave the dorm and the three of you will chat about what just happened. Warren will leave shortly after (with a strong flirting vibe from both Max and Warren), leaving Chloe and Max to pursue Frank for the final set of clues. _______ / Beach \ |-------|_______________ | Pictures So Far: 5/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.4.7 | Déjà vu anyone? First of all, go ahead and run up to the posts and chains in front of the main beach and whales. Walk left as you look out at the whales. The second whale from the right will have a photo op. Take a picture for the PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (6/10). Look around at random stuff, and when ready, talk to Chloe near the door to Frank’s RV. Time to see Frank... --------------------------- Like Kate, I feel this is a major MAJOR DECISION, as a character’s survival is on the line. As a result, I will be getting super in-depth for this process as well, since a lot of previous decisions come into play here, like Kate. So, there are a total of three outcomes to this. One is Frank getting killed, one is Frank getting wounded, and one is a friendly and peaceful resolution. To get the peaceful resolution, you must navigate the full dialog without pissing off Frank TWO TIMES. If you piss Frank off twice, he will attack you, resulting in one of the other two resolutions. So how do you piss Frank off? And what are the good choices? ~ If Frank does not have the money, that’s already one time right off the bat Frank gets pissed off. Ouch. This can happen in one of two ways: you chose to NOT TAKE THE MONEY, or you took the money, but told Chloe to not give the money to Frank. Thus, if you did not steal, you have to navigate this perfectly for a good outcome. ~ After this, you have to pick “I’m sorry”. Any other choice will piss off Frank, so be careful. ~ Now, your next choice will differ depending on whether or not you TRIED TO SHOOT Frank or not. If you tried to shoot him, you have to say “You scared me”. If you did not try to shoot him, this check will pass successfully automatically. ~ Next, say “Dog rescue/I love dogs”. If you killed the dog by throwing the bone in the road, you are lucky here, as Frank doesn’t know it was you. Whew. ~ Lastly, say “Rachel photo/You know Rachel”. If you passed all these checks with <2 doses of pissed off Frank, you two resolve the matter peacefully. Frank will hand over the client list to you and wish you good luck. If you rewind after an outcome, a pair of additional choices appear: one right before everything, and one right before the “I’m sorry” choice. These mainly tweak the parameters of the talk a bit. First set of new rewind choices: ~ Get rid of gun – Chloe will no longer have a gun ~ Watch your mouth – Chloe will talk nicer, but no outcome changes occur ~ Be careful – Nothing but a slightly angered Chloe Second set of new rewind choices: ~ Close door – The dog will be treated as gone for attacks ~ No fight – Nothing ~ No weapons – You will piss off Frank So what happens if you piss Frank off twice? This is where it gets a bit complicated. There are different events that happen depending on if Frank/Chloe has a gun/no gun and if the dog is present. Note that the scenes will play out differently, but here are the general outcomes and how to get them: Frank’s Death: Dog is present and Chloe has a gun. Irrelevant if Frank has a gun too. Frank’s Injury: Dog is not present. Any outcome results in this. Forced Rewind: Dog is present and Chloe does not have a gun. As you can see, the only way to kill Frank is with the dog present, and the only way to injure Frank is with the dog not present. --------------------------- --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.4.3 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Whew such a technical decision! Whenever you are happy with your choice, go ahead and return to Chloe at the truck to leave the beach. _______________ / Chloe’s House \ |---------------|_______ | Pictures So Far: 6/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.4.8 | Alright! It is time to piece together all of these clues we gathered to find out what exactly happened the night of the last Vortex Club party, with Kate. Go ahead and approach the board with all the clues on it. So, there are a total of 7 steps to follow. Since there is a lot of fun in feeling like a detective, I am going to split up each step into 3 parts: the goal, a hint, and the answer spelled backwards. Let’s begin! Step 1 – First part of Frank’s Clues ~ Goal: Take a look at all Frank’s drug deals during the week of the party. ~ Hint: We should only be checking out items that specifically relate to drug deals. Note that Frank had his clients with codenames, which was the whole reason we visited him in the first place. ~ Answer: tnuocca koob, repap (pot thgir) Step 2 – Second part of Frank’s Clues ~ Goal: Look specifically for any deals Nathan or the Vortex Club made with Frank. ~ Hint: You are only specifically looking for any deals Nathan made. Be sure to check out what Nathan’s code name is! ~ Answer: (lla era repap) pot tfel, mottob tfel, mottob thgir Step 3 – First part of David’s Clues ~ Goal: Look for what Nathan did during the party’s week. ~ Hint: Again, only clues relevant to Nathan should be looked at. You should also select clues that would be used to directly track Nathan. ~ Answer: setanidrooc, esnecil setalp serutcip, snahtan serutcip Step 4 – Second part of David’s Clues ~ Goal: Figure out which car is Nathan’s to match the coordinates. ~ Hint: There isn’t a picture with Nathan, his car, and his license plate together. ~ Answer: pot tfel erutcip, mottob thgir erutcip, mottob thgir setanidrooc Step 5 – First part of Nathan’s Clues ~ Goal: Figure out documents that can help unlock Nathan’s phone. ~ Hint: The phone has a number lock, so choose items with numbers on it. As an aid, one of the clues is the phone itself, since it might trip you up. ~ Answer: tneduts elif, repap (tfel), mis drac, enohp Step 6 – Second part of Nathan’s Clues ~ Goal: Break into Nathan’s phone. ~ Hint: The password is in Nathan’s student file. ~ Answer: orez thgie owt enin If you fail three times to crack Nathan’s phone, it will lock out and you have to enter in the PUK code. You can rewind to get your attempts back. Whether you get in with the PIN or the PUK code is a MINOR DECISION. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.4.11 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- You’ll learn that the anonymous texts were indeed sent by Nathan. Step 7 – Piecing it all together ~ Goal: Figure out where Nathan took Kate after the party. ~ Hint: I will give two hints here since there are so many clues. First of all, there are three sets of similar-looking clues. There is ONE correct clue from each set (no set has >1 correct clues). As a second hint, be sure to look at the flier to know what time and date the Vortex Club party was at, since that is very important. ~ Answer: tsomthgir pils fo repap, pot retnec txet repap (tsegral), erutcip neves All done! We put all the clues together to find Nathan took Kate to an old barn owned by Harry Prescott. It’s time to head on over there. __________ / Old Barn \ |----------|____________ | Pictures So Far: 6/10 \ | Pictures Here: 2 / ----------------------- | 4.4.9 | We start by finding out someone just here. Suspicious! Start by walking to the left of the main door to the side of the barn. Look to the left to see a fence. On one of the posts you should see a bird. Stand right where the bird is. It will fly away, so fully rewind and quickly take a picture for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (7/10). Keep walking along this side of the barn until you see a metal sheet. Move it to find a secret entrance into the barn. It’s pretty creepy in here. Go ahead and examine everything in the barn to learn a lot of backstory on Nathan’s family and their plans for Arcadia Bay. They had shelters put into place around the city, which is a bit unusual. When ready to continue, start searching the Ground until you uncover a trapdoor! But unfortunately there is a padlock on it. Go ahead and attach the nearby hook to the padlock. Next, walk to the platform near Chloe and climb up. Then, pull the old motor down and use it to climb up to the top. Rewind to get the motor back up on the ledge with you, then walk forward to the hay bales. Look around them to see an owl resting up here! Take a picture of it for the other PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (8/10). Return to the motor and attach the nearby rope to it. Lastly, pull the motor and the padlock will get yanked off! Drop down both platforms back to the ground. Once you open the hatch, you’ll uncover stairs going down to a basement area! That’s sketch. Walk down the stairs to come to a vault door with a keypad. Hmm we need the code! There are two ways to find the code: 1) If you open up your files in your journal and go to Chloe’s house, then scroll to the clues you used for your investigation, you can find the slip of paper Nathan had with all the numbers scribbled on it. Find the 3-digit number, which will be your code. 2) If you look at the keypad, you’ll see three faded numbers. The code is some combination of these three numbers. The code is 542. The door opens to reveal an underground bunker! If you look around in here, you’ll see a lot of food similar to the kind David buys. Hmm. The letter across from the entrance shows us how badly Nathan’s mental health is. Look to the left from the letter to see the real secret of the bunker. It’s a really creepy photo room. This must be the Dark Room! Look at the posters and pictures to find out a lot of twisted pictures are taken here. You may or may not find Nathan’s jacket on the couch here too (I am not exactly sure what determines it). Check the computer to find a surprising picture of Kate. When ready to continue with the story, go ahead and open the cupboard closest to the computer. So this is where all those red binders from the post-Episode 1 and 2 scenes came from!! You’ll find some rather disturbing pictures of Kate and an empty binder for Victoria. We piece together that Nathan is planning on drugging Victoria at the party! Crap we have to move. First, however, we see pictures of Rachel completely knocked out, along with a picture of Rachel being put into the ground... Chloe freaks out and decides to quickly go to the junkyard. Look at the binders first for some more clear pictures of Kate and Rachel, and when ready, sprint back to the stairs to leave to the junkyard. We then are treated to an extremely depressing scene where Chloe and Max see Rachel dead. Chloe breaks down and Max comforts her. The two (especially Chloe) get a very strong urge for vengeance and decide to go to the party to find Nathan. We also get one last look at the spirit doe from earlier, which then fades away. Hmm. ___________________ / Vortex Club Party \ |-------------------|___ | Pictures So Far: 8/10 \ | Pictures Here: 2 / ----------------------- | 4.4.10 | You two will pull up to the party location. Chloe will conceal a gun and the two of you get out. Max will look up to the sky and see two moons?! Man this is getting weird. Chloe will not care at all and charge forward. Before you two enter the building you run into Warren, who is clearly a bit drunk. You and Warren will chat a bit and he will take a picture with you. After this, you two enter the party to hunt down Nathan. Start by talking to Stella. She will tell you she hasn’t seen Nathan yet, but that Chloe came through asking about him. She will tell you she is only here for the job (in case you were wondering why she’d be interested in being here) and that she will text you if she sees Nathan. Alright go ahead and go through the curtains to enter the actual party. Whew damn it’s a pretty nice party! First of all, walk near the nearby pool ladder and look out the window above. Line up the two moons in the window by walking around a bit, and take a picture when you can for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (9/10). Walk forward to the counter to see Brooke and Daniel (if you talked Daniel into coming). If Daniel is there, talking to Brooke will tell you the two are going to the Portland Art Museum (she will also be bitter if you are going with Warren to the drive-in, but will apologize if you mention it). Awesome! Both will comment on how serious your face looks too. Talk to Luke if you like and then go forward to see Alyssa. Time to save her again! Walk up to her and rewind to before she gets hit with the pool noodle. WARN her to save her yet again. If you saved her in four of these MINOR DECISIONs, she will call you a guardian angel. If you didn’t save her at all, she’ll start to think you are a curse. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.4.12 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Now, walk forward and enter the door to the left of the VIP booth. Welcome to the “partied too hard” room! Start by turning left. You will see Justin and a skeleton graffiti on the half wall. Line the two up so that it looks like the skeleton is Justin’s lower half, and then snap a picture for the last PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (10/10). Talk to the slightly stoned Justin and he will comment on your face looking serious. Damn almost everyone notices. Look further in the bathroom to see a guy passed out at the toilet. Leave when ready. Walk up to the bouncer and VIP booth. If you removed names from the list in Episode 3, you’ll see a guy trying to get into the section. Talk to the girl there who will refuse you entry, regardless of whether or not you are on the guest list or not. Curses! There are three paths for what happens next: Max is on the list from Courtney: Talk to Courtney at the bar back in the corner near Brooke and she will talk with this girl to let you in. That was easy! Max is on the list from writing down her own name: Talking to Courtney will cause her to check the list since she does not believe you. She will figure out quite quickly that you wrote down your name yourself and refuse you entry. You have to now enter the same way as below. Max is not on the list: Walk back to the entrance area, where the other curtains are, and continue around the pool’s perimeter. Keep going till the path is blocked by a lane reel. Push it to hilariously ruin the entire party and send a pair of students to investigate. Quickly walk forward a few steps and rewind. If you walked far enough forward, you will be on the other side of the lane reel. Simply walk ahead and enter the curtains to get into the VIP section. For the sake of a streamlined walkthrough, if you entered through the back entrance, walk through the area to the main entrance. Near here is Hayden with a few chicks. Talk to him to see he too hasn’t seen Nathan... or anything. Chat if you like and proceed to see Taylor nearby. She will be either friendly or mean to you depending on whether or not you talked to her about her mom. Respond accordingly, warning her about Nathan if you two are on good terms. You’ll see Trevor, Dana, Logan, and Victoria close to each other further in. Talk to the first three if you like. Aww it looks like Trevor and Dana have a good relationship. Logan will also flirt with you a bit, so reject him how you wish. Enough messing around! Time for a serious talk. Talk to Victoria to begin the last MAJOR DECISION of the episode. Ultimately this talk will result in choosing to warn Victoria about the Dark Room or not, and if you warn her, she will either believe you or not. Luckily, this is not nearly as complicated as saving Kate or talking to Frank, so I will keep it relatively short. First of all, if you MADE FUN OF Victoria when the paint spilled on her, she will not believe you. Period. Harsh, huh? If you did not make fun of Victoria, you still aren’t guaranteed belief from Victoria. What will determine whether or not Victoria believes is... the talk with her right now! Say whatever you like to her for the first two dialog options. The only major choice that determines whether or not she believes you is the last choice. If you choose “No need”, you reveal to her that you were the one who spilled the paint, which will cause her to not believe the warning. Any other option will result in her believing you. That’s pretty much it. Make your choice. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.4.4 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Chloe will appear nearby afterwards. Go ahead and talk to her to move on in the story. The two will prepare to ambush Nathan at the dorm when Mr. Jefferson shows up. He will mention that he hasn’t seen Nathan, but that Nathan looked upset. Chloe and Max will then leave, but not before watching Mr. Jefferson announce the winner of the Everyday Heroes contest. The winner is... Max! Even though she did not enter! Nah, it’s Victoria. Victoria dedicates the prize to Kate, which is a pleasantly nice thing for her to do (if you visited Kate in the hospital, you’ll know Victoria’s most likely being sincere here too). Chloe and Max will now leave to the dorms. On the way, Nathan texts Chloe to tell her Rachel’s remains will be gone by the time he’s done with her. Yikes. Chloe and Max rush to the junkyard, but not before the second moon vanishes. Damn that’s really ominous. __________ / Junkyard \ |----------|____________ | Pictures So Far: 10/10\ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.4.11 | Looks like Slender and Life is Strange decided to merge together here. Walk up to Chloe and look to the right into the shack (this is Chloe and Rachel’s hideout from earlier). Go inside and you’ll see a creepy message written on the “Chloe/Rachel was here”. If you wrote “Max was here” on the wall, you get an extra creepy message: “You are all gonna die”. Now follow Chloe through the junkyard, past a spooky owl, and back to the spot Rachel is buried. Chloe will dig her back up and see that she is still there. With the two girls perfectly in the little trap, someone will sneak up behind Max and inject her with a drug that weakens her, preventing her from rewinding. This is not good. Max will warn Chloe, who will turn around and get shot square in the forehead!! Chloe will fall over dead, and right before the episode ends, we get a look at the killer, who is... well, I’ll let you just see for yourselves. Holy crap. Check the preview after the credits and stats to see a scene where the killer is in the dark room with Max pleading in the background. The killer gets his drug ready and begins walking. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ EPISODE 5 ( 4.5 )+++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ___________ / Dark Room \ |-----------|___________ | Pictures So Far: 0/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.5.1 | The episode begins, after the summary, in the Dark Room with Max. Luckily, Mr. Jefferson is currently gone, so we have an opportunity to escape! Unluckily, Max is duct taped on the chair. Start by looking around a bit to wake Max up. First of all, look down to your left to see an unconscious Victoria (if you warned her about the Dark Room and she believed you) or no Victoria at all (if she didn’t believe you or you didn’t warn her). Start by looking at some items to get a negative view of what already happened, then when ready, detach the tape on your right foot. It’s loose! With Max’s leg free, pull the table over. Look at the picture if you haven’t and a prompt to focus on the picture will pop up. Do the same focusing strategy you did in Episode 3 and 4 to go back in time to... ________________ / Dark Room Past \ |----------------|______ | Pictures So Far: 0/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.5.2 | ...the dark room when Mr. Jefferson is present. You’ll get a scene of Mr. Jefferson taking pictures of Max and revealing his reasons for doing so (he is interested in Max’s purity). He also reveals that he used Nathan’s phone to trick you. Lastly, he reveals that you are not going to survive the night. Max kicks the cart, which spills some of the drug on the files. Unfortunately, there’s not much else Max can do while like this, so the moment ends shortly after. ___________ / Dark Room \ |-----------|___________ | Pictures So Far: 0/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.5.3 | Not much has changed, but now the files are damaged from Max kicking the cart earlier. This means the pictures that used to be in the file are now outside it. First of all, if Victoria is present, talk to her. She is awake now and explains how she was captured when Victoria freaked out and looked for help when you warned her about Nathan. After this conversation, Max cleverly decides to use one of these new pictures to go to another point when she was more aware. Focus again on the left pictures to return to the past. ________________ / Dark Room Past \ |----------------|______ | Pictures So Far: 0/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.5.4 | This time Max is far more aware, which offers us a chance to escape. Jefferson begins by giving a more detailed response on why he is doing this. Insult him as you please and he will call you out on who you decided to blame after Kate’s suicide. He then talks about Nathan and how he manipulated and killed him. Lastly, we learn Rachel died from an overdose Nathan gave her. What a bastard. He will put on some music and prepare to dose you. Go ahead and look at your journal and Max gets an idea to use the pictures in there to go back in time. This gives some NEW INFO. Go ahead and rewind fully to get Mr. Jefferson back next to you and quickly speak to him. Mention “my diary” and he will bring over the diary and insult you. Focus on the picture to go back in time... while already back in time. Whoa... _____________________ / Alt. Art Class Past \ |---------------------|_ | Pictures So Far: 0/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.5.5 | Welcome back to the very beginning of the game! You hear the same lecture you’ve heard already several times. Respond how you please (if you say an option other than Daguerreian Process Max will eventually say it) and Mr. Jefferson will pick up on your aggression and continue teaching as normal. Time to ruin his plan! Open up your school bag to find David’s number. Use the number on your phone to text David the info on the Dark Room. After this, Max gets up. Start by walking over to Kate and comforting her. Max very sweetly comforts Kate, which also allows you to take a photo of her. Take the picture for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (1/10). When ready, talk to the psychopath. Max will then be either very aggressive or slightly aggressive to Victoria (depending on whether or not she believed you at the party). Either way, she aggressively hands in her picture. We then get our series of pictures to see how things have changed. Everything is the same as the normal reality until about Episode 2. We then see the cops find the Dark Room, Mr. Jefferson goes to jail, the cops find Rachel’s body, Max wins the Everyday Heroes contest, and Chloe and Kate are alive. It seems very positive, right? ______________ / Plane (Alt.) \ |--------------|________ | Pictures So Far: 1/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.5.6 | We wake up on the plane going to San Francisco. This segment is us catching up to the present of the past reality we were originally in, if that makes sense. Basically, there is the main reality we were present in for Episodes 1-start of 5. We travelled through the picture we found into the past where Max was more aware and talking with Mr. Jefferson. We are currently in the process of transiting to the present of this reality (the one where Max and Mr. Jefferson talked in the Dark Room, but now this reality has a new present). In any case, go ahead and look around a bit. It seems reality is still slightly off (you can see the edges outside the plane). In any case, look around the plane at everything. Principal Wells will awaken and talk with you. Afterwards, we progress more in time to fully arrive at the present for the “Max/Mr.Jefferson talk” reality (man this is confusing). ____________________ / Art Gallery (Alt.) \ |--------------------|__ | Pictures So Far: 1/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.5.7 | Welcome to the art gallery! Look around and talk to people and look at the exhibits (hold off on looking at your picture for now). Talk to Wells to discuss Kate, Nathan, and Mr. Jefferson. It looks like Nathan is in jail now instead of dead. Interestingly, Nathan’s dad seemed to be unaware of the entire Dark Room. If you head downstairs, you will find a girl sitting next to a camera. Interact with the camera to get a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (2/10). Near your picture (upstairs in the back) you will find a Journalist. Talk to him to get his card. When ready, examine your picture. You’ll get another nosebleed, see the tornado, and leave to talk to Chloe. It sounds like the tornado is currently destroying Arcadia Bay. Yikes. Return to your photo and focus on i- hey, stop interrupting! You have to focus quickly on the picture or you’ll continue to get pestered by people. This time, Max is in the past before the game even started. Damn reality is really being strained here. Rip up the selfie after looking at it. Reality now changes yet again back to normal. ___________ / Dark Room \ |-----------|___________ | Pictures So Far: 2/10 \ | Pictures Here: 1 / ----------------------- | 4.5.8 | Welcome back to the main reality! Everything’s mostly the same, except now your stuff is burned up since Mr. Jefferson found the torn selfie. We also now hear a rather ominous storm in the background. To add to the ominous setting, if Victoria was in the room previously, she is now dead, thanks to Jefferson. Tell him off and he will note something weird going on with you. In any case, he will grab a syringe and get ready to kill you with an overdose. Right before he can do so, David comes in!! Unfortunately, he gets knocked out rather quickly. We have to rewind and help David out. First though, rewind fully and select, as a final request, “One last picture?”. This will get you a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (3/10). Now, rewind fully and read on! Welcome to a little puzzle! There are three outcomes: the failed one, the partial success, and the full success. The failed one is one where you have to rewind, the partial success is having David win (with a scar), and the full success is having David win with no injury. How well you do will be a MINOR DECISION. Do all these sequences after rewinding fully. Partial Success: ~Make any request except music -> Warn when David is close -> When David is on the ground, kick the cart -> Quickly pull the lights to the left of Max Full Success: ~Request a sip of water -> Wait for Mr. Jefferson to smack the gun out of David’s hands -> Quickly push the nearby cart -> Quickly pull the lights to the left of Max Failure: ~Anything that’s not exactly one of the above sequences (you have to match one of them) ~Requesting music --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.5.2 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- David will then beat up Mr. Jefferson and Max will take Jefferson’s keys. Max will also decide to use the picture Warren took at the party to bring Chloe back to life! Ready for another MINOR DECISION? Talk to David. You two will have a touching moment where David apologizes for some of his decisions. You will then get to the topic of Chloe. Despite the major decision background, this is actually a minor decision. This will determine the fate of Mr. Jefferson. If you TELL THE TRUTH, you will have an extremely heart-breaking scene where you see how much David cares about her, and in anger, shoots Mr. Jefferson. If you HIDE THE TRUTH, David will be extremely relieved and not kill Jefferson. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.5.3 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- First, go to the table with the computer and look at Chloe’s necklace. Go ahead and take the necklace for later if you like. In any case, when ready, leave this terrible place for good. On the way to the diner, you get an emotional voice mail from Nathan. He apologizes and explains Jefferson used him. :( __________________ / Two Whales Diner \ |------------------|____ | Pictures So Far: 3/10 \ | Pictures Here: 2 / ----------------------- | 4.5.9 | Holy crap! You enter this area right in the middle of a tornado ripping apart the street. We better hurry and find Warren. Despite the rather apparent threat, you can still take your time through this area, so do not worry about rushing through. Start by heading directly forward to the trucker. There is a piece of steel preventing him from escaping. Your first of many rescue MINOR DECISIONs begins here. If you want to free him, walk up to him and select Help. Otherwise, leave him to his fate. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.5.4 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Walk to the left of the truck the trucker was at to pass a dead body and...incoming! Rewind and hurry past the street light that falls down in front of you. After passing this obstacle, you’ll get to see a piece of metal kill Evan right in front of you. Yikes. If you want to save Evan in this MINOR DECISION, rewind to before he gets hit and Help him (like you do constantly for Alyssa). Evan stupidly insists that he needs a picture, but Max talks some sense into him. Another life saved. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.5.5 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | ---------------------------------
And speaking of Alyssa, if you look to the right, you’ll see her in the hole of a second-story building. Time to save her once again! Walk to the right and climb up the ramp of debris to her. Time for a third MINOR DECISION. Here’s the moment where your choices of saving Alyssa or not come in to play! If you did NOT save her 3-4 times, she will mention how being around you is always bad luck and will trip and fall to her death. If you DID save her 2+ times, she will trust you and wait for you to find a way down for her. Note that these events only happen if you TALK to Alyssa first. Regardless if she falls to her death or not (if she does, just rewind to the point before you talked to her), if you want to save her, look at the plank to the left of the debris pile once you are on top and use it. You will successfully save her and she will thank you. As an added bonus, if you saved Alyssa every single time before, a sign will almost crush Max, but Alyssa will save Max instead! --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.5.6 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Next, head back across the street to the building. Use the Entrance to enter the burning building. Once inside here, look at some fliers if you like and walk towards the fire. Naturally, we cannot cross the fire, so we need to put it out first. Look left of the fire to see a fuse box near the window. You’ll also see the fisherman if you look through the window into the small room. You’ll also see that he is sitting in a puddle with wires going down into it. Uh oh. Unfortunately, you don’t have a choice here. Pull the fuse box to remove the fire...and kill the fisherman. Walk past where the fire used to be. You have a MINOR DECISION here. If you want to leave the fisherman as dead, turn to the right and head through the Way Out. If you want to save the fisherman, go left and enter the room the fisherman is in. Rewind so that the fire is back and Help the fisherman. Finish by using the fuse box through the broken window to remove the flames once again and heading through the Way Out. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.5.7 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- We are finally in front of the Diner. We have a pair of photos to take here, but first there is a rather major problem present that will be made clear if you wait long enough. If you wait long enough, you will see a trail of oil catch on fire that leads right into the Diner, and once it reaches the diner, the entire Diner explodes. No joke. Fully rewind and quickly go up close to the diner. You will see a red trunk of Fire Sand on the sidewalk. Use it to successfully stop the fire. Now we can take our time again! Let’s start by getting the two photos here. Start by looking at the roadblock near the diner to see a dead whale. Look at the whale and move so that the column of fire is directly behind it. The Photo option should pop up. Take a picture for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (4/10). To find the second photo, turn around 180 degrees and look up to see a car on top of the two-story building near the Diner. The angle for this one can be a little tricky. Walk to the police car with the tree trunk going through it. Walk right up against the left tree trunk’s tip and look straight up and you should see the Photo prompt. Collect your PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (5/10). Alright, there’s one last thing to take care of outside the diner. If you walk behind the diner to the spot where the homeless woman was, you will either see her (dead) or not see her. If you warned her earlier, then she is absent; otherwise, she is dead. When ready, go ahead and enter the diner through the nearby back door. In this back room, you will find some food supplies, an article by Juliet on bullying, and a radio announcing a tornado warning. Walk around the corner and through the door to enter the main part of the diner where everyone is at. Warren and Joyce will come and make sure you are alright. Warren will beat himself up over not knowing that this would happen. Alright, let’s start by talking with Joyce. This conversation can go different ways depending both on past choices involving her and David, and what you say now. To start, give Joyce a vague answer on where Chloe is and the topic will turn over to David. How this conversation goes influences a MINOR DECISION: either Joyce will change her mind about David or will not. If you sided with David in the argument in Episode 3 (basically, if David was not kicked out of the house), then this option will always be “Joyce does not change her mind”, since she already believes in David. If you got David kicked out of the house and want Joyce to believe in him again, say positive things about him. If you say neutral things, then her mind will not change. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.5.8 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Next, it is time to talk to Frank (if he is present). If you wounded him, he is naturally pretty pissed at you. Otherwise, he’s happy to see you. Now you have a MINOR DECISION: tell the truth about Rachel or lie. The truth naturally crushes him, while a lie gives a more defeated response. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.5.9 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- Go ahead and look at Pompidou (if he is present) and sit to let everything sink in. This is a good thematic moment of the game, as it gets you thinking about the point and purpose of the power. When ready to proceed, go ahead and talk to Warren. The two will talk about being happy to see each other and Warren will mention having the photo. Max will, finally, reveal to Warren that she can rewind time. She also reveals how dangerous Jefferson is. Reveal to Warren your choice of major events (you being responsible for the storm or the fact Jefferson killed Chloe) and Warren will explain this storm could very well be a result of chaos theory. Tell him about Rachel or yourself and Warren will explain how Max’s rewinding likely caused a chain reaction in the environment. Warren and Max will share a sweet scene together and Warren will place the picture on the counter. Go ahead and look at the picture and a MINOR DECISION shows up: how will you say goodbye to Warren? For most players, there will be three choices here: KISS, HUG, or just LEAVING (stone cold). However, not all players will be able to get the kiss option. To get the kiss option you need to do AT LEAST ONE of the below: ~ Accepted Warren’s “Go Ape” invite ~ Helped Warren with his science project in Episode 2 ~ Changed Warren’s grade when sneaking into the school in Episode 3 ~ Wrote on Warren’s slate in Episode 4 If you did at least one, the option will be present. Give him the farewell of your choice and focus on the picture to leave the diner. --------------------------------- | This decision has consequences! | | | | Go to section 5.5.10 to see the | | effects of these consequences. | --------------------------------- _____________ / Parking Lot \ |-------------|_________ | Pictures So Far: 5/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.5.10 | We are back here! Chloe is alive! However, she still is understandably pissed at Nathan. We have to stop her from going to the party! Max explains that she saw Chloe die and that Mr. Jefferson is the real enemy, not Nathan. Chloe does not believe it and is still out for vengeance. Alright, it’s time to convince her! There are a few paths you can take. Here are all the possible successful paths: Nathan is dead -> Jefferson psychopath -> Don’t leave -> Fucked up -> Back time Nathan is dead -> Jefferson psychopath -> Don’t leave -> Terrible choice Nathan is dead -> Jefferson psychopath -> Jeff hurted -> Fucked up -> Back time Nathan is dead -> Jefferson psychopath -> Jeff hurted -> Terrible choice Nathan is dead -> Jeff hurted -> Fucked up -> Back time Nathan is dead -> Jeff hurted -> Terrible choice You then bring up what happened in the past depending on what action you took with Alternate Chloe. After a touching scene, there is one last choice to convince her to come: mentioning David’s role. Mention David caring about Chloe or David saving Max to successfully convince her to come. The two plan on telling David everything about Jefferson, so that he can successfully get arrested. Max intelligently deduces she will not know what happens between this point and the return to reality, so she suggests doing nothing in Chloe’s room (Max is unaware what happens in between time jumps. As an example, think back to Max’s shock at the end of Episode 3 when she is friends with Victoria. Since Max knows she will be unaware, she doesn’t want her unaware stuff to mess anything up.). This scene ends with us getting a photo sequence showing Mr. Jefferson getting arrested instead of the whole bunker scene happening. Nice! Unfortunately, the tornado is still there however... _______________ / Beach REALity \ |---------------|_______ | Pictures So Far: 5/10 \ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.5.11 | Finally we are back to the real reality! We start by seeing Chloe and Max staring at the massive tornado. Chloe is luckily still alive. The two have a touching scene where Chloe reassures Max of her importance. Max also connects that it is because of Chloe that her time-travelling powers exist. Chloe explains that in between time jumps, Jefferson was arrested, the tornado came, and Max told Chloe to head to the lighthouse. Max takes blame for the tornado, but Chloe tells Max to stop beating herself up. Unfortunately, Max passes out... _____ / ??? \ |-----------|___________ | Pictures So Far: 5/10 \ | Pictures Here: 5 / ----------------------- | 4.5.12 | ...And we are back to the beginning of the game! However, as this scene goes on, you’ll notice something different. In particular, observe the window. After the window is painted red, everyone will suddenly vanish. The hell? Let’s start by grabbing a picture. Walk to the center desk with the “Rachel Amber 4ever” text. Hey, this was our first ever photo collectible! Look at it...and it will change text. Creepy. Look at it a second time and it will change to “Chloe Price 4ever”. Take a photo of this for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (6/10). Before you continue, look around the classroom at all the stuff. They are noticeable different than before. In particular, look at where Kate sat. If she is dead, there will be a blood stain, and if she is alive, there will be “I want to die” text written all over the spot. You can also read an unsettling message in the nearby crumpled ball of paper. If you also bring up your journal and texts, you will see quite a few new entries. When ready, go ahead and try to leave the classroom. Jefferson will stop you and invite you to join his dark room forever. Flirt with the man however you like and leave the classroom when ready. You end up in the hallway of the girl’s dorm. This segment is very Silent Hills-esque, where walking through the door will loop back to the door you start at. To get through this segment, you have to follow clues to choose the right door. I’ll give some very clear hints for getting through (don’t worry; it’s really easy once you get the hang of it). If you are unsure which room to find, look at the girls’ dormitory map on the right side when you start. This changes regularly during this segment. #1: Talk to Kate (which changes depending on her being alive or not) and enter Kate’s room. #2: The key is located near the bathroom entrance on the table. Look closely at the key to guide you to the right room. #3: The theme is Rachel Amber. Look where she lived on the dormitory map. #4: Go to Victoria’s room. #5: First, go to where you found the keys (near the restroom). If you look out the window, you’ll see massive squirrels. Take a photo for a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (7/10). Next, go to Max’s room. Next, you’ll show back up to the beginning of the game (back when you had to go to the bathroom before Chloe got shot), except everything’s backwards!! Even the text is! If you want to see a clever moment on Don’t Nod’s part, rewind at any time and the music and dialog will play correctly forward. Proceed forward to the main crossroads at the entrance to see your spirit doe pointing to the bathroom. Before you go inside, turn to the right and you will see a hanging skeleton near the double doors by the boy’s restroom. Walk up to it and hit the Journal button and you’ll get a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (8/10). This is because the Journal button shows up after you take a pic normally, so pushing it takes a reverse picture. When ready, go ahead and enter the bathroom. Now, you’ll be...you know, I really don’t know where you are. Time for some stealth! Wait for Jefferson to go behind the wall to the left and quickly cross. Go around the corner to the left and you’ll see another Jefferson. This spot also gives a clear view of the lighthouse in the distance. Wait for Jefferson to walk on and proceed straight ahead to the small room with the picture of Max duct taped and the seat. Wait for Jefferson to walk past and sneak past him to where he was. You should see two different ways to go: left of the wall or right of the wall. Start by going to the right of the wall until the third Jefferson passes by, then sprint pass where he was. Proceed straight ahead to enter the next area, where there is a circle of pictures and a rotating spotlight statue. This part is pretty straightforward. Walk clockwise around the statue to the other side, using the pictures as cover from the spotlight. Once on the other side, proceed forward to the locker section. This part is like the Jefferson one earlier, but Warren is here instead. Start by walking all the way to the right past the first opening to the second one. Go ahead and turn left, wait for Warren to turn and head straight down the line of lockers. Enjoy the funny dialog from Warren by the way. When you can turn to the right, which should be the segment with Wells patrolling, wait for Wells to turn left and go to the right. Take another right when you can. You should be at the edge of the map with Samuel patrolling this segment. Follow the path around the corner to see Warren’s locker here. Go ahead and open it to see a rather interesting collage of Max. Take a picture to get a PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (9/10). Now simply make your way to the end of this segment. If you aren’t afraid of slowly inching your way past using rewind, you can go down the hallway Samuel and Nathan are guarding by waiting for them to turn and getting to the side to let them pass. Eventually, you will reach the junkyard segment. --------------------- This junkyard segment has the last photo collectible present, but it requires gathering five bottles (yay!). Since this can take a while, I decided to mark off this section. If you are not interested in the collectible, simply navigate your way through the junkyard to the bench near the lighthouse. Still here? Alright, luckily, these bottles are easier than in Episode 2. Start by going to the right of the red cars. You’ll see BOTTLE ONE sitting on the wire coil things near Jefferson. Wait for the right moment and grab it. Next, quickly look to the left to see a school bus. Walk to the left side of it. As you are walking left of the bus, you should see a pile of red cars on your left. Go to the end to see BOTTLE TWO sitting on the hood of one of the cars. Walk around behind the bus to the other side to see Rachel and Chloe’s hideout. Sneak your way around the hideout to see BOTTLE THREE on the table near the chair. Continue to the right out of the hideout (when facing the table) to see the lighthouse nearby. In the corner of this full area on the way are two more red cars stacked on top of each other. Grab BOTTLE FOUR on the hood of the lower car. The last bottle is located nearby. Near the two red cars is one red car by itself in the other corner of the area. Grab BOTTLE FIVE on the trunk of this car. Continue through the opening to find the six (?) bottles stacked. Snap a picture of them for your last PHOTO COLLECTIBLE (10/10) of the game. The bench is right near here to continue. --------------------- When ready to proceed, sit on the bench. You’ll get a scene of Chloe’s house in the past when William died, from the perspective of the snow globe. Watch the scene again and check your phone for a morbid text from William. Next, we find ourselves in the dark room. We see a scene involving Chloe, Jefferson, Warren (whose dialog changes depending on what you did to him as a farewell earlier in the episode), Nathan, and Victoria making moves on each other and insulting Max. We end with alternate Chloe lampshading the infamous title drop (“Life is...So not fair.”). As our last part of this nightmare, we find ourselves in the bathroom of the Two Whales diner. Try to use the keypad to leave (put in a wrong combo) and a billion combinations will show on the walls, floor, and ceiling. Oh god which is the right one? When you are done guessing what the right combo is, look in the bathroom mirror over the sink and you’ll notice that only one combo is reflected. This is the “11E0” one. Simply flip it and enter in the combo (0311). Enter the main part of the diner. This is a mildly uncomfortable part where every single character in Arcadia Bay is present and pleading for you not to kill them. There is a heavy amount of variance on dialog for everyone depending on your previous choices. In particular, the fisherman, trucker, Alyssa, and Evan will have differing dialog depending on whether or not you saved them earlier during the storm (as an example, the trucker will mention already being gone (dead) if you left him, versus asking to be saved if he is alive). Make your uncomfortable way over to where you showed Chloe your superpower to find Nightmare Max. Go ahead and converse with her. This conversation with Nightmare Max is a really interesting one. The full conversation will be going over Max’s insecurities and doubts, and will prompt some thought on why we rewind so much throughout the game and the consequences of doing so (Is it so that we can say the right things to people? Is it right for us to do this? What happens to all the alternate realities?). She will also reference David killing Jefferson if you told David the truth. Respond as you wish and Chloe will come in. She will tell you (the real Max) not to listen to what the Nightmare Max is saying. This last nightmare scene is an emotional walk through memory lane with Chloe. Follow the path and relive all of the experiences the two of you have shared together throughout the week. At the end of the path will be the lighthouse. Approach Max and Chloe at the end to regain consciousness and leave this nightmare. _______ / Cliff \ |-------|_______________ | Pictures So Far: 10/10\ | Pictures Here: 0 / ----------------------- | 4.5.13 | This is it. The final area of the game. The two of you stand and overlook the massive tornado present. Max admits to this storm being completely her fault. Because she kept rewinding and fixing events, reality started to unhinge, which in turn caused this storm. Chloe reassures Max, saying that Max saved her. The scene takes a highly emotional turn when Chloe says the only way to end this storm is to go back in time and let her get shot, since ever since that event, reality began to mess up. In addition, given how many times Chloe has died or almost died, it seems as if fate wants her to no longer live. Chloe even, for the first time in the game, calls David her step father instead of douche :). You now have an extremely difficult choice to make. This is the only MAJOR DECISION of the Episode, and the biggest one of the entire game: do you SACRIFICE CHLOE or SACRIFICE ARCADIA BAY? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ENDING ONE: SACRIFICE CHLOE $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ In this ending, Max agrees and the two have an emotional scene where they say goodbye to each other. Do the two kiss each other or hug? One of these two will happen. To be honest, I am not fully sure on all the details on what causes one or the other to happen. A few points though that can help in determining it: ~ Kissing Warren will NOT prevent the kiss from happening, but it can potentially make it harder to get the kiss from Chloe. ~ If you got Chloe to switch her background from Rachel to Max in Episode 3 and kissed her when dared and sided with her in the argument with her and David, she will kiss you here. ~ I am 90% sure you have to take Chloe’s dare to kiss her to even get the possibility of kissing her. How I believe it goes is something like this: Did you get Chloe to switch her background from Rachel to Max and not kiss Warren? Then they kiss. This should be regardless of siding with David or Chloe. Did you get Chloe to switch her background from Rachel to Max, but sided with David? Then (I believe) they kiss, but only if you did NOT kiss Warren. Did you not get Chloe to switch her background from Rachel to Max, but sided with Chloe? Then (I believe) they kiss, but only if you did NOT kiss Warren. Did you do neither of these two things (no background change and sided with David)? If so, then they do not kiss, regardless of kissing Warren or taking the dare. Enough of that! After the two hug or kiss, Chloe will say farewell and Max will focus in the butterfly picture to return to the bathroom scene. You are now treated to an absolutely heartbreaking scene (I always tear up here) where we watch Chloe die (for real) against Nathan, with Max breaking down. We see a photo sequence where all of the happy memories the two shared the past week are permanently gone, and are replaced with Nathan and Jefferson getting arrested and Max and Joyce mourning Chloe’s death. The scene ends with Max showing up to Chloe’s funeral along with a few characters from the game. At the end of the funeral, a blue butterfly (Chloe’s spirit) lands on the coffin, which causes Max to weakly smile. The game now ends. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ENDING TWO: SACRIFICE ARCADIA BAY $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ In this ending, Max rips the butterfly picture and the two stand together holding hands as the tornado slowly rips through the town. The two share a hug. We then see Chloe and Max driving through the ruins of the town. Everything is destroyed around them and a few bodies are in the street. Max looks sadly out the window, but Chloe stops and comforts Max. The two smile and drive on out of the town, finally getting to experience their road trip to Portland together. The game now ends. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 5. Choice Consequences $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ This section will outline exactly what effects your decisions will have on the story. Obviously, this contains HUGE spoilers, so read at your own discretion! I organized this section by 5.x.y for each choice. The x represents the episode the choice is made in, while y is the specific choice, in order they appear on the Stats page at the end of each episode. This means that the choices are ordered with major choices first, followed by minor choices. Note: At the time of writing, episode 5 is not out yet. This means this list is incomplete, and could have quite a few different effects in the last episode. Second Note: One of the reasons I love this game is because there are quite a few differences in the environment depending on your choices. As a result, it’s very probable that I missed a few consequences here in this list. If you see something I missed, email me and I’ll put it in, with proper credit of course. -------------------------- 5.1.1 – Do you report Nathan to the principal or hide it from him? Report Nathan: ~ Reporting Nathan will affect future dialog with Chloe (who will mock your decision to report Nathan). ~ Nathan will mess up your photo wall after your shower in Episode 2. ~ When Kate commits suicide/is saved, and you choose to blame Nathan (end of episode 2), the dialog around reporting Nathan will change a bit. ~ Nathan will have Max’s selfie in his room for Episode 4. Hide The Truth: ~ When Kate commits suicide/is saved, and you choose to blame Nathan (end of episode 2), the dialog around reporting Nathan will change a bit. -------------------------- 5.1.2 – What did you do to Victoria after spilling paint on her? Make Fun Of: ~ Victoria will post the mean picture of you she took on your Facebook wall. ~ You will reference getting back at Victoria when talking to Warren later in Episode 1. ~ There is a dialog change in Episode 2 when Victoria is talking about you while you are in the shower. ~ Victoria will vandalize your room after your shower in Ep. 2. ~ In Episode 4, when you try to warn Victoria about the Dark Room, no matter what, she will not believe you. No matter what.
