Why did this happen? (Riverwood)

Hello.
I am just new here but I have been playing Skyrim for a long time (well just for fun I dont do the quests though) But then i decided to play the game for real this time. So i started doing quests and etc etc. I joined the stormcloaks since it is a tactical choice for starters. Why? Because:
-Yes the items would be better. You will get the imperial armor (whole set) than joining the imperials you wont get atleast the +19 armor rating. But its just fkr starters.
Then the adventure begins. After I invaded whiterun (i wont join my team mates on this discussion since i was the run who carried the invasion) i then reported to Jarl Ulfric. Then he said the we were go going to "Falkreath" since the place was still not discovered. I fast traveled to riverwood to take a shortcut. Then when i just took a step back a stormcloak soldier approached me and said like "You have done crimes against the sons and daughters of skyrim" anything similar to that. I know i have no bounty since the choices are:
Go to prison
Or
Fight.
Then i exit the chat and everyone attacked me. Thats not the reason that i needed help (besides im wearing steel plate armor legendary) its because i think that if i were to kill these guards or people. I would be the enemy of the stormcloaks. As there are no wereabouts of what i have done wrong. It seems im stuck at this situation. (Also if were to kill these guys i would have alot of bounty on east march or whiterun)
So please help
