I. Update History
v1.00 - Completed all sections. Only missing XP and monetary rewards for the
battle with the four Lemming Cats in Chapter 5, but will add it as soon as I
have a chance to replay the battle or I receive the information from a reader.
May make some changes to the formatting of the monster list, but there probably
won't be any major content updates unless I discover something that I missed on
my first playthrough.
v1.01 - Added rewards for the Lemming Cat battle and information on another
boss and accessory that can be found at the Monstertorium, and made several
minor changes.
v1.02 - Added another accessory that can be found at one of the Train Stations
in Chapter 10, reformatted the item list, corrected some plot-related details
that had me confused, and made a few minor changes.
v1.03 - Revised the descriptions of Brodent and Coral Golem, clarified the dif-
ferences between the difficulty levels, and made a few minor changes.
v1.04 - Made a couple of small revisions to the Questions & Answers and Special
Thanks sections, as well as some minor changes for consistency and completion.
v1.05 - Fixed errors in the stats of the Visitant and the description of The
Brain's Smarter Than You attack, and made a couple of minor changes.
v1.06 - Corrected a couple of problems with Murch's ability list and made a few
minor changes.
v1.07 - Added note about Nigiri-chu's starting weapon and made a few minor
changes.

III. Foreword
Hello, and welcome to my FAQ for Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode 4! I've been
a fan of Penny Arcade-inspired RPGs since I bought and played through the first
two episodes years ago, and recently decided to purchase the last two to see
how the story of the Startling Developments Detective Agency ends. The game be-
gins where the last one left off, with the world torn asunder and subsumed by
the Underhell as a result of Dr. Blood's actions. Only with your help can the
intrepid protagonists and their loyal monsters hope to find the last of the
four gods and restore the world to normal. This delightful homage to the RPGs
of the 16-bit era is full of secrets and challenges, and I hope that this FAQ
will provide you with the information you need to discover and overcome them.

And yes, I realize that Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice
of Darkness 4 is the complete way of rendering the title. For the sake of
laziness, I've chosen to use the shorthand throughout this FAQ.

IV. The Characters
A list of all the available monsters and trainers and the abilities that they
learn throughout the game.

Certain characters learn summons or repeating abilities, which add icons to the
time bar. These take effect on their own time and remain active for the rest of
the battle.

A. Monsters
The human protagonists' earthly forms and weapons are utterly useless against
the inhabitants of the Underhell. Since this realm now encompasses the earth,
the protagonists must rely on monsters to fight for them. You'll find several
of them throughout your journey, each of which has a unique set of strengths,
weaknesses, and sets of abilities and weapons that it can use in battle. Mix
and match your monsters as needed to rise to the challenges you face.

B. Trainers
Rather than participating in battle directly, the protagonists will support
their monsters by teaching them abilities and boosting their stats as they ad-
vance in level. Trainers themselves gain XP after battle, which allows them to
gain levels and learn new abilities to teach to their assigned monsters. One
trainer can work with multiple monsters, so make a plan for developing your
monsters and assign them the most appropriate trainers for the job.

C. NPCs
Non-player characters. Though they can't be controlled on a long-term basis,
they'll contribute to your quest in their own special ways.

1. Francisco Villasenor
The Death Dealer. Sells weapons.

2. Erika
Sells accessories.

3. Brian
Sells Duplicator upgrades.

4. Tycho Erasmus Brahe
Gabe's partner at the Startling Developments Detective Agency. A consummate
scholar with aspirations of destroying and remaking reality. Has potent Scholar
and Swordcraft abilities, but can only be used for a small portion of the game,
so don't get too attached to him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
V. The Basics
Playing the game on the keyboard is quite simple. Use the WASD or arrow keys to
move your characters and select menu options, Tab to open the status screen, Q
to access the options menu, Enter to confirm a choice, and Esc to cancel it. If
you want to get somewhere in a hurry, hold Shift while moving to run.

A. Status Screen
From here, you can save or load a game, equip your monsters with weapons and
accessories, assign them new trainers, or change your battle lineup. Only four
monsters can participate in battle at once, so choose your team wisely.

B. Map Screen
The Underhell is a big place, and you'll travel through both the overworld and
dungeons as you search for the fourth and last god. You can bring up the status
menu and save anywhere on the map screen, and use the Enter key to interact
with your environment or open the treasure chests that you find. You will also
encounter enemies on the map screen, which are represented by immobile sprites.
Coming within one space of an enemy will initiate a battle.

C. Battles
When a battle starts, you'll be allowed to choose from four options:

-Battle! allows you to unleash your fury on your foes.
-Party allows you to swap an active character with one of the characters in
your reserves. This option only appears when you have five or more characters.
-Analyze allows you to view your enemies' HP and power levels, and find out how
many elemental weaknesses they have.
-Give Up! allows you to abandon your dignity and escape from a battle that's
too tough for your characters.

At the top of the screen, you'll see portraits of all the combatants that move
from left to right along the time bar. When one of your characters' portraits
reaches the CMD section of the bar, the character will receive 1 MP. You will
also be able to give that character a command, which will be executed as soon
as the character's portrait reaches the ACT section of the bar. The character's
portrait will then move to the far left of the time bar. Combatants with high
Speed will act more frequently and more quickly.

Enemies begin battle at 100% power and will receive a 10% power bonus each time
they act. This bonus applies to both their Strength and Magic, making their at-
tacks and abilities more effective. Enemies can use their abilities without MP,
but will generally follow a predictable attack pattern. Try to kill them before
they become powerful enough to seriously threaten your party.

Some battles involve special conditions, which will be explained to you before
the battle starts. Pay close attention to them and be ready to adjust your tac-
tics accordingly.

If you win a battle, your party members will be restored to full HP and receive
XP and money. If you lose a battle, your party members will be restored to full
HP and moved one space away from the space that triggered the fatal fight.

D. Helpful Hints
Always wander off the beaten path when exploring the overworld. Any caves,
forests, or ruins you find are optional dungeons, full of enemies, treasure,
and possibly new monsters to recruit.

Enemies don't respawn when you leave and re-enter a dungeon. Take the time to
kill every enemy you find in each one.

Make it a priority to wipe out enemies with attacks that hit your whole party.
They can put you in a world of hurt if they build up enough power.

Dead party members are restored to life after battle and receive full XP for
participating. Don't feel pressured to keep everyone alive if you're facing
particularly strong opponents.

Save often, and consider keeping multiple save files. If you do, you'll be much
less likely to get hopelessly stuck and/or frustrated if you squander your
money, miss the chance to collect a party member or rare item, or decide to do
something crazy and ridiculous.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VI. Walkthrough
Upon starting a new game, you will be prompted to choose a difficulty setting.
Normal is the default setting, but the following adjustments apply to enemies
on other settings:

-On Easy difficulty, enemies receive -25% HP.
-On Veteran difficulty, enemies receive +25% HP.
-On Insane difficulty, enemies receive +50% HP.

The difficulty can be changed from the options menu at any time outside of a
battle. It only affects the enemies' HP and has no bearing on the XP or money
you receive for defeating them.

After choosing a difficulty setting, reading an excerpt from the Quartet of the
Dusk of Man, and watching the intro, you will be able to start your quest.

A. Chapter 1
Gabe and Dr. Blood begin their adventure in the Underhell after a long fall.
Dr. Blood reveals that he traded the soul of his beloved Hestia to a demon for
ultimate power, and the Necrowombicon promised him that he'd be able to free
her if he gathered the four paintings of Yog Modaigh. That'll teach him to
trust tomes of forbidden lore. He also reveals that Tycho is in the Underhell,
and offers to help Gabe find him.

1. Lava Beach
Encounters: Marrowman [1 XP, $1]
            Plume Toad, Mesquito (x2) [4 XP, $10]
            Dark Chef, Vegetarian (x2) [8 XP, $21]
            Vegetarian, Undertaken (x2) [8 XP, $24]
            Sentree [20 XP, $50]
Treasures: $100
            "Magic" Ring

You'll initially be controlling Leviathan, who can choose between Gabe and Dr.
Blood as trainers. After deciding whether you want him to make him a physical
or magical attacker, step between the ribs on the right and cross the bridge to
find the Duplicator. Defeat the Marrowman, descend the stairs, open the chest,
and head east to find another group of enemies and Mr. Beaks. Ascend the stair-
case, fight another battle, and ascend the stairs to your right. Defeat the
Vegetarian and the Undertakens in front of the chest, claim the "Magic" Ring,
and proceed through the graveyard to meet the Sentree. Leviathan and Mr. Beaks
will temporarily be boosted to Level 30 during this fight, which will give you
a chance to play with their high-level abilities. After you've used them to do
away with the guardian, climb the stairs and exit to the east to reach the
world map.

2. Porthole
Encounters: N/A
Treasures: Potion Quantity Upgroid

Talk to the townsfolk, and they'll tell you about a cave to the north and west
of a town and a tower called Babel, which is only accessible by "train." Buy
better weapons and accessories if you need them, and don't forget to snag the
Potion Quantity Upgroid from the chest in the southeast.

3. Underhell
Encounters: Clockatoo (x2), Spider 64 (x2) [8 XP, $34]
            Antler Party (x2) [20 XP, $60]
Treasures: N/A

Defeat all enemies in your path as you head north.

4. Train Station
Encounters: N/A
Treasures: $150
            Molotov Quantity Upgroid

Get the items from the chests in the station and in the rear car of the train,
but don't flip the lever in the car yet. Leave the station and head west; the
Molotovs will help you with what lies ahead.

5. Ice Cream Cave
Encounters: Cave Unicorn, Wratt (x2) [9 XP, $28]
            Howlito (x3) [9 XP, $15]
            Arachnobat (x2) [6 XP, $16]
            Scream Cone (x4) [8 XP, $28]
            Snowperson (x3) [9 XP, $18]
            Snow Angel, Shivvern (x2) [12 XP, $22]
Scream Cone (x2), Shivvern, Cattivan [14 XP, $51]
            Cone Patriarch [18 XP, $80]
            Iceking [8 XP, $30]
Treasures: $225
            Molotov Quantity Upgroid
            Brave Lychee

Head south from the entrance and defeat the Cave Unicorn and Wratts to reach
the chest. Cross the bridge to the west, defeat the enemies there, then follow
the network of bridges to the south to reach the ice cream fields. Exit to the
south after the snippet of dialogue between Gabe and Dr. Blood, then defeat
the enemies to your east first and your west second. Continue south, heading
left when the path forks to reach another group of enemies and a chest that
contains an upgroid, then backtrack and take the right fork to reach a dais.

Step onto the dais, and you'll be thrust into battle with the Cone Patriarch.
Start by having Mr. Beaks attack with Beakonomics and Leviathan use a Molotov.
If Mr. Beaks still has Gabe as his trainer, have him alternate between using
Power Up and Skydive to do 200+ damage a turn. Let Leviathan heal with Potions,
or attack with Molotovs or Tickle if both party members are in good health.

On your way out of the cave, a Scream Cone will join your party. You should
also take the northernmost path to the west on your way out and defeat the
Iceking. The chest he guards contains a Brave Lychee, which gives one of your
monsters a free level-up.

After clearing the Ice Cream Cave, return to the Train Station and flip the
lever in the rear car. The Living Train announces its intent to take Gabe and
Dr. Blood on a millenia-long tour of the Underhell, to which both heroes are
opposed.

B. Chapter 2
1. Lava Islands
Encounters: Arsenne (x2) [2 XP, $8]
Treasures: N/A

You'll control Moira and a re-embodied Jim during this next segment. Thanks to
the power of the Duplicator, you'll have access to all of the items, weapons,
accessories, and money that Gabe's group had, but you'll have a new roster of
monsters and trainers. Jim will use his monstorb to create the first of them:
Philosofly. Head west and then cross the bridge to the north to test it against
the two Arsennes, which Moira will help you defeat with her Brodent. Follow the
pointing skeleton across the bridges and into the cave mouth.

2. Brahe Castle
Encounters: Tycho? [8 XP, $12]
            Squeak King (x3) [12 XP, $39]
            Chambermatron [12 XP, $16]
            Butcher, Baker [20 XP, $30]
            Dust Bunny (x3) [27 XP, $39]
            Emeritus [75 XP, $150]
            Thirster [14 XP, $1]
            Visitant, Bonesman [33 XP, $57]
            Visitant (x3) [48 XP, $66]
            Gaoler, Gaoler Intern (x2) [420 XP, $1025]
Visitant, Bonesman, Thirster, Squeak King [51 XP, $71]
Treasures: Rusty Old Key
            Hot Rod
            Brave Lychee

You'll be threatened and attacked by someone who resembles Tycho, with an out-
fit that really fits his scholarly persona. Have Brodent use Sunburn while
Philosofly uses Molotovs, and he'll fall quickly. Use Potions or Revive to heal
if one of your monsters falls below 30 HP, and use Interrogate to stop Tycho
from getting turns.

Tycho will evaporate after the battle, telling you that there are 5936 of him
left, and you will be free to explore the castle. Defeat the enemies in the
right and left corridors, then follow the left path into the dining room. Get
the key from the chest, then use it to unlock the metal gate. Collect the Hot
Rod from the chest, then defeat the Dust Bunnies for a new party member and
flip the lever to open the central doors.

Upon stepping through the doors, you will meet Emeritus. He accuses Moira of
making Tycho "soft" and threatening the Long Project, and engages the party in
battle. Your maximum HP will decrease each turn as you fight him, so you want
to end this battle as quickly as possible. Have Philosofly use Soshi's Dilemna
on its first turn to reduce the damage of Emeritus's Dark Blast, then have it
and Dust Bunny use Molotovs and physical attacks against him while Brodent uses
Sunburn.

After defeating Emeritus, exit to the left and satisfy the Thirster's thirst
for battle as you proceed north. Go through the doorway, then follow the twisty
path through the dungeon, heading through the dark passage and grabbing the
Brave Lychee from the chest before you head south.

On your way out, you'll meet a Gaoler and two Gaoler Interns, who come after
you with strong physical attacks. Have Philosofly use Let's Positive Thinking!
on its first turn, then have Dust Bunny save up for Bunny Love to speed Brodent
up. All of the enemies in this battle are weak against Fire, so abuse Sunburn
and Molotovs to defeat the interns and then go after the Gaoler. Any monsters
with Moira as a trainer should use Interrogate or Triple Tap to interrupt his
attacks while the others shift between healing and attacking as need dictates.
Summoning a skeleton can help you maintain a strong and consistent offense.

After escaping the dungeon, enter the altar room to meet another Tycho clone...
who turns out to be the real deal. He'll assist you in the next battle; use his
Scholar abilities to make quick work of the enemies. He reveals that his plans
failed because of the last god's continued existence, which sustains the uni-
verse and prevents his niece from remaking it in a less hellish image. He then
explains that the Overhell is supported by three pillars, the destruction of
which would bring it crashing down upon the Underhell. He enlists the party to
destroy one pillar while he topples another, then meet him at the third pillar
for a joint attack.

He also leaves before he can answer any of the party's questions. Jackass.

C. Chapter 3
1. Living Train
Encounters: Passengoid, F; Passengoid, M; Passengoid, C [32 XP, $55]
            Goomez, Baggage [37 XP, $40]
Aggression Stand, Ticketoth [23 XP, $55]
Larcenoid, Mesomorph; Larcenoid, Ectomorph (x2) [42 XP, $9]
            Smokestack [50 XP, $12]
            Vendorr, Conductorax [50 XP, $120]
            Machinegland (x2) [120 XP, $20]
            Soul Furnace, Coalsman (x2) [260 XP, $610]
Treasures: Interrupter Quantity Upgroid
            Interrupter Quantity Upgroid

The Living Train remains blissfully unaware of Gabe's plan to punch it in the
face, so you have the element of surprise on your side. Move forward and enter
the car in front of you, grabbing the Interrupter upgrade from the second room.
Exit and proceed to the next car, where you can recruit Goomez and collect a
second upgrade from the roof after the battle. Enter the next car you're able
to enter, then climb across the roof of the following car and fight off the
Larcenoids you meet up there. Defeat the Smokestack on the roof of the next car
and descend the ladder, then defeat the enemies inside to find a new ally.
Make sure you have Scream Cone and/or Goomez in your party, then press on and
enter the engine room to encounter a boss.

The Soul Furnace appears with two Coalsmen, who will use physical attacks on
your party and heal the Soul Furnace with Shovel Coal. The furnace itself has
powerful physical attacks and Infernal Souls, which damages your whole party.
Have Mr. Beaks use Beakonomics on it to make it bleed, then crush the Coalsmen.
Once they're both out of the picture, have Leviathan use Tickle every turn
while Scream Cone alternates between defending and using Ice Shards and Goomez
alternates between defending and using Smother. If Vendorr is in your party,
its Cold One ability makes it an excellent healer.

Once Gabe has finished making his point, the Living Train will agree to take
him and Dr. Blood anywhere they want to go.

D. Chapter 4
1. Brahe Castle
Encounters: N/A
Treasures: $800

Once again, you're controlling Moira and Jim, who decide to follow Tycho's sug-
gestion of buying supplies at a nearby village. Open the chest as you leave the
castle.

2. Underhell & Cave
Encounters: Huge Person [300 XP, $400]
Treasures: Little Fang
            $1500

Make a detour to the west, defeat the Huge Person, and grab Little Fang from
the chest in the cave. While you're inside, walk between the stalagmites on
the left and through the dark passageway to find a second chest with some money
in it. Once you have your first firearm and some extra cash, proceed north to
the town.

3. Cirroca
Encounters: N/A
Treasures: Talismints(TM)

Talk to the Strange Old Men, upgrade your items and equipment, and collect the
Talismints from the chest. Once you're feeling adequately prepared, exit to the
west and traipse across the overworld map to reach the desert.

4. Windswept Desert
Encounters: Twisp, Catsby [200 XP, $600]
            John Horsemann (x2) [156 XP, $240]
            Wyrmlet (x3) [165 XP, $270]
            Vengeful Balloon (x5) [175 XP, $300]
            Miragi (x2) [220 XP, $480]
John Horsemann, Vengeful Balloon, Wyrmlet (x2) [223 XP, $360]
            Contessa, Vengeful Balloon (x2) [217 XP, $420]
            Localized Tornado (x2) [198 XP, $376]
Miragi, Vengeful Balloon [215 XP, $420]
            Gary, Mistletoe, Nigiri-chu [700 XP, $1500]
            Cactort [800 XP, $2000]
            Contessa, John Horsemann (x2) [303 XP, $540]
            Wyrmlet (x6) [330 XP, $540]
            Rasp Wurm [1800 XP, $3000]
Treasures: Potion Quantity Upgroid
            Living Gravel
            $800
            Interrupter Quantity Upgroid
            Cygnet Signet (Cygnet Signal)
            Refractor
            $1

After converting the imp and the anthropomorphic cat near the entrance to your
cause, defeat enemies and open the chests in the caves as you work your way to
the south. Do the same thing in the next area, exit to the west, and prepare to
face the fearsome fury of the Fish Force as you approach the southwest corner
of the third area.

This trio of villains comes with their own theme song, which is worth listening
to at least once. Thanks to a special battle condition, the surviving enemies
will speed up as their allies fall, so try to weaken them and take them down at
approximately the same time. Nigiri-chu will frenzy on its first turn, causing
itself continuous damage and boosting its attack power above the levels of its
companions. Use Let's Positive Thinking! and Call Skeleton to tip the scales
in your favor, then weaken - but don't defeat - Gary and Mistletoe while using
Molotovs and fire-based abilities against Nigiri-chu and healing your party as
needed. Once the living sushi has been burnt to a crisp, its human companions
will fall without much of a struggle.

After Fish Force turns tail and flees, exit to the south and follow the eastern
path to reach a treasure chest. Backtrack to the west and follow the path
southward, open the other chest, then pass through the cave to meet another
boss.

The Rasp Wurm is weak against Aqua, so Catsby will be invaluable here. Healing
items and abilities won't work in this battle, so interruption and damage-
dealing are the name of the game here. Catsby should cast Ice Shards when he
has 2 MP and defend when he doesn't. The rest of the party should use either
Interrupters or their abilities to delay the Rasp Wurm's turns, and hit it with
their most damaging abilities as soon as they have the MP to use them. The Rasp
Wurm's Smash ability can do 100+ damage to your characters, so make sure it
doesn't get to use it too often.

After defeating the Rasp Wurm, go south to leave the desert and proceed south
through the overworld to your next destination.

5. Demon Wall
Encounters: N/A
Treasures: N/A

The heroes see the pillar on the other side of the Demon Wall. Unfortunately,
none of the mouths on the wall are amenable to the prospect of being scaled,
leaving them at an impasse.

E. Chapter 5
1. Train Station
Encounters: N/A
Treasures: Mocha

The action cuts back to Gabe and Dr. Blood as they disembark the Living Train.
Grab the chest in the building to your right before you leave.

2. Underhell
Encounters: Les Feuilles (x3) [75 XP, $129]
Treasures: N/A

Rather than following the path as it loops around to the south, go north to
find a gap between the mountains and follow the pass north to find a cave.

3. Cave & Ruins
Encounters: Kamikaze Bomboid (x3) [90 XP, $141]
            Pterodad [60 XP, $90]
            Pteromom, Pterolad (x2) [94 XP, $134]
Treasures: Brave Lychee
            Robespierre
            $3000
            Soul Sole

Go north across the bridge and defeat the Kamikaze Bomboids to reach a chest
with a Brave Lychee in it. Loop around the cave, defeat the remaining enemies,
and collect the contents of the remaining chests.

When you return to the Underhell, cross the bridge and go straight east, then
follow the path to reach the Ruins. The chest there contains the Soul Sole,
which is part of a powerful weapon. Head north to reach Babel after claiming
it.

4. Babel
Encounters: N/A
Treasures: Grue Jerky

Dr. Blood detects Hestia's presence as the heroes enter the town. Listen to the
townsfolk talk about Una as you explore, and upgrade your items and equipment
before stepping through the archway.

5. Una
Encounters: Team Member (x3) [105 XP, $3]
            Slime Mold (x3) [198 XP, $156]
            Lemming Cat (x4) [220 XP, $160]
            Dessicant (x2), Slime Mold (x2) [308 XP, $286]
            Taskmaster, Team Member (x2) [170 XP, $122]
            Beatrice (x2), Lemming Cat (x2) [240 XP, $220]
Blade Squirrel, Slime Mold (x2) [277 XP, $264]
            Regokinetic, Team Member (x4) [265 XP, $103]
            Pixie Commando (x2) [190 XP, $212]
            Ladder Mimic [225 XP, $350]
            Bird Eater, Geargoyle (x2) [370 XP, $353]
            Taskmaster (x2), Dessicant (x2) [376 XP, $422]
            Moss Golem, Regokinetic (x2) [525 XP, $420]
Lemming Cat, Geargoyle (x2), Slime Mold (x3) [473 XP, $372]
            Team Member (x6) [210 XP, $6]
            Blade Squirrel (x2) [290 XP, $320]
            Pillar Boss [3000 XP, $5000]
Treasures: $1500
            Molotov Quantity Upgroid
            Whip Halberd
            Bullseye
            $1111
            Potion Quantity Upgroid
            Barbells
            Shieldy the Shield
            $4000

Dr. Blood is picking up Hestia's scent more strongly than ever. Climb the
stairs and work your way along the paths from right to left, then left to right
until you come to two exits. Take the left one for an encounter and a chest,
then go through the right one and fight your way through the enemies until you
reach the two doorways. Take the left one first to find a chest, then take the
right one and follow the path as it loops around and leads you to the outer
wall of the pillar. The ladder is actually a Ladder Mimic, so tear it apart and
take the stairs instead. Enter the door to one of the upper floors and follow
the path as it loops around, going right to get the chest when it splits. Go
left next, taking the bottom fork when the hallway splits for another chest,
then take the top fork and proceed up the stairs to encounter Hestia and the
Pillar Boss.

The four-armed pharaoh who presides over this pillar is weak against Dark, so
Leviathan will be helpful in this fight. Have him alternate between defending
and using Dark Burst; if he's equipped with the Whip Halberd, have him spend
every other turn attacking instead. Mr. Beaks and Goomez can and should inflict
bleed and poison on the Pillar Boss on their first turns, which will help pile
on the damage; after that, Mr. Beaks should use Perforate and then alternate
between attacking (or powering up) and using Skydive, while Goomez uses Heal or
its offensive abilities as needed. If Vendorr is in the party, it can use Soda
Spray and Cold One to do additional damage and heal wounded party members.

As the pillar begins to crumble, Hestia will fatally stab Dr. Blood and be
talked into sparing Gabe at the last minute. She will then teleport you to
safety, and you will gain control of Moira and Jim as they reunite with their
long-absent companions. Gabe and Hestia will then leave to assault the north-
west pillar, until an earthquake forces them to take an underground detour.

F. Chapter 6
1. Underunderhell
Encounters: Hat-Bat (x6) [444 XP, $540]
            Spelunker (x3) [330 XP, $375]
            Tom, Becky [260 XP, $800]
            Stalagmactite, Hat-Bat (x4) [517 XP, $660]
            Hat-Bat (x2), Skelunker (x3) [580 XP, $660]
            Hat Spider (x3) [450 XP, $240]
            Arachnopolis [5000 XP, $6000]
Treasures: Buffz(TM) Quantity Upgroid
            Brave Lychee

All of the monsters that Dr. Blood was training will now have Hestia as their
trainer, so assign them to Gabe if you don't like her skillset and bonuses.
Once that's done, head north, grab the chest, and follow the right fork. When
the path forks again, take the west exit to find a chest containing a Brave
Lychee, then exit to the east and follow the narrow path to the north. Defeat
the Arachnopolis with Aqua and Dark abilities, then follow the winding path to
the exit.

2. Ancient Cave
Encounters: Troll (x2) [20 XP, $100]
            Troll Chief [50 XP, $200]
Treasures: Nothing
            Nothing
            Undeath Charm

You can find this place by going west as soon as you leave the Underunderhell.
Defeat the Trolls and open the empty chests, then head north and fight the
Troll Chief. Climb the stairs behind his throne and examine the monument to
find an Undeath Charm.

3. Underhell & Forest
Encounters: N/A
Treasures: Kickblade

Backtrack to the entrance to the Underunderhell and head as far south as you
can. There's a treasure chest waiting to be opened in the Forest to the south.
Once you've looted it, go through the larger northern entrance.

4. The Jungle
Encounters: Grouchophon [1000 XP, $1500]
Spirit Moose, Wild Gerbil (x2) [1035 XP, $1547]
            Strangheli (x2), Carniflora (x2) [804 XP, $828]
            Skullbloom, Wild Gerbil (x3) [1683 XP, $2062]
            Carniflora (x5) [925 XP, $1220]
            Carniflora, Spirit Moose (x2) [1211 XP, $2070]
            Cthulion, Carniflora (x2) [1093 XP, $1376]
            Lucky Kitty, Strangheli (x3) [1317 XP, $1389]
            Infinitoad [10 XP, $10]
Darkness Heart, Strangheli (x2), Wild Gerbil (x2) [1756 XP, $1974]
            Lucky Kitty (x3) [1998 XP, $2637]
            Darkness Heart (x2), Carniflora (x2) [1970 XP, $2488]
Tree of Demon Monkeys [12,500 XP, $10,000]
Treasures: Briquettes
            $4000
            Switch Quantity Upgroid
            Axe Machine
            Switch Quantity Upgroid
            Vague Pamphlet
            Switch Quantity Upgroid
            $6000
            Regolith (Power Robe)

Upon entering this toothy jungle, head south to collect the treasure and then
cross the bridge in the west. Meet, greet, and beat your new ally, then cross
the bridge to the south and veer west. Go back east after getting the treasure
and follow the winding path to the southern exit.

In the next area, follow the winding path over bridges and through the various
groups of hostile flora and fauna, crossing the bridge in the southwest and
exiting to the next area after recruiting the Infinitoad. Follow the path as it
loops around to the north, and make sure you don't forget to grab the Power
Robe/Regolith, which is hidden in a chest to the west of the stairs after the
Darkness Hearts and Carniflorae. Put your most powerful monster at the head of
your party, and prepare for a boss fight when you exit to the north.

You're only allowed to use one character to fight the Tree of Demon Monkeys,
but your chosen character gets a substantial stat boost. It's weak against
Fire, so if Grouchophon is equipped with the Briquettes, it can make quick work
of the tree with repeated uses of Fireball. Vendorr or Fuchsia can play a more
defensive game if they're equipped with the Regolith; just be sure to have
Hestia assigned as their trainer so they can use Drain to keep their HP up as
they damage the tree.

After felling the tree and all the demon monkeys in it, exit to the north and
enter the town to the west.

G. Chapter 7
1. Strangletown
Encounters: N/A
Treasures: Strangle Choker

Talk to the locals, and you'll find that Tycho passed through the town on his
way to Yggdrasil. You'll also learn that there's a zoo full of vicious animals
at the foot of the tree, because a zoo full of docile animals just wouldn't
inspire the same kind of fear. As per usual, upgrade your equipment and items
before proceeding.

2. Underhell
Encounters: Modern Troll [200 XP, $200]
Treasures: N/A

Before crossing the bridge to the west, head north to the Cave and talk to the
Mimic, then head south to the Ruins.

3. Ruins
Encounters: Zyrmidon (x3) [1800 XP, $900]
            Kleptot (x6) [900 XP, $3000]
            Garbage Man [2200 XP, $3000]
Treasures: Briar Orb
            Axe Axe
            Multi-barrel Gun

Explore the dilapidated buildings, defeat the monsters inside, and open the
chests. Once you're through looting, return to the overworld map and cross the
bridge, then continue west and follow the cliff to reach another secret area.

4. Forest
Encounters: Middlemouth (x2), Bereaver (x2) [1184 XP, $1100]
            Flytrap (x2) [1400 XP, $888]
            Deep Crow [3000 XP, $2000]
Treasures: Stats Regimen
            $4000
            Bushido Brochure

Wander around. Kill the enemies. Grab the treasure. Leave. Follow the path to
Yggdrasil.

5. Yggdrasil
Encounters: Panduck (x6) [3840 XP, $1800]
            Zebroyd (x2) [2900 XP, $3400]
            Monguin (x4) [3348 XP, $2000]
            Merch, Murchin (x5) [6005 XP, $3005]
            Walder (x2), Panduck (x3) [4142 XP, $2234]
            Kangarion, Monguin (x2) [4574 XP, $2300]
            Giraffipea (x2) [5244 XP, $2400]
            Crystodile (x2), Monguin (x2) [6500 XP, $5000]
            Squidiphant, Walder (x2) [6422 XP, $2934]
            Kangarion, Panduck (x2), Walder (x2) [6402 XP, $3234]
            Zooroaster [20,000 XP, $5000]
            Gryphmeratrice [50,000 XP, $15,000]
Treasures: Sneaky Snacks
            $5000
            $6000
            Switch Quantity Upgroid
            Living Gravel
            $7000
            Buffz(TM) Quantity Upgroid

The woman at the entrance informs you that the animals have broken free from
their cages and are devouring people by the hundreds. Joyous glee. Head north
and enter the zoo, then follow the path on the left. There's a chest hidden un-
der the canopy of trees, so make a quick detour to get it as the path winds
around. Head north to find another chest, then follow the path to the south as
it loops around to the north. Follow the walkway along the outside of the tree
to find a new party member and an entrance to a higher level. Keep following
the path, grabbing the chest obscured by the trees as you cut your way through
the raging animals that bar the way to the western exit.

On the walkway, you'll run across a Daewhale that's bound to the pillar with
thick vines. It will promise you a reward for freeing it. Good incentive to
work hard and fast.

In the next area, head north to find a chest, then make your way east. Loop
around to the north and west, then climb the stairs in the center of the area.
Zooroaster, the keeper of the Yggdrasil Zoo, will give you $50 for assisting
with the cleanup, but will become rather defensive upon hearing that you plan
to kill him.

The special condition in this battle makes enemies resistant to magic, so
physical attackers like Mr. Beaks and Murch will serve you well here. Use
Beakonomics, Perforate, and Clutch-Call to weaken Zooroaster's defenses and
deal continuous damage to him, while Murch uses Plushie and switches over to
Fleshreaper mode. If Goomez is in the party, have him attack the boss once to
inflict poison. Use Switches to replace magic-oriented characters with physical
attackers like Fuchsia, who should buff themselves and then go all out on the
boss with regular attacks or strong physical abilities. Zooroaster's attacks
aren't terribly strong, but watch your HP and heal if he whittles you down to
dangerous levels.

After Zooroaster's death, Tycho will appear and explain that the actual master
of the pillar is still alive. He will then use his powers to dispel the shadows
and reveal the Gryphmeratrice, which must be defeated to collapse the pillar.
Reorganize your party as needed and prepare for another boss fight.

Tycho will be your fourth party member for this battle. Unlike Zooroaster, the
Gryphmeratrice is resistant to physical attacks, so don't bother with physical
attackers unless they have abilities that can ignore Defense. If Mr. Beaks and
Goomez are in the party, have them inflict bleed and poison on the boss, then
use a Switch to swap Mr. Beaks out for a dedicated magic user. Tycho should
use Pontificatus to boost everyone's Magic, then use items, Ice Sharder, or Hug
Everybody as needed. If Grouchophon is in the party, have him use Flamesphere
every turn; if Murch is in the party, either leave him in Murch mode and use
him to heal or use a Switch to replace him with Scream Cone, who will increase
the damage of Tycho's Aqua abilities.

With the real master of the pillar slain, Tycho once again leaves the group and
instructs them to go to Q'atra as Yggdrasil crumbles.

H. Chapter 8
1. Effluvia
Encounters: N/A
Treasures: $10,000
            Vaccine
            Knitters

After a long absence, we finally turn our attention back to Moira and Jim. Talk
to the townspeople to learn about the Bibliotechs and their conflict with the
Brahes, and upgrade your equipment and items before setting out.

2. Underhell & Caves
Encounters: Sentree [20 XP, $50]
            Zombie Brute [600 XP, $250]
Treasures: Interrupter Quantity Upgroid
            Molotov Quantity Upgroid
            Buffz(TM) Quantity Upgroid

You have a lot of places you can go, but your best bet is to start by heading
south. With upgraded Molotovs and judicious use of Fire abilities, you can de-
feat the Sentree and claim the two chests in the Cave near the ruins of the
first pillar. After doing so, follow the edge of the canyon to the north to
find another optional dungeon.

3. Coral Cave
Encounters: Flying Electric Eel (x2), Neon Wisp (x2) [960 XP, $480]
            Toxique, Mummussel (x3) [1030 XP, $470]
            Mermaid-turned-human (x5) [800 XP, $495]
            Toxique, Mime-o-pus, Mermaid-turned-human (x2) [1080 XP, $548]
            Coral Golem [2000 XP, $3000]
Treasures: $5000
            Yeti Scarf
            Brave Lychee

Follow the winding path through the first area, slaying enemies and opening
chests as you find them. In the second area, walk behind the waterfall to find
a hidden room, in which you can fight the Coral Golem. Defeat it to add it to
your roster.

After leaving the Coral Cave, cross the bridge to the north of Effluvia and
follow the path east and south past the Zombie Brute. You'll soon come across a
second generic Cave, the chest in which contains a Buffz(TM) Quantity Upgroid.

4. The Battleground
Encounters: Private Brahe (x3) [750 XP, $300]
            Trencher Brahe (x2), Private Brahe (x2) [2000 XP, $498]
            Enlisted Mummy (x4) [1400 XP, $500]
            Brassassin (x3), Private Brahe (x3) [2400 XP, $960]
Brahe Lieutant, Trencher Brahe, Samurahe (x2) [2750 XP, $755]
            Samurahe (x3), Private Brahe (x3) [2025 XP, $798]
Brahe Lieutant, Brahe Phalanx (x2) [2250 XP, $632]
            Brahute, Zombrahe (x3) [2100 XP, $844]
            General Einar, Zombrahe (x4) [9200 XP, $3560]
            Intern (x6) [1860 XP, $600]
            Retcon (x2), Intern (x3) [1870 XP, $520]
            Assistant Editor, Intern (x3) [2480 XP, $600]
            Broodax (x4) [1952 XP, $800]
            Assistant Editor (x3) [4650 XP, $900]
            Gary Gray, Mistletoe, Nigiri-chu [4500 XP, $600]
            Proofreader (x2), Retcon (x2), Intern (x2) [2380 XP, $752]
            Editor-In-Chief [8000 XP, $3000]
Treasures: Army Rations
            $4000
            Brahzooka
            Talismints(TM)
            Brave Lychee
            Strengthium Rods
            Nothing (Bloodied Bandages)
            $5000
            $6000
            Divinator
            $7000
            Rub-On Spray
            Mining Beam

As Moira tells the private at the entrance, the heroes are in a prime position
to help the Brahes succeed in their assault. Be sure to grab the Army Rations
from the third tent before you take the battlefield; they'll boost all of your
monsters' maximum HP by 10. Make your way to the north, keeping a close eye out
for chests as you proceed past the barricades. Go west in the second section
to find a chest in the narrow passage beside the wall, then go east and cross
the bridge to find more enemies and another chest with a red herring in it.
Next, proceed north until you find yourself behind the Bibliotechs' lines, then
turn east and cross the bridge to find a chest with much more valuable contents
than the last one. Exit the area to the north to find the general of the Brahe
forces and prepare yourself for a boss fight.

Like the other Brahes on The Battlefield, the general resists Fire, but he has
no resistance to Dark. He also appears with four Zombrahes, which will deal 30
damage each to your party when defeated. Have Philosofly use Let's Positive
Thinking! to keep everyone's HP up, then use Wind Missile (if Moira is its
trainer) or Revelation and Eternal Punishment every round to weaken both the
general and his minions. Your other party members should focus on interrupting
the general's attacks, healing each other, and finishing off the Zombrahes one
by one; once they've all been laid to rest, you can go all out on the boss.

General Einar will reassemble his dismembered body after the battle, only for
Tycho to appear and impale him on his sword. He will then join your party for
the attack on the final pillar...and you can't change or remove his equipment,
so don't bother trying. Instead, follow the path east to find a chest full of
dollars, then press north and make a jaunt west to find the Divinator before
proceeding to the next area. Keep pushing north, recruiting the Broodax and
opening chests as you find them. You'll also run into Fish Force again, though
they're less threatening than they were in the Windswept Desert. Once you've
swept the fields clean, exit to the north to meet the Editor-In-Chief.

Like so many of the other bosses, the leader of the Bibliotecha won't go down
without a fight. He resists Holy and is weak against Dark, so have any party
members who are trained by Jim use Dark Pact on themselves. Philosofly should
use Let's Positive Thinking!!! on its first turn to keep your party healed,
while Tycho uses Pontificatus to boost your party's Magic followed by Souleater
every turn. Keep your party's HP at 200 or above to survive the boss's physical
attacks, and defeat the Retcons he summons as soon as they appear.

After erasing the Editor-In-Chief, exit to the north and prepare yourself to
brave the third pillar.

I. Chapter 9
1. Q'atra
Encounters: Clobberbot (x2), Immolator (x2) [2500 XP, $840]
            Medidroid, Holoknight, Brainbox (x2) [1870 XP, $800]
            CAT-5, Brainbox (x5) [1700 XP, $800]
            Tallboy (x2) [3000 XP, $1600]
            Brainbox (x2), Toasterian (x3) [2630 XP, $1200]
            Brainbox (x2), Wire Wyvren (x3) [3350 XP, $1500]
            Wire Wyvren (x2), CAT-5 (x2) [2600 XP, $1200]
            Microtank, Immolator (x2), Holoknight (x2) [3590 XP, $1540]
            Aerocraft (x2) [4400 XP, $6000]
            Mechtryoshka (x2), Brainbot (x2) [4450 XP, $2700]
Medidroid, Wire Wyvren, Microtank (x2) [3400 XP, $1600]
            Aerocraft (x2) [4400 XP, $6000]
            CAT-5 (x6) [2400 XP, $1200]
            Mechtryoshka, Tallboy (x2) [4900 XP, $2800]
            Brainbox (x2) [650 XP, $300]
            Ninja Z [2000 XP, $4000]
            Tallboy, Medidroid (x2), Holoknight (x2) [3940 XP, $1800]
            Astralith [4000 XP, $6000]
            Wire Wyvren, Microtank (x2), Clobberbot (x2) [3900 XP, $1800]
            Astralith, Medidroid (x2) [5200 XP, $6400]
            Aerocraft, Toasterian, CAT-5 (x2) [3660 XP, $3700]
            Microtank (x6) [5700 XP, $3000]
            Mechamancer (x2) [50,000 XP, $20,000]
Treasures: $4000
            Invigorant
            Double Mocha
            Brave Lychee
            $7500
            Cybernetic Fingernail Implants
            Interrupter Quantity Upgroid
            How To Kill
            Nothing
            $9000
            $11,000
            Buffz(TM) Quantity Upgroid

Once inside the pillar, find your way north through the hallways and destroy
all of the robots in your path. Step through the portal to reach a chest, then
take the elevator in the north to the next floor. Use the portal to reach a
room with a chest in it as you proceed to the southeast - making sure you don't
miss the Cybernetic Fingernail Implants, which give all your characters a +10
Speed bonus - then take the elevator up.

There are a lot of portals to choose from on this floor, but most of them warp
you around a very small area. After cleaning out the enemies and chests near
the entrance, head northeast and go down the hallway on your right to reach a
red portal. Step through it, defeat the Brainboxes, and open the empty chest.
There's more to this room than meets the eye, however: behind the column, you
can find a secret passageway that leads to a room where Ninja Z awaits. Defeat
him, and he'll join your party. With your nifty new undead ninja ally, go back
through the red portal and go through the blue one down the left hallway. Head
west and defeat the enemies to access a chest, then backtrack to the east and
defeat the Astralith to reach the elevator.

On the next floor, head south and loop around to the north to find a chest,
then head west by foot or by portal and follow the hallway to the elevator.
As you explore the next floor, Tycho will hear his own voice and realize that
the last god - the narrator - has been dictating his actions to him. The last
god responds to Tycho's challenge by summoning two Mechamancers, one of which
Tycho leaves the party to fight while he deals with the other one.

Your party lineup will be changed to Twisp, Philosofly, Brodent, and Catsby at
the start of the fight. Brodent should use Rodent Fever to poison the boss, and
Philosofly should use Let's Positive Thinking!!! to keep the party healed.
Use Switches to replace Twisp and Catsby with the Coral Golem and Dust Bunny,
who will help keep your party's HP up and can use Obscure and Dust Cloud to
make the boss slower and interrupt its attacks. Consider swapping out Brodent
for Ninja Z, as well; if you leave him in the party, have him use Squeezy-Cheez
and then Controlled Burst every turn.

Destroying the Mechamancer will also destroy the structural integrity of the
pillar, and Tycho will take to the sky and leave the other heroes wondering how
to avoid being buried alive. Gabe and Hestia will offer salvation in the form
of the Daewhale, and Tycho will learn that it was the fourth god who inspired
his ancestor to write The Quartet for the Dusk of Man and used him as a weapon
to slay the other three gods.

Tycho will also realize, when the Overhell does not collapse on the Underhell
as he had anticipated, that the Overhell itself is the god's physical body. He
will fly off to confront it, leaving you with the Daewhale.

J. Chapter 10
Your party is united now, so you can mix and match your monsters and trainers
to your heart's content. You can also summon the Daewhale, which allows you to
fly around the Underhell or leave for the Overhell to begin the endgame, by
pressing the left Ctrl key anywhere on the overworld map. There's no turning
back once you head to the Overhell, so make sure you've done everything you
need to do in the Underhell before you depart.

If you're interested in experiencing all of the thrills that the Underhell has
to offer, be sure to complete all of these sidequests.

1. Southeast Cave
Encounters: Reaplet (x6) [3600 XP, $1800]
            Blood Skull (x2) [2500 XP, $900]
            Grim Reaper [4000 XP, $2500]
Treasures: Mega Moths
            $20,000

South of Cirroca, there's a cave that can only be reached by Daewhale. Fight
your way past the enemies and up the stairs until you reach the Grim Reaper.
He's very fast and can hit for 700+ damage with his physical attack, so don't
expect any of your characters to survive it. Attrition is the best way to win:
have Mr. Beaks, Goomez, and Dust Bunny in your party at the beginning of the
fight to inflict bleed and poison on him, then use Dust Cloud to reduce his
Speed. After that, all you need to do is keep one party member alive until the
Grim Reaper is weak enough to be finished off with ease. Bring back slain party
members with Potions and abilities, or use Switches to swap them out for live
ones. You can attack if you're feeling gutsy, but as long as you can keep your
party in the fight, the poison and bleeding will eventually do their work. Land
the killing blow on the Grim Reaper, and you'll leave the cave much richer.

2. R'lyeh
Encounters: R'lyehan (x3) [1200 XP, $375]
            Toothachu, Deep One (x3) [2050 XP, $650]
            Deep One (x2), Nightmare (x2), R'lyehan (x2) [3300 XP, $900]
            Cephalon, Nightmare (x2) [2750 XP, $600]
Cthulhu, Umi, Paws [10,000 XP, $3750]
Treasures: Spooky Pills
            $13,000

You can find this ominous temple to the south-southwest of Cirroca and just a
short flight west of the Southeast Cave. The path is straightforward; make de-
tours to collect chests and work your way north to reach the boss's room.

Cthulhu will fight you with help from his groupie Umi and his cat Paws. Paws is
fast, Umi can do 200+ damage to one character with Heroine Strike, and Cthulhu
can hit your whole party for 80+ damage with Tentacular. It goes without saying
who the biggest threat is. Use Molotovs and your most powerful Fire and Holy
abilities to take Cthulhu down, then go after Umi. She's weak against Dark, so
Leviathan or Goomez can really put the hurt on her. Paws alone poses little
threat, and should be easy for your party to dispatch once Umi and Cthulhu are
gone.

Cthulhu will join you upon his defeat. Good thing you caught him when he was in
a good mood.

3. Southwest Cave & Train Station
Encounters: Living Nuke (x2) [2500 XP, $1100]
            Thomas Rex [3000 XP, $1500]
            Salamandros, Backdraft (x3) [1450 XP, $500]
            Magman, Salamandros (x2) [2350 XP, $950]
Gabe, Hestia, Moira, Jim [10,000 XP, $4000]
Treasures: Ignition
            Brave Lychee
            $10,000
            Ultravamp
            Clean Energite

Fly west-northwest from R'lyeh to reach Porthole, then fly southwest to find
this cave. There are some very strong enemies here, but they guard some nice
treasures. You know what to do.

In the back room of the cave, you'll fight doppelgangers of the heroes. Gabe
can do obscene amounts of damage with Pulverize, and Hestia's Scorn Strike is
nothing to sneeze at either. Moira can stun your monsters with Triple Tap, and
Jim mostly uses Bury. Focus all your attention on either Gabe or Hestia first -
preferably after inflicting bleed and poison on the other - and use Buffz to
help your monsters deal massive damage in a hurry. Once one is gone, take out
the other one, then go after Moira. Jim can be safely saved for last, since he
has the lowest HP and the least troublesome attacks. The difficulty of this
battle escalates rapidly, but if you can take down the first two doppelgangers
quickly enough, it'll become a lot more manageable.

The treasure chest that the doppelgangers guard contains the Ultravamp. If you
have the Soul Sole and the Kickblade, it will react with them to form the Knife
Shoes. Contrary to what its name suggests, it's a gun, but it's still a great
weapon for any monster who can equip it.

While you're in the area, you should also revisit the Train Station north of
Porthole. Check the tracks to find a chest and open it for some Clean Energite.

4. The Island of Dr. MissingNo
Encounters: Dr. MissingNo [40,000 XP, $50,000]
Treasures: N/A

To find this glitchy character, fly to the northwest corner of the map. Land on
the island with the purple pixels flashing on it, and you'll begin battle with
Dr. MissingNo. He has a lot of HP and can do serious damage with his physical
attack and CheckSumFail, so have Philosofly use Let's Positive Thinking!!! to
mitigate the damage. Inflicting poison and bleed on the doctor and hitting him
with powered-up Devil Knuckles will whittle his HP down in a hurry. Interrupt
his attacks with items or abilities whenever possible, because he'll wipe out
your party with ArrayOutOfBounds about 10 turns into the battle if he's still
standing.

If you defeat Dr. MissingNo, he'll join your party as a trainer.

5. Northeast Cave
Encounters: Craw (x3) [2250 XP, $1125]
            Segamenta (x5) [2500 XP, $1250]
            Sandragoon [2500 XP, $1000]
Treasures: $8000
            Wizard Gravel
            Brave Lychee

This cave is located on a small strip of land to the east of Dr. MissingNo's
island and northwest of the Coral Cave. Kill the enemies, loot the chests, and
fight the Sandragoon in the northeast corner when you're ready. It can hit for
200+ damage with its physical attack and slow your party with Sand Storm, so
use Dust Bunny's Dust Cloud to take away this advantage. Interrupt its attacks
as much as possible while hitting it with your strongest Aqua abilities; Scream
Cone, Goomez, and Grouchophon are all good at maintaining a strong offense.
Keep up the pressure and your party's HP, and you'll soon slay the Sandragoon.

6. Monstertorium
Encounters: Pestilent [10 XP, $20]
            Pestilent [10 XP, $20]
            Gary, Nigiri-chu, Mistletoe [9000 XP, $4500]
            Ultimate Fish [15,000 XP, $5000]
Treasures: $8000
            Fish Bits

In addition to the monsters and treasures in this dungeon, you'll find that
the Death Dealer sells the best weapons money can buy. After defeating the two
Pestilents, go through the doorway in the west to face Fish Force once more.
They're twice as strong as they were in the last battle, but they can still be
shredded with Holy abilities. Use Ninja Z and Murch if you're feeling sadistic.

After their third defeat, Gary and Mistletoe will relinquish Nigiri-chu to you
and make you honorary members of Fish Force. If you leave the Monstertorium and
return to visit them, they will pit you up against Sushifex, the Ultimate Fish.
Fire will fry it in short order, and you can talk to Gary after defeating it to
get the Fish Bits.

K. Chapter 11
1. Overhell
Encounters: Happy Flower of Death (x4) [1200 XP, $400]
Friendly Neighbor of Doom (x3) [1350 XP, $450]
Ultimate Defense System [5000 XP, $1000]
            Shrine Maiden (x3) [1200 XP, $300]
            Shrine Maiden (x6) [2400 XP, $600]
            Templar (x3), Shrine Maiden (x3) [3000 XP, $660]
            Templar (x4) [2400 XP, $480]
            Demonic Shrine Maiden (x6) [3300 XP, $1080]
            Demonic Templar (x3) [2550 XP, $660]
Demonic Templar (x2), Demonic Shrine Maiden (x4) [3900 XP, $1160]
            Corrupted Coriander (x6) [18 XP, $30]
Echo of Yog Kudl, Echo of Yog Crimi, Echo of Yog Korisp, Echo of
            Yog Supp [12,000 XP, $2400]
Treasures: Wafer
            Trench-Coat
            Amp
            Brave Lychee
            $20,000
            Chopsword
            Glowing Blood
            Adamanth
            $30,000

Once you've acquired every available XP, dollar, monster, and piece of gear in
the Underhell, it's time to call the Daewhale and fly to the Overhell. Gabe
discovers that the lushly forested floating island on which the Daewhale leaves
the party is actually the outer skin of the fourth god, which you will then be
able to explore. You'll have one last opportunity to upgrade your equipment and
items as you enter, so take full advantage of it. Follow the path as it winds
northward to encounter the Ultimate Defense System. The boss is fast and hits
for 200+ with its physical attacks; having Dust Bunny slow it and Philosofly
use Let's Positive Thinking!!! will get you off to a good start. Nigiri-chu can
lower the boss's resistances, which will make it easier to deal appreciable
amounts of damage.

Once inside the palace, follow the corridor to the east as it loops northward.
Climb the stairs and proceed west, cross the bridges, and be sure to get the
Glowing Blood from the chest, which boosts all your party members' max HP by
20. Continue following the corridor until you can exit to the north, where Jim
will cause echoes of four dead gods to stir with careless words.

As per usual, you want Philosofly to use Let's Positive Thinking!!! as soon as
it can. After that, pick an echo and focus all of your attacks on it; the
sooner one of them falls, the less pressure your monsters will face. Yog Korisp
can heal, so he should be defeated first. Defeat Yog Kudl next so you won't
have to worry about its fast and powerful attacks, then defeat Yog Supp. Yog
Crimi can't do much other than poison you, so victory will come quickly once
it's the only one left.

After defeating the echoes of the four gods, approach the maw on the far wall
of the room and prepare to descend into the (literal) belly of the beast.

2. Grand Finale
Encounters: Mitochondria (x2), Gurga Lurgle (x2) [5700 XP, $1200]
            Sentient Pus (x2), Gurga Lurgle (x4) [4000 XP, $1040]
            Giant Foot (x2), Sentient Pus (x2) [4800 XP, $1040]
            Sentient Pus (x6) [4800 XP, $1320]
            The Spleen [12,000 XP, $2000]
Mauve Godsblood (x2), Godsblood (x2), Gurga Lurgle (x2) [6800 XP,
            $1260]
            Mitochondria (x2), White Godsblood (x3) [5900 XP, $1190]
            Godsblood (x2), White Godsblood (x2) [4800 XP, $960]
            Mauve Godsblood (x3) [4500 XP, $690]
            The Heart, Godsblood (x2) [17,600 XP, $2500]
            Hexa-wielder (x2) [5000 XP, $1000]
            Hexa-wielder, Giant Foot, Yecha (x2) [6100 XP, $1200]
            Deep Scarecrow [9000 XP, $1000]
            Mitochondria, Sentient Pus (x2), Yecha (x3) [5900 XP, $1290]
            Yecha (x3), Gurga Lurgle (x3) [4800 XP, $1050]
            The Brain [18,000 XP, $2000]
Tycho Emeritus Brahe [20,000 XP, $4000]
Treasures: Nothing
            Big Book of Staves
            $40,000
            Brave Lychee
            Joke Book
            Self-Help Book
            $100,000
            Brave Lychee

Go down the east...hallway, and follow it as it loops around to the north. Exit
to the north after clearing the area of monsters and treasures, and prepare to
do battle with the first of the last god's organs.

The Spleen is rather fast and can hit for 220+ damage with its physical attack.
Slow it down, poison it, and make it bleed, then interrupt its attacks while
hitting it with your strongest physical and magical skills. Philosofly can do
6000+ damage with Moira as its trainer, Mega Moths equipped, and Wind Bullet in
effect, and can also provide your party with healing. Back it up with one or
two physical attackers and another character to heal, support, and interrupt,
and you'll burst The Spleen in short order.

In the next area, grab the Joke Book to give everyone a +20 Magic boost. Follow
the twists and turns of the central passageway to the spine, which will lead
you to the next organ.

The Heart appears with two Godsbloods and has a physical attack that hits for
100+ damage, which is much less scary than The Spleen's attacks. It can also
summon more Godsbloods if the first two are destroyed, so your strategy is sim-
ple: destroy The Heart after destroying one of the Godsbloods. Alternatively,
you can use items and abilities to interrupt their attacks so they never get a
chance to heal The Heart, though you might run out of items before it runs out
of HP. Use your best judgment.

After breaking The Heart, follow the winding path of flesh and bone to the
northwest corner, making detours to collect treasure chests along the way.
Traverse the ominous bridge of vertebrae, and prepare for a surprise as you
step through the hole in the skull. You'll find Tycho waiting inside, and he'll
join you in battle against the boss.

The Brain, complete with Victorian-style moustache and top hat, can hit for
240+ damage with its physical attack. The standard strategy of poisoning it,
making it bleed, and using Let's Positive Thinking!!! works well here, and
Tycho can use Pontificatus to boost your magic users' damage-dealing potential
significantly. The only thing to watch out for is Smarter Than You, which will
deplete your party's MP and deal them damage based on how many MP they lost.
You can either hit The Brain with Interrupters to avoid it, or focus on using
low-cost abilities to keep your MP down and reduce the damage you'll take. If
Tycho uses Manastream, he can then use Hug Everybody to heal your party each
turn while your monsters focus on attacking.

With The Brain destroyed, the last god's narration ceases and Tycho waits for
the end of the world with the party. It turns out that his sword, the Omnibbus,
is actually the Necrowombicon, which displays all of the brutal agony that
Anne-Claire will undergo if Tycho uses her as a vessel through which to remake
the universe. Tycho has a fit of conscience and refuses to let his niece suffer
so greatly to fulfill his plans, which leads the book to possess him. The party
is teleported to a short bridge of floating rock with a grotesquely misshapen
Tycho standing at the other end. Reorganize and re-equip your party, and pre-
pare for the final battle with Tycho Emeritus Brahe!

All of your monsters are able to use Tycho's Scholar abilities in this battle,
which will be a great boon to them. Have your magic users use Pontificatus and
Manastream to increase the effectiveness of their abilities and boost their MP
generation by 1 per turn. Scream Cone can abuse this to generate large amounts
of MP rapidly and feed them to an ally with Cool Treat. A powerful physical at-
tacker with Gabe as a trainer can then use them to unleash a powered-up Devil
Knuckle, which will do 20,000+ damage to Tycho. Murch can use Plushie to heal
the party and Holy Blast to attack Tycho, Vendorr will be able to do 10,000+
damage with Coin Spew if you haven't spent any of the money you picked up since
you arrived in the Overhell, and Ninja Z's Holy-infused abilities can do fairly
respectable damage. You have a lot of options in this battle, so make good use
of your monsters' abilities and everything you've learned to win. Just be sure
to keep your party's HP up while you wail on Tycho, because the damage from
Fear Engine and 1000 Starving Crows will add up fast.

After defeating Tycho...well, I don't want to spoil the ending, so you'll just
have to wait and see. Enjoy it - you've definitely earned it!

VIII. Questions & Answers
Q: Why a Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode 4 FAQ?
A: It hadn't been done yet, and I wanted to try writing a complete FAQ for an
RPG.

Q: "Upgroids?"
A: Don't ask me; I didn't come up with the term.

Q: Will I still enjoy this game if I haven't played the other three?
A: Yes, but you'll appreciate the story a lot more if you complete the other
three games first.

Q: What's the best monster/trainer combination?
A: It's largely a matter of individual taste and strategy, but Philosofly with
Moira is my favorite. Wind Bullet gives a substantial increase to the damage of
Philosofly's Wind abilities, and it can heal itself and its allies and boost
its Magic for free. It's hard to argue with those results.

Q: Are any of the party members or trainers missable?
A: If you don't recruit Ninja Z before clearing Q'atra, you won't have another
chance to get him. Scream Cone, Coral Golem, Broodax, Cthulhu, and Nigiri-chu
can all be missed if you don't recruit them before you fly to the Overhell, as
can Dr. MissingNo.

Q: Your FAQ is filled with typos and inconsistencies!
A: That's not a question, but since you brought it up...so is the game. The
Cygnet Signet is identified as the Cygnet Signal when found in a chest, the
Power Robe is listed as the Regolith in your inventory, the spelling of the
Merch's name changes depending on whether he's an enemy or a party member, and
I can only assume that "Lieutant" is a shortened form of "Lieutenant." I did
the best I could to correct the more obvious errors while remaining faithful to
the in-game descriptions, but there were places where I felt that more or dif-
ferent information was needed to provide an accurate and comprehensive guide to
the game.

Q: Your strategy for <insert boss here> sucks! You should have used <insert
character(s) here> instead!
A: All of the boss strategies that I outlined in the walkthrough worked fine
for me. If you have an effective strategy for taking down a boss that differs
from one of mine, send it to me and I'll consider posting it.

Q: Your FAQ sucks! I've crapped out better FAQs than this!
A: As soon as you find a way to upload excrement, you should post your wondrous
creation for all to see.

Q: I posted my FAQ, and everyone I know thinks it's better than yours! Your FAQ
really DOES suck!
A: Congratulations! I am in awe of your superior FAQ-writing skills! Now go
away.

Q: This is the best FAQ I've ever read! You're a genius and a god among men,
and I want to know more about you so that I can immortalize you!
A: Yeah, I get that a lot. My contact info's listed below.

Q: <insert some question that has nothing to do with Penny Arcade Adventures or
the FAQ here>
A: See the second sentence of my previous answer.
