  1. The maximum number of characters you can have in a party at any given time is 6. You can swap those party members for others, whether they be NPC party members, or pre-made characters. To use a party of characters entirely created by you, select the "Create Party" option. You can use the "Reform Party" option in the game to remove party members, or try to recruit past the maximum (6) and the menu will open automatically for you to decide who goes and who stays.
