A1 . ABOUT EGO BOOSTS
---------------------

This is probably not a necessary read, but I believe I should include a few
notes about the game mechanics.

Duke Nukem's ego is obviously so inflated it also manages to protect him from
serious harm; Stopping bullets, claws, psionic blasts, rockets, etc. However,
it does have limits, thus it is essential to find a means to further enlarge
Duke's ego.

That is where this guides comes into play. This guide will discuss what all
the ego boosts are, and where to find them.

- There are many items/events Duke Nukem can interact with in-game that to help
  him raise his ego. Such examples include:

    * Winning at video games
    * Exercising and sports-related activities
    * Certain kinds of eye candy (Calendars, magazines, etc.)
    * Defeating powerful bosses

- All Ego Boosts can be obtained during one play-through of the game.
- Some Ego Boosts can be found in more then one place (for instance, the one
  on the computer monitors may be found at 4 different places). However, a
  player can only claim an Ego Boost once.
- It does not matter what difficulty the player plays at to earn Ego Boosts.
  Once a player has earned one during a play-through, it stays. This is
  helpful for getting through the "Damn, I'm Good" difficulty.
- When a player starts a "New Campaign", the Ego Bar will reset.

NOTES:

- There are no actual "names" for the Ego Boosts. I simply came up with some
  to help identify what they are.
- In the "SORTED BY MISSIONS" section, some of the Ego Boosts are marked with
  a "-- NEW!" tag. This represents the first time they appear in-game.

A1.1 . SAMPLE FORMAT
--------------------

The guide will display each of the Ego Boosts in this format:

-------------------------------------->

Ego Booster Action
Ego Boost: (Enter Value)

What to do: What you need to do to obtain this boost.

Where to find it:
- One or more campaign missions will be listed here.
    (A description of how to find it will be given below)

>=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=<

B1 . EGO BOOSTS
---------------

In Duke Nukem Forever, your Ego bar starts at 70 points.

There are 19 boosts in total, each adding 1-4 points. This gives players 35 to
expand their Ego with, which can bring the combined total to 105 Ego points.

Duke starts with a basic EGO bar much larger than in the original game and
finishes with a bar slightly larger.

>------------------------------------->

B1.1 . STOP PISSIN' AROUND!

Ego Boost: +1
What to do: Use the bathroom facilities (Does it really need an explanation?)
Where to find it:

- RUDE AWAKENING
    After you defeat your first Duke Bot (Execution-style), escape from the
    interrogation room and enter the next prison cell to your right. To your
    right there is hole in the wall you can jump through, but first, you can
    make an important pit stop to your left.

- THE BURNING BUSH
    Up the stairs and in the room on the far right. It is the same room where
    you have to beat down one of the guys harassing the girls. Just don't mind
    her...  uh, watching...

>------------------------------------->

B1.2 . A DIRTY MAGAZINE

Ego Boost: +1
What do do: Pick up and look at the Muddy magazine.
Where to find it:

GOING DOWN
    After defeating the various aliens outside, head into next room where Dr.
    Proton speaks to you. Look to the station to your left (near the dead
    scientist) for the Muddy magazine sitting on the far side of the desk,
    next to the computer unit.

MAGIC CARPET RIDE
    After you get off the elevator and climb the ladder, head into the first
    room and see a Muddy magazine to your right.

    NOTE: This boost can be earned here, but it does not go toward the counter
          on the main menu.

>------------------------------------->

Where to find it:

THE CLONE CAROUSEL
    After defeating the Duke Bots and Enforcers, head into the room where

    door. Instead, turn to your right and look at the right side of the desk to
    find the magazine. This happens before you reach the Carousel.

ALL YOUR BASE
    After you beat the Pigcops, Duke Bots and alien gunships, enter the one
    building Dylan and Graves are waiting at. Do not follow them, but go into

    Inside the Motivation Room. From the main lobby, enter the lower middle

    then turn around to see a projector lower in the middle of the room. Put
    the film reel on the projector and get the show going. The International
    Duke Clone committee will come running in to watch the show.

NOTES:
    The name of this Ego Boost is based on how (sometimes) you can hear the
    International Duke Clone Committee making suggestive sounds while only the

    window (overlooking the busted elevator) and a dart board.

    prove me wrong, feel free to drop me a line.

    The "Bulls-Eye" Boost can be earned at both THE BURNING BUSH and MAGIC

C1 . CREDITS
------------

Credit goes to:

- 3D Realms, Gearbox Software, Triptych Games and Piranha Games for creating
  the Duke Nukem Forever game and it's DLC content.
- GameFAQs for hosting this excuse of a guide. :)
- My editors, who bothered to read this and make sure I did not screw things
  up too badly. Poor editors. :(
- BahamutZero (http://www.gamefaqs.com/users/BahumautZero/contributions), for
  a few odds and ends and excellent feedback.
- You, for actually taking some time to read this.

C2 . DISCLAIMERS
----------------

This document is intended to be for personal use only. Please do not post this
on other game sites without written permission. Currently, the only site with
permission to host this is GameFAQs.

This entire run was done from scratch, without looking at other FAQs or videos.
The intention was to try and find any and all possible means of earning ego
boosts. I figure, "If I can find them, anyone should be able to, eventually".

C3 . VERSION UPDATES
--------------------

1.2
   - Fixed more typos (Seriously, I need a typo mallet, or something
     equally destructive).
   - Managed to calculate the ratio on "Starting Ego" VS "Complete Ego Bar".
     While I have no idea if a starting level of 70 and expansion of 35 are the
     number used in-game, I have surmised that the ratio is correct. The
     calculations are based off measuring the Ego Bar in-game:
      * Without boosts, measured 65mm on my computer monitor
      * With all the boosts, measured 98mm on my computer monitor
     Since I do not have a means to take screen captures off my Xbox 360, I
     took a ruler and did it the old-fashioned way. Taking into account the
     35 points for the boosts, I ended up with 70 as the starting point for
     the Ego Bar and 105 as the total. This is not the same result at the
     original campaign, because the starting and final bars are different.
   - Updated "Authorized Hosts".
   - Updated the "Sort By Missions" section.

1.1
   - Fixed a few Ego Boost names, to better suit the names' origins.
   - Found several errors with the naming of many enemies. They have been
     corrected.
   - Updated and slightly improved the format of the guide.
   - Updated "A DIRTY MAGAZINE". It can also be found on the MAGIC
     CARPET RIDE level, but it does not go towards the count listed on the
     main menu.
   - Updated credits to include BahamutZero and his invaluable feedback.

1.0
   - Completed the guide.
