Introduction

This guide was created for and using the Enhanced Edition of the game: Pathfinder Kingmaker and is targeted for the “Normal” difficulty of the game. The following is my suggested path on handling the encounters/areas, and it is what I believe is the most playable order to handle events. Given how big this game is, this will be the first of three walkthroughs and will cover Acts 1-3. The second walkthrough will cover the DLC “Varnhold’s Lot” and Acts 4-5. The third walkthrough will cover Acts 6-8. I recommend doing the DLC after Act 3 and before starting Act 4, since that's basically when it takes place chronologically in the game, and since you need to complete the DLC by that time, in order to import data from your DLC save into the main game (and get access to extra story and unique items).

This guide is not perfect or 100% comprehensive, but I’ve tried to include as much information as possible. These walkthroughs should get you all of the rare items in the game (including all of the artisan masterpiece items), Rank 10 with all of your kingdom’s advisors, the "best" ending for all of your companions, and the secret/"true" ending of the game with upwards of 70+ spare days before the endgame. This guide also contains information on how to obtain some of the rarer/more difficult achievements. I've also included some information regarding kingdom management, but I'd point you to the companion kingdom management guide since that's a much more comprehensive guide.

I make no guarantees regarding how well this guide holds up if you’re playing on Hard mode or higher. That said, if you’re playing on higher difficulties, I pretty much expect that you know what you’re doing and might only use this guide as a reminder of treasure and events. I actually ran the game on a custom variant of the Challenging mode while building this guide. Given that I’ve played this game a fair amount, I expect that anything I can do on Challenging without too much problem should be doable for a new player on Normal or Easy.

Many choices you make will have long-term effects or will affect the development of your barony/kingdom. For example, if you enter into alliances with groups of kobolds or goblins, then you will eventually be able to build kobold or goblin encampments in your towns and cities. Story choices can also affect the fates of your companions and have minor effects on the end of the game. I would recommend you make whatever choices you want rather than worrying about whether you are getting the optimal gear or optimal amount of exp. The Enhanced Edition of the game has enough experience to comfortably get a full party of 6 characters to level 20, and you will likely have more than a million gold by the end of the game. So don’t feel like you need to pinch every penny, get every item, or squeeze out every bit of exp in the game.

That said, I'd also recommend you not go crazy buying every minor gear upgrade you find in the stores—this isn't a Final Fantasy game. You'll generally do just fine with the treasure you come across while adventuring, and you'll likely need to invest a fair amount of money in buying BP to improve your kingdom and there are two one-time opportunities to buy rare items from merchants in the mid and late game that are worth saving up for.

If you have suggestions or corrections, I would love to hear them. Feel free to use this information elsewhere; I just ask that you give an attribution to me and/or the original creators. I certainly can’t make you, but it’s just general courtesy.

Finally, I would recommend checking out the Official Walkthrough at: https://www.gamerguides.com/pathfinder-kingmaker/guide/walkthrough/. I looked at that guide a lot while playing the game for the first time and used it as a reference while making this guide. It has a lot of useful information and is a great resource!
