Act 2: Troll Trouble

A. Jamandi Aldori's Mansion (Act 2)

Jamandi Aldori will help you establish your own barony (gain 600 exp). She offers you her adopted son Kassil Aldori to take as an advisor, if you wish.

Jamandi will offer her aid in getting established; however, you're making your own independent barony and can act as you choose. If you completed Act 1 within 30 days (with 60 days remaining before the deadline), she’ll give you the Lord Protector (+2 Dueling Sword, Finesse Wielding, Loyal [-5 penalty to attack rolls against friendly targets]).

  1. Lander. Some noble guy. He’ll ask you to take him as your advisor instead of Kassil.
  2. Maegar Varn. The second new baron of the Stolen Lands. He is a key character in the DLC: Varnhold’s Lot.
  3. Kaessi. You met her during the Prologue, and she's the additional companion added in the DLC.
    • You can start her romance by selecting the option: “1. Of course. To beauty!” when she asks you to drink with her. This isn’t the only opportunity to begin the romance so don't stress if you miss it.
    • If you accept her call to adventure, it will begin the Companion Quest: Sorrowflow. There’s really no reason not to accept.
  4. Natala Surtova. She’s representing the current rulers of Brevoy and will offer you Shandra Mervey to take as as an advisor instead of Kassil.
  5. Hannis Drelev. The third new baron of the Stolen Lands. He’s an entitled noble prick.
  6. Ezvanki Keegh.
    • A cleric of Erastil. If you pass the hidden religion check, you can say: “3. I saw how you fought…”, and the next conversation choice will earn 90 exp (or an extra 90 exp if you select and succeed on the Diplomacy check).
    • If you select “3. Bringing law into the Stolen Lands is a difficult endeavor. …” and make the DC 18 Diplomacy check (33 exp), you will unlock the kingdom Project: “Ezvanki’s Offer,” which allows you to build a free shrine once it’s completed.
  7. Ioseph Sellemius. He will offer you 500 building points (BP) as a loan. BP is the currency used for kingdom management choices and to buy buildings. The way this deal works is that you get 500 BP immediately, but all buildings cost 25% more to build until you repay it. You can eventually have your economic advisor work on a 90 day project to get rid of the debuff (at least, that’s what the Internet says; I haven’t verified it myself).
    • It’s not a terrible choice. 500 BP is a fairly significant amount early on and you can minimize the downside by limiting building construction until you repay the loan. Delaying your building projects won’t really harm you since most buildings only add a nominal benefit to your kingdom as a whole.
    • That said, I wouldn’t really recommend it, because 3 months is a very long time to tie up your Treasurer for a Project, and it’ll likely cause you to automatically fail a number of kingdom Events as a result. Delaying construction will also delay your ability to upgrade your capital and villages to towns and cities. You don't really need to take the deal to have access to more BP, since you can buy them at any time for 80 gold, and 40,000 gold isn't really that much in the long term. I personally don't think it's worth it.
    • Choose whichever option you want.
  8. Jamandi Aldori. Speak to her to end the party and progress. She’ll ask you to mingle with the guests if you haven’t spoken to Lander or Natalia Surtova. You’ll complete the “Mingle with the guests” objective and earn 90 exp if you speak to both Lander and Natalia.
    • You'll get a choice of one of three advisors to take with you: Kassil Aldori (the default option), Shandra Mervey, or Lander. Select “1. Before we begin...” if you’d like the option to pick one of the others.
      • Kassil is Jamandi’s adopted son and can serve as your General. He is Lawful/Neutral Good and will give you morally Good and honorable advice.
      • Shandra is an experienced politician from Brevoy and can serve as your Councilor. She is Lawful Neutral/Evil and will favor Machiavellian/more ruthless conduct. According to the Internet, she makes for a pretty good Councilor. I'd recommend her for Lawful/Neutral or Evil characters.
      • Lander is some random, teenage, noble guy you meet at the party; he can serve as your Regent. He is Chaotic Neutral/Evil and tends to give you advice that is self-serving and to his own advantage. He will also betray you later if you pick him. Apparently, his betrayal gives you a permanent kingdom debuff that will seriously screw over your kingdom (your Regent and Diplomat roll twice on checks and take the worse roll): https://steamcommunity.com/app/640820/discussions/0/1730963192552604624/. What else would you really expect from some guy you met at a party who won’t tell you his last name? I'd recommend you pick him if you're feeling masochistic and like getting screwed over.
    • Once you’ve made your decision, the game will automatically progress to your new capital. It’s named Tuskdale by default, and I’ll refer to it by that name or as your capital to avoid confusion. I recommend you check out the Kingdom Management guide at this time.
