Doki Doki Literature Club: FAQ/Walkthrough

Obtaining the Game / System Requirements

That said, since it might be relevant to some of you, and I feel like telling the interested how to obtain the game...

Doki Doki Literature Club is, at the time of writing at least, a free title on Steam or on the official website. As the game has no Steam Achievements I'd argue that the official site's version is easier to fiddle with, but it's up to you.

  • Official Website: http://ddlc.moe/

The system requirements for this game, like many VNs, are fairly minimal. So long as you meet the below you should be fine: (Note that at least the download on the official site confirms that the game is compatible with Linux, and that the download for Windows will work for it. I don't know the system requirements for that version though, but it doesn't make a huge difference in my opinion since the game is not very resource intensive.)

At least where the official site version is concerned, one advantage is that you get the file as a ZIP archive. This is useful in that you don't really have to redownload the game a lot necessarily - just keep the ZIP file on hand and don't delete it. (Just trust me, you will want the ZIP archive, or if nothing else be ready to download the game if necessary. On a similar note, when you unzip, you can simply run it from the main executable in the extracted folder. Be sure to extract into a place you can find easily. That said because of the recommendation in keeping the ZIP file, instead of the ~300 MB Steam recommends it's best to roughly double that.)
