When it comes to video games, I am a completionist, and that is how I aim to write my guides: to let you complete everything the game has to offer, 100%.
So, I will be walking you through each of the 'Chapters' for Singleplayer/CO-OP mode. There are ten Objectives for each Chapter, and I have sorted each Chapter into a separate page, to make it easy to find.
- Use a Bed or Bedroll
- Clothe Yourself
- Craft a Tool
- Find Signs of Intelligent Life
These ten Objectives are fairly simple and are basic tasks, but will take some gameplay to complete. For example, to complete Objective #6 (Slay), you must first complete Objective #7 (Craft a Tool) (technically you can punch out an enemy, but this takes a long time, and you are more likely to be killed by your prey).
But while these tasks stack on each other, your other tasks can be completed within seconds, such as Objectives #9 and #10 (Kick and Dodge). You don't need to kick or dodge an enemy, all you need to do is complete the action.
So, let's get started with those, Objectives #9 and #10. Depending on your controller or keyboard preferences, these actions will use different buttons, and you should learn the controls from the start of the game anyway.
Once you have first spawned in the desert, find these controls, and complete these two Objectives. Quick and easy.
Next, you should complete Objective #1 (Climb). There should be plenty of rocks around you, all you need to do is walk up to one of them and hold down the jump button. You will immediately begin to climb. Climbing costs Stamina, and stopping will not replenish your Stamina Bar.
One upside of being able to climb is the fact that you are actually able to jump off of a cliff or ledge, turn to the wall in midair, and catch/slide down it. This eliminates your fall damage, allowing you to access lower areas easily and quickly, without needing to find a path down.
Once you have finished these, it is time to learn how to scavenge for materials. You will find rocks and branches scattered throughout the dirt and sand, and examining/interacting with them will add them to your inventory. You will need a great number of them for the future, so collect as many as you can find.
You can also examine bushes and sagebrush. This is very useful, as you will find Seeds, Handfuls of Insects, and Plant Fibers. Once you have found these, you should be able to complete Objectives #3, #5, and #7 (Eat, Clothe Yourself, and Craft a Tool).
You will be eating the Handful of Insects. These replenish your Health Bar by a small amount, so you will need a large number of them if you plan to rely on them.
Next, head to the menu and you will find your inventory and recipes. From here you can craft a variety of items, so you should familiarize yourself with it.
Start by crafting some clothes. You can make Coarse Handwraps, Coarse Footwraps, Coarse Leggings, and a Coarse Tunic. To make them all, you will need 18 Plant Fibers. If you have destroyed some sagebrush, you will more than likely have enough, as you will find a lot of these within them.
Next, you should craft yourself a Stone Pick and/or a Stone Hatchet. Both of these will require 5 Stones and 5 Branches, which should be easy to find. I would recommend crafting both, as you will use them a lot.
With that, you will have completed the next three Objectives. This leaves us with only four left (#2, #4, #6, and #8).
Completing Objective #8 (Find Signs of Intelligent Life) can be somewhat tricky. You won't complete it by interacting with animals or humans, but rather by examining large black stones scattered throughout the world. When I spawned, I happened to be right next to one, so I completed this before anything else. However, when I started a new game, I did not spawn in the same place, and I did not find another stone until Shaman's Rise (a location you will come across soon).
So, keep an eye out as you run around and explore. You will find one eventually.
The river is a long distance from you, so I would recommend completing Objective #4 (Use a Bed or Bedroll) next. This can be done with 2 Branches and 15 Plant Fibers. You will need to start by crafting 3 Twine first, using 9 Plant Fibers. This is another easy one, so it won't take long.
Once you have the Twine, craft the Fiber Bedroll. It will be added to your inventory, and you can place it pretty much wherever you want, as long as there is shelter. So, run out of the desert and find some good shelter, and place your bedroll. You'll want to be close to the river (to the north, check your map) so you don't need to run as far if you die.
When you lay your bedroll, you will respawn there whenever you die. If you make and place a new bedroll, your old one will be destroyed and your new one will become your new respawn area.
We are now left with two Objectives, #2 and #6.
You have tools, so take your Stone Hatchet and equip it. Learn the controls of how to attack, and then head north toward the river.
Either on your way, or on the banks of the river, you will find monsters. Don't start with the large ones, as they will kill you before you can really hurt them (you'll need better weapons for them). Start by finding their babies and killing them instead. This will reward you with items and complete Objective #6 (Slay).
Finally, head into the river and examine it. In Conan Exiles, you will be able to drink either from a body of water or by using a waterskin, which can be crafted or stolen from other humans.
It will take you some time and some killing to be able to craft your own Sealed Waterskin (5 Hide, 5 Twine), so I would start by drinking from the river. This is quicker and easier, and will pass off your final Objective, moving you to Chapter II.
